For Superman, I just hope that the "without his usual humanity" is not equal to "we made him evil for the 9th time in ten years". I guess the closest point of comparison in my mind would be Gods and Monsters's Superman, where it is clear that he is not the one we know at all with radically different view of the world, but who have the depth necessary to be something beyond the tired trope.
Gods and Monsters Superman was so good. When Batman asked him why he helped him on the first day they met and Superman's answer was "You were hungry.", that's what convinced me that he really is Superman.
@@cis22 Yeah, God's and Monsters striked a good balance. He is definitively a more "evil" version of Superman, in the sense that he is not the shining paragon of hope that Clark is, but he is still at his core Superman. I hope this new version of Sup will takes some notes from Gods and Monsters because of that.

I think I'm most excited for this new Wonder Woman. Personally for me it's the Buster Sword and tattoos, she looks so cool and badass. Big sword,magic,potentially troubled past. She's basically an anime protagonist.

As a 6'6" powerlifter, I like this Batman Who Lifts and that they made him an absolute unit. The 250 lbs tidbit sounds a bit small versus the design, but the suit is supposed to add height, so I guess it's adding bulk as well.
All that said, regular Batman is said to be very strong and bench huge numbers whenever they show him train.

He wasn't that bad originally, but then he was used everywhere and every character would have a "who laughs" version of themselves (including the Harley quin who laughs. Which doesn't even make sense.) and they would hype up the batman who laughs as like the strongest and most powerful character ever.
In the end he was less of "what if batman broke his most important rule" to "what if joker was even more edgy and had more plot armor."
I think the stated height and weight for Batman don't translate well. Travis Kelce is 6'5" and 250 lbs, no way this Batman isn't much heavier than 250lbs for the amount of mass he's got going on.
Hafthor Bjornsson ("the Mountain" on GoT) is 6'9" and around 430 pounds! If this Batman is 6'6" and only 250, he must be wearing that puffy suit they use on Superman & Lois!
Bjornsson was actually measured at 6'7 at a convention and he accepted it

It's not that he's devoid of hope or humanity, far from its, it's that, the world snyder created emphasizes the worst of humanity, to the point where clark kent, not yet superman, has his true nature subdued. He's depressed, but depe inside, he tries to do the right thing. He's not yet Superman, he's not yet the symbol of hope, that's why the film is titled Man of Steel, but he is getting there. But his actions throughout the films have given people hope, despite the type of world they inhabit. Superman gave punisher batman a new sense of purpose in zsjl, he gave hope to diana, who at this point shunned herself from humanity, from man.

MoS: Clark learns to deal with grief and sacrifice, grappling with what it means to be the Superman.
BvS: Superman chooses to be better than Batman, to do things the right way, to not beutalize the villains. Batman in this movie acts like the punisher, that is the point. Batman is a dark reflection of who Superman could become, if he lets this snyder world get to him. Clark chose to be Superman, to give hope, to sacrifice himself. He changed Batman after this film and made wonder woman come out of hiding. He did it theough two key actions. 1. Despite losing to Batman, he remained humble, and asked him to save his kother. 2. He held the kryptonite spear againdt zod.
ZSJL: despite Superman being dead, he inspired hope enough in Batman to create the Justice League, to make up for almost killing him.
In the follow up film, the Man of Tomorrow film, which did not come out, Superman was supposed to become the big blue boyscout we all know and love.
The entire point of the snyderverse is for Superman to "get there", as in, the comic book counterpart, using the Injustice comics as a backdrop to highlight the fact that snyder Superman will not be choosing that route. Mixed with a little shonen main protagonist trope, and you have a Superman that is supposed to be relatable to the people.
Unfortunately, snyder loves acrion and cool scenes too much that there is too much emphasis on "injustice" as oppoosed to "shonen", if you know what I mean.
snyder is mochael bay, if michael bay tried to care for the story and tried to be deep and nuanced. good attempt, but not that successful, unfortunately.
I'm so down for this. Also, the whole non-billionaire Bruce thing was an idea that Frank Miller and Darren Aronofsky were exploring with their script for Batman: Year One that was never made. It's available to read online.
I've also loved Batman as more of a heavier brawler type character. I can believe that this take on Batman would grow old to be Frank Millers Dark Knight Returns Batman.

What I like about Absolute is unlike Earth-1 or All-Star, which were “DC but modern!”, these characters feel more than incrementally different. There’s a freshness to it and a bit unpredictable.
So, basically “what if Jack Reacher was the Batman”

I love this. I always thought it made more sense for batman to be visibly bigger than Superman considering how much harder he'd have to push his body to keep up physically. Everything about this series looks super compelling to me so far.
But batman is also extremely agile and stealthy. Can you imagine this guy jumping from rooftop to rooftop and easily sneaking up on enemies. The ground shakes with his every step.

To be frank, he's not _that_ much bigger than in the Arkham games series. The real problem is that his life seems so completely different. A civil engineer does make a very decent living, but not enough to build a super secret underground base and so forth. Plus, having that job would likely be a 50+ hour per week obligation, leaving little time for crime fighting. One of the main benefits of his billionaire playboy facade is that it gives him time for being Batman.
I feel this will give room for a very dope pitch... Let's give this a chance.. I'M EXCITED THOUGH

I think Alfred is gonna be his Robin with him being more firt and physical than usual.
I have a feeling Robin might be more of a solo hero (or heroine), so we have these possibilities.
1. Absolute Robin might be a street gang of homeless kids that protect their neighbourhood from criminals, and are inspired by Batman to do that.
2.There isn't a Robin and we have Dick go straight into Nightwing.
3.We have a Robin that is basically a costumed boy detective solving crimes. (both this and no.2 take place in Bludhaven)
4. Robin is in Absolute Teen Titans, and they are a sort of 'corporate sponsored superhero team' and 'Reality TV stars' in that universe. (this one being inspired by Wizard magazine's hypothetical pitch for an 'Ultimate DC')
Well, Tim Drake was Robin while still living with his real family, and I think Carrie Kelly was the same way, so it could work.

As someone who dislikes the "family" aspect of so many DC heroes (Superman Family, Bat Family, Flash Family, Shazamily, Green Arrow family etc...) I'm looking forward to the heroes being more solo in nature again. So yeah, I'm looking forward to Absolute DC.

If you look far enough you'll find a guy who looks just like him
Sounds like an Elseworlds variant, change a few details and see what happens. Sometimes you have to play around with the core concepts without consequences to the rest of the continuity. This sort of play gave us Damian Wayne, the Bat Tank from Miller’s Dark Knight (which pretty much gave us much of the DC movie plots), Kingdom Come, Huntress (so many things started as a Dream issue that then became Earth 2 that then bled over into main continuity after a Crisis), and so on. One off appearances in Animal Man gave us President Superman, who later comes back big in another Crisis (hello Grant Morrison! Plus all the Morrison taking silver age silliness like the league of Batmen and making it into a core plot point).

I like the city engineer angle, it's been an age old discussion point that rich boy Bruce has been disconnected from the common people, Batman literally sits above the city. Now this Bruce literally has been building and working on Gotham, he's a part of it in an all new way. It's a good approach to that discussion.

I’m stoked for ALL the Absolutes!
To me this initiative combines 3 concept that have been done in the past:
1) Complete reimaginings of existing characters ("Earth One" series of graphic novels)
2) A fresh new interconnected universe where the characters start their careers again, from scratch, with minor modern twists around their stories (like Marvel's "Ultimate" imprint)
3) A soft reboot of the main continuity with smaller changes to the timeline, character history and in-universe "mechanics" (how do paralel earths work, what are the limits of time travel, what gods and omnipresent beings exist now).
They merge it all together to create 2 new "main" continuities:
~First: The original, long established one (wich is "high in Superman energy")
~Second: Absolute Universe, which functions kind of like a mirror world to the first one, or like the Yin to it's Yang (because it has lots of "Darkside energy" so everyone is sad and emo).
Superman and Batman didn't grabed me, but I am really curious about this Wonder Woman
