At least his friend was smarter than him and wore his seatbelt
In some cases it’s better to not have one on
@@zanehardesty1252 Yeah that attitude gets you killed. I'm sure the kid in the Trans Am that rolled 20 times at 120mph would have done a lot better without the seatbelt. He probably would have flown out the t-top and got crushed as the car rolled over him. Volvo invented the 3 point seat belt 65 years ago, wear the damn thing, its probably prevented more deaths and injuries than any other single invention since then.
And its aways best to not wear a pesky helmet
@@crazytrain7114 AGREED!!!!
@@AaronSmith-kr5yf no hes actually right in some cases its better if your not wearing one, i always wear mine but in high school i had a friend him and his brother where coming to school one morning and hit some black ice at about 40 put the car into a light pole, the police officer who handled the case said that had my friend not been wearing one he might have actually lived.
his brother died on impact in case you wanted to know, he was also wearing a seatbelt.
Damn. These knuckleheads got from Indiana to Brazil in 25 minutes! Impressive.
For me the fun part about this story is I live between the two towns he is talking about, so I know every road detail.
Same, grew up in Heritage Lake so I know the backroads that come up to that area, not as much as the ones to Brazil though.
i somewhag know the area too
My mon told me this story years ago….thats crazy i drive that road all the time
I don’t know shit about it!
same, my family lives down in Worthington
Rural kids, myself included, felt somewhat invincible probably because we had more than our fair share of close calls. When I was 12 or 13, I was in the bed of an F100 that rolled over an embankment on a gravel road. It was a slow motion accident, but still, a truck landed on me. Later, I was riding shotgun in a buddies 76 Trans Am 455SD 4spd when he took a slight bend in the road too fast and launched us 100 feet into a freshly planted corn field. No one called the cops, the farmer pulled us out with his tractor and my buddy went back a few days later and replanted the rows he took out. We've also seen some stuff. One of my classmates watched his brother get his leg ripped off after getting caught in the PTO of their tractor. I saw a guy cut off the tip of his finger off while cutting tobacco. Then there's just the general danger of using machines. I almost put my dads eye out with a bush hog. Half an inch to the left or right and he would have lost an eye. Instead, he has a scar on the bridge of his nose, right between his eyes.
Literally survivorship bias. I bet you aso knew a few people that got killed in accidents and that was considered fairly normal.
You just never added those stories together
@VGMO17 you'd lose that bet.
No such thing as a bad small town street race if nobody dies.
This is a fantastic addition to Pontiac Trans Am lore. It was driven as reckless as expected, annihilated like a rock star and the owner beat the law!
Great story! Lol
Poor Trans Am
The WS6 will always be a car everyone knows. What an iconic badass car!
The 4th gen F-bodies were really safe. I got t-boned in my '00 WS6, shoved across 5 lanes, and I walked away with just a mark on my side from the seat belt. Everyone in the other car had to go to the hospital.
You ain’t wrong! My mom rolled a WS6, going 95 miles an hour, hit a fiber optic box, took it off at the ground, and got herself out of the car and noped out of there before the cops showed up!
Seatbelts save lives
But also do speed limits and obeying them
@@jdorffer It's not the speed that kills. Depending on where lower speeds are more dangerous because many ppl feel like they can be on the phone or whatever amd not pay attention because "eh it's not that fast so what could happen?" and then somebody dies because of it while at higher speeds ppl are less likely thinking they can do that.
Just one example.
It's ppl being stupid and not the speed itself that kills. Otherwise here in Germany there would be endless of dead bodies on the autobahn because we have many parts with unrestricted speed limits yet we have one of the lowest fatality rates.
@@jdorffer yea true but only do dumb stuff where only one that could hurt is yourself
they do but sometimes they are the cause of lose of life
Idk how some guys step in dog shit and find a diamond.
It's about knowing what to say and when to say it, but most importantly, when to not say anything. Not that I condone lies, deception, and flagrant violations of the law, but I've seen how the system works.
Im a simple guy... i see a Fire bird i click the video. It may not be a trans am but damn it looks good. The Ram Air hood really tickles my fancy. I own one and see it everyday but still these cars don't get the exposure they deserve.
Hilarious story... Although I think the real "when small-town street racing goes wrong" is all the people who died crashing into trees and telephone poles.
Two guys I grew up with were racing in my hometown and one guy lost control and hit a telephone pole... He died on the scene. His daughter was less than a year old. My buddy who didn't crash allegedly fled the scene and allegedly lived with the guilt of killing his friend by street racing. Not that there was anything he could have done... maybe "don't race" but... wasn't the first time. Wouldn't have been the last if it weren't for that crash that ensured it didn't happen again.
Of all the people I knew who died in vehicle crashes I think there's fewer than 5 who weren't alcohol related (my hometown drinks hard and often). The guy who crashed in a street race was one of them.
Indiana resident here, everyone I know wears a seatbelt from way back when. Glad everyone lived!!!
Dude sounds like he’s glamorizing the whole situation. That fast on public streets where families and little kids are is a nogo.
Welcome to the internet, I think you’re really going to hate it here.
@@patrickm4566 150mph+ on public streets is something everyone should hate when it’s their little kids on the road.
@@THATMOFODIRTwhy would kids be out on the road at 1 in the morning? Soccer moms and dads drive like psychos too, dadgum. I’m not condoning that foolishness, but, damn man. Lighten up. My god , some kids could be running with scissors! Right now! You better go save them.
@@paulbates2626 How do you know other 1am? Sure, lots of people drive like psychos, some at night and some during normal hours. 150 can still leave a family without their father who just happens to work swing shift. You just don’t think it’ll happen to you which they all thought before it did happen.
@@THATMOFODIRThuh, life is dangerous and decisions have consequences.
These stories are pure gold!!
Absolutely love the channel, and these stories✌️
I have a similar story sbout a 94 Formula TA. Also with balding rear tires. I was 17 and OWE teacher asked me to go pick up a student after I was already counted on attendance for the day. People have always said we should have sued the school district, but I sleep good at night.
I wish I knew when this was. I’m from Brazil and raised in Greencastle, directly behind the state police post…I hope none of us were involved😂😂
Small town stories are the best stories.
Watch out for Barney Fife!
Man, what a great story! This is why I sub this channel.
Damn! Sounds like the stuff I use to do in 80's. Sent shivers down my spine.
The good ole days of crown vics and impalas. If you had something with 350+ hp they weren't much of a worry. I had a few cases that I left it buried on the floor when they were going to opposite direction. Local cops generally didn't even bother to hit their brakes, the state boys always tried though. The new chargers are sneaky, you never know if its a 3.6 or a hemi at 1st glance at speed. Between the hemi chargers and wide use of lasers, they became a completely different beast to conquer.
Some of those explorers haul ass too, ecoboost v6 AWD
Orange Ram? Or Dakota? What year was this? Might have been a Hemi GTX truck if it was 04 or later.
Were 2 cars showed in the pics?? Because it went from a formula body with a TA front bumper to a Trans am body and back to formula a few times.
Yup, I too noticed the flip flop between a T/A WS6 and a rarer Formula optioned with the WS6 package. I know there are at least 3 and maybe 4 or more cars shown as "representative" and not sure any of these are of the actual car in the story. And I am pretty sure at least one was post 2000. Each look to be stock and I think the "level up" spoiler on a formula was a viable option giving some the Trans-Am with a W68 nose look. (I was considering the Formula WS6 Option of Firehawk, but they cut the order period short and it became existing stock or CETA order only in late 2001, if I remember correctly).
Ive got good stories likenthus from my syreet racing days whwn i was very young. Thankfully we never got hurt or had any crazy wrecks
Good gracious! What a story!
Anyone reading this familiar with the Pontiac G
G8 GXP in the Woodlands Tx years ago that wound up through the roof of the fitness center next to the highway?
Albanian from my HS woodshop class was killed in the back seat of his 99 TA, while his cousin was drag racing another LS1 in Macomb Mi.
Talking about a Trans Am while showing Formulas has me messed up. Lol
I was thinking the same thing..
I love that 300zx looks similar to mine
As a Trans Am owner, HELL YEAH!
I've got a ton of small town drag races growing up in small town Malden Missouri. y'all can believe that 😂
dude was beyond lucky but the seatbelt did help big time.
100 percent an Indiana thing. Seatbelts are optional cops don’t even stop you for it.
I'm from the Columbus area and know exactly were your speaking about lol
That's crazy to walk away from that.
Not every story can be a good one
Sometimes, (although rarely) you win!
Vinwiki/Ed. Ask this man if he got his 300 in 1997 and if so does he know its backstory. If it came from Alabama it could be my first car I had for a week but my parents sold. Long story.
Saw the photo and was hoping it would be Rabbit.
We may need to send out a search party.
I hope he got another ws6. I miss mine.
1st she stuck. 2nd she stuck. Mid way in 3rd white smoke out the rears. Pole , fire hydrant, pole & ditch. Failure to control vehicle ticket.
"The only thing left of it was the leather seats and engine that was worthwhile." I think one seat needed a good leaning after that.
Seatbelt man. Wear your damn seatbelt.
That was a good one
Unfortunately I've seen a lot of those TAs go through the same thing as the one in this story. Too much power for inexperienced drivers. Especially after they've burned the tread off the tires.
All I want to know is, the car in the thumbnail, is it a Formula with a T/A hatch, or a T/A with a Formula front bumper?
Both lucky you lived. Don’t cry. 😢
Boys....we've been there eh?!!!!
Where is Greencastle ? It’s in Brazil ??????
Indiana
@@TheTubaEmporer absolutely horrible details in this story.
@@wildman318 They showed a map from Greencastle to Brazil....
What he described is how almost all young factory workers behaved all over the Midwest. I know. I was one of them.
Damn that's fuked up 😆
That man got LUCKY. That could've gone MUCH worse.
Love the indiana stuff
The not botted comment you are looking for
Remember my history or science or something told me he flipped along with friends a 70s camaro all cuz of drinking or something
G-town Dawg
And the ahole didn't offer to pay you for the ticket??? Or even a courtesy reach around??😂😂😂
This is why you never take the cover for someone. Just look out for yourself!!!
Yep, I’ve known people that…who are now middle age, not done shit with their life, and sit drinking Coors and reliving “the glory days”
Not wearing your seatbelt is just as stupid as not wearing a helmet on a motorcycle
Never admit anything to the police, no matter how cool the accomplishment they won't see it that way.
I hate when those deer run out of nowhere.
I miss old vinwiki stories. Just dumbasses snitching on themselves about reckless driving now.
Couldn't agree more.
What are the old ones? Statute of limitations should be the name of this channel.
I prefer this to millionaires bragging about dumb shit like blowing up cars for nfts or getting a bad ticket for doing dumb things
This is actually like, believable and involves not insanely rich out of this world people
Trying anything remotely fun in Indiana? Straight to jail.
I used to be slightly concerned about the safety of my 99 z28 in a collision but after this story I feel borderline invincible lol
Mate, the girls do not care about you doing burnouts haha.
Stupid is as stupid does.
And you wonder why how you survived.....
How did this guy get on here to tell a story? I have better car stories than that...
Don't remember his name or what he looked like 😂
Fun story but google maps estimates 25 minutes to get from Greencastle to Brazil
So what.
DAMMMNNN 🤬
I’m 50/50 on the seat belt. My cousin died because of wearing a seatbelt, had a friend in H/S that had his head cut off from a seatbelt. Just luck of the draw if you live or die by the belt!
😴
This the same kinda guy that says "takeovers are bad for the culture"
As if a person doesn’t live and learn?…
Takeovers are stupid and bad for the culture.
This sounds like a bunch of irresponsible teenage punks to me....and you are bragging about it ???
So much cap in this shit
which part?
Could this guy not separate himself from his beer long enough to do this interview?
Disgusting. Plus taking photos flipping the bird (and bragging about it all these years later) and drinking beer on camera while videoing a VINwiki episode? You give Hoosiers a bad name. I have no idea why this was even recorded, much less uploaded.
@vinwiki @edbolian
I just don’t like these videos. Seem beneath the channel. Squidliness just isn’t interesting. Let’s hear from road heroes that went out on the track and found out they were bunnies. Let’s model better behavior.
(Yes, I did some stupid things in my day. I also did fun stuff competently. I buried the speedometer of my 340 Duster every day of the summer before college. There’s was a straight patch of divided 4-lane highway between two exits I needed to drive home. Hop on, blast 1.5 miles, hop off.)
Wow what a story, so a guy straight narcing his friend out for recklessly racing himself or whatever. I guess vinwiki is pressed for car stories from their above average classed friends these days?
Statute of limitations 😂
I raced one of th we m 9n way to the tire shop one morning and I used to love showboating and the tranny being so short the state police on other side of median didn't see him he saw cop and slowed s I the cop got me for burning tire and leaving lanes with rear end. Seeing he obviously didn't notice the race he came to car and ask me where I'm heading so fast and early I said Town Fair tire. He then asked if I got freebies and if that's the reason I was acting foolish. My co worker started hitting my leg because he we knows I used to grab all kinds of great take offs in between new sets and that set was free but I bit my tongue said no I pay just like you and give him a slight wink he then looked smirked threw my shit in my face and said act right and get out of here. Funny thing he caught the smoke show on a regular street but I let him pull me over on highway because I hit exit but decided I wasn't running I didn't have time before work lmao. The good old days. Supercharge a foxbody with Lil head work and no one could touch it on pump gas no one especially in the 1/4.
