I love my PB-16 Ultra! Watching movies is a whole new experience with this sub!!!
It really is!! Glad you enjoy it! Thank you so much for watching!
Dudes! This makes me want to upgrade my PB-2000s to PB-16 Ultras.
Best review I’ve seen of this sub. You guys didn’t just shill for SVS, but provided your honest input and a great overview. This is my favorite video you guys have done recently. I loved the subtle “oh my god” and little giggles after the demo scenes. Good stuff! I love the gloss, but I do worry it would reflect way too much might in my setup. Did you see any issues with this?
Man, thank you so much for watching Matt!! Your opinion really means a lot to us and we're super happy that you enjoyed the review. The piano black is very reflective - if we were able to keep this, I would probably put a black velvet cover on the top to keep it from reflecting light, just like I did for my center channel. I still think the Black Ash looks really nice! Thanks again for all the kind words Matt - we really appreciate it!! ❤
Awesome job guys! Thats a pretty potent sub... so hard to capture how impactful subs are in a video
Thank you so much for watching Kyle! You're right - it's really difficult! Hopefully we gave a decent impression on just how powerful it is though! Some day we hope to have the opportunity to listen to some 24s - can't imagine what kind of output they'd have! 😀
@@TwoGuyzTech I hope you do too! Keep up the good work, you might get the chance to review one!
Extraordinarily pleased that someone else knows about French are three.. which for me is an absolute Pinnacle of what chip Davis had created a very long time ago
I love the Voltron shirt. Now you gotta get the Voltron Hockey Jersey. My wife got one for me for Christmas and its so sweet.
Ah yes it is such a cool shirt, one of my favorites! I'll bet the jersey looks awesome! Thank you for watching my friend! 😀
Great review Rob and Logan. What a plethora of options for that sub. And yep, good luck recording through a 🎤 it’s impossible to capture with conventional equipment. The woofer excursion sure was cool though :)
Thank you so much for watching Tony! Sadly, you're completely right about recording through a mic as you could see in the video LOL. Hopefully, we still gave a good impression on just how much energy this thing can put into the room! 😀
That was a great video and review!!!! I love bass! I’m so up in the air on the next subs to get. I guess I could take advantage of these in home trials!!!! 4 of these would be insane!!!
Thank you so much Chris! Go for it! 4 of these would make for an awesome review 😉 Hopefully your house can withstand the force of them!! 😂
TwoGuyzTech my house might could but my wallet couldn’t!!!! Lol I might ask if they’d send me 4 of them!!!
God I would to see a head to head battle bewteen this and the Monolith 16" THX Ultra. Strictly a performance battle, of course, Im aware that SVS puts a ton more user features in their subs.
I'm running 2 x PB16s.. Great subs and great customer care service 👌💯
Congrats!! They're awesome!! Glad to hear you've had such a great experience with them. Thanks for watching! 😀
@@thedude7315 just plugged to Australian standard house wall plate on separate lines..
I am running four 😎
Very honest and detailed review. You’ve got a new subscriber 😁
Thank you very much for your support, it's really appreciated! 😀
I have a PB13-Ultra but I have the previous generation amplifier. Should I upgrade to the newest amp that allows the user to use the SVS amp? Do you think it'd be worth it?
What were your settings for all options on the pb16 ultra, im ordering 2 and want a basic start off for settings, im a novice when it comes to the setup
Thank you so much for watching! The beautiful thing about these subs is they sound great right at the default settings. After we had some time to play around with the configuration, what we found out was that a lot of the settings depend on your room. We enabled the Parametric EQ option and boosted 60hz by about 4db and a q-factor of 1.4, as this made the impactful and punchy bass fill our room a lot better. The app also has a great built-in tutorial that will walk you through all of these settings once you get your subs. Hope this helps - enjoy your subs! 😀
@@TwoGuyzTech thank you
at 10:42, where was the sub placed? Was it near the wall art? This thing is so strong sound like it can be placed anywhere in the room and have the same effect anywhere as long as its tuned correctly?
Awesome vid sir! 👍
Thanks bro! We appreciate it! 😀
I'm getting 4 for my system. What's your opinion?
i wish there were more pb13 ultra reviews out there of this caliber. but thanks for talking me into a pb16 ultra instead lol
What LEVEL are you running the subwoofer at within your AVR? Running at -10 and believe it sounds better than -3 to -2. Great review by the way!!
Thanks for watching! This is going to depend on how clean the signal is coming from your AVR/processor. Lower gain levels might actually lead to less distortion coming from the LFE port, but in our scenario, we ran the PB16 through a Velodyne Bass Management System, which was hooked up to our Integra processor, which had the subwoofer outs set to 0dB. This is going to differ depending on your equipment of course. Hope this helps! :)
All depends on the gain of your lfe line
An incredible subwoofer but unfortunately out of my budget. I’ll be getting the SVS PB-2000 Pro hopefully on Boxing Day. I’m pretty excited about it. I’m a huge SVS fan & I’m currently building my 5.1.2 system.
We plan on reviewing both the SVS PB-2000 Pro and the SB-2000 Pro and do a comparison of them, but I am not sure if it will be done before you buy your sub. From what I've heard the 2000 Pro series is amazing for the price. Currently we have the SB-1000 in for review and I'm really impressed with the amount of quality bass it puts out. When you get your PB-2000 we would love to hear what you think about it. Thanks for watching! 😀
@@TwoGuyzTech - I can definitely let you know what I think of it 👍🏻
Try going DIY. The driver used in the SVS is a variation of the STW-350F-188PR01-04. An adequate Amplifier, driver and cabinet would end up around 1000 bucks
Great video guys, amazing job. I kind of figured you would enjoy that sub, it DEFINITELY is no slouch. Lol that movie real prop was pretty intense, smart thinking on having it spin a fan to show airflow, never seen that one before ;)!
Thank you so much for watching Barrett! Yeah, the output of this thing is pretty amazing!! I can't even begin to imagine what the output of your subs are. Must be pretty incredible! 😀
@@TwoGuyzTech Oh, this old thing...it does alright lol.
@@SpecOfTech man barret I see you everywhere 😂
@@RJ-xj3ct I am a bot ;P, shhhhhhhh!
@@SpecOfTech dw man i wont tell anyone :)
Fantastic review guys!! That is a seriously impressive sub. Well done on such an informative vid!
Thank you so much for the kind words Jase! This is a pretty awesome sub! 😀
Aren't movies meant to be listened with everything set to 0 dB for reference volume? Is that too loud?
Recommendation on a AV for this subwoofer + svs speaker home theatre setup?
I’m in the market to upgrade. Do you think 2 of these is necessary?
Thanks for watching! It depends a lot on your room.
This sub has plenty of output for our room which is 20' x 15'. The problem with one sub is having unbalanced bass response throughout the room - it could sound perfect in one spot, and bloated or weak in another listening position. This isn't a problem with the sub itself - but just an inherent problem with single subs. The benefits of dual subs are smoother frequency response, more accurate bass across more listening positions, and, of course, increased bass output. This is why I always recommend two subs! 😀
TwoGuyzTech Unfortunately $5k is not an option. Perhaps a pair of 3000s, or monolith, or Klipsch
Awesome video man! I have a question. Is it worth it to get this sub, or a sub like this, if I don't watch movies with my speakers BLARING?
Really sound pressure volumes for movies and music are what I live for now may we please have everything louder than everything else and more thunderous than you could ever possibly imagine... We need all the boom boom in the room room shake the foundation of your house just a few inches in any One direction on a daily and the necessity of cracking concrete is an absolute must.. I truly love pissing off my neighbors
Awesome. What did you cross it at?
If you had to pick one of this one for movies and listen to music which one would you pick?
SVS PB4000 vs SVS SB16 ultra ……50% music and 50% movies
Just ordered one cant wait!!
Hi, you mentioned that you have tested many subs, could yıu tell us what they were and how they compare to svs. And did u try Rel Subs.
Thank u
Is it much stronger than the nubert nusub xw 1200?
I have had a PB-16 for about a year and a half. I wanted another but have been saving up. I'm scared by the time I get the $$ SVS will have another top of the line sub replacing the PB-16 Ultra....
I might buy it just cus I like the voice coil on it it’s big
4:23 Sound Demo
I have a pb 16 and can not get my blue tooth to play music but can move up and down volume keeps saying not in range
How about using the opening salvo for a little movie called mysterious Island from 1961 performed and written by Bernard herrmann that would be awesome and next how about the opening salvo for close encounters of the third kind come on let's put some boom in the room you think two of these little buddies and do that
Awesome video!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching :)
New subscriber. Am currently trying to decide whether to pay to have one of my two Triad in-room gold subwoofers repaired (it makes a loud clunking sound when it plays, so am thinking there is something broken in the voice coil or cone) vs replace both with new subs. SVS is on my list if I replace, but the issue for me is that I am not an "app"guy. Almost every week, I see stories about "apps" found by Google, Apple, etc. doing malicious things. They seem as untrustworthy as Internet of Things devices. Are there any alternatives to their app, say software running on a computer?
Thank you so much for your support! We really appreciate it! Thankfully, some of the settings on the PB16-Ultra can actually be changed just by using the front panel right on the subwoofer. The app itself is actually really good - the only permission it asks for is Location permission which is just used for bluetooth connectivity (on Android, haven't tried it on an Apple device yet). SVS is in the business of selling a great product - rather than selling your information, which I really appreciate!
If you do choose to buy an SVS product, please consider using our affiliate link right at the top of the description - it will give us a small commission at no extra cost to you, and it'll help support our channel so we can continue making content like this. Thank you so much for watching and subscribing! We hope you found this helpful, and let us know if you have any more questions! 😀
@@TwoGuyzTech I'll definitely use your link. I need to see if my existing Triad is worth repairing - since I have two matching Triad's I want to check that first.
Really enjoy your channel. I'm going to scan it to see if you ever posted videos on burning movies on DVD/Blue Ray - I have hundreds on discs, but never got around to uploading them and looking for some how to videos on that now.
So if one takes me to max of my budget, will one in my room ( non dedicated theatre room) but movie area dedicated in one area of large open basement.
Fronts are triton one’s,,,,,would one of these be sufficient given the towers I have, or with so much hype around two subs ( front and back? Or left and right) should I split my budget with two lesser subs….I want the depth and quality and infrasonic for movies, and tightness for music. I am also considering two monolith m15….thoughts anyone?
Maybe it is the mics your using, you don't specify which ones you have, but for the movie demo, the sub sounds like it is woofing. Not sure how accurate that is.
Using the built in mic on our camera along with RUclips compression definitely makes this sub sound way different than it does in person, most of the time the mic was clipping from the bass output. As we said in the video, you're not going to hear what we are hearing, so the demo was more of a visual representation of the subs driver excursion and air moving from the ports. Thanks for watching!
@@TwoGuyzTech That explains it. I was in the film industry for several decades and I know of no camera or camcorder whose built in mic was worth a damn. The most expensive cams still had crappy in-cam mics. Even a cheaper XLR shotgun mic would be better than your in cam mic.
Great channel my friend. Subbed
Thank you so much! We really appreciate it :)
Amazing!
Thanks for watching! 😀
Brutale 🔊🥳🤩✌️
PB16 Ultra is sub at another level as compared to others. Only few can match it. And IMHO, only JTR sub can top it.
Don’t forget PSA
@@GoldPlatedCheese I'm tired of people shilling for that company
Nice.
Thanks for watching! 😀
I'll be mad to get this into a rented flat especially not in very smallish uk standard home.
Can this sub make damage to your house like overtime? Like lets say you play it loud over the time of 5 Years does it damage your house ( Just a normal ordinary house)?
Thanks for watching! Generally subwoofers don't produce enough bass energy to cause damage to a house unless there are some massive structural issues.
@@TwoGuyzTech Thanks for the answer! Appreciate it! Keep up the good work😉👌
Yeah your house collapses.
How much bro
i have there old pb ultra 13 and a pc 4000 in a room size 12x18 :D
I can't even imagine how much bass you must have in your room...I'll bet it sounds incredible! Thank you for watching! 😀
@@TwoGuyzTech yyes i gotta stick my collticbiles for they wont fall haha
Who could possibly afford a subwoofer this damn expensive? From what it cost you could go on vacation for a week or buy a shitty car. Blows my mind the price tag it is super nice but not $2500 nice
i have this sub and trust me when i say this you dont need to sub crawl this thing lol;
I know right! the thing is a beast. Thanks for watching!😀
Not at first, but with any addiction.... You'll want more of it soon
No longer 2499, it's 2899 now.
A speaker that ways as much as 6 foot man
you wouldn't be a fanboy of SVS if you heard what JTR subwoofers do....SVS is far too overpriced for that pb16..all that money..and no 10hz bass extension ...barely even 15hz properly
I would like to review the JTRs, I've heard they are pretty incredible subs. I just have one question... If I end up liking the way they sound, am I considered a JTR fanboy at that point? ;)
1х PB16-Ultra оr 2x PB-3000
Size of the room is everything, I went with 1 PB16 over 2 3000.
16 hits lower depth that 2 3000 cannot.
So let me get this straight?
Sis sent you free one of there best sub and like your going to say something bad?
It's a common misconception that RUclips reviewers just get to keep everything that's sent to them for review - most products, including this PB16-Ultra, are sent back to the manufacturer. The only benefit we get is the ability to actually create the review and share our thoughts and opinions. It's your choice to believe us or not - but in all honesty, I wish they would have let me keep it.
the volume of the svs sucks, the svs are super overrated, to be able to listen to something you have to put the maximum volume, I have had 3 types of svs and I liked none
Wow, that's odd - we've had a very different experience. This sub has some incredible output even at half volume. Sorry you haven't had a great experience with SVS - feel free to contact their Sound Experts for advice on getting the right subs for your setup and for getting them configured properly. Thanks for watching! 😀
@@TwoGuyzTech yea I had the ultra series non ported and the pb4000 and nothing, in all of them I had to turn up all the volume to
feel something
U Can also seek advice from the guy Chris Mata from RUclips that home theater dude he is SVS expert.
Mauricio, You obviously don’t have a clue on setting it up. You’re probably the only person on this planet to say the PB16 Ultra doesn’t have good sound. I personally have 2 PB 16 Ultras they blow my mind. Even 1 is Incredibly powerful. Trust me you’re doing something wrong!
I'm sure the sub is crystal clear but high spl parts of this video are very distorted... perhaps your microphone is being overwhelmed, but it sounds like sh*t.
Put on your thinking cap and think about your comment for a minute.
