The friendship and banter between Mr. Humphries and Mr. Lucas was a major part in carrying the series. Once Trevor Bannister left, it just wasn't the same. And "MEN'S WEAR" never gets old.
And if any of you find these episodes too long, you'll find they'll ride up with wear.

They had the gall to remake this series in 2016. Suffice it to say, it sucked. I grew up with the original run 1972 (the year I was born) to 1985. My parents and I adored this. So happy to see it on RUclips. Thanks so much for posting this. My childhood memories thank you, too.

My mum in the early 70's worked in a store like this. When I was a little girl I used to be in the store with her on Sats I think sometimes...They had a ''canteen''...and my mum also worked on the ladies dept. (Sweets, in Stratford, if anyone remembers it...then part time in Fairhead's, Ilford). The dept store in Stratford paying system worked by ''barrels'' which the customers money was put in with the receipt, whisked around the store on little rails suspended from the ceiling, to one part of the store where the cash was paid, then the change was sent out again in return to the counter by this system. Sometimes I was allowed to ''pull'' the barrel to make it go....I can remember my mum actually fitting a lady for a corset in the fitting room...just like Mrs Slocombe!...Anyway, when this was first aired on uk TV, we used to guess which hair colour Mrs Slocombe would have in the episode we were just about to watch!
