Right now I'm focusing on Words of Love (Buddy Holly version) and two Beatles songs(I like other genres too) but I can't wait to get going on this one soon! I hope you keep this channel up! Thank you so much for what you do!

    I recently purchased the 'Rockabilly Lesson for Beginners' by Randy Richter and I have found this online course to be the BEST for this style guitar that I have found after more than one year of searching. It is comprised of several charts detailing basic music theory and TABS which clearly lay out the music for each lesson, about 30 video clips which are of the highest quality and clarity (much like his RUclips videos) and accompanying backing tracks played at different speeds to practice with. He explains each lesson clearly and with obvious care and while each video is straighforward - Randy is able to make each step of the learning process fun. If you are interested in a more in depth look at how to play Rockabilly music and you can play some basic chords already, I would highly recommend you check out Randys web site.
    For the record, I wasn't asked to endorse his site by anyone. Just wanted to take this opportunity to thank him for his great efforts and let everyone else out there know how helpful I have found his course to be.

    Is your travis picking course a good preparation to play this ( level of difficulty ? )

    • @ducktailcat
      @ducktailcat  4 года назад

      Hi Denis, I think so. It starts very easy and basic and at the end there is some Rockabilly Licks and also a light version of Cannonball Rag which is pretty advanced I would say.

    This song was actually NOT recorded at Bradley’s Barn. It was recorded at the Quonset Hut on what is now Music Row in Nashville. Everybody gets the Quonset Hut confused with Bradley’s Barn. Owen Bradley sold the Quonset Hut to Columbia Records in 1962 and Bradley’s Barn didn’t start until 1965.

    • @1959buddyh
      @1959buddyh 6 лет назад

      Quonset Hut is where Patsy Cline, Brenda Lee, Gene Vincent, and many others recorded. It was turned into a studio in 1955. I’ve been there and also RCA Studio B which is another historic and VERY important studio on Music Row.

      Thank you very much for the info! I'll correct that in my next video. I just took it from my Buddy Holly biography, but I guess I should've double checked.

    • @1959buddyh
      @1959buddyh 6 лет назад +2

      @@ducktailcat It's ok. They actually have the studios mixed up in the Buddy Holly books.. I used to think he recorded at Bradley's Barn until I went there and found out that Owen Bradley had several studios. The first Bradley's Barn burned down and he rebuilt it in the 70's I believe... the Quonset Hut is now inside of a building of what is now Columbia Records. They build the building around it. There used to be a house in front of it that was 1st used as a studio and the Quonset Hut was the filming studio. Then in 1955 he moved the studio to the Quonset Hut because the house was too small. Since then, the house was torn down and the Hut is still being used today!

    Buddy Holly is super underrated right now, especially with trash like Queen and Elton John getting movies made.
