As a former QA (game tester) for a AAA gaming company, I can tell you that we do tell the devs what’s going on, the director/ execs are the main issue, their laziness/ lack of care gets old. You can tell them the same bugs, and see the same things on the next patch that they bring in to test.
Because all they care about is stock and impressing the investors. It sickens me that quality is very absent. Same with glitchy Elders Scroll or Fallout. Unfinished game that has so many problems.
The only thing that will make things change is if people stop buying EA’s garbage. Until that happens it will stay the same so long as they have paying happy customers
I would be fine if one year he just re-released the previous year's Madden Review and just dubbed over each time they say the year or Madden number then truly he would have done the same amount of work on the review as they did the game.
Yep, having a base who loves the NFL and willing to buy the product (even if they think it could be better) year after year, combined with a core who will spend hundreds and up to thousands a year on MUT, means that EA will give bare minimum effort in order to maximize profits. I got into NFL around 2015, bought Madden 2016 and haven't bought one since (I have played a little on gamepass over the years). It really fucking sucks because, NFL could have an amazing game with this much money to work with and we get this sad excuse for american football "simulation".
U also gotta remember madden bought rights to nfl in 2005 which ended their only competition that is the best football game in history nfl2k5, them doing that they are the only game that can have nfl players and teams in the game, for 18 years they’ve held these rights🤦🏾♂️ I guarantee there’s someone out there who can make a football game 20 times better than what madden has put out in the last 12 years

It's interesting how the Game released with menus that took 3-5 seconds to respond. And then magically. a week later, after most people had used up their 10 hour demo, they patched it and it runs better than any Madden did before. (in terms of how fast you can move through the menus/ out of game). Still prefer NFL2K5 -
I've never played a single Madden game. But I've watched every one of the Angry Joe reviews on them. So even though they seem to monumentally suck, they still allow these wonderful reviews to be made! You suffer for us Joe, and I appreciate that!
Im not quite in the same boat, I played a demo Madden back in like 04, but have only bought like 4, maybe 5 Maddens since then. You aren't missing much. Sure fun can be had, but it gets old. I do not understand how people can buy it over and over again.

The best part about Joe's Madden reviews is how he always finds new and dynamic ways to insult and degrade EA for all their bullshit. And every time he makes one, i feel like watching all or some of the other ones over again. I was on the Madden team for ten years. Funny enough, you're spot on about a lot of things, especially Franchise. Wish the game could be good, but........oh well. Blame QA all you want, but they do their job. The problem with this game is at its core, not on QA. PS: Trust me, 90% of the senior management team or lead devs do zero gaming at all. They don't listen to any feedback outside of Reddit. They don't go to RUclips except to post their own hype videos. Senior management is more likely to be watching movies/schmoozing between meetings, not improving the game. Love the yearly roasting, but I was seriously the only person on my team to watch them. They actively avoid the negative stuff outside their "influencers".
This more or less matches what my suspicions were. There's zero competition to drive the management to be invested in the product, and there's zero pressure from the NFL (who seems more concerned with profit than product quality across the board) to drive management as well. It's probably a fantastic job to have as a project manager, tbh. 🙄
I remember in either NHL '97 or '98 as a kid, the anouncers would attempt to pronounce your created characters name. Me and my friend would love laughing at the attempts. Sports games are literally leagues worse than the late 90's.
I don't feel like AJ gets enough credit for his ability to turn the most lengthy rants into some of the most coherent review scores ever. Whenever he builds up to his rating of a game, I always mentally guess what he's going to say based on everything that came before, and my prediction always matches his score. It's a real talent he has since he actually uses the full 1-10 range, rather than just sticking a 7 on everything like most outlets.
If I had to guess why they bought the ESPN license even though they barely use it... it was to shut out the possibility of having *any* competition in the field of football games.
As a South African NFL fan who never had the privilege to play American Football, this is the closest we'll get to experience the sport.. It's depressing that i have to resort to playing Madden 07 or 2k5 as it's superior in every way imaginable to modern titles.. Keep doing your thing AJ.
You'll probably learn more about the game with '07. As a Brit in the States, I got sick of ads every 3-6 minutes and I don't hate the sport, but that NFL license & EA are both AAA turds at this point.

I don't play madden, I don't know the rules of american football, I never even watched a game of it. But Joe's reviews of madden are always a special moment for me. And universe knows how i feel sorry for american football fans for not having a single recent good game about it. The hardest part of these reviews is I genuinely think Joe needs to add text for which version of the game he is currently showing because I'm constantly confused whether the footage currently being shown is from the current game getting reviewed or last year's version.

It's definitely something worth looking into but then again just about most things are falsely advertised so not entirely sure how a judge would rule on this case. Depends on the judge's perspective and beliefs and what they value.

Such a breath of fresh air as a PC FIFA player. I went through this entire crisis with people hyping 23/FC24, the amount of disdain ea has for its own players is nuts. The crossplay thing ruined the game’s release cycle for us. We don’t even get together to play anymore. Bummer. Someone else desperately wants and deserves these licenses

People still continue to buy EA'S sports games because there is virtually no other competition, which is by design. As a result, they have zero incentive to actually make a game that not only is worth the money, but also respects the player's time, and frankly, their intelligence as a consumer.

I used to love football games. My favorite thing as a kid who played Pop Warner getting to start in NCAA with your character in High school, take him through college, import him to the nfl and play out his time there, letting you literally play your created character through almost their whole life and career. It was a hell of an experience. Winning championships actually meant something. And hat was almost 20 years ago. Fucking crazy.
That was genuinely one of the coolest experiences in video gaming and just so fun to do. It made me so hopeful about the future of gaming and I couldn't help but wonder where things would go. Welp.

I remember playing All Pro Football 2k8. They had animations that tied to specific injuries. You could tell what part of the body was injured most of the time by the animation that played. There was one where the ball carrier would fall awkwardly on his arm, and it would always be an arm related injury.
When NBA 2k had the ESPN license they literally had the ESPN NBA pregame show, with actual coaches getting pre game or post game interviews with David Aldridge and actual star NBA players with their actual voices (over hundreds of them ) Also had their NBA finals pre and post game Also every player has their signature moves, taunts and mannerisms even players from the 1970s-2010s 2k used ESPN and actually has authenticity with the actual NBA and they make a tenth of what EA Madden makes and blows them out of the water
I still play it today. The more I play it the more awesome the game is. It has so much stuff Madden dont have. The one injury when the dude starts limping and grabbing his leg in the middle of the play is the one I see the most. The gang tackling looks right in all pro. The refs throwing the flag and turning the mic up to say what the penalty is. There is so much detail that Madden misses thats in a 16 year old game.
That was the last real good football sim game .They need to make another one and let the MUT FXGATS play MUT while the rest of us play a good football all game

I can not play a sports game without the presentation being on point.. “MLB the Show” and NBA 2K are the gold standards of Sports game presentation today, but NFL 2K5 was at a whole other level with Chris Berman. I got my dad Madden 06 when it came out with my Christmas money. He played it for years. The franchise mode and superstar mode were good. I tried out Madden 2018 at a friend's house and I felt like EA owed me money.
Haven't played a Madden game since Madden himself was on the cover, but I'll never miss these videos because you can tell how passionate Joe is about the franchise! He deserves more, and so does everyone else.

MrHurricaine is a talented content creator for Madden. He had been getting the game every year, but finally took EA to task on Madden 22. He refused to buy it because he said it was just a copy and paste. They didn't do enough. Then Madden 23 comes along. He admitted to me that it was a bad game, but he bought it because, "They at least added enough things for me to make new content with." The thing he doesn't realize is that because he makes the good content, people say, "You're the reason why I bought this game." They don't realize HE is the one making it fun. The game isn't good. It doesn't come with the content creator and their storylines. What was also funny to watch is him having to cancel series time and time again because the game corrupted his franchise files, a problem that has been in the game for a few years in a row now, and I bet will happen with 24. But, he admitted he is buying a bad game and making content for it just for the views. Lost respect for him.

46:04 is a major supporting character from Mass Effect and put his face in the game. As a big Mass Effect fan I instantly realised that EA had sunk to a level I didn't think possible. It's interesting how the Game released with menus that took 3-5 seconds to respond. And then magically. a week later, after most people had used up their 10 hour demo, they patched it and it runs better than any Madden did before. (in terms of how fast you can move through the menus/ out of game). Still prefer NFL2K5 -

I've never played a single Madden game. But I've watched every one of the Angry Joe reviews on them. So even though they seem to monumentally suck, they still allow these wonderful reviews to be made! You suffer for us Joe, and I appreciate that!

Im not quite in the same boat, I played a demo Madden back in like 04, but have only bought like 4, maybe 5 Maddens since then. You aren't missing much. Sure fun can be had, but it gets old. I do not understand how people can buy it over and over again.
There really was a streak for like 10 years where all they did was REMOVE features from the game. Also, the game is worse than it seems from these reviews, somehow

I don't understand. How can they fail at making a simple game about a single sport so catastrophically? This could be a minigame in GTA or Yakuza, and it'd be more polished. As a single minigame. Instead, they focused all their efforts on it and made pure shite.

I was on the Madden team for ten years. Funny enough, you're spot on about a lot of things, especially Franchise. Wish the game could be good, but........oh well. Blame QA all you want, but they do their job. The problem with this game is at its core, not on QA.
PS: Trust me, 90% of the senior management team or lead devs do zero gaming at all. They don't listen to any feedback outside of Reddit. They don't go to RUclips except to post their own hype videos. Senior management is more likely to be watching movies/schmoozing between meetings, not improving the game. Love the yearly roasting, but I was seriously the only person on my team to watch them. They actively avoid the negative stuff outside their "influencers".

I don't feel like AJ gets enough credit for his ability to turn the most lengthy rants into some of the most coherent review scores ever. Whenever he builds up to his rating of a game, I always mentally guess what he's going to say based on everything that came before, and my prediction always matches his score. It's a real talent he has since he actually uses the full 1-10 range, rather than just sticking a 7 on everything like most outlets.

The hardest part of these reviews is I genuinely think Joe needs to add text for which version of the game he is currently showing because I'm constantly confused whether the footage currently being shown is from the current game getting reviewed or last year's version.

In all seriousness, I think EA would lose a class action lawsuit for false advertising.
If the Madden Community actually came together and filed one they probably would. It's definitely something worth looking into but then again just about most things are falsely advertised so not entirely sure how a judge would rule on this case. Depends on the judge's perspective and beliefs and what they value.

I used to love football games.
My favorite thing as a kid who played Pop Warner getting to start in NCAA with your character in High school, take him through college, import him to the nfl and play out his time there, letting you literally play your created character through almost their whole life and career.
It was a hell of an experience. Winning championships actually meant something.
And hat was almost 20 years ago. Fucking crazy.
That was genuinely one of the coolest experiences in video gaming and just so fun to do. It made me so hopeful about the future of gaming and I couldn't help but wonder where things would go.

I remember playing All Pro Football 2k8. They had animations that tied to specific injuries. You could tell what part of the body was injured most of the time by the animation that played. There was one where the ball carrier would fall awkwardly on his arm, and it would always be an arm related injury.
When NBA 2k had the ESPN license they literally had the ESPN NBA pregame show, with actual coaches getting pre game or post game interviews with David Aldridge and actual star NBA players with their actual voices (over hundreds of them )
Also had their NBA finals pre and post game
Also every player has their signature moves, taunts and mannerisms even players from the 1970s-2010s
2k used ESPN and actually has authenticity with the actual NBA and they make a tenth of what EA Madden makes and blows them out of the water

I still play it today. The more I play it the more awesome the game is. It has so much stuff Madden dont have. The one injury when the dude starts limping and grabbing his leg in the middle of the play is the one I see the most. The gang tackling looks right in all pro. The refs throwing the flag and turning the mic up to say what the penalty is. There is so much detail that Madden misses thats in a 16 year old game.

I can not play a sports game without the presentation being on point.. “MLB the Show” and NBA 2K are the gold standards of Sports game presentation today, but NFL 2K5 was at a whole other level with Chris Berman. It’s a shame that no one in EA cares about the fundamentals anymore.

I got my dad Madden 06 when it came out with my Christmas money. He played it for years. The franchise mode and superstar mode were good. I tried out Madden 2018 at a friend's house and I felt like EA owed me money.

I keep on rewatching minute 25 over and over again. The way Joe says that you can show off your gear online has me in tears each time, especially after Other Joe says that some of the purchaseable gear is a good deal. “Geeeeaaarrrrr” I can’t stop laughing!

Someone that is such a big fan that they cannot see the problems it has and deny's any and all negativity
Or someone that gets overly excited for literally nothing other than views and attention, and that they are fully aware that the game sucks, yet buys it and play pretend anyway

MrHurricaine is a talented content creator for Madden. He had been getting the game every year, but finally took EA to task on Madden 22. He refused to buy it because he said it was just a copy and paste. They didn't do enough. Then Madden 23 comes along. He admitted to me that it was a bad game, but he bought it because, "They at least added enough things for me to make new content with."
The thing he doesn't realize is that because he makes the good content, people say, "You're the reason why I bought this game." They don't realize HE is the one making it fun. The game isn't good. It doesn't come with the content creator and their storylines. What was also funny to watch is him having to cancel series time and time again because the game corrupted his franchise files, a problem that has been in the game for a few years in a row now, and I bet will happen with 24.
But, he admitted he is buying a bad game and making content for it just for the views. Lost respect for him.

I don't even need to watch his channel or go to his comments section to see that MMG is cringe. That guy needs a wake up call.

46:04 is a major supporting character from Mass Effect and put his face in the game. As a big Mass Effect fan I instantly realised that EA had sunk to a level I didn't think possible. The fact they couldn't even be bother to create new faces, but steal from other games just proved they need to bin the entire franchise.

The standard has been a lot higher than what Madden has done for the last few years. How this franchise after years and years of poor reception is still going and making a lot of money is baffling. I guess whales and addicts really do make companies a lot of money.

Nothing fucking changes. A sports fan doesn't care about CRPG's, they've never even heard of DnD. They'll buy madden / FIFA / NBA every single year and purchase a new roster of players. This "putting EA to shame", what a fucking joke. If it truly mattered, EA would've bent the knee years ago if it was bad for their business, but no. They can keep rehashing the same game over and over for decades and the money just keeps flowing in, they lose absolutely nothing from people giving these games bad reviews. The ones playing these types of games don't watch reviews, they aren't "gamers" per se, they just buy a thing with their favorite thing in it.

Angry Joe, OJ, and Alex put more effort in these videos then EA puts into their Games that get reviewed.
What's crazy is that the whole injury thing still happens a lot because I play franchise mode and literally after every two plays throughout the game a player on my team or the other team gets injured🤦🏾♂️
You know your in for one hell of a good angry review when it’s not only madden but it’s over an hour long. I’ll keep up my tradition of madden games by staying the hell out of the way and just watch joe tear the game apart.
