    Tonewinner d6000 seems to be another sub that could be included in this conversation, one channel said it outperformed the svs at half the price or so. Probably from china, but a very well put together design overall.
    Another one that needs more attention is starke as a budget sub can get into 15" ported for quite cheap.

    Awesome vid, well the Klipsch is still excellent for the money, theres a big difference on electronics involved on the Svs, a lot more power, Dsp is excellent, the app and so on. Finally it all comes down to budget. Both excellent.

    I like my Klipsch Cinema 600 soundbar. I will need to add surround speakers at some time, as I didn't get the 5.1 kit but the 3.1. I will also want to swap out the sub with an RP maybe the 12 at some time. My current sub is actually doing good if it's in the corner. So placement is still important.
    Great demo of the subs. The SVS sounds great, as does the Klipsch. SVS might seem to hit harder, but I'm still liking the Klipsch RP, especially since there's a price difference between them.
    Context, I'm in an efficiency apartment, so I think anything over the 12 is overkill. Which can be fine to go overkill sometimes, but in this case it'll mean I have to dial back the sub too much.

    The fact that it is one meter away in positioning is a huge deal, though. Sub placement in the room is extremely crucial. I realize moving the subs around between tests isn't easy, but you were still no listening to the same thing. If I move my head in the couch one meter the subs in my room sound completely different.

    Before I even watch this I will point out my observation on the port(s) output demo...
    #1 even if both sub port have the same port area, the fact the SVS has it subdivided into 3 focuses that output much more than the Klipsch.
    #2 the SVS has its output forced through 2 of its 3 ports, adding 33% more output to each.
    #3 IF the port heights are observed, the SVS are.much higher off the floor. Adding far more air pressure higher on the object making it far more likely to topple!
    The fact the Klipsch managed to slide the object, meaning it pushed its entire weight rather than toppling it, might be even more impressive.

  • @1FastGXP
    @1FastGXP 4 месяца назад +4

    Great video & totally agree with your opinion. You get what you pay for, and SVS uses much higher quality components. If you look at both manufacturers drivers, removed from their cabinets, you will immediately see how anemic the 1600SW driver is compared to SVS. Stamped steel basket on the Klipsch versus SVS cast aluminum for strength & regidity. Put quality components together, and it shows in the final product. This from an SVS sub that's almost eight 😮 years old! Can't wait to see the new subs they have in R&D. 🤤

  • @xaerothehero
    @xaerothehero 2 месяца назад +1

    19:00 The "wobble" you describe here is not actually happening. This is a video optical phenomena that you will only see on screen. It's because when the driver moves at the same frequency as the frame rate of your screen (or the frame rate of the video), it will only look like it is "warping" because of how the picture on your screen is updated and the way that digital cameras record video (from the top to the bottom, one line at the time). The phenomena you see is called "rolling shutter effect". If you want to know more about it you can google that term.

    Nice demo, I do disagree with you on one thing. The klipsch is limited in application and control where has the SVS shines in this as well as performance. I would take a single SVS over 4 Klipsch due to this alone. I have 3 systems and am always trying new things and some of this involves vintage systems that I need a line level in out connection. Klipsch does not have this. Before you say it yes I could y adapt them and do it that way but, I prefer not to. For me it is just a obsession. I really did not like the klipsch at all to me they sounded much more muddy than the svs even on mild bass like you said the heart beat. I could clearly hear it on svs and through my computer speakers I could not make it out at all in the klipsch too much mud.

      @@homecinemaking397 I personally do not feel that multiplying a lesser performing speaker does anything to make them perform better. As I stated the features of the SVS blow away the Klipsch completely. When it comes to price points features can be a reason I might spend more for a item. If the Klipsch did not obviously lose this comparison then yes I would jump in head first on them because value for buck but, wait, does not have feature that I need for my applications, nope still out, even if they out performed svs I would still be possibly out why. Lack of features! I can point one out it is a simple one but, very important to someone like me. I noticed you had center port of svs plugged. To change sound for test and put it closer to the other speaker? or personal preference? I believe the latter. So to someone like myself who may move my sub from living room to bedroom and need a little tighter bass in one room vs the other I can accomplish this easily. The lack of line level outputs of the Klipsch totally baffles me why. I also have to say now you are talking about 4 totally different subs i.e. RP 1200 vs RP1600. That is not what we were talking about. I will say this we can play this game all day long when it comes to Klipsch you talk about money factor and x4. Sir, I could choose to get 4 SVS PB 2000 Pro with ports for 100 more per speaker than the RP 1200 with again better performance via much wider frequency response i.e. svs at 16-290hz vs the 1200 at 16.5 - 138hz again more features, more power and get 10% off my cost. Which puts cost at $3959.97 vs how much did you pay? $3996 am I close? so lets just say the same for a speaker that once again has less performance, less power, much more limited frequency response. OK SVS will destroy Klipsch at any and all price points. I would even venture to say that I could pit PB1000 pro at 200 less per speaker and has same discount and I could still destroy your system in everything except power.
      That said back to the original system. I would take 2 Ultras vs 4 and I am sure they would out perform the 4 1600s except in loudness. Just my opinion. Still liked your video and like I said we could debate our life away on this subject if we are going to I am going to need a whiskey.

      To fully dial in subs in a room, if you have multiple especially, adding a MiniDSP HD to do the processing is kind of a no-brainer, and then using REW to do EQ curves for the subs. Price-wise, one of these subs and a MiniDSP is still vastly cheaper than the SVS unit. Also - multiple subs are often a huge boon, you do get 3 db more headroom but more crucially you get vastly smoother bass reponse in multiple seats. If all you care about is literally one seat, then sure, a single sub can do the job.

    I was just wondering why you have your centre channel placed inside the cabinet. After all, isn't there room on top? IDK if you know this, but the way you currently have your centre channel, the virtual effects are pretty limited.

    They both make air noises, which probably wouldn't be so drastic with the SVS if all three ventilations had been open, but the SVS sounds more differentiated. I'm a little disappointed with the Klipsch, my home-made one sounds better.
