It’s hilarious that they only put female writers on Harley Quinn now, this is the one thing in comics that I absolutely despise. The matching up of the writers with the characters, it’s so stupid that it’s funny.
It’s kinda weird that Harley Quinn is basically the fourth pillar of DC, I wouldn’t mind as much if she was still in her traditional costume with the jester hat, dang I miss old Harley

Harley was never the “fourth pillar”. She’s a fad character that got popular for 5 minutes during N52 where DC was desperately trying to turn her into Deadpool. Even people who liked “Deadpool Harley” are stick of her. She’s pushed into everything and completely takes over any story she’s part of. I really wish that DC would just give Harley the Scrappy Doo treatment and just pretend she never existed at all.
@@snowbunnie1113 I'd prefer she go back to the Harlequin Jester. Either as Joker's sidekick once more, a clown themed vigilante, or just be proof Batman is right and his rogue's gallery CAN be redeemed if they try and put in the effort and accept their fault/crimes.
Two separate narratives going side by side and colliding, with Darkseid as a focal point, sounds interesting, but I don't trust them in the slightest not to mess it up.
What seems to happen nowadays is a new comics series will come out. The first issue is ok or great, and then it goes downhill in the following issues, usually very fast.
I just got into comics after being too afraid to dive into them fully after all these years, but THIS has me extremely excited. I just hope the new runs are enjoyable cause I like everything I've seen so far.
I am excited. This gives me the hope DC might let both universes clash at some point similar to Hickavengers.
Detective Comics I think gets overlooked. There have been great stories not many people talk about and I hope the next writer will be amazing as I have dropped the main Batman title after Gotham War. I think Ram V’s run has been good but definitely hard to read at first when it’s on a monthly release. Honestly I think it’d be cool if we just had some good ol’ classic Batman adventures for Detective

I wish they could somehow fix the mainline universe, New 52 did irrefutable damage for legacy characters like Tim Drake and characters like Cassandra Cain are just shadows of their former selves. Legacy characters have been so disrespected under Didio’s reign, and by bringing back people who were gone or retired pre-52 now we have multiple people as robins, multiple batgirls, multiple flashes but with all the history basically gone. I don’t know how invested I can be in the Absolute universe with another version of these characters. So now we will get two universes where characters will never be 100% of how they should be
First it was All-Star then it was Earth One now it is Absolute.

@@alancooper6443 Ah. Yeah, all these reboots are insane. Remember when they did the very first reboot to smooth everything out and try to avoid repeating the insane escalation of powers Superman had?
Here's my prediction: In a couple of months maybe a year 2 years tops Absolute Comics is not gonna work bringing in another Crisis type event that gets rid of the Absolute universe and will have a soft reboot of the main universe.
It’s DC, they will surely manage to merge these two universes in the most confusing way possible. … now all we need is a name for it that includes crisis.

Why can't an event from DC just be the villains fighting the hero's on Prime Earth. Why does it always gotta be the end of the universe.
Do something unexpected. Give Vixen, Black Lightning and Mr. Terrific a super team that could rival the Justice League. Add new characters or add the Milestone Characters, either way it would be something new.
Imagine we got a Michael Carpenter like hero, especially if he or she was European and represent a Europe trying to rival America with all her supers.

@@mr.dccomics9018 I'm sick of multiverses cause they're a cop out to never have risks or consequences in either Marvel or DC.
Also, I like your idea albeit that's not quite what I was going for. But, either way, renew and restore the Justice League and make our heroes actually virtuous, likable, and interesting again, and I'd be sold on DC. I'm more Marvel guy but I've always loved Batman and currently getting into Wonder Woman. DC's grand cities like Gotham and Metropolis intrigue me as well as it more openly embracing and utilizing myths and magic.

Aquaman and his Magic of the Ocean.
The Metal Men. The Challengers of the Unknown. Doom Patrol. The Question. The Spectre. Animal Man. I, Vampire.
Black Lightning, Mr. Terrific, Vixen.
The Milestone Universe.
All under used characters.
Mix the up.
The Wildcats etc.
@@mr.dccomics9018 you know why? because Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and Justice League have always better number no matter how bad the writing is while those characters you mentioned are all B or sometimes even C listers. They might be good but it would need to be marketted better to get people invested in them

Absolute Wonder Woman's sword looks almost like the buster sword from FF7. Anyhow, i can't see the Absolute Universe lasting for too long. Give it a few months, and DC will likely give us a rebooted universe where the Absolute Universe and the Prime Universe merge into one universe.
Why didn't they just continue with the Earth One books? Also, there was a guy online that had Ultimate DC concept art online.

@billybarnett2846 it's because the Earth One books were not successful, DC didn't plan everything through with the Earth One imprint, and that DC has a hole focused way too much on the main universe, especially during the time of the New 52 initiative.

@overlord6993 Batman was somewhat ok but not perfect. As for Wonder Woman's, DC Comics should have got someone else to do her Earth One book instead of Grant Morrison because it was bad.

11:05 I actually like long hair superman in context of Death of Superman. Copper age superman's mullet was iconic in that time and place when we all were rocking them ourselves. lol.
The design is clearly a slight homage to Black suit superman - which makes sense if you consider that the Black Suit was a very alien Krytonian outfit. By mixing the classic suit (and it's color tone) with its muted pallet, you are subtly implying thru the art that this super man is more alien than the traditional Sups.
I think the stubble and long hair are just part of the tribute, and to differentiate him visual from Prime Superman.
Honest questions. How many reboots has DC had since 2011? And, what is this current reboot called? Is it still "dawn of"?
Alright let’s see, we’ve had N52, All Star, Rebirth, Dark Crisis, Final Crisis, Dawn of DC and now Absolute Power. I think that’s all of them, not counting other failed spin offs like Earth one and Batman 89.

Reimagining the DC superheroes as underdogs. They sound like Marvel characters.
No kidding. Not to mention that the last time they did that, we got the New 52. And we all know how that went, don’t we?
Unlike New 52, this is not meant to be the one and only continuity meant to replace the old one.
For all intents and purposes, the Absolute universe pretty much is another Elseworlds run, just one that is intended to last longer than your typical oneshots, with multiple interconnected stories.

I might be down for this provided they really do something different with the universe this time. As in, the existence of Superhumans and Heroes dramatically changes the world they live in socially and culturally.

Sounds like it's going to blow up in the faces. I don't like being negative, especially about DC, but this just seems... Off. So, instead of repairing the mainline universe, we create an offshoot world, with Elseworlds style versions of the characters, that you were all hoping would get better, after so many years. There's barely any talent, in the DC offices, now they're dividing them? Like a brand split? They could've just spared us the whole song and dance about "new and exciting" takes, and just fired the gang of writers, who had been tearing the universe apart, and just reset the main storyline, before trying alternate takes.
I HOPE it's good, because I want to see DC do well, but I can't picture it.

So is this going to be separate universe or supplanting the Prime universe? Why does Batman look like Goonies Sloth in a bat suit? Superman looks like Ezra Miller.

Agree on your take on the new Superman - looks goofy. Not a fan. Darkseid as the "big bad" makes total sense, and is a welcome decision.
Honestly think Superman arriving on Earth already as a young adult is actually a pretty interesting take, which could fit better with the theme of Clark being an analog to immigrants.
Unlike the typical version of Supes who pretty much was grown up as a local Earthling despite Kryptonian heritage.

If Thompson lands the writing WW will be the one of the Trinity I’m most interested in. Superman and Batman look ridiculous IMO.

Batman is Bat Bane which makes sense insofar as if Batman is Broke. Then he needs some sort of super soldier serum to make up for the lack of cash for gadgets and elite training.

The only time imo multiverses would be fun for them again if they'd stop elaborating it and just give separate heroes just separate stories.
Like; tell stories. "One time; xyz had this case of abc and then this is how it happened..." you know? Like it was in their TV shows. Issues being stand alone with good stories and great character arcs can really help

Since Rainbow Rowell is writing a 3-part backup in Action Comics now, I'm totally calling it that she will be the new writer on Harley Quinn or Catwoman. I'm hoping a crime-oriented writer gets the gig on the latter. Also Absolute Universe looks like DC is absolutely, all-in trying to go after the manga market.

@@snowbunnie1113 I just watched a video with the rumored new writer (who!?!). I'm not certain if he is an upgrade or downgrade from my speculation.
New creative team on Titans? Called it! On hand, thank God as Taylor has been so boring and this Evil Raven arc has offered nothing new or remotely interesting as well as just sick of Taylor all together. Even the art in the latest issue sucks.
On the other hand, we may get someone who is even worst than Taylor, like Tini Howard/Leah Williams/Megan Fitzmartin level bad and just give us more of the same but worst. Maybe read more like fanfiction for the 2003 cartoon Titans. Lemire is a Titans fan and didn't ge to finish his Earth One TT, maybe this was one of his dream books he hinted at? It is nice to see Starfire in the promo though.
I want to wait and see about Absolute DC. For DC's sake I hope it lasts better than the previous attempts. It does feel like they are taking a page from current Ultimate Universe where its their popular heroes with a twist but like you said there's changing something at it's core so much what's the point? At least not redundant like Earth One became with the New 52.

Josh Williamson is the most successful? I would argue that Jeremy Adams is better. I don’t like Scott Snyder’s ideas at all.

How come people love Batman variant but hate Superman variants?
How many times can DC afford to do this? Seriously. New 52 was supposed to be the latest at great scale, but wasn't nearly as epic and well executed as the original one, which was the DC Universe emerging from Crisis on Infinite Earth. Furthermore, they threw at us Earth One, Convergence, and Black Label (the latter I honestly don't understand if it's out of continuity, or in continuity but for adult audiences), which, in my opinion, are rebranded Elseworlds. When you're out of ideas, resorting to gimmicks is easier than creating good products.

Honestly, the more I learn about it, the less interested I become. In particular, I do not like the suggestion that there seems to be a "larger story" that combines the absolute line with the prime universe.

"Superheroes as underdogs" is one of the most idiotic pitches I've ever heard.
Ironically, this is EXACTLY what is happening in "Absolute Power" right now!! Heroes as the underdogs, drained of all of their powers, being captured and hunted down like animals, and put in prison possibly indefinitely
So we had rebirth Lazarus Planet dawn of DC then we're going to have all in and absolute and let's see correct me if I'm wrong that's all within less than 4 years right
