I have had the SSC 911 for about 2 months. I noticed recently that I seem to pick it up to wear considerably more often than my other watches in my collection. I like the dial which is not too busy as the second hand marks are not on the dial. Certainly accurate enough and maintenance free. Only rub is the calendar which I can't see without my readers. A good watch especially for the price.
24 hour dial use for people whose countries track all time in 24 hours instead of twelve. I'm an American living in Shanghai, and all the time, I'm told of meetings at 1600, 1800, etc. That dial is super useful to me.
Hi Kirk, thanks for commenting. I have reviewed a few of these ‘mecaquartz’ watches and complained about the 24 hour dial every time. Thats tens of thousands of views. Your the first to comment that the dial is useful. So I will make sure I mention that the next time I review one… because I’m still going to comment that it’s useless for the vast majority of wearers.

I think they’ve nailed it with the bigger case size and IMO I don’t care what the chrono does and what it doesn’t because it’s the way it looks for me and it looks superb, great video 👍
Great review Sam; unfortunately for me I’ve found as I get older, my eyes aren’t what they used to be and I’m finding Chronographs too hard to read, but the layout/detail of this dial in the macro shots look fantastic! Also I’ve bought a few pieces from Sakura Watches (shipped here to Aus) and can also highly recommend them!
The V192 is not a mecaquartz caliber. Therefore the seconds hand doesn't flyback to 0, but you get the option to sincronize the seconds and minutes hands back to 0, so a major advantage.
@@CasualWatchReviewsI think you're confusing quartz and mechaquartz. Mechaquartz snap back into position immediately like a usual mechanical chronograph, because they have a mechanical function built in, quartz on the other hand swing back into place slowly (like this watch). So this is a usual solar quartz movement, not a mechaquartz.
Iv got two those uncle Seiko watch straps the chain mail type they look great on any watch I have adjusted the end links to fit other watches so can be adjusted with a grinder if carful.

I was looking at the 39mm white one a year ago. lucky i was busy and forgot about it. Just bought this 911 as my wrist is 7.2 inches too. love the red hand. I dont think too much about cheaper watch. If i like it im good.

Great review Sam and much appreciated! I was looking at the older 39mm model as my wrist is about 6.5 in but tbh prefer this newer model. Only grip for me is that the 41mm might be slightly to big on my wrist. What do you think? Cheers.
Yep, honestly I hate to say it but you may need to try them on. I have a 7.2 inch wrist so much prefer the larger one. But the previous version may just fit you perfectly. I have reviewed both versions on the channel.

The only way I would try this watch is if a third party made bracelets for it like they did for the 39mm version. Strapcode's oyster and jubilee bracelet really make up for the lackluster original bracelet on the 39mm.
What is that bracelet for the 39mm Speedtimer at 0:59? Do you have a link to it or at least the people who make it? It's a style of bracelet I have never seen before, sort of like a jubilee but chainmail.
I've found myself tempted by both this newer 41 mm and last year's release--SSC813 (39mm). I'm not sure which size I'd prefer for my 7 in or just under wrist, though I usually don't go over 40 mm. I think I like the hands on the 911 better. But I'm concerned about the 21 mm bracelet. Strapcode has what appear to be high quality replacement bracelets that fit the 813 with 6 micro adjustments, but if you don't get a good fit with the original 913 you're screwed.
Hey Ted, see what you think of this short I made l, game changer for the bracelet Needed Upgrade for NEW Seiko Speedtimer - Uncle Seiko Clasp #shorts ruclips.net/user/shortsqoAq33bNYVM?feature=share
I’m not convinced of the importance of that on this watch. I can’t imagine anyone who needs to track a fifth of a second who wouldn’t be better suited using a digital watch or a specific timing device. It’s purely an aesthetic thing to see a sweeping hand.
@@CasualWatchReviews either way it is a tool not only a time piece. All chronographs are intended for tracking elapsed time. It’s not to look like a mechanical watch it’s to be used as its intended purpose.
You're just making a general statement about chronograph watches so let me clarify. it’s athletics on a mechaquartz. If you’re interested I interviewed an Aviator in the Navy about the previous speedtimer with the same movement. It’s actually pretty useless as a ‘tool’ chronograph because of the way the sub-dials are used. So unless you’re actually timing just 60 seconds or using the Tachymeter for speed vs seconds then you’re better off using another type of timing device… like a stopwatch. There is no advantage to having a sweeping hand on this watch or the 24 hour subdial.
Nice watch for sure. Geez $457 USD and in Canadian dollars it's selling for approximately $900 CAD. We in the North are truly getting screwed. I wouldn't buy it at $900 as it's not worth it at that price.
Was close to buying the Panda version until I saw it IRL. The sunken/deep date, the different metal colors of the case and bracelet were hard passes for me (planned to wear it on bracelet). And the lug width and overall slightly lower build quality than I'd hoped for. Ended up chasing down a Dan Henry 1962 Chrono instead. Now THAT's a gorgeous watch 😊
I live in a country where time is always stated using the military 24hr standard (legacy of a 32-year military dictatorship), so a 24-hour sub-dial is useful.
This is interesting, so even though it’s so tiny on there it’s still useful? Have you ever used a watch that the entire dial is 24 hours, one revolution per 24 hours?
The case and dial is solid, such a beautiful piece. But the bracelet.... oh gosh. 2 Micro adjust, no half link, and very jangly. Plus if youre over 40 yr old, dont borther reading the date without your glasses.
Useless 24-hour dial and lack of ceramic bezel insert are dealbreakers to me. Not to mention seikos famous lack of qc. Also:MSRP at 700 $? Certina ds2 chrono is better and cheaper
I seriously never understood why any watch other than a pilots or field watch had 24hr complications. I don't mind 24 hr markings on the dial or chapter ring(s) but a sundial is just unnecessary
Nice looking, nicer size, but no running seconds is the deal breaker and sort of an insult to the design styling same for the stupid non-standard lug width, Seiko knows how to lose fans.
Hey Mark, absolutely everything about this watch (with the exception of it being a chronograph) is different than a speedmaster so I’m interested to know how you’re making that comparison?
Beautiful watch, but I don't use chronograph watches, hate them with burning heart, that permanent fixed hand in the 12 is an abomination, move only if I measure something and I never do but if I need, I'll use a better chronograph anyway like some of my G-Shocks. Hopefully this beautiful design (or similar) will be passed to another normal Seiko steel watches soon, then I'll be buying one for sure.
Some more niggles to not make it a Seiko advert: aluminium bezel inserts suck (they also make matte ceramic inserts now), as does a date at 4.30 position, and the brushing direction of the case does not match the bracelet. And its overpriced by at least 2x.
Obviously, let's say you work in a ... I dont know a cave, under mountain, space?... Some where you are not easily able to tell if it's day or night by a glance, then sure, 24 hour dial must be brilliant. But for the 99,99% of people it's absolutely silly and a waste of perfectly good complication dial
