And we know that your father is not American. That's the latest lies that are being told by children of immigrants. I would have more respect for you if you didn't try to pretend that your father was American. The people of Grenada called you out because they know who your father is.

Yup; back in the day I used to work for a law firm that didn’t give off MLK day as a paid holiday and yet all the support staff was Black. I personally was very clear I wasn’t coming in. Thankfully they learned their lesson when no one was there to do work, so they eventually changed the policy. But progress is constantly a fight for us. 🙄
As you all should. I have a huge black family. Mom is one of ten and my Dad is one of ten. Well my family contact each other and make sure we are NOT at work on MLK and Juneteenth. Because some of these work places stay on their best bs.
More division and more separation!! America was the first country to realise slavery is wring and it need's to stop while other nations were still doing it!!
Juneteenth is for Texans. That's the day they found out that they'd work 24 additional months after slavery had been deemed illegal. Although there's no legislation I could find that made the practice of slavery legal. Still not much to celebrate since the Union mandated Freedmen and women to return to plantations or face imprisonment where they'd be auctioned off to local whites to work for free to pay for the incarceration. There's no reason to celebrate that Catch 22 situation.
It's not just for Texans. This is why reading is fundamental. During the Civil War a lot of slave holders from other southern states ran to Texas with their chattel slaves. This was known as "refugeeing." A good number of slaves at the end of the Civil War weren't even from Texas. They were brought from other states so it's not just for Texans.
@@deejay5102 The Juneteenth date is TX notification date. I agree slave holders ran to Texas. TX slave holders both new and old knew slavery had ended but hid that truth from the enslaved and refused to amend their State Constitution w/the 13th Amendment. Juneteenth is about Texans and Texan adjacent both black and white. I only know about the term refugee being used by the Union in their over 200 refugee/detainment camps.
Technically you right the state of Texas was the last to honor the freedom on slaves. But every black American who has slave ancestors should celebrate. Also Amanda Seals is wrong it’s not a holiday for non FBA

Now I am white and although I love to celebrate along side my melanin skinned neighbors friends and family. I absolutely know when to let them have what is theirs. Things THEY HAD TO FIGHT FOR. THINGS THAT THEY CELEBRATE BECAUSE THEY DESERVE IT not because some white man decided they would be allowed . I hope that makes sense and I hope this message is found with understanding that there are certainly some of us who do understand appreciate and completely stand alongside melanin skin people own promoting and celebrating their own because they alone have had to endure and solidify things for themselves that others have constantly came along and tried to mark as their own
So, they fuss cause it's not a recognized holiday, but, when the Government recognized it to be something that is important enough to an ethnic group...then its a bad thing? Also, if its not an American holiday, then why are Americans celebrating it????

The Irish and Native Americans were enslaved in America. Not just by white American either, but for some reason people only want to believe that black people were enslaved. It’s truly was an “everyone was involved” type deal. African slavery in the Caribbean, South America, and Middle East have some complex story lines as well.
Gordon Granger (November 6, 1821 - January 10, 1876) was a Republican, career U.S. Army officer, and a Union general during the American Civil War, where he distinguished himself at the Battle of Chickamauga. He is remembered for issuing General Order No. 3 on June 19, 1865, in Galveston, Texas, further informing residents of, and enforcing, Abraham Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation which set all Confederate states' slaves free on January 1, 1863. June 19 is now commemorated by the federal holiday of Juneteenth. - What if these white men were excluded from Juneteenth?
True history? Well, it is obvious to the point of ridiculousness that she has no idea that slaves brought to America were sold by other africans and that there were just as many black slaveowners in the Caribbeans as there were white. I guess she thought the miniseries Roots was an ironclad and accurate historical record.

@stevewebster8183 When you learn to respect BLACK history. White folks wouldn’t be here if not for people of color. The indigenous people whose land was stolen by white people ( who were basically lost on their way somewhere else) and the enslaved who worked that land built america on their backs and with their blood. Respect that!!!!
Lincoln signed a bill making Thanksgiving a holiday for the freed slaves. Freed slaves honored fallen soldiers with Memorial Day. We know what happened - Juneteeth will be appropriated like Thanksgiving and Memorial Day.
The first slaves were actually sold into slavery by black enslavers LOL but anyway you know who cares about real true history when you have a fake pretend holiday that you made 😂🤣💩🦍
I am white and some people in my family were African-American, so they most likely descended from people who had to endure the brutality of slavery. Plus, I am aware of the fact that slave owners were black, too. I am not even American, but as a person who had African American people in her family I care about the holiday. I know it is not my business, but I care about it. It matters to me.
I agree with the fact that black people should be celebrated. But I do want to point out that Native Americans were also freed that day amongst other enslaved races. I think all enslaved races should celebrate Juneteenth as it marks the day that ALL SLAVES gained their freedom.
I disagree. Junteenth celebrates a event which was the eventual freeing of black Texan slaves. It is not a historical event for Native Americans, or black people outside of Texas, however, we in the black community have started celebrating it since a few years ago because it is important to keep all aspects of our history alive.
They will NOT let anyone else share in their greed. They cry for themselves only. They will NEVER want to hear about another's plight. A true downfall.
I struggle with Juneteenth. As a historical "concept" in and of itself it is something that should be acknowledged. But I struggle with the fact that it STILL is woefully inaccurate so much so that it is as offensive to me as the original inaccuracy that "conceptually" it is supposed to be correcting. Mississippi did not ratify until 2013. Which means that legally slavery was still the law of the land until then. Undoubtedly that speaks to why that state has operated in a literal legal time warp. A critical analysis should be done to identify in specific ways how that disenfranchised Black people up to and including this modern era. Mississippi as it were is NOT the only exception either. With that "Juneteenth" as a historical epiphany (if you will) willfully chooses to keep one eye closed to the entire truth which is WORSE! NOT ONLY THAT.... but the gorgeous NEW MUSEUM in DC has THIS INACCURACY ON THE WALL AS WELL. There is a map with ratification dates and Mississippi among others is INACCURATE. This in no way is accidental. Mississippi in particular was a whole Pandora's box moment of exposure. Someone DECIDED to leave the LIE AS IS. Juneteenth celebrated "as is" without calling out ALL STATES WHO DID NOT RATIFY AND/OR implement the Emancipation Proclamation up until "2013" makes it a celebration of what exactly???? The record STILL is not set straight. Is it sufficient for such a concept such as honoring our "actual" date of emancipation to be in name only by not acknowledging that this wrong was righted within my daughter's lifetime and she's only 30??? abcnews.go.com/blogs/headlines/2013/02/mississippi-officially-abolishes-slavery-ratifies-13th-amendment
Of all the black historical events, the white president picked a time in history when blacks in Texas didn't know they had been freed! Did they ask any black person what day we should have? How about forget that and apologize for chattel slavery and legal segregation. Both of Amanda Seals parents are foreigners from Grenada. Our US history is not hers. She studied our history in school, then tried to own it. It doesn't work that way, Amanda. And we know that your father is not American. That's the latest lies that are being told by children of immigrants. I would have more respect for you if you didn't try to pretend that your father was American. The people of Grenada called you out because they know who your father is.
I appreciate Amanda, she has the same descendants as we black folks do. Plus she's saying the stuff black Americans are too afraid to say, out loud. Riddle me that.

My job with 98% black employees won't give us the holiday, so we're just not coming in. We can show you better than we can tell you.

Don't let them know the plan. They will set policies for it!!!
@kimcash2362 no body cares what the set, did you not get the memo.
More division and more separation!! America was the first country to realise slavery is wring and it need's to stop while other nations were still doing it!!
Actually it was England first.
Then carry on like you been doin.
@mzdeesuite201 nothing foundational about blacks in America. Yall were imported here. the Natives are foundational, Mexicans, are foundational all of the Latin Americans, are more foundational there ancestors were here before the white man brought yall here.
So it’s not about the end of slavery? We shouldn’t use the day to push for unity? So you want more division? Got it. What I learned: bigots come in every skin color GOT IT ✅

Plus, I am aware of the fact that slave owners were black, too. I am not even American, but as a person who had African American people in her family I care about the holiday. I know it is not my business, but I care about it. It matters to me.
All I did was quote the video and all this unnecessary discourse took place under my comment. 😩😩😩

So she’s a white chick now huh? Then why yall get so mad that a woman that look like this is played ancient Egyptian yall also called the actor black and said it’s black fishing lol you clowns are hilarious. Don’t even believe half the stuff yall say.
She's a sister. We so called blk people come in all shdes.
@@clarencewalker7379 definitely not a “sister”. More like a cousin
wonderful job celebrating what's the body count from this weekends celebration?
It's the fro and the twinkle in her eye for me!!!!😂😂😂
As a black person who’s parents are both black, I’m a descendant of white slave owners and slaves. Can I participate partially and not all the way?
🌟 Amanda Seales, is for sure the ‘ Angela Davis, of our time♥️🌟 please continue doing what you’re doing🌹🙏🏽♥️
Really? What has she done that you would equate her to Dr. Angela Davis? She didn't say anything all other black Americans haven't said. Please don't minimize the contributions of Dr. Davis just so Amanda could fit into her shoes. Wearing an afro is just not enough to be compared to the great Angela Davis.
But it is a nice 'fro❤
@@cherylvaughn768 I agree. But the condition of her fro does not place her on a level with Angela Davis.
You’re being silly ma’am.
@@GentleBreeze-ib9dz If your parents are Foundational Black American you should know the works of Angela Davis. If they are not, then I understand
She's probably 75% white
Juneteenth is an automatic day off for us no matter what others are talking about. Lets stop relying on a school system that was designed teach us to obey them.
😂
Thats what you're doing by promoting this. White liberal propaganda.
This holiday is a joke. We are not free Israel! Better wakeup from the lies and start researching and turn back to God
No LIES Told 🔑🎯💯
@@JasonWilliams-um2nt So you are THEM that believe that one of the first pedophile human traffickers’ Christopher Columbus actually discovered
#AMERICA…did they tell historical events in which diseases were spread rampant when they met the original settlers The Indigenous People?
The Hypocrisy is that more lies than truth were told openly throughout history. RESEARCH
SELAH
Except, there have been recentl cases in America where farms have been caught with slave labor held captive by armed guards. Any holidays for them?
It should be Juneteenth WEEK - starting on the 13th leading all the way up to the celebratory 19th👊🏿
Lol youre insane.
😊WE can make that happen without a federal decree. WE can just do it.
@@maryjanehenry4576 LET’S GET IT!!👊🏿✊🏿 - and Happy Juneteenth WEEK to ya!!
That would be so awesome 🙌🏾
Omg no one cares about juneteenth get over slavery already it didnt even happen to you or your parents or your grandparents or even your great grandparents. Its time to let the slavery thing go. White people didnt do anything to you its ok
Afros, Robert Townsend, Hollywood Shuffle. Ha, 4
No one care about Juneteenth 😂😂, no one fighting to steal Juneteenth so don’t worry . You can keep it all to yourself as long as I can get a day off 🤣
never on Earth have so few been giving so much with such dismal results......period.....enuf said
So fkng true. It pisses them off to hear it, but it needs to be repeated.
I just love this woman! She speaks the truth!
She’s patronizing af, and didn’t offer a solution. How is this “truth”, and how does this help us as a community?
To me she sounds just as racist as Hitler or a guy wearing a white Hood
She speaks hateful divisive garbage
❤ Loving the Afro 😊!
