End of last year I walked into what I thought was "the best role of my career thus far". Everything aligned perfectly on the outside from the interviews up to the start date. On day 1 alone, supervisor unleashed the "Yeeeah so the truth about this role" and it has been downhill since. I realized quickly before the end of week 2 it wasn't a good fit-No proper onboarding, no SOPs/documentation, and colleagues were getting upset that I was asking questions on how to be successful in the role (although they told me if I had any questions to just ask). I'm still at the job hanging on by a thread thinking/hoping things will get better...
I feel you to the T, it’s been 2 months cried at least 20 times. I feel like they were good selling the position, not complying to what they told. Good luck to you in that situation.
@@TrevorRambharose36 : Things did get *somewhat* better after calling a meeting with my supervisor and director-(a concern will never be known if it's not spoken for). All in all, the place of employment is a train wreck; has nothing to do with me. I had come to the conclusion that how I feel is justified, and I can only control what I can. Putting my best foot forward one day at a time, I don't feel as anxious as I did in the beginning. What I'm doing now is adding things every week to my resume & keeping it fresh on the market. There's a saying "it's better to have a job while looking for a job." But, if you feel your sanity is at stake, by all means do what's best for you! Best of luck.
@@TrevorRambharose36 My apologies if you were refering only to the person that created the main comment. On my end I took the decision that what was best for me, was to quit. What the other person says is true though, and if you are like me, saying what bothers you is going to be like hell, but very helpfull. What I took into consideration to make the decision was what was important to me and what was discuss during interview. In my case, I tried to let the person know how I was feeling and I was been deflected, until one manager told me what I was saying all along, that I needed some kind of trainning. Only for them to take action when a manager said it and not when I did, they kept telling me that I was at fault because I wasn't asking enough, but I didn't even know what to ask, because I was clearly underqualified. Even though they did make an adjustment for me, I didn't feel that what was been taken into consideration was myself. That damage the relationship from my end, because I won't be able to trust them. Plus, I saw the dynamic, things will only be taken seriously if it comes from managers, not myself. That, I understand if you have a well established hierarchy to do so, but that was not the case. Additionally, I have been working none stop since 2016, getting maybe 3 weeks in combination from all those years of vacations. My health was affected and is still affected, I knew I had to go when I was unable to eat and was throwing up mucus because I had nothing in my stomach. Even after I quit, it took me 1 week to even start eating and not feeling guilty. Looking back now, after 1 month and 11 days, I regret nothing. I have been reflecting and evaluating what I want and accepting that been overwork and miserable does not mean success. hope this help and things get better for the both of you. Disclaimer, I was able to quit because I had savings and a supportive Fiance. Look for another job before doing anything.
If I start noticing the same trends that I don't like when I'm moving jobs, it means job culture is a mess. Half of tiktok is talking about quiet quitting and lazy girl jobs and generally how they hate work. They work in all different fields all over the world and all say the same things. We have a management culture that underpays you, overworks you, doesn't care about you, rewards you with donuts instead of money or time off, promises you the world and gives no real opportunities and we will never reach retirement age. "everyone hates their job", people say, but why should we accept this? We deserve better than that. It's not a gift, it's a broken system

I notice i keep changing jobs because culture, lack of raises, overwhelming workload. Not bc i feel like i need to make a career change. Its more about these companies having horrible training, not flexible regarding hybrid or remote options.
I have been training for one week, The first day was horrible. I do not like it at all. The person training me gossips, talks negatively about the owners and even threw a fit over an argument she had with a coworker. They have.a high turnover rate and she has even said they will fire you for anything. I’m already over it, but I am going to stick it out and see what happens this week. 🤦🏻♀️
Oof - that sounds pretty miserable. So sorry you're going through this Jocelin! I hope it either gets better OR taht you're able to find the next opportunity where you can really thrive and feel happy in a healthy environment!
One word, is leave. I found myself in this situation and today I didn’t show up for work. The environment is highly just all over the place. You got staff members doing the big managers jobs and like everyone don’t have a solid role because they’re handling the entire business. It’s almost like they’re doing the jobs of the co-owners but low pay. I’m headed out in the next 2/3 weeks.
I keep hearing people getting their dream role I started training on my new Job yesterday but I’m not really happy about it…ppl tell me give it a chance but idk 😞 I miss my old job but I can’t go back to it since they won’t hire me back for some reason…

It's never a good idea to go back to an old job after you've decided to leave. It's what's most comfortable to you, but is not the best choice long term. Consider it them doing you a favor.
Absolutely correct. I hate mind numbing factory jobs, anxiety ridden jobs and found I love Entrepreneurial Work. I work myself and with customers. 😊 Done deal, that's how I roll from now on.
I just started a job as an RBT and....yeah I am not digging it. 18 an hour, but the hours are low with very unrealistic expectations and they already sent me to a client with a severely roach infested home. I refused to work in that home, and I feel like my coworkers look down on me for it. Like I'm a snob for not wanting to bring roaches home. All I ever wanted to do was write or act or make a movie. But you can't really survive on dreams so I jobhop. And I'm so tired of doing that.
You’re not alone. Been jumping from corporate job to corporate job with salary and benefits and at this point I feel like I’d rather kill roaches for a living
Yes balance in your life is key to not feel too miserable at work, you need to take a step back and not let your bad job drain you. I know it's easier said than done but this is a first step in making you don't insane and let your job ruin your life.
I loved my Last job was there 15 years. Applies for a job for something I thought was similar and I don’t like it. I don’t know what to even begin to look for. So lost and confused
Andrea Wetherald you are right!!. I’ve been getting gut feelings to start a side hustle. Or a different field of work. And I was working bullshit jobs. End of 2019 I quit my factory job that I had for about 5 years up until now I worked in the same field but job hopped ..10 different companies ..work for a few weeks then quit. Or a few days.
Andrea Wetherald started welding in Arizona a few weeks ago. It’s ok. Bosses are terrible I don’t know yet. When I was 11 ish years old I started my own lawn mowing company to earn some cash. I came up with the name. & business cards,.,,passed them around my neighborhood..... c ,J&s lawn care. Christian Joey sam. My stepbrothers joined in at the time. I think all of that is a sign..

Thanks for the advice Andrea. I started a new job a month ago after leaving my first job of since I was an intern in University (about 6 years). Before I chose to leave, I had a few options to stay in the company and ultimately chose to relocate. Covid then happened in Jan and things became complex. Contract was signed and immigration process set to start, I was approached and offered a position to stay where I was, in this job. At the time, I had scenarios of the immigration and lockdown making the relocation difficult, so staying put is the wisest choice. Started the job in lockdown and have a hard time adjusting, I soon regret leaving my previous job. I became very distracted and hard to justify sticking around. But my former company and general market has frozen hiring because of the downturn, it will not be soon even if I try to change my career. It's the most difficult time for me right now. Maybe you can share some words of what or how I should change?
Thanks so much for sharing your story -- I'm so sorry to hear that you're going through a stressful time. I actually do have some advice for what you can do at this point -- a while back I made a video about what to do when your stuck in a job situation that recaps this and offers 8 tips for specifically what to do. I'll link to it at the end of this comment. Essentially, your focus should be 100% on 1) how you can keep growing as a professional: you don't want to stagnate just because you're feeling deflated. Keep growing your skill sets and keep learning/building a portfolio. 2) cultivate joy within yourself: JOY MATTERS :) 3) be the change and be a part of creating GOOD in your work culture. I'm on my new job back to town, everything seems good on 1st day, but soon realized this is not at all what I thought, working culture bites and so tried to go back to x company but that position was already filled and now I'm left broken even a day to pass seems like a year.
I left a company that I loved however, I didn’t like what I did. My Supervisor was terrible. I was offer another position in the same department, but it would’ve been working under the same Supervision. There were no other positions open at the company. So I started working a new job, and I hate it. I wish I would’ve saw this video before I quit. I probably would’ve tried to stick it out a little longer until something else came available within the company. Now I feel like I’m just stuck.😏
I'm sorry that I missed your comment before, and I'm even more sorry to hear that you're feeling stuck at your job. I'm curious: 7 months later, are you still with the same company? Have things changed at all? I hope things have started to work out for you - you deserve to be happy and fulfilled! Absolute best of luck to you on your career journey. Thank you for watching my video and for sharing some of your story with me.
um....people. I hate lying people who lie direct to your face in the interview about how great the company is and how everyone works as a Team Player and its all unicorn farts and rainbows....until you onboard and discover they've all lied and you, being the new person, get shit upon daily with all of the work put onto you until they break you and your spirit dies a painful death. Maybe I can get a job with plants?
I was in my last job as an x-ray tech for about 5 years. I loved my job but wasn't getting anywhere professionally. I decided to leave, and through some real internal searching concluded that schedule, work/life balance, opportunity, and good co-workers were what I really wanted in a new job. I took a role as a business development representative about 5 months ago.. All was good in the beginning. The role has changed at least 4 times in 4 months, and we've already changed management. Expectations have not been clearly define. The job has basically morphed into a self-starter cold call sales job which is the last thing in the world I want to do. I love the company, the culture, and the people. I've been holding on, but this role is simply not for me. I'm debating what to do moving forward, but I can't stay in this role for the year they want me to for a transfer. I wish it wasn't this hard...
Not quite true. If you have a poor mentor/s, it will become chain of unfortunate events in future: mistakes, fails, difficulties. You are forced to put twice as more effort to learn which can be stressful or willingness to leave as you feel not treated right according to companies code of conduct or their so proclaimed philosophy . Usually, staff shortage is an answer and it doesn't matter if it is a small company or one of the worlds top 10. Also if people don't feel bond with others, it is possible that at a current stage company doesn't have a nice working environment/climate. Most commonly it is due to staff rotation, poor management, budged savings and etc.. Worst advice a person can give is to tell to look for answers in your mind. In order to do something you love, you need to learn how to deal with things you hate or you quit. Both options can be good and bad. Yes, we do need to listen our body as it can give you all the answers but everyone's life is a different footpath.
Lol that's what I'm going to talk them when I leave in a month "this is nothing like I expected," plus they lied anyway just to get me to say yes to the role. So bye bye.
Just joined a new company as i finished my bachelor study did intern for 3 months but doing job at company is different from what i did at intern.. just a second day i got scolded by ceo at job not a good way to start a job.... They just wanted me to lewrn everything like in two days which is new things to me

My next sign if they start cutting hours that means it's time to look for something else and if you stay they'll find a way to shift blame and fire you WRONGFULLY
The common theme is people are not easy to work with and tend to be unfriendly unprofessional condescending underhanded and generally mean overall in the workplace. Respect doesn't seem to mean anything to anyone anymore or treating others decently as they would want to be treated

It's funny so I'm not a Baby Boomer but I am a Gen X'er, if you ever said I hate my job to the average Baby Boomer they would probably say..."everyone hates their job, you're not suppose to like your job. A fulfilling job that fits you is only in the movies...bad, unrealistic movies and anyone who says they love their job is in denial or lying or has no life" And Gen X'ers believed Baby Boomers when they said this.
I know this is an older video, but I just wanted to let you know, you changed my life with this. Thank you.
3 weeks in but i cant help feel guilty, its even a miracle i got this job.. feeling like i should be so grateful but since the first day i’ve had doubts and thought this position is so wrong for me. havin a crisis..

Did you stay in the role?, this happened to me.
@@Marsha-beI’m going through this now and I feel terrible about it 😣. Idk whether to tell them to see if I can move into another job there or wait bc once you tell them, they may just end the employment. They are about to move everything over to me and schedule a bunch of stuff to clients. No idea what to do bc I can’t be without work but I also can’t wait until I’m too far in. The worst
This happened to me, I'm into my 2nd week of the job and the learning curve is tremendous,
been thinking if this is the right position I want to be in for the next few years.
@@PassiveLearner you will figure it out. As my post said above it happened to me at a new job. I just gave notice and got a job offer that pays even more than this job I left my prior employer for which was already a bigger bump. Things will happen how it’s meant to 🙏🏻
Thanks I'm so depressed over my new job
So sorry to hear that ~ I've been there too! I hope this video was helpful. I also have a video on my channel with 8 tips for things you can do if you're really unhappy at work, but can't quit the job for whatever reason. Here's that link: ruclips.net/video/0hvjibMOR58/видео.html
I'm currently in this situation right now as we speak.
@Traves corner , same here ..... I effing hate the job that i started since last week.
@@danidh7654 I left I couldn't take it anymore. It makes no sense to make yourself suffer regardless of how much the salary maybe. Your mental health is more important to you. Because these companies don't care about us really. You're just a number and have to deal with crap from the negative people who makes the working atmosphere negative.
Me too 😭
I notice i keep changing jobs because culture, lack of raises, overwhelming workload. Not bc i feel like i need to make a career change. Its more about these companies having horrible training, not flexible regarding hybrid or remote options.
I deal with this same problem. I am miserable everywhere
How are things going for you now?, currently miserable and trying to find direction 😢
@@AndreaFlackWetherald Thanks Andrea!
Oh dear these situations never end well ! Please start looking asap
Terrible
I agree job hoping isn't ideal but if you start a new job that isn't a good fit I say just quit. Your just wasting time.
EXACTLY.
LIFE IS WAY TOO SHORT FOR BEING MISERABLE AT A STUPID JOB.
ENJOY LIFE TO THE FULLEST
I know. I had ppl tell me to stay there and collect the money.. I hate that advice
I love the saying “we attract what we are not not what we want” That really resonated with my soul.
Thank you for letting me know - I'm glad that resonated!
I keep hearing people getting their dream role I started training on my new Job yesterday but I’m not really happy about it…ppl tell me give it a chance but idk 😞 I miss my old job but I can’t go back to it since they won’t hire me back for some reason…
I'm sorry to hear this Marisa! If you're feeling like you can't or don't want to quit this new role, the link below is a video on my channel where I share 8 things you can do to make a job work better for you/start feeling happier without leaving. ruclips.net/video/0hvjibMOR58/видео.html I hope that is helpful to you - if you are thinking about leaving, I highly recommend the Japanese concept of ikigai as a tool for considering next career steps.
It's never a good idea to go back to an old job after you've decided to leave. It's what's most comfortable to you, but is not the best choice long term. Consider it them doing you a favor.
Haha EXACTLY what I'm going through!
I loved my
Last job was there 15 years. Applies for a job for something I thought was similar and I don’t like it. I don’t know what to even begin to look for. So lost and confused
Same here. Trying not to regret my decision
Thank you so much for this video! As someone who feels professionally lost this was really great to hear ❤️
I'm so glad to hear this! Sending you loads of positivity as you work to determine the next right steps!

Here's the link to the video: ruclips.net/video/0hvjibMOR58/видео.htmlruclips.net/video/0hvjibMOR58/видео.html

Hi Andrea...great channel 👍.
I'm a guy living in UK and after 12 years left my job for a new one. I have since realised (after 1 week!) that I don't feel happy. I contacted my old human resources manager and have set up a meeting tomorrow about possibly returning. I'm single with few if any friends and find change difficult to deal with. Maybe that has something to do with why I'm finding it hard. Who knows?! By the way, loved that quote you read - we don't attract what we want, we attract who we are. I've heard about 'laws of attraction' and maybe that is where I'm going wrong! Anyway, this is the first video I have from you and loved it. From a new subscriber in England 🙂.

I don't agree with you on the attraction thing because I've went into every job extremely positive optimistic and ready to go with lots of enthusiasm yet sings turn out badly and they're always things I cannot control such as other people's behaviors and personalities etc.
I wish this resonates with me, but it just doesn't. Not sure if I can deal with a generation who thinks going to a job should be fulfilling or the center of your life. Good luck.

This is a misleading title. Obviously if someone hates every job they find, it’s them not the job. That is a very specific case though. This should be “what to do when you hate every job you start”. I don’t think most people are on that boat.
