Great video, guys. I picked up the all black SSC819 and absolutely love it. Total strap monster. Great quality that is evident immediately in hand. The bracelet is solid, yes. And very comfortable. All of my complaints are far outnumbered by the positives. Keep up the good videos. Wear yours in good health.
I own a white "panda" Speedtimer, and wear it on a black and grey "Bond" OMEGA Nato strap. It is an excellent solar powered watch, and I highly recommend it!
Personally I love the size. There are very few "affordable" chronographs in the market that are less than 40mm. I wish they made it a bit thinner, maybe less than 13mm. but overall I think it's a good option out there. Another missed opportunity is the lume. They should have added lume to all the hour markers IMHO.
Great show guys! I really liked the addition of the pictures by TEEJ. You are going to make me think about a solar chronograph again. My last one which I gave to the oldest son was a Citizen 2100 that was beefy and my instant grab and go watch.
Yeah, I saw this model today $875 Canadian, the other one I wouldn’t mind that I saw this week is the Tissot Seamaster 1000 in orange silicone strap that is 300 m dive watch with rotating bezel and a 30 minute chronograph, I was blown away by that it’s a do everything kind of watch
On the fence about buying one of these. The Daytona-esque panda look is exactly what I've been looking for but im not sure how I feel about the date window. I also think something just looks a little weird around the case/lugs... I think maybe if the dial itself was just 1-2mm larger keeping the case similar size with a rounded endlink bracelet would help. To me the lug area needs to be more slender around the lugs (like the mechanical version is). Just seems like a tad to much case and not enough of that gorgeous dial! Might have to wait a year or so just to see if a tweaked newer version comes out.
The Blue diver at 2:43 is beautiful and looks like a better size than the Speedtimer. It is making my decision even harder now. At first i couldnt decide on the SSC813 vs 815 vs 819 but now thinking whether the diver one is better. They currently have a Save the Ocean line which looks really nicely designed....What do you think of the SSC675P?
The bezel is made out of steel. I wish there was a 42mm version. I want to get the SSC815. It reminds me the most of a 6139 model, in this case the blue 6139-6000.
The perception of Seiko mechanical watch pricing being too expensive now, I think, comes from the reality that they were insanely cheap for so long. Considering that almost nobody else makes almost entirely in-house watches for these prices points, that could put the move up-market into perspective. And if either of you want to look at other Seiko Chronographs for a better comparison to this recent Speedtimer reinterpretation, consider that Seiko also made the best quartz Chronograph movement ever made in the 7a28 and 7a38 back in the 80s. These were the first analog, quartz Chronographs, were entire metal movements and had 15 jewels! Seiko or (Grand Seiko) should make that movement again.
Hey Ryan, thanks for commenting. I'm not sure if you are familiar with the 'Scottish Watches Podcast' but we had a debate on this exact subject, let me know what you think ruclips.net/video/KgpKYqNeFaU/видео.html
I think a bit small, but I will go in and look at it live. Nice brand but as we all know they are not very good for resale. But I know who cares. I have the SSK003 gmt and it's nice for a GMT at the price. I also have a Seiko SSG010 and no issues at all.
I'm a really big fan of the new 39mm Speedtimers but I don't think that the razor wire type bracelet is doing it any good. I think it looks fantastic on a jubilee!
It is NOT a mecaquartz. The new V192 vs the V172 has five ticks per second instead of four, it has the power reserve function and the overall feel of the pushers is apparently less mushy-quartzy, but that's likely more in the case integration than in the movement itself. It will use 25% more energy to run the chrono, because in quartz a tick is a tick. And as I said before: the slaved 24-hour register is a cheap insult to horology...
I bought the gold dial JDM version Sbdl089 and absolutely love it. The dial is a muted gold, and has a sandy texture. Seiya Japan has it for $490! Only 2 micro adjustments is pretty weak tho
Hey Chris! The only thing I would honestly change is to have it slightly bigger. Thats just me. Can you try it on at an AD? You may change your mind and it fits great?

The 24h subdial is useless and the chronograph subdial is the smallest, very poor design. At 4:43 that stripe in the subdials holding the hand is so ugly, spoils, even more, the design of the subdials.
