I have that exact same pair of boots! Glad to see they are well-made. I was thinking of getting the exact same stick on sole technique when I eventually need to get them resoled. I'm glad that method has the cobbler stamp of approval! 😁
Tony, just watched this. Thank you! I really like what you did with these. More importantly, you broke down the Beckett Simonon boot to show how well it’s made for the price. I always wondered, and now I know. I’m really enjoying your channel!!
I'm a big guy (6'3", 300+) and I'm hard on my Beckett Simonon shoes. Had them about 3 years now and they have held up great! Thank you for this breakdown!
Those are really great looking boots. I have the low-cut shoe version in black called the Kent; they are excellent dress shoes that I wear a couple times each week. When I wear the factory sole out, I'll be shipping them to you in North Carolina for re-crafting. I always enjoy your work, Tony.

Great video. I loved your honest review of the boot. Showing the upgraded boot along side the untouched boot is just genius. Great job! Keep the videos coming.
I had the pleasure of reviewing two pair of their shoes (Hoyt Monkstraps & Bolton Chelsea Boot) and was really really impressed with the quality/price. Thanks for the video! Watching you put back together the boots look so relaxing.
Really cool video. I'm waiting on my pair of side zip boots from BS and stumbled upon this. Watching it made me feel more confident about the quality of my purchase. As a side note... I've never personally worn a pair of shoes so much that it needed to be re-soled. I can understand it for work boots, but beyond that it just seems like the person needs a couple more shoes in their wardrobe!
That really is the one thing they are lacking. They don't have any danite or ridgeway. The only vibram soles belong to the golf sneakers. Ps how sweet is it that they make golf sneakers.
This cobbler...is just fantastic. Every bit as good as Steve at Bedo's. (Maybe even better). If only we could trust the rest of the world, (mechanic's, plumber's, doctors, dentist's, attorney's, car salesmen, etc.. ), like Wyatt and Dad, and Bedo's....the world would be a much better place. Bravo to Wyatt and Dad...top rated cobbler in the nation.
I've got 3 pair of BS shoes. I have the Hoyt monkstrap, Durant oxfords and the Lopez boots. All of them are fantastic and really comfortable and a great fit! Once you get that first pair, you get the 20% coupon and you get the same discount for every subsequent pair. I would honestly say, the only drawback is the wait time. Since they are made to order, you'll have to wait 3 or so months for the shoes to be delivered. This can be a huge bummer if you order a pair and they don't fit.
Beckett Simonon are awesome! I have two pairs of BS and two pairs of AE…my next few pairs of shoes will be BS. Better made, better value for the money, no break in required (I wish I could say the same about AE).
I have a really old pair of RM William. Still going strong. They don’t have a stitch anywhere in the sole. All held together very well with brass nails. Thick leather insole and outsole. Surprisingly comfortable and simple.
Boots are no different than a man's truck. Find one that meets your needs, and if there is something you don't like, take it to Tony. And let's be honest, not alot of people take good enough care of the UPPER to ever worry about how many times it can be resoled. We've all seen some hammered footwear. Amen
Hello Sir. I should be receiving these exact boots within the next few days. I love the purplish/red edge color that you applied. Can you tell me exactly what product you used to dye that leather sole edge and heel block? Btw, love y’all’s channel.
If you stitch the leather midsole to the welts, yes. Sometimes we do unit cushion soles on Goodyear welted shoes by stitching a midsole and then making the unit sole a stick em.
It can do both. The way I did these, it allows more resoles because new stitching isn’t required every time. That makes it easier for the repairman and less stress on the boots. After a couple resoles with stitching, other parts could need replacing. With stick em those things will be fine, so it makes it less expensive.
I have a pair of the Nolan Brogue’s. While waiting I bought a pair of Reid sneakers. Thank God I did, there is no standardization in shoe sizing. I have a pair of oxfords, 20+ years old, 9.5. All my work boots and sneakers are 10.5. So I ordered dress boots at a 10. 9.5 bloody freaking uk size 🤬🤬 Switched the 10 for 10.5 like the sneakers. Perfect fit. A few months ago I received 2 pairs of Chukka boots. I have my eye on a pair of cap toe closed lacing oxford’s on their website. Not to sure, I’m kinda leaning towards the Allen Edmonds version. Great videos, thank you for doing them.
I have -- several pair haha. I don’t have any with leather soles though… I have a pair of dress shoes with leather soles and here in Ohio where I live it’s kinda slippery sometimes.
You mentioned squeaking a few times in your video. I have this pair of Beckett Simonon chukkas love the look and fit but they are horribly squeaky. I sent them video bellow and the recognized the defect, air in the midsole near the shank is causing the noise, and sent a replacement pair. Will resoling correct this issue? are there other options? I like your channel. I was surprised you kept the paper insole. You where there why not duplicate that to leather. It’s your boot. Would be more comfortable. Better if you get it wet.
So, you really can just glue the out-sole in and then easily change it??? But why everyone is telling that you cannot do that with cemented sole technology?
@@OKOK-hm2is it’s been abused by people that don’t have stitchers and they glue only on shoes that need to be stitched. So, to save confusion, it’s easier just to say they have to be stitched.
It was expected on a $200 boot. They did cover it with a nice leather sock liner. Most companies don’t do that. Paper footbeds are only a real problem for people that have heavy foot perspiration. I have seen paper footbeds in vintage shoes that lasted through multiple resoles.
@@WyattDadCobblerCompany with the Oak Street boots you seemed more disappointing to see the paper/foam foot bed. What's the difference compared to this boot?
Why oh why oh why did you go through all that trouble and didn't fix the one mistake of there being a fake welt? You could have just deleted the fake welt because it is fake and a waste of material. You could have turned it into a blake rapid stitch and those boots are some of the most expensive on the market so to make a pair of blake rapid stitch boots out of some low cost beckett simonon boots would have been so cool
Some people don’t want to spend more on new soles than they did purchasing the boots. They don’t realize that it makes the boots a higher end product once done. We showed them how to upgrade the sole quality without breaking their budget.

Purchased NEW boots from Beckett Simonon, waited 5 months to receive the boots only to find a " tear " between upper and lower stitch area. Will never purchase a boot from them ever again.
So, you took apart a welted boot and are going to put it back together with glue, no more welt!? That sort of defeats the original purpose of buying a welted boot, doesn’t it??
It was a fake welt. I didn’t remove the fake welt. It is still on the boot. This boot was a blake stitch construction and still is a Blake stitch construction. All structural integrity is still in tact.
I know I'm not the only one who thinks this after you clearly just told on yourself but I know for a fact that you have charged customers for blind stitching and only used glue. Only someone who has the mindset of a criminal would even think of what you said.
What a fascinating lesson in blake stitches and recrafting a new boot, Well done!
