I am so glad for you that Susan is on the mend and that you will soon be with her and with us back on MSNBC. The openness you both shared in that interview touched me deeply even though I have no skin in that game so to speak. I admire you more than I can say. Stay well, dear one, and come back to us soon.

@Frank Reynolds you are EVERYTHING that is wrong with this country. You should be removed to an island with the rest of your imbecilic kind, where you will have drop shipments of supplies, and the sound of each others rantings.
@@deb3376 To be completely honest we all react differently when something happens to those we love. It certainly doesn't mean we don't empathize with others going through the same situation. In this case I don't know any of those who got sick and died due to covid-19. My heart aches for them and the loved ones who suffer the loss of someone dear to them. I have taken covid-19 seriously from the beginning. I have had a son, daughter-in-law and 3 grandchildren who got very sick from covid-19. Thankfully, they survived the ordeal. My dear friends and neighbors weren't spared. It makes me that much angrier at Donald Trump who, by his own admission, downplayed the virus from the beginning. He continues to do so. My family and friends didn't have access to the same drugs he was given.
I will miss these fireside chats when they go back to studio broadcasting. They are so much more human. I hope they will choose to combine both in the future.
Poignant. Rachel and Susan, best of fortunes. It’s delightful when a “TV personality” shows their human side and their depth. I don’t watch for your image, although I like it, but that depth and humanity. It’s also lovely to see someone in love.
I just adore Rachel because she just seems so “real” and relatable. This makes me adore her even more. Her words about her love for her partner are so touching. I am thankful they are both okay.
Rachel, I doubt you’ll read this but just wanted to let you know that I’m so touched by your love for Susan and you giving this incredibly important message! ❤️ I have been with my partner for 15 years and have had to move back in with my elderly parents before the pandemic and she is a medical frontline worker and I barely get to see her now. It’s been rough and we’ve had to take extra precautions as to only see each other outdoors in the backyard since February and if she comes inside to just use the restroom she wears a mask and has to quickly exit. I just wish people would take all of this more seriously as it’s absolutely devastating, but feel grateful I haven’t lost anyone personally. Much love and many prayers for you and Susan and anyone dealing with this horrific virus! ❤️🙏
Thank you Rachel for your directness. A dear friend of mine listened to this airing. She's 79 yrs old with health problems. I've attempted over the months to get her to take better precautions with limited success. I've made masks and sent them to her but she has considered them a bother. She also admitted that seeing others not wearing them makes her think it's more hype than real. I sucked in a deep breath every time she's updated me on her social activities. ********She called me after listening to you and told me she "gets it now". Again thank you. You may have saved some lives and maybe that of my dearest friend.
Sometimes all it takes is a personal story. When it’s just statistics and reports on the news, it makes it easier to dismiss. That’s part of the problem with covid; people have to deal with it in quarantine and their experiences aren’t being seen by others. That’s why we need people like Rachel to talk about those experiences. I hope your friend stays safe.
@@davidaponte7521 She’s a journalist. You can disagree with her work although she doesn’t make stuff up. But how can you attack who she is just because you don’t agree with her?
Rachel, from the bottom of my heart...thank you. My fiancé was going to attend a large gathering with her family this Thanksgiving after a protracted campaign of guilt-tripping and gaslighting ("It's easier to just go and risk it than to be a piece of garbage with my whole family"). I had begged to the point of tears for her to reconsider to no avail. I showed her this video because it perfectly conveyed what I just couldn't put into words because thankfully, I haven't known anybody to get really sick yet. After a healthy amount of crying from both of us she agreed to stay home. I truly believe by sharing your story you will have saved lives. Bless you and Susan, may you both have good health and all the happiness in the world.
My grandpa taught me as a young girl, “Beauty is only skin deep, but ugly is to the bone.” And, “Pretty is as pretty does.” There’s “beautiful” people in this world. You’re one. I’m so glad to hear Susan is improving! And that you’re testing negative. What a nightmare you’ve both been through. Thank you for reaching out to us. You’re very missed.
Most gorgeous woman and soul, who, inside of her humble suffering, has prioritized concern for us. Deservingly blessed with being in love simply creates love, thank you.
Hi Rachel, this is coming to you from Australia. I and many Australians are watching what is happening in the US with disbelief and concern. I just wanted to let you know how amazingly brave and courageous I think you are. To share your story and put yourself out there in an effort to get the message about COVID resonating with others is truely inspirational. Thank you for your regular doses of reality.....just a shame so many in America seem to have been blinded by lies, theatrics and conspiracy theories put out there by people in power. Thank you, stay safe and I wish Susan a full recovery. BTW....you are beautiful without makeup 🙂
I agree about the makeup thing. You do not need makeup...I barely wear makeup...A little blush and that's it. I look forward to seeing you again in your news program.. You are missed...Take care of yourself.Stay well!!! TAKE CARE OF SUSAN AS BEST AS YOU CAN,BEING APART, WHILE TAKING CARE OF YOURSELF... 💖💞💞💞💖 .
My daughter is in Australia, since December 2019, trying to go to university. Since March, it's been an off again on again thing, mostly off. She agonized that she was wasting my money, or worse that someone in the family, me in particular because I work in a hospital, might die from COVID; but I insisted and continue to insist that she stay there, where, whatever you think of the Australian prime minister, Scott Morrison, and his perceived failures during the horrific bush fires (that seems like an eternity ago), at least he's not a covfefe moron, with utter disregard for the lives of his citizens.
Thank you for daring to be vulnerable. I wish I had felt for someone a fraction of the depth of your love for Susan. Best wishes for full recovery and blessings
This is probably the most honest and profound message on the pandemic and our attitude towards it. Thank you Rachel for doing this and hope to see Susan get well soon!
She really applies an historical perspective which MUST be demoralizing as I've lived through it. Strength in teamwork and many friends. Now... spread it to those who aren't famous LIKE ME!!!!
You are Amazing . Tttttthe One and Only Rachel Maddow !❤ We will have you and all your loved ones in our hearts and Prayers .Thank You for Trying to talk sense into all of the people not even trying to bend their ways from the before covid times. Selfish people .
I don't regularly watch you, I don't regularly agree with your opinions, but I want to applaud your willingness to show all of us strangers the "warts and all" of your personal life and fears to share a message that you feel is so important. My heart goes out to you and Susan (& so many others dealing with similar situations) for what must have been a tremendously heart wrenching time. Thank you for sharing your experience in hopes of saving others from having to go through similar or worse.
Rachel, you are one of the most intelligent, compassionate, understanding, thorough, and absolutely beautiful, journalists gracing the news front lines. You dont need make-up, you're beautiful inside and out. It's so sweet to listen to you express your love and care for Susan. It is truly heartbreaking to learn about whats been happening at home, and i sincerely hope and pray that Susan makes a full recovery, sooner rather than later. Sending love and care from Australia, to Susan, yourself, and your families and friends during these challeging heartbreaking times. Namaste 🙏🌻
We love you, Rachel! Thank you for being such an intelligent, honorable, inspiring and compassionate soul in the world (and in the news). My sister and her wife celebrated 25 years together! We are sending both you and Susan all the healing vibes!!! xx
Rachael, we love your caring spirit. We're sending all of our love to you and Susan. We wish her a speedy recovery. You stay safe because Susan needs you and so do we.

Ordinarily we in the audience or “viewership” only get to experience the persona of media, not the person. It is refreshing and pleasing to have this closer connection to a person behind the persona of one of my favorite media personalities. Please accept my best wishes for Susan’s full recovery, and grateful thanks for spreading such good advice.
Hi Rachael. I’ve been quarantined since March. I’m in the highest risk category. I’ve already had 11 life-threatening medical conditions. I understand what it’s like for Susan and I wish her a full recovery. My wife, children and grandkids have ganged up to prevent me from going to most things. I know that they are worried because they tell me all the time. Susan is lucky to have such a great partner. I’ve often wondered what it would be like for someone living alone to contract Covid.
I've been following Rachel since she was on the radio, and think she is one of the finest American journalists. I've spent a lot of my adult life having dinner with Rachel on the TV and she feels like family. So glad Susan is recovering. Sending positive vibes in her direction.
@Frank Reynolds ... and just like that, we have to remind some man-child that beauty is not what's outside, it's what INSIDE that makes a person beautiful. How depressing life must be for someone like you who focuses on outward appearances and seemingly fails to see the true beauty beneath the surface.
Seeing your pain over Susan's illness will make a lot of people think twice about gatherings at the holiday. Best wishes for her recovery. Thanks for continuing on thru this hard time.
Oh Rachel, dear Rachel. We love you so much, and you are so admirable for caring for Susan, through your fear and sadness. I hope she recovers completely and please be careful and stay safe, cause Susan is not going to be able to take care of you. Thank you for updating us, because even though you do not know us, we feel like we know you, and it is comforting to see you there and know you are ok. Thank you for your devotion to Susan. All I can say is, we all should have someone who loves us like you love Susan.
This should go viral. This is what America needs to hear. Real raw feelings and not charts and statistics. I pray Susan continues to improve and Rachel stays negative. 🙏🏾🙏🏾
I lost Debra, my wife, best friend, and soulmate 3 years ago to cancer. A piece of me died with her that day and now have to bear that loss forever. I would not wish that on anyone. I am truly happy for you and Susan that the worst did not happen. May you live a long and happy life together. Xx
Hi Steve, Sending you thoughts from Melbourne Australia. My heart goes out to you for your loss. May the universe take your bruised and battered heart and gently nurse it back to full health. 🐞🐞🐞
Steve I lost my, soulmate Steve 16 years ago Oct. 7. Also to Cancer. So I totally understand how hard it is to lose the one person that made you feel whole. There's still days that are harder than others. Hang onto the happy memories they will get you through. As long as you carry a part of her in your heart you will never be alone. Sending healing light your way. 🌈
I agree. I just adore her, and I have the utmost respect for the work she has done throughout her career--but especially in holding the Trump administration accountable. She's a national treasure.
When it was first announced that Rachel would be quarantining due to a close contact, who had tested positive, my first thought and prayer was “Please don’t let it be Susan.” I lost my partner of 20 years to cancer, but I got to be alongside her every step of the way. So I totally get the sense of how helpless, scared and desperate one would feel when Covid protocols prevent you from being at the side of your one true love while she battles a deadly virus. I am so sorry that the two of you have had to directly experience this killer virus but we are all elated to hear that Susan is on the path to recovery. I speak from the heart when I say that, when you are finally able to be with her again, please give her a hug from all of us. Much love to you both! ❤️🌈❤️
I want to follow her requests & make her feel safe by not gathering with my family for Thanksgiving. I feel like that would give her far more comfort than a hug right now. I feel like she'd go to bed tonight & actually sleep if she knew that everyone in the world had heard her & listened
1) You are absolutely stunning without makeup and I am so jealous 2) I cannot imagine how hard it has been for you to be separated from Susan while she suffers with Covid, and I am so relieved to hear she is better! Love and health to you both ❤️
@@CoolGobyFish Maybe you need to take a long, hard look at yourself and find the grace that was given to you at your birth. You must have a very sad life without it.
A moving and honest insight on the impact of this awful virus: no less than we'd expect from one of the best in the business. Thanks Rachel, and best wishes for Susan making a full recovery.
A woman's beauty is not acknowledged by what the make-up can do, but by the heart she carries within her. Rachel truly has a heart for all people and most importantly Susan. I'm thankful for women like Rachel and the empathy she carries for all

Rachel: thank you for expressing so clearly what millions of us have also experienced this year within our own families. Your words were achingly familiar, and your message was powerfully delivered, as always. You are a beacon of integrity, intelligence, and plain old human realness. The only thing I know about Susan is that she is loved dearly by one of the most admirable women of this generation, which tells me that she must truly be a thing of awe. Wishing her a speedy and full recovery, and peace to both of you in the coming days.
I am not a person who likes physical contact with other people. I evade hugs and keep people at a distance because I'm not comfortable with showing affection. That said, this is one time that I wish I could give a hug to Rachel. This is me, sending a virtual hug to you Rachel. Please know how much we love and care for you and Susan. 💕
The more I see of Rachel Maddow, the more I hear her speak, the more impressed I am of the person. I cannot believe I am the same age as this amazing woman. Thank you to Rachel Maddow for helping me to learn more about our political system, the climate, Covid-19, and thank you for (generally speaking) the humor she brings to otherwise horrific and gobsmacking situations. I am thrilled she has found the love of her life and that Susan is on the mend (and Rachel has remained well). And, thank you for succinctly addressing how "important" our wants versus our needs have changed this year. One Thanksgiving celebration without extended friends and family is not worth the possible ramifications. Much love and hope for both woman to be healthy and together for decades to come.
In tears right now, my husband is lying in ccu recovering from Covid. He is not out of the woods yet. He has had to endure ventilator, trach tube, 2 chest tubes, dialysis and more. It will take months for him to recover. My whole family had it. This nightmare started October 13th. Please people I beg you. Don't risk it! I pray no one has to walk in my shoes. Please stay safe. We did everything we were supposed to do, and we still got sick. Please don't take stupid chances.
Timely and important message from someone who genuinely cares about her audience. Her intelligence, emotional generosity and incredible communication skills make her radiant. Lucky Susan!
So very true, but how about those who have no voice and resources to defend themselves. Report of domestic abuse in children during pandemic dropped by 43,000 cases. That is disturbing. Especially the fact that alcohol consumption is on the rise during the pandemic. The long term mental health impact of this lockdown will be astronomical. There has to be a middle and smart way to handle this problem. As Rachel said sometimes you don't have that choice and many don't. Not only from the virus but also from the adverse impacts of policies caused by the virus. My two cents.

Is it just me, or are these "at home" recordings the best! Kids and pets and spouses walking in. Noises that need to be attended to...love it.

I hope Susan gets better quickly..my heart goes out to you both.

Ratna, you're very close to a bigger world. Come join us.

@Cindy Brewer I dislike Rachael Maddow and her show, but Making fun of someone’s looks is hitting below the belt. Very mean of you.
Thank you for your wisdom. Many ppl, including me, needed to hear this. A whole new perspective that is unimaginably difficult to bear.
