I could buy a JTR Captivator 18” for $3299 and get significantly more output. I think there is a lot more value out there, SVS sub is limited at frequencies below 16 hertz. Frequencies you can feel deep. The Tonewinner is overall a better value for the money. SVS is off with the value of the PB-16.
I agree, there is a lot more value out there over the SVS PB16. It's hard to argue the value of the D6000 also, insanely good output for a very affordable price. JTR are and amazing value also, like you said, if you can budget for them. I have had their RS2's and currently on the CAP2400's, both were/are amazing subs.
Jtr in Canada are like 5k now plus taxes and shipping, not to cheap, got my jtrcaptivator ulf just before Covid, and was not cheap then, but they went way up!
@howardmenkis5252 It definitely makes a difference for us Canadians. Products can quickly lose their "value" factor after exchange, shipping, duties and taxes. I think JTR still offer great performance for their price though. They are tough to beat, even if you spend much more.
Brought the T.W AD-8300 11 channel Amp. Wow thanks Barrett. In Tonewinner we trust 😂. For price you really CANNOT beat Tonewinner. Unless you're an Audiosnob, or live in detached house, you'll definitely be happy with TW....
Great video! The measurements don't lie, the D6000 is impressive! It should be compared to the SVS PB2000 for the price alone. It would be a slam dunk for the TW. 4 TW6000's for around $7k CAD, vs 4 PB16 at over $19K, that is a completely insane price difference, nuts!! (get 10 D6000's LOL) It really hits home how these big brands have enjoyed price gouging and screwing us all for years. HiFi and Home theater people really need to see videos like this and rethink what the media and flashy marketing has done, influencing buying decisions, while lining their pockets with massive profits at our expense. Keep dropping these bombs!!! love it! Cheers!
Thanks brother. I was truly shocked to see this. I thought for sure the PB16's would beat the D6000 in output. I thought it would relatively close, but fully expected the PB16's to be victorious, man was I wrong. These D6000's truly are the budget king!
Bonjour de la France....... super vidéo, merci beaucoup.... "Tonewinner" est distribué en France depuis quelques semaines.......... bravo pour votre impartialité
I imagine it would go head to head, might even have a little more output in the low end. One thing I like about the Tonewinner is the app, along with the ability to set your own PEQ's to help the response in your room.
I haven't tested the PB12's. But, physics dictates it should be a safe bet to say these will have significantly more output than the PB12's. I have no doubt that they will also provide more output in the lower octaves (dig deeper).
Hi, I had almost booked a pb 2000 pro to go dual and then I came across tonewinner. Now contemplating to either go dual pb 2000 pro or get one of d6000 and use it along the pb 2000 pro n see how it goes and later sell the pb for a dual d6000. What are your views on that? Just a bit skeptical bout audio/bass quality and seems too good to be true that it outperforms the pb16ultra. Your input would be appreciated. Thanks.
I know you are an SVS fan but 2 subwoofers to consider: the RSL Speedwoofer (10" and 12") the 12" goes down to 16 HZ, and I want to say around 450 watts RMS, but is big! the 12 inch is around $800 & has good adjustability. And Tektron makes a 6 driver by 10" subwoofer that goes for around $1200-1300 that is a beast! The RSL is powered, the Tektron is not.
I would recommend getting the D6000, then plug the ports and put it in sealed mode. I found it performed very well for music and had a nice flat response.
I’m considering this too. If the 4000 is equivalent to an SVS 3000 pb, then the 6000 must be significantly better if it is being compared to an sb16 ultra. The price difference isn’t much. I think you’d regret getting a 4000 and be thinking you should have bought the 6000. Good to know about putting it in “sealed mode” by filling the ports. Does it come with supplies bungs, or do you fill them yourself with some foam? In regard to sealed vs ported for music, I’ve seen people express polarized opinions about this. There’s a video of a reviewer testing on vs sb SVS and concluding that ported fill the room better and are less directional. They preferred the ported versions for music. As a single sub instead of dual, it might be better ported for this reason. Did you test the sub in sealed mode and compare it with ported to audibly compare? Thanks.
Hey, great review! Love your videos. I'm interested in either the TW D6000 or the monoprice monolith 13" thx ultra . Which would you recommend more? Looking for cleanest sound & most cinema chest thumping bass?
I've never heard the THX 13, so it's really difficult to give you an educated opinion between the 2. All I can say is the D6000 seems to have some of the best performance out there any where near it's price point. It does have a nice hard hitting bass as well. On top of that it has the app for on the fly changes. I don't think you would be disappointed in either of them though TBH. Aamir does offer a 45 day in home trial, so you could give the D6000 a try risk free.
@@SpecOfTech thanks for the very honest and prompt response! Would you be able to get your hands on a thx 13" and test/review it? You would be the only one if you did do a video on them in a battle 💪🤙
I currently have Dual Klipsch SPL150 in my 30x30 rooms 12' ceilings. they are good for movies, I listen to mostly music in this room though. I find these to be very boomy and not great at music. I want something with faster response while keeping the great performance for Movies. I really like the dual D6000 or dual RSL12s. (maybe 4). My listening in this rooms 80% music 20% movies. what are your thoughts on both of these? Thanks love the channel!!!!!!!
These would work but you need to look at your frequency response. The boominess and issues you described are 99% problems with frequency response with bad room nulls and peaks.
@1FastGXP My understanding is that Tonewinner is working with Summit Hifi on the warranty, as a joint effort. Summit Hifi is incredibly reputable, just look at his reviews. He is one of the best in the business, if not the best. If a person would rather spend 2.5 times more for less performance and to deal with SVS, that choice is always there as well. SVS worked hard to build their reputation, so I don't blame you for calling the reputation of the new kid on the block to question. To charge what SVS is charging for their lack of performance, that is equally as questionable IMO.
Interesting comparison. SVS has lost their minds with the current Canadian pricing. I purchased dual PB13’s here in Canada for $4000 all in just a few short years ago.🤦♂️ Did you mention which tune on the PB16? Also, you mentioned different placement - important to note that even a few inches can make a huge difference on response.
I did mention which tune in the video, "standard". Moving a subwoofer can make changes to the response, but for the most part it usually just helps or worsens the peaks and nulls. I don't believe the overall average output would change drastically if in the same room. Thanks for watching.
@@SpecOfTechyes, I noticed it was mentioned later in the video. I was typing and watching at the same time lol. No matter how you slice it, the Tonewinner is an excellent option for Canadians. I just wish they would change the name lol.
The graph looks really cool how did you measure this, can you provide some information on this? And I guess I'm not very smart but I have trouble following what the hell the graph is all about. I wish they had a Quality ap on an iPad Measure a rooms Sonic qualities to make life easier with a nice interface . Would use with a standalone microphone that could be attached. I've trouble using a desktop because of my hands
Don't say you're not very smart simply because you don't know something. That's the thing, you don't know until you know haha. I used a free software called Room Eq Wizard or REW for short. I purchased the Minidsp Umik-1 calibrated microphone. Together they measure the response of sound in your space. The bottom of the graph shows the frequency, and the left side shows what SPL that frequency was played at in my space. For more information, here is the introduction to REW, have a read. www.roomeqwizard.com/help/help_en-GB/html/gettingstarted.html
WOW. I must say I'm completely surprised. The additional power ouput of the PB16s i thought for sure would make a noticeable difference. Arent the Tonewinners like at almost half the power? Are we seeing diminishing returns on power. Or maybe better use of it on the TWs? I've got to imagine the PB16 has to have some benefits in sound quality and control with that power. I'm saying this as i have 2 PB16s, and now am getting the feeling i need to switch to 4 Tonewinners🤣. Thanks for the video!! Klipsch 16" comparison anytime soon?🤔
Not having them in same exact place pretty much makes this test null and void. Room nodes matter and anyone who know anything about home audio and low frequencies knows this. Even a slight variation in placement can make a huge difference. Not saying tonewinner isn’t good but as far as trying to be a conclusive test you can’t take these results to serious as there is too much variation introduced with the different placement. But thanks for disclosing it in the beginning.
Well technically there is some truth to what you are saying, but to completely cross off the conclusion isn't true. Yes, placing subwoofers in different spots will change the room modes (peaks/nulls), but the overall output will generally be very close, specifically when using more than 1 subwoofer. Especially if the subwoofers are in a similar configuration, ie. one in one corner, and one behind the seat. The room modes will change from front right corner to front left corner, but with the second sub being placed in the same spot, it will level it out quite a bit. That being said, is the test perfect...no, hence why I made that distinction in the video. To completely cross off the measurements isn't correct either though. Saying that a slight change in placement makes a huge difference without any context, is sort of misleading. Keep in mind I have done hundreds, if not thousands of measurements in my room with different subwoofers at this point. When you make small changes in subwoofer placement it can slightly change nulls and peaks, does it make a difference, yes, but not a large difference like you stated. Again, the overall output is typically quite close even if moving the subwoofer a fair distance, but it can change the room modes. What's important is trying to get the measuring point and MLP equal distance between the 2 subwoofers. Keep in mind, that the effects of placement are much more noticeable when using a single subwoofer, but when using 2 and using some similar principles the effects aren't as drastic. So although what you are saying does have some truth to it, it certainly doesn't make this comparison null and void. In fact, you can even see in the measurements, that even though the subwoofers are in different corners the nulls lined up quite nicely in the graph, not all of them, but most of them did. I can all but guarantee that if I ordered 2 more PB16's and placed one in the same corner as the D6000 and one nearfield behind my seating it wouldn't change too much and the overall result would be almost the same, especially when considering the overall output. I hope that helps explain why this comparison is valid...cheers.
Better be careful when you critique anything this guy puts out. He’s touchy as hell and can’t take any criticism. He always has to have the last word due to his inferiority complex.
Wow, looks like a great product at a great price. My only issue that after watching several of your comparisons with these subs you seem to be actually clicking on the different lines to prove the SVS isn't giving a full 3db gain but with the TW you just say it looks well-spaced out. You should have clicked on several spots of TW readings as well. Just to be fully transparent. That being said, if I was in the market for a larger ported sub I would seriously be looking at TW. Right now the D6000 is on sale so for those that pay retail you can get two D6000's for the price of one PB16 (US).
One of the reasons I did that for SVS, is because they have a huge following and I didn't want them crying foul with their line. But you're right, I could have done the same for Tonewinner as well. The other reason is because the Tonewinner is very obviously evenly spaced, there was no discrepancy IMO. Thanks for watching...cheers.
I would hope the Monolith would beat the D6000, the Monolith is $1000 USD more. Although, what I as trying to show here, is that spending more doesn't always get you more output. I would love to test out the Monolith 16 though, it's a true beast. I think for under $2000, the Tonewinner is the budget king. For above $2000 to about $3000, the Monolith 16 is probably king. At $3500 the JTR CAP2400 is probably king, and JTR is king above that price point as well IMO.
@@SpecOfTech Oh I figured since you were showing the SVS PB16 at nearly $3k that you were just comparing the Flagship models. Well for half the price the Monolith 13" THX ULTRA ($1,500) would compete against the Tonewinner D6000. Why not try that comparison...
@@anonymous007advice If Monolith is willing to send me their subwoofer for comparison, I would gladly do the comparison. I have tried to get their subs sent for review in the past, but no success.
SVS's prices have just creeped up over the years, to the point that they can' compete with equally priced subwoofers. They have a great product, it's just overpriced for what it is. Enjoy the D6000 man, it's the budget king!
Garrett, you have talked about your Wife before. Please invite your Wife on a couple of your videos and I want to hear her opinion on some of these stereo pieces. Thanks !!
Wow SVS should be embarrassed 😳. I've watched that woofer just keep going up in price. Now 3k no way 😮. I think the Tone Winner is the champ all the time. 👍😊
Totally correct the PB-16 at that price puts it in a class of subs it really can’t compete in. I have the Rhytmik F-18 gets to 12.4 hertz at 94db at $2080 it’s a better value. At $2899 the PB16 is out of its class. There are a lot subs that outclass the PB16
SVS hasn't been the budget King for about a decade now. Which is why I keep asking to see Monolith, because I wanna see how Tonewinner compares to them. That will determine who the real winner is.
@anonymous007advice technically speaking, monolith is also not budget king either. It was 2.5 years ago pre covid 15% inflation hike. New 2023 standards budget king in this subwoofer size bracket is probably the new klipsch RP line 16 inch subwoofer.
@@sammy10001 Monolith has Subs all the way down to $500 and their Monoprice line goes even further down to $79. So id say their everything from Budget to High-end.

Yeah these are cool but imma build my own and get better performance than one of these but I won't just have one that outperforms either of these but I'll have at least 2 that smoke these for that kind of money wish me luck as a union carpenter I think I'll be fine
I'll be honest, I fully expected this. They perform so well, the original price was far too low for them. Even at $1999 CAD, they are far less than the competition. Like SVS PB3000 ($2700), which the D6000 performs better than, or even the PB16U ($4900), which the D6000 performs as well as. So even though it's disappointing the price went up, they are still WELL worth the price.
Thanks for the correction. I had the PB16's in gloss black, but I did have the PB3000 and PB2000 Pro with black ash, and it did look similar to the Tonewinner.
@@SpecOfTech politely, it doesn’t help your case getting upset replying like this. I believe your measurements, but you are associated with Summit HIFI. I can’t believe someone thinks it’s a paid promotion. I like watching your channel because you give your honest opinion and it correlates to what I hear. Keep up the great work!
If you have a crappy main speaker that doesn't offer good bass you need a subwoofer. The reason why main speakers these days have poor bass is because the diameter of the driver is too small. It's that simple. I have a subwoofer and it's purpose is to rumble the room and provide comforting lower frequencies. Modern subwoofers lack the fullness. They are too damn tight. Sales people agree and it's the first thing to hear when people take their new subwoofers home, customers say it doesn't fill the room very well
Okay? Having speakers that don't put out loads of bass, does not make them crappy. There are some speakers, like a lot of home theater speakers and bookshelf speakers that are designed to be used with a subwoofer. I'm not sure where the rest of that comment came from, but I hope you enjoyed the video...cheers.
Pretend you have a channel, like I do. Now pretend that your channel, like mine, doesn't really make any money, honestly it costs you money to buy products to review. Now pretend there is a retailer (Summit Hifi) willing to send you products for review, instead of you having to buy them from your own pocket all the time. Would you choose to spend your own money? OR would you choose to accept some products sent to you for review? I'm guessing you'd probably make the same choice I did. To answer your question, no, Tonewinner does not give me a dime. Summit Hifi also doesn't pay me a dime for reviews. The links I provide in the description are affiliate links, which I often state in my videos and provide a disclaimer in my description for full transparency. JTR are and amazing value also, like you said, if you can budget for them. I have had their RS2's and currently on the CAP2400's, both were/are amazing subs.
@@SpecOfTechAgree totally!
PSA has an 18 for $1280 US, but pretty big.
Love the reviews.
Brought the T.W AD-8300 11 channel Amp. Wow thanks Barrett. In Tonewinner we trust 😂. For price you really CANNOT beat Tonewinner. Unless you're an Audiosnob, or live in detached house, you'll definitely be happy with TW....
I'm curious what those height speakers in the background are?
They are an outdoor speaker, I use them for the included U bracket. They're the Klipsch AW650.
Hi Barrett! Great comparison. Any chance you will review the smaller D2000? Please let me know if you can. Thanks!
I will be in the coming weeks. I need to get some non Tonewinner subwoofer content out first lol.
Any chance the Monoprice 15 will go head to head with the D6000?
I imagine it would go head to head, might even have a little more output in the low end. One thing I like about the Tonewinner is the app, along with the ability to set your own PEQ's to help the response in your room.
I currently have 2 SVS PB12-NSD’s, will one of these have more output and dig deeper than what I currently have?
I haven't tested the PB12's. But, physics dictates it should be a safe bet to say these will have significantly more output than the PB12's. I have no doubt that they will also provide more output in the lower octaves (dig deeper).
@@SpecOfTech thanks for the good info, I’m checking out your video on the 9,000 right now! Go big or go home!!!
Amazing comparison. I'm just curious to know how the D4000 performs in music in comparison to the D6000... Which one is faster and tighter for music?
I would recommend getting the D6000, then plug the ports and put it in sealed mode. I found it performed very well for music and had a nice flat response.
Pour une petite pièce le d6000 sera mieux que le d4000 ?
I am definitely going to see about trying out a d6000 👍
Wish I could hear both side by side but nobody has a video of those 2 subs. You would be the only one if you did do a video on them in a battle 💪🤙

@@SpecOfTech thanks brother! Cheers
@@kickinitwiththekramers6997 hi, did you happen to get your hands on d6000?
Great video man
What your thoughts on paradigm Signature SUB 2
What is the warranty on the Tonewinner?
3 years amp/driver and 5 years on cabinet.
@@1FastGXP I hope to see more as well. I wish I had the ability to conduct CEA2010 numbers. I would love to see the 2010 numbers on these.
I'm torn between the rythmik FVX15 or the tone winner 15, I'm in ONTARIO so price is comparable
I am also in Canada . Is their a Rythmik dealer in canada ?
No @@herbtarlick12
Interesting comparison. SVS has lost their minds with the current Canadian pricing. I purchased dual PB13’s here in Canada for $4000 all in just a few short years ago.🤦♂️
Did you mention which tune on the PB16?
@@brucecarter6205 Haha all good. I do like their new TW logo though, it's more simple, looks good.
This is great information. Love the bass as always in life. Goes into your bones.

Need to compare them to the new Klipsch RP subs I think a better real world comparison
I would love too. I hope to get a 1600SW. I am working on it, but no guarantees.
Good reviews.
Thanks.
I have waited for the review of d8000 for a long time, besides,a new sub d8000pro will come soon,i'm expecting the review about it same.
The Monolith 16" THX ULTRA will own both these Subs. Will you try and get one of these in to see who's the real King?
As it should. I believe the Monolith 16 is closer to an 18” driver.
Wow!!! Getting mine next week! I will put it on my page! Ya the svs fans hate it!
Thanks !!
Nice battle. Im more of a diy guy, I like the flat packs that GSG offers. I would go with the D6000 if i ever wanted to just buy a sub.
DIY is an excellent option regarding value in price to performance also 👌.
If only we had cheap flat packs available in Canada.... 😭
lol now we don't need cheap flat packs, we have some affordable great performing 15" subwoofers 😉, and they are already built for you.
I think if SVS reviewed their prices they'd smash it again. They're way overpriced
Svs came out like 10 years ago.
It's an aged product

Lol get a PA amp build a nice low frequency bass reflex box and it will eat anything you presenting at half the price. I'm Hitting 134 db with dual 18's.😊
Yeah these are cool but imma build my own and get better performance than one of these but I won't just have one that outperforms either of these but I'll have at least 2 that smoke these for that kind of money wish me luck as a union carpenter I think I'll be fine
The sad thing is they are $2000.00 now the D6000
I'll be honest, I fully expected this. They perform so well, the original price was far too low for them. Even at $1999 CAD, they are far less than the competition. Like SVS PB3000 ($2700), which the D6000 performs better than, or even the PB16U ($4900), which the D6000 performs as well as. So even though it's disappointing the price went up, they are still WELL worth the price.

But he is NOT being paid by Summitt Hifi.
Does tonewinner have you on the payroll? It’s too much of your content imo.
