Why was it every other Sunday? I guess I am so used to (when I watched TV) to count on seeing British comedy every Sunday night. They probably still play As Time Goes By as they have for years, decades even. Then there was The Vicar of Dibley (a personal favorite), Keeping Up Appearances, Moone Boy, IT Crowd, Spy and many others.
A shame PBS came out on regular TV once they went digital, with a channel specific for kids, while still having kids programing most of the day on the regular PBS channel and not have a British Comedy channel set up for that purpose. The arts and crafts/travel channel was kind neat though.

Blimey ! Thanks for uploading ! My all time favorite British TV comedy ! Acted & written to perfection ! CHEERS ! Though what's wrong with everyone knowing that Capt Peacock was once a corporal in the British Army ? After all, many officers have "come up thru the ranks" as it were. No shame is once being a lowly private, corporal, etc. It's one's overall service record that counts, eh what ??

I suspect that Corporal Peacock didn't 'come up' thru the ranks but the title of Captain was self-imposed - I think this is what was being implied by Mr. Goldberg.

      - It surly would have been a rare thing, being able to fill that void, as replacing a front line character is seldom successful.
Tebbs & Goldberg each had their charm, but neither captured me like crotchety old Granger, with a burr under his butt.
The only really successful replacement (In a British comedy) was the part of 'our Rose' in, ''Keeping up Appearances".
Might be just personal taste, but I liked the second one, much more.
