Correction on JL Audio E-Sub e112: $2,700. The E112 has deep bass performance advantage to Sigberg Audio 10D but not as much mid-bass headroom.
Correction on SVS: James accidentally showed CEA-2010 data of PB16 in sealed mode instead of the SB16. PB16 in sealed mode lack the mid-bass due to the underhung design of the driver but not SB16. Thanks for this comparison. I have a single SB3000 Pro in my lounge and it’s simply astonishing. But then I got a demo of 3 Perlisten subs in a dedicated room and it was gripping! We’ll be making some upgrades in a couple of years time so I’m super excited to see what SVS will bring out to replace the SB16 Ultra. Perhaps 2 of these are just what the doctor ordered! But I do wonder how these subs in this comparison measure up against Perlistens and other subs in the next price tier or 2. Perhaps I should be careful what I wish for, this could get expensive!

Correction on JL Audio: 30:00 when James compares the Sigberg 10D to JL Audio, he was referring to the e110. The JL Audio e112 has significant low bass output advantage to the Sigberg unit and remains the king of performance in its size class from our objective testing. We absolutely love this sub if you're tight on space and don't mind paying a premium for performance and great aesthetics.
Correction on SVS: James accidentally showed CEA-2010 data of PB16 in sealed mode instead of the SB16. PB16 in sealed mode lack the mid-bass due to the underhung design of the driver but not SB16. Can I ask your opinion/advice on my current set up. Have a 5.1 setup with a Paradigm subwoofer 12" ported (which is around 15+ years old), the room is 17' by 13' by 8'. Have been thinking about upgrading to a new sealed subwoofer, was looking at the REL - HT/1003/1205 or a SVS Pro 1,000. I don't need a large sub in my room as it's not that big a room and my current sub can go higher than 45% without shaking the whole room. What do you think would be a good option?

I love my JL E112's. Not the cheapest subs but what you get for your money is absolutely worth it. These are the best of both worlds when it comes to sound quality and SPL. They dig deep while maintaining superb bass tone and texture. These Subs are articulate with excellent note to note distinction and transient response. I've heard a lot of high-end subs and these are Masters at low volume. The low volume performance from these is jaw-dropping and they volume track my speakers perfectly all the way from a whisper to the limit and never lose their composure. You get all of this in a small beautiful over-engineered enclosure that is built like a freaking tank. In case you can't tell I'm a satisfied customer happy to say these are my end game subs.

Thanks for all the content, it has been super helpful in my home theater journey.
Right now I'm considering a subgrade. I have a single jl audio d108, which I got together with a whole system after demoing a few different systems, mainly due to its performance on music and I getting a decent deal on all the equipment. However, I've since had buyers remorse, since due to its small size it does not have really deep bass.
My room is medium-smallish at 22m² with low ceilings. With mostly concrete walls and floors, I really don't need a whole lot of output, but I'd like accurate and deep bass that's consistent across multiple positions. Spouse is accepting for any design, the home theater was her idea 😊.
The JTR looks tempting, but after a quick search it doesn't look like it's being sold here in Germany and it's a tad expensive anyway.
Currently looking at 2*Arendal 1723 1S, but still researching options.

Pick the company offering the longest warranty (for the amplifier, especially) and who you think will hold inventory for parts because those plate amplifiers are disposable. As much as I love Martin Logans higher end products and electrostats, the cost of replacement parts have skyrocketed over the years and worse, they discontinue parts pretty quickly as well. I wouldnt touch the lower-end Dynamo product line, they're cheap for a reason. I still own two ML Descent subs and they are great, but much higher quality than anything from the Dynamo lineup. Rhythmik subs certainly have my attention in the future, but JL offerings are also very impressive and they offer great support (even long term).

If I were you. I would rather upgrade to the SB16 subs, or wait for the new and improved SB16 that will come out in a year or so. I've had 4 SB 3000, subs and they lacked impact. The SB 3000 has some punch but 1 SB16 Ultra will blow 2 SB 3000's out of the water. From my experience, I had to baby the SB 3000 subs. Without the voice coils being blown, I couldn't push them to reference levels and above during playback with a movie with deep bass. I now have 4, Sb 16's in my setup. The SB 16 isn't that much larger than an SB 3000. Once you go big on the subs, there's no turning back.

I've been looking for high performance small subs and I was very pleased to learn about Sigberg Audio 10D. I saw that they have a sub called Incognito, which has a form factor like an AVR. Very cool.
Regarding this category of subs, have you tried/heard Bowers & Wilkins small dual driver subs, like the DB1D, DB2D and DB3D? They also use Hypex amplification, but with even more power, and they look awesome. I'm very curious to as how they perform, there are almost no reviews, perhaps because of the price..

I've owned the db2d twice (yeah I went back to it after selling the first one), great subs! Build quality is 10/10, they use also use a hypex module like the 10d, but double the size. The drivers only have a +/-10mm max excursion (I've measured this), the 10d drivers are +/- 18mm max excursion (also measured, the specs say more though...).
I sold the 2nd db2d because I wanted more output, a pair of them would be great. If I went b&w subs again, I'd go db1d.
