    One of my favorite sitcoms. It's first episode was broadcast 11 years before I was born. And Peter Sallis was born 1 to 2 years after my grandparents. Rest in peace the departed cast and crew of this phenomenal show.

So odd to hear that on this series, because I get such a "sense of place" with these characters and this little village. Perfect music for "drilling", I was thinking. Ha ha! Last Of The Summer Wine is always being on TV in the UK - so I think more people prefer to watch it on TV (better quality picture and sound) instead of RUclips. But generally speaking, you are right - younger people prefer to watch comedy from their own time as its more relatable and "speaks the same language."

      @@Zionist-Occupied-Government Okay, I've been curious about this for a long time. In the UK you pay a license for your television set. Is this like a cable subscription, but instead of premium channels, it's just plain broadcast TV? Do you just pay once, when you buy the TV, or is it a monthly or annual fee?

    • @Zionist-Occupied-Government
      @Zionist-Occupied-Government 3 года назад

      @@lisagulick4144 As far as I know every house that has a TV inside must buy a TV license. I heard that for every TV that you have in the house you must also buy a license for as well.. and they are pretty expensive. The money goes to the BBC who are currently the UK propaganda pushers and more and more people are realising this. So really we pay money towards a cooperation who are also heavily funded by the UK Government, so the Government use this station for biased information by use of documentaries and live debates etc. Frankly the BBC is hated by many UK citizens and its days are numbered and many of us are refusing to pay this " fee " which we've had imposed on us for decades.. even if we dont watch the BBC we have to pay it or face prosecution

    • @lisagulick4144
      @lisagulick4144 3 года назад +1

      @@Zionist-Occupied-Government That sounds really unfair. In the USA, the theory is that the airwaves belong to all of us, so according to that theory, broadcast TV is free.
      Of course, in _practice_ it's the broadcasters who pay, in the form of a license from the Federal Communications Commission. This government agency determines what channels can be used for what purpose (the VHF frequency Channel One, for example, has always been used for military and emergency services; another, known as the Public Broadcasting Service [PBS], is supported entirely by grants and viewer subscriptions) as well as setting programming standards (such as what language is permissible on the public airwaves).
      The commercial networks pass the cost of their FCC license on to advertisers, who sponsor various programs. That's why when you watch an American TV program that's supposed to be an hour long, you get 20 minutes of commercials for Scarf-O Snacks or Ache-Away Analgesic Cream.
      Pay cable and online streaming services are rendering these facts obsolete even as I write this; I'm betting the same is true in the UK as well.
      BTW, whatever bad stuff the BBC has produced over the years, I still appreciate that it gave us Monty Python, Doctor Who, and of course Last of the Summer Wine!
