    Gil Kane was very under appreciated artists for me until recently, I started to see all his work in the past and was amazed by his body of work, he did so many classic covers for Marvel and DC. This was a true hard working penciler.

    John Broome did a great job fleshing out the Jordan family with Hal's two brothers and spouses who appeared every so often, plus his Uncle Titus, but it wasn't until the 70s, that Hal's nephew, also named Hal Jordan, became a teen hero in his own right as Air Wave. The younger Hal went on to appear in backup stories in Action Comics alternating month-to-month with the Atom. The Jordan family was a big deal at DC pre-Crisis.

    First I want to apologise for my rude comments during the live stream. That was uncalled for and I am sorry.
    Great retrospective as usual. Sinestro has come a long way since the Silver age. As much as I complain about Geoff John's writing, I really liked his work on Sinestro. Geoff made Thaal more layered and Nuanced.
    Gil Kane was a great comic artist. His alien designs were very memorable and suited the tone of the Silver age GL comic.

      Actually Sinestro was growing as character even before Johns wrote him. In the silver age, unlike other GL rogues, despite being a bit generic, Sinestro had things that made him interest, like the fact he used to be a member of the GL Corps and even a reason to become evil, as he explains to Hal in their encounter, "being good prevents Hal from doing what's necessary". Then the post crisis universe gave him a upgrade, by making Sinestro Hal's mentor and also made him more unstable and delusional with his quest of keeping order in the universe.
      Johns just took this concepts and develop them even futher, by establishing Sinestro as the best lantern in the corp and also making him and Jordan friends before his betrayal, making their rivalry even more tragic.

    • @fishin4bass2002
      @fishin4bass2002 2 года назад

      @@alexandrefrauches132 I liked the fact he was originally a GL that abused his power but I really enjoyed how they changed his origin and made him Hal’s Mentor post crisis. Even better was when Geoff Johns made him more of a grey character who was capable of Good. Johns does such a good job of giving different layers to villains and making them human.

    • @alexandrefrauches132
      @alexandrefrauches132 2 года назад

      @@fishin4bass2002 That's what I like about Johns as write. While he has his flaws, he is a comic book fan, specially from the silver and bronze age and know how to bring back this classic concepts and give them a upgrade and expand their mythology. His runs on the JSA, GL and Superman are clear proof of that.

    I would like to see an evil version of the Green Lantern Corps. that come from the anti-matter universe of Earth-3, which is the dark, mirror universe of the Crime Syndicate of Amerika. They could show an evil extradimensional doppelganger of Hal Jordan as the Yellow Power Ring who was given his Power Ring and Energy Battery from the Weaponers from the Planet Qward, who are the evil versions of the Guardians of the Universe from the Planet Oa. Power Ring then teams up with the Yellow Lantern Corps. and they have evil versions of the Golden Age Green Lantern Alan Scott, John Stewart, Jade, Arisia, G'nort and Kilowog, all join forces to try to kill their super-hero arch-enemies on the Planet Earth, specifically the good versions of Sinestro, Guy Gardner, Goldface, Sonar, Kanjar Ro, Manga Khan, Mister Nebula and the Scarlet Skier.
    It would be interesting to see how that plays out. How do they fight against an evil version of the Green Lantern Corps.? What would they be? A good version of the Sinestro Corps.? With Green Energy similar to the good Green Lanterns? What are the requirements for being a Yellow Power Ring? Instead of being totally honest and totally fearless, you must be totally dishonest and totally into making other people fearful? It would make for a good experiment.

    • @alexandrefrauches132
      @alexandrefrauches132 2 года назад +1

      That would be a interest idea, although I think would be more cool if Earth 3 Sinestro was part of the YL Corp alongside Hal and in this version he betrays them after realizing their crimes and this result in him being banish to the main universe, being rescue by the Guardians, who could give him the ring that once belong to his counterpart and help him make a GL corp in Earth 3 to defeat the YL corps and act as symbol of hope in that dark twisted universe
      Personally, what would like to see is a story where Hal and Sinestro switch rings, with Hal using the yellow ring of fear while Sinestro recover his green ring of will. As the two use the rings powers they start to experience and see the world around them through the other perspective. Despite not liking to use fear as weapon, Hal start to notice that it truly can be a very powerful and useful weapon, with him becoming tempt to become like his enemy, while Sinestro, as he uses the green ring, he reminds of the time he had in the Corps, expressing a bit of regret for things end up and maybe considering reform and rejoin the corp. Whatever happens to Hal and Sinestro in the end, this story could end with the two having a much better understanting of each other.
