Here are the best boots for under 200 bucks! Did you know that good quality boots can indeed be bought for under $300? Here's a quick checklist for how I decide on my favorite boots.
1. A Goodyear welt
This means instead of the upper and sole being stitched together, they're both stitched to a welt in between them, which makes the boot way easier to resole and way more water resistant. This extends the boots' lifespan.
2. Full grain leather
Not bonded leather, not genuine leather, full grain leather is made from the outside of the animal's hide (the bit that faces the elements) and it ages the best. This extends the boots' lifespan.
3. A shank
That's a hard piece of material that goes under the arch. It provides arch support, stability, and helps the shoe maintain its shape as it ages. This... also extends the boots' lifespan.
4. A flat, yet grippy, sole
This is way more subjective, but I just find flat rubber soles to be more versatile than chunky Commando soles.
5. Free shipping & returns
Especially if a company's based online!
1. THURSDAY BOOT COMPANY
These guys tick all these boxes, plus their flagship Captain has this great dress boot/work boot hybrid aesthetic that makes it go with just about any outfit. They've also got moc toes, chelseas, plain toe service boots, almost any style you could want, and it's all under $200.

2. BECKETT SIMONON
I love their Dowler Cap Toe boot, but they've got a ton of other boots as well that are resoleable, are made with full grain leather, have nice flat soles, and cost under $200 - when you use my discount code STRIDE, that is. Note that you'll have to wait a couple of months for them to arrive.

3. JOHN DOE SHOES
A made to order company that comes up with astoundingly well made boots in a huge variety of leathers, from Horween Leather Company to CF Stead. They're MTO in Mexico, which keeps everything around the $200 mark.

4. THOROGOOD MOC TOE
An American classic, this shoe is safe for a variety of work situations (shock resistant, slip resistant, oil resistant sole), plus it has a Goodyear welt, a shank, and full grain leather.

5. DANNER BULL RUN
This isn't a Goodyear welt, but I find them more fashionable than Thorogood's moc toe, plus the sole is super soft and it's very lightweight. It's probably the closest to a sneaker on this list.

6. YRX APOLLO BOOT
With a cashmere wool upper with leather toecap and counters, this is a really unusual boot that's gotten me more compliments than any of my other boots. Seriously. It's Blake stitched, not Goodyear welted, but that keeps it flexible and lightweight.

7. INDONESIAN BOOTS
Kind of a broad category, but companies like Santalum, Sagara, Chevalier, Txture, and Junkard made astonishingly good quality, hand made shoes for under $400 when they'd cost over $600 if the same boot was made in Europe. Santalum and Chevalier are your best bets for under $200, just know the shipping costs and wait time can be a b*tch.

Havent watched yet but I already know Thursdays is on this list!
I live in Indonesia and I own 3 boots from 3 different local cordwainers. All of them are below $200 and the quality of the leather and their craftsmanship blow me away. The best part is most of local cordwainers here offer made-to-order boots. So you can go really high and you can really low and everything in between.
Definitely! Also, I get the whole 'support your country's economy' thing but I really feel like buying Indonesian is helping to support skilled, niche artisans in a way I seldom do with other boot purchases
Stridewise I agree with you Nick. Thanks a lot for mentioning Indonesian boots. I'm sure that this video will help Indonesian bootmaker community in one way or another.
Greetings from Malaysia. Please recommend who I can order from sir.

One of your best videos....thanks Nick!!
Thanks Joe! This was a ton of work.
Thanks for the review, I have just recently gotten into using boots more often than just wearing them for work purposes. The first real boot that I bought is the Thursday boots, can't wait to try them on!
Awesome video! People need to know more about those top quality options out there. Thank you!
Glad you liked it Bob!
I've spent over $1000 on Thursday Boots!! My first pair was TERRACOTTA's lol, then the Capt. Black Matte's, Diplomats Burnt copper, Capt. Tobacco's, and Chelsea Legend Black Matte's 🥾🥾
I respect a man who knows what he likes!
Awesome video. I am very fussy with boots and your boot requirements are spot on with what I look for as well. I just stumbled across Thursday Boots a few months ago and will be ordering from them soon. Nice job!
Awesome! Glad you liked it Jeff, enjoy the boots
Great as always nick! Maybe we can get a review on those blunnies (blundstones) or that thursday jacket :)
Yeah I'll get on the blundstones!
Seeing you're a fan of Thursday, their Diplomat Moc Toe is fantastic. It is more low profile than other brands and is one of my most comfortable boots. Love your content.
I'll check it out!
Great video! Once again, a thorough review on $200 and below boots.
I'm sure that most guys like me appreciate the honest review on quality boots that the average guy can afford. I'm a Thursday fan boy! Great quality for the money. Great selection in so many colors and leathers along with really good customer service.
Have you thought about doing a review on boot socks? Thanks again!
Hey David! Glad you like the video man. Yeah the variety of leathers with Thursday is a really good aspect. I do think about doing boot socks, it sounds so boring, but I got a pair from Mack Weldon that are absolutely dreadful which made me realize there is such a thing as a bad boot sock lol, so I should think on it
Base on your review of the Thursday Captain boot I purchased a pair from Amazon. They have lived up to the hype. I purchased a pair in my normal shoe size (14m) and they fit great with a heavy wool sock. The heel is a little loose when wearing a cotton blend sock but they’ll work.
I live in the northeast rural mountain state with four seasons. I’m an outdoor photographer and will be using this boot for this purpose. I believe it will hold up except in the most severe weather conditions. Break in,period was 2 hours and they feel great. The boots weigh in at about 4 pounds. You should include the weight of the boots in your review. The weight of a shoe is very important to older people like me.
P.S. BTWNot all young people buy boots....
Awesome video like always. Would you please make a video about that Terracotta Thursday boots? I already have a brown one but I'm thinking to get a terracotta as well.
You know I don't know, I always feel like doing a video on a boot I've already reviewed with a different leather might be boring for people to watch?
Welcome back indeed the answer to my questions thanks

Awesome video dude. I wanna know where you got that shirt it’s sick!
Oh that's Teddy Stratford! The NYTD blue. It's got a zipper under the buttons lol but it's made to fit athletic frames, I like it
Stridewise thanks for letting me know! Sucks about the zipper but she looks good on ya 🤘
oh dang! thank you so much for this video! broke bloke right here so this is a big help
Broke bloke haha, I live to serve you Andrew
Great job as always! As if I need another reason to add to my collection. Nonetheless, your reviews are appreciated and will consider these.
I have a pair of matte black Captains. I sort of regret buying that color, but I still love the boots. Great video and thanks for introducing other affordable companies to us.
You got it! Hope you found something you like.
I have Thursdays Boot co. Burnt Copper Captains, Diplomats and a Leather racer Jacket from them. I think you are right on to add Thursdays to this list. I have even had to exchange a pair and the customer service is amazing!! Loving everything I have gotten from them.
I just bought the burnt copper diplomats (and matching belt) and I'm so excited.
Another fine video my friend. The criteria you used to select your ‘Best boots under $200’ is simply stellar!! How can anyone go wrong purchasing any of the boots you’ve identified. I can’t imagine how much time you invested in the production of this video, but I for one, am very appreciative. Many thanks and kudos to you on an excellent video!!...Ed
Ed, so glad to see you. Yeah you might have noticed there was a two week gap between videos for this one, it took a lot of work. Hope people like it!
Awesome video as usual! Really have my eyes on a pair of those Dowler boots from Becket Simonon. In your experience were they true to size? Or should the usual size .5 down advice apply?
Hi would you please be able to do a video on durable leather boots for hiking, jungle and that sort of purpose
Love your boot reviews and it was these that convinced me to get a pair of Captains (Arizona Adobe) which I'm liking alot. Will you be doing a review on Wolverine's BLVD boots, also at $199?
In 1994 I bought a pair of Danner boots to wear while I was in the military. I need to have a new sole put on them but they have been all over the world and kept my feet comfy.
Hey brilliant video!!! Was just wondering if you could maybe do recommendations of made in Europe boots for the people on this side of the pond :)
I am no expert in that field I'm afraid, Martins!
I am very happy with this content.
Awesome! Thanks Victor that means a lot :)
I've been really happy with Rockport, and for slipons winter the Merrell mock, I just wonder you're opinion on those. I feel like I can sprint in them, but also dress them up...
Great great roundup. Like to see a best boots for under $500.
That's most of them haha I don't much care for boots over $500. Although I do love Alden and Dayton and Whites...
Just got the captains with the storm king. They're almost perfect, just need a break in.
Great video. I just bought a pair of Wolverine BLVD in rugged leather (rough out). I’m very pleased. 20% off and an extra $10 discount. $150! I like the last better than my Thursdays. I wouldn’t get their smooth leather however - has a reputation for wrinkles. But the rough out boots are fantastic.
Roughout is the best, I'm enjoying my Red Wings with it. Yeah I don't love the look of BLVDs to be honest, they seem flimsy, going with roughout was a good choice
Would love to see what u think about the danner bull run non moc toe.
Made a whole video, Calvin! ruclips.net/video/w7KIgKwGuGw/видео.html enjoy

Happy you highlighted Indonesian boots. All my favourite boots are from Indonesian companies and shipping is actually more reasonable than American brands for those of us still down under ;)
Hey that's true! Hadn't thought of that.
Thought on Wilcox boots?
I tried to order the Beckett Simonon, but can’t find where to apply your discount code. Not sure if it’s gone.
Check out the Italian brand Velasca! Pls review!
Hi Nick. Have you seen the 3 goat skin boots being offered by Billy Tannery in UK? Look nice…especially the green.
Haven't yet seen them but thanks for the tip Robert!
Nick, just wanted to say I'm a fan of your videos and watching this one I noticed you're wearing a Filson Macinaw Cruiser! Right on! I'm a key holder at the Filson, Boston store, would love to have you in sometime!
-Geoff M.
Geoff M! How lovely of you to reach out, I'm so glad you like the channel. I'm planning reviews of the Filson Mackinaw, Journeyman, and leather briefcase. Kind of wish I'd made friends with someone at Filson before I dropped all this money on them but hey, email me anyway? I'm nick@stridewise.com!
Do you find raw denim stain your boots? I'm thinking about getting some red wings but unsure if they are a bad idea with new raw denim
I’ve got 2 pairs of Beckett Simonon boots arriving next week - I hope i like them as much as you like your Dowelers. Crossing my fingers! Man those Dowlers need Renovateur so bad LOL
Yeah I lent them to a buddy who stomped all over the French countryside in them and they got real beat up. "Make sure you use shoe trees, I need these to look good for a video," I asked him. Did he listen? No.
Hey Nick. What is your opinion on Wolverine's BLVD line of boots?
What about Trask boots and shoes? Are they any good??
Stridewise I love your honest reviews, in fact I got some Red Wings because of you and now want more boots..!! Sorry to hijack this post to ask a question.....could you please do a review on boot sizes. By that I mean could you get a selection of shoes and boots people might have and say how they fit, what size they are for you etc so we can be better informed of what size to order.
For example in Asics trainers I'm a UK 7, my Red Wings are a 6 as the 6.5 was just too big, Dr Martin's I'm a 7 but they are slightly big but 6.5 was too small. My foot is probably just under a standard 7 so I'm trying to work out what I would need in a Thursday and Truman boot 👍👍👍😀
I think that might be a boring video but it's a good idea for an article on my site! I'll add it to the list.
Nice video!
I have a question about goodyear welts. I been doing some research, but I'm still confused. I have been looking at some goodyear welted boots to buy again, but I have noticed that some of the claimed good year welted boots don't have stitching on the bottom only the top (mostly on wedge boots, some rubber Vibram sole). So I came to the conclusion that it is only welted to the midsole then cemented to the outsole. Is that still considered good year welted or stitchdown? You did mention that the thorogood is, but I would like a deeper understanding.
I believe that to be considered a Goodyear Welt, the stitching must stitch the insole to the welt which in turn is stitched to the outsole. The only other possibility of the boot you describe is if the stitching to the outsole is done via an invisible stitch. This is a process where the leather of the outsole is pulled back slightly, to allow for invisible stitching to the outsole. The part of the outsole which is pulled back is then glued to the upper of the shoe. I would think that this process is highly unlikely in a boot, as it’s primarily done with leather outsoles for aesthetic purposes only. I’m not a shoe expert, but I’ve watched a ton of RUclips videos on the production processes of shoes and boots. Hope this helps.
The purpose of a goodyear welt is to have the sole be made easily replaceable by a cobbler. Although wedge soles are glued, that doesn't make them any lesser than a leather or rubber stitched-to-the-welt sole.
If you are afraid of the idea of having glue keeping your shoe together, keep in mind that even a traditionally goodyearwelted shoe is technically still a cemented shoe: the welt is sewn onto a canvas gemming which in turn is glued to the bottom of the shoe. If that glue wears off, the sole will come off like any cemented shoe. But the chance of that happening is low so you needn't worry much.
In the UK, Justin Reece are top drawer, great designs of dress boots for sub $150
I love lists
My set up is always 4 pair of eyelets and the rest are speed hooks. I can't stand any less speed hooks becuase it takes time harder to tie. Too bad not many come with this setup, so I go for red wing blacksmith and iron ranger. I wish manufacturers put more speed hooks on their boots.
I’d love to see Thursday Diplomat vs Thorogood Moc Toe vs Red Wing Moc Toe comparison. I’ve been very happy with Thursday Boots and interested in the Diplomat, which looks to be even more comfortable and has a lower toe in front.
check out rose anvil! he just did a whole series on those exact boots
I was spoiled living in Madrid. I was able to have all my shoes and boots custom made. Still in the studio I would wear hiking boots. Back in Canada I’m still wearing my Spanish made shoes and boots for the ballet and the opera. I just got a pair of Blundsones. Wore them right out of the box for a week. Had a really hot end of summer day slipped back into my favourite sneakers... felt a bit uncomfortable??? I’m sold on the Blundsones.
I'd like to see you check out Solovairs sometime. NPS/Solovair used to manufacture Doc Martens (which I know you're not a fan of) back when Docs were worth their salt. Unlike Docs, however, they don't have that yellow stitching and have a few more versatile and less in-your-face-teen-punk styles. I've read only good things about them online.
Yeah it's on my list! For sure this year
You mentioned you have the Thursdays in terracotta. I do too. How do you care for that leather? Thursday's website says not to use any products on it.
@AaronSchimid - To clean these leathers we recommend using a damp rag to wipe them down, as well as a Horsehair Brush to remove any dirt on the surface. Because these leathers are so unique, we do not recommend applying any cleaning or protective products to them. If any additional cleaning is required, we recommend visiting your local cobbler so they can handle this professionally. Hope this helps. Please feel free to contact us directly if you have any other questions! Best, Kendra from Thursday
Im getting those captains
Are there any long boots that you could recommend to me?
i'll second the John Doe recommendation . I now own 4 pair mostly shoes and a chukka. construction is solid maybe not as precise as Allan Edmonds but they look good and feel good . b iggest flaw I've noticed is their brogue work can be a touch unclean but you have to look close to realize it. and they can customize pretty much Any Thing you ask for. turn around time is usually under a month. once when they introduced a whole new model it was 6 weeks, but they also made 2 others at the same time. and definitely check out the 3 for 2 deal.
Yeah some of my stitching on the John Doe Shoes is a bit uneven but like, it's phenomenal for the cost and i'd be happy with them even if they were a hundred bucks more expensive.
@@Stridewise i'm not sure about $100, that makes the field a bit deeper. but at $220 for some leathers and if you plan ahead the 3 for 2 deal is a wonder
Do you think yuo could make a similar video but about brands available in EU? It's really hard to get a decent quality products here in central EU and many great brands don't bother to ship internationally and stick to their country of origin.
Dude has real good taste
Thanks Brandon!
Thursday is the king of the under $200 boot. I haven’t seen any one come close to them in terms of the quality to price ratio.
@Mafioso 1963 I own two pairs. I don’t know how you use them but I rotate mine, I work indoors, and I live in a mild climate so that probably helps.
Redbacks boots should be on the list.
I’m surprised you are not covered with bruises from tripping the way your shoes become untied so often.
Hey Nick! I loved this video man! Any idea if those Indonesian bootmakers are able to make larger sizes? 13 or thereabouts? I fear they might not have lasts(the wooden foot thing they make the boots are are called that right?) that large on hand. Of course I'll just have to email some and ask, but since you're a larger fella yourself you might know!
Yep Viktor those are called lasts, I'm just a size 11.5 but I think if you check out those companies I mentioned you'll definitely find someone who can make a size 13. I mean that's not THAT big
@@Stridewise That's what she said! Wait what?... Yea, it's not grotesque or anything, but going by what is available over here in Europe you'd think it was. Almost every brand stops making shoes at size 46eu, and as you mentioned being a cheapskate (or just poor) I can very much relate to that, which makes it even harder since I don't want to pay full retail if possible. If only my feet stopped growing one size earlier life would be gravy...
@@MrNimurai haha that's too bad for Europe but I don't think you'd have trouble in Indonesia. You've got like 5 companies to ask and the odds are in your favor I think
Review the j.crew Kenton cap toe
Is that an order?
@@Stridewise absolutely! I wanna see how they compare to Thursday boots
Hey Nick. What is your opinion on Wolverine's BLVD line of boots?
Still gotta try em!
Jim Green boots from South Africa. They have several under $200. Not the fanciest but they’ll last 20 years.
Just filmed a review of them yesterday!
Damn it nick, stop blowing up the spot
I don't think you're using that term right what are you trying to say Leo
_Do_ Thursday Boots use a shank? I’ve heard conflicting information on that point.
I have personally called and asked that question to Thursday Boot Company. All Thursday Captain boots have a steel shank.
Yeah they have a shank!
Yes! In this style, we use a steel shank. Feel free to reach out to us directly if you have any other questions! Best,
Kendra from Thursday
For your thursday boots, I have an issue where after wearing it for some years the right boot hits and injures my right ankle. Im new to the boot owning so is this something I can just bring to a cobbler to fix and what should I ask for? I don’t know what to do any tips from anyone are appreciated
I don't really know what you mean when you say the boot 'hits' your ankle? What do you mean?
@@Stridewise The side of the boot rubs against my ankle and leaves it bruised by the end of the day
Can you wear those yxr boots in the rain and wet weather?
Nah, i wouldn't. It's more for looking snappy than trudging through muck
Stridewise thanks!
Have you made an under $500 video recently? If not, I would appreciate one. Pretty well set on something like a pair of C&J Snowdons (I know probably going to come in at over $500) and White's Main Street in suede. But would like to know if there are other alternatives I should consider.
Thanks! you're the second person to ask me that, I didn't think there'd be that much interest. Helm is a pretty good company, I think Truman is under $500, Red Wing of course is fantastic.... I'll come up with something!
@@Stridewise Surprised to see Truman get your recommendation, really into their look and lots of plain toe combat soles with hard wearing leather options but have seen a lot of negative feedback on their boots on the goodyearwelt reddit, apparently they have a lot of issues with poor finishing and construction, with lots of people sending boots back and receiving similarly poorly finished boots. White's was suggested as a good alternative but I ended up seeking out something with veldtschoen construction for increased waterproofness and for a medium brown leather boot with a plain toe it pretty much narrowed it down to the Snowdon. The other plus was the last on the C&J looked to be a fair bit sleeker, less, chunky workboot in style which I felt would work well to dress up and down. My day to day look in boot season includes wool/tweed dress pants as well as chinos and denim so wanted something weather resistant to be actually function as a boot for Canadian winters but not something that would require me to change out of at risk of looking silly once inside. Anything you would suggest with veldtschoen construction or compare to the C&J Snowdon?
DEXVD I owe you a longer answer but I agree, I actually would never recommend Truman over whites /nicks /viberg /Dayton i just thought Truman was under 500 and more solid than red wings, helm, Allen Edmonds etc it toughness is what you want
. Maybe Truman is over 500 tho in Egypt vas’s nah
@@DEXVD Checked and Truman is under 500. Yeah so I'd say if you can't get White's or Dayton or Viberg or Nicks then Truman is OK for the price, issues notwithstanding. But that's just my opinion
@@Stridewise Have you reviewed many of the British bookmakers or do you stick more to the service boot/work boot stuff? I think I remember you doing some chelseas in the past. Anything like Herring, Crockett & Jones or Cheaney?
I have a pair of Chippewa Apache lace ups that are awesome too
Nick - what do you think about the heel-tilt of the Thursday boots? I actually own two pairs - one pair of Captains and one pair of the chukkas. For one thing I love the look and durability of both pairs. However the comfort just isn't all there for me. 'Walking on a board' sounds about right here. But the thing I hate the most is the heel is higher than the footbed so when I'm standing up I'm tilted forward. I find this the most uncomfortable part. I never hear anyone mentioning this - is this common to boots or just a Thursday Boots thing? Thanks and love the vids man!
Big Straz
Which other boot brands have you owned?
@@ianturnbow7011 I bought a pair of the Wolverine Kaden Chukka. I loved them at first but over time they became very uncomfortable. I also went and tried on the Higgins Mill in store and did not notice a heel-tilt. These are the most comfortable boots I've ever tried on but at the time they were just too expensive for me and I wanted something that looked a little more casual. Right now I'm looking for a durable, comfortable pair that are more on the casual side. I also purchased an Allen Edmond's Chelsea that I use everyday for work but this pair feels much more like sneakers than the kind of boot feel I'm after.
@@bigstraz Usually the $300-$400 price point is when you start getting into higher quality and often big brand companies.
Allen Edmonds and Red Wing are definitely thought of as an entry into better quality boots than low quality cement construction boots.
The Higgins Mill was around 50%+ off from the AE online store as factory seconds. A bunch of sizes were in stock about a month back. No sense in paying retail for AE.
@@bigstraz
The reality is you'll have to shell out a decent amount of cash for a legit boot. If you really take care of the boot (clean, condition, etc.) then you'll get your money's worth. If the soles are blake stitched or goodyear welted they can easily be re-soled. Even some boots with a stitch down construction can be redrafted (e.g. Danner Boots).
not sure if i got too small of a size, but my thursday boots dont fit me very well and are very uncomfortable
Sounds like you got the wrong size!
Maybe cause of Canadian weather, but all my soles on my Thursday split up noose and had to brough them to cobbler, so no more for me. :/
Hello Nick, What is your all-time favorite boots?
Right here! ruclips.net/video/3Y7_Bu7XGB0/видео.html I'd swap Truman for White's, though.
Stridewise, have you heard of Padilla 415 work boots? I see them with a price of $85 on eBay. Claims to be hand made with full grain leather in Leon Mexico.
$50 boots? Damn.
@@Stridewise Dirt cheap! I'm buying them, worth a shot.
Yeah, I see where you found them cheaper.
@@delbertrohrbach4734 So weird they can call it a Goodyear welt at that price. But they say it's heat affixed so i feel like it's not reeeeeally Goodyear welt. Like the same way Doc Martens say they have Goodyear welts but it's really hard to resole them
@@Stridewise Good point but I already ordered them so I will find out. It's not going to break the bank so I took a chance. The economy in Mexico isn't doing all that well, so I figured it's possible $50 dollars in their economy isn't something to sneeze at.
What about Meermin?
They're over $200
sir u may tries others boots from indonesia.such as hidalgo boots, prof.barnets, onderhoud.handmade... all from west java indonesia...we are welcoming you to riview them...thank you 🛠️respect local pride
Blake stitched shoes can be resolved by the majority of cobblers in the US that are worth a damn. They can only be resolved 2 maybe 3 times so a Goodyear welt is better and more durable
What do you think about CAT boots? I heard the brand is owned by Wolverine 🥾🥾🤔
Why are the pants so short on the boot it just looks odd?
I just can't learn to like moc toes. I don't know why but they just never look flattering to me. Curious why others like them so much.
I think it's that they go with t-shirts more easily. some people find the stitching less irritating? i don't know all the reasons haha but they're verrry informal, that's the upside for a lot of people who can't find boots to wear with t-shirts
Can anyone give feedback about Rhodes boots? I don't find them sold many places but Huckberry sells them and they sell mostly high quality stuff. They have Whites, Nicks, Truman, ... along with the usual mid range suspects like Danner, Wolverine, Redwing, Rancort, ...
I've got a review coming up! Email me and I'll send you the script if you like
Stridewise I have no idea how to email anyone on RUclips. My kids probably do however. 😅. I'd love to see the script. I hope they are good boots because their sale price is quite good.

Chevalier, sagara, junkard, txture and many more Indonesian boots Are Created by young Generations boots maker. So thanks for expose Indonesian boots👍
I'd be careful with thursdays. After some years, its not the leather upper or the sole that will fall apart but the foam insole, which is difficult if not impossible to replace by a cobbler. Stick with boots with leather insoles such as Red wings that will last longer
Thursday sends you new ones bro

Everyday wear can vary between each person and if after a few years the insole has worn in we are happy to send over a replacement pair of insoles. You mention that the becketts are “resolable blake.” Well, all blake stitch shoes are able to be resoled. Most blake stitch shoes are “blake rapid” stitched and aren’t any more difficult than gyw to resole. You just have to find a cobbler that is familiar with more than just gyw. Gyw isn’t automatically better than every other construction type and there are many very high end shoes makers that use blake (like rancourt and co)
Yrx coupon doesn’t seem to work :(
son of a... let me get a hold of them
OK so this is weird because I tried it and it didn't work, I freaked out and emailed them, they told me that it does work but only one time per customer. I went to get a screenshot of it not working for me, but then it was working for me! So, what's going on I'm not sure but try refreshing the page, clearing your cache, and using a different browser in that order if it keeps not working.
@@Stridewise Thanks for getting back to me! Didn't work on my phone or macbook but did work on my iMac. Thank You!
This is my first video, and nothing makes me believe someone more about the quality of a boot more than someone having two pairs from a company, and both have obvious signs of wear.
Glad someone likes how worn in my boots look, Aaron! Some people get mad at me for it haha
@@Stridewise Presumably the same people who walk like ducks so their shoes don't get a crease🤣🤣🤣🤣 boots (even dress boots) are still, boots. And should have some signs of wear, otherwise, just buy some dress shoes imo
the quality of many Indonesian manufacturers of various products is astounding for the price....musical instruments ...shoes watches etc...i have gotten over my fabrication snobbery.... excellent repot btw
Do beckett simonon fail your quality test be cause they are Blake stiched?
It's Blake Rapid, so it can be resoled. So it's not that big a deal. It's very close to being the same thing
I ONLY WISH!!! I wear a size 8AAA (!!!) shoe. If I can get a pair of work/outdoor boots for under $700, let me know where!
That. Is a narrow foot. Dayton, White's and Nick's do custom work boots for that price range. Talk to them! I have a discount code with Dayton too
May be its just me but I wore Thursday Boots for 30 minutes and it was blister city.
Are they one of the rugged leathers? Those give me blisters
@@Stridewise it was the rugged leather one. I returned it and ordered sneakers (not Thursday) for the spring/summer weather of CT. Will order again come august.
Correction:
Padilla Style 415 boots search for Padilla work boots on eBay then they show up on the list.
Thursday boots shanks are plastic. That was important to me as I travel a lot and didn't want to take off boots for a steel shank.
It's steel! I just heard back from their CMO. He says they always have been. I read about people saying they don't have to take them off at the airport, but I just take it from Thursday themselves when they say it's steel
@@Stridewise I did contact their customer service and they said otherwise. They said their own employees wear them right through TSA Pre-check. This was specific to the Captain model.
Thank you for pushing newbies away from Thorogoods and hopefully supressing the demand for a while. :)
The outro music volume is very high compared to you talking.
Is it? Damn it, I thought I fixed that. Sorry man
That red flannel shirt was oversized!!
I talk at length about the sizing here haha ruclips.net/video/yATN_4QC0YU/видео.html
I've never seen Thursday boots for less than $199. I must miss their sales.
Nah they never go on sale
Thursday Boots: There are too many bad reviews saying that they are extremely strict on size exchanges. If you crease them while trying them on at home, they will not take them back for full value. Online shoe buying cannot be that restrictive.
