Everyone talks about Joe Kucan as Kane and he is amazing, but still gotta give credit to Eric Martin's performance as an exhausted but determined Sheppard during that final briefing, especially considering that as far as I'm aware, he isn't an actor.
When me and my mates go out for a few drinks, this OST always pops up in our pre-drinking session before we head out. Also if we play a board game like Risk or Axis & Allies this is a goto for background, killing music.
FYI - If you destroy the Temple of Nod with the Ion Cannon (killing blow), you will get a special cutscene that is different from the one shown here - instead of Kane suffering from a cave in... you see him embrace the beam of the Ion Cannon as it obliterates the Temple.
@@CrabHead501 if you're playing nod and you capture the gdi construction yard and build a helipad you get the attack helicopter that chainguns enimies down
14:14 "The world believes what the media tell them to believe, and I tell the media what to believe." Kind of horrific in it's prophetic statement from more than 20 years ago, and from a game no less.
Also, Tiberian comes from the The Tigris river in Italy. Italy right now has the worst case of coronavirus outbreak. If you go 21:55 into the video it break down what it does to humans in livestock.
What exactly is ironic about Kane's temple being in Sarajevo? That Gavrilo Princip assassinated Franz Ferdinand D'Este was a CASUS BELLI, not the REASON for outbreak of WW1, this should not be confused. WW1 was caused by expansionist ambitions of the central powers, growing imperialism and nationalism and diplomatic clashes between all great powers of the era. In essence, the WW1 was in making all the way back from the results of Napoleonic wars at Vienna Congress 100 years earlier. In 1910's the Balkan area (and IMHO the rest of Europe too for that matter) was said to be a keg of gunpowder just waiting for a spark to ignite it. The assassination provided that spark, but it did not plant the gunpowder. Otherwise thanks for this video, I have the First Decade, but not the time to play it anymore and when I had it, I played other C&C games from it.
I wonder how many people tried to emulate the final video after the last mission. 1 Orca to attack the NOD Temple followed by the Ion Cannon to finish it off...
A combination of reasons. 1. I didnt realise it was picking up my breathing, because these cut scenes were taken from the end of the Let's Pwn video series.. 2. When I found out, I couldn't be bothered re-recording it :) I had a crappy mic and had no easy way of turning it off, and if i took the mic off and threw it away, that would have made a sound too.
My first time playing C&C was on the Sega Saturn. And boy was I addicted to the game. Soundtrack was epic. I then got it on the PlayStation, along with the Red Alert series.
Wait, I think I just got something. Nod is a brotherhood, aka a fraternity. GDI also means God Damned Independent, or someone in college not in a fraternity. So its frat guys versus gdi's lol
I remember so clearly a scene that I am unable to find in any cutscene video. its the one where after (losing?) a match as nod, you see a scorpion walking on a road and then a gdi tank comes and rolls over it. (I am not thinking of the one where the eagle grabs the scorpion)
If you look at the general design it's a little more "Cold War" than the current design. At that point in time it was YF-22 Rapier - That program beat the YF-22 Black Widow II, and eventually incorporated some of its design elements to become the modern F-22 Raptor. Was all public knowledge though :)
+1 to that, one of the few games I've played in my life where the music gets left on. Played this religiously when I was younger so the soundtrack and voices are deeply embedded in my head. Have you ever noticed how many films have used the same death sounds as C&C? I've felt my ears prick up quite a few times when I've noticed audio from this game being recycled in other media. Good sample usage, although not as widely stolen as Doom's door sounds :p
So interesting things about tiberium, it was first found in Italy, is spreading across the globe and in one cinematic it mentions that exposure causes respitory problems...
Did you ever upload the GDI scene when losing a match? I remember so clearly a scene that I am unable to find in any cutscene video. its the one where after (losing?) a match as nod, you see a scorpion walking on a road and then a gdi tank comes and rolls over it. (I am not thinking of the one where the eagle grabs the scorpion)
14:25 Kane threatening to kill the GDI commander? Too bad Kane didn't know he knew the force choke, those Black Hand kill squads were easy pickings. Also the cut scene at 20:20 reminds me of my fave mission in Air combat 1, always ended up using the A-10 when I got it unlocked, good times.
This appears to be missing the cutscene of the NOD headquarters being blasted by the ION cannon. If you destroyed the NOD HQ with your ground/air units, you got the cutscene where a bunch of rubble falls on Kane. But if you strike the final blow with your ion cannon, then you get a cutscene of Kane being vapourized by the ion cannon.
Cool little detail bug at 17:00 which I didn't see before: The tactical screen is between the background and the soldier. So it is clear that the soldier is not there but in front of a green or blue screen. I am talking about in-universe here. ;) (It should be in front of soldier and the background). Then again the lighting is all wrong anyway, so... ;)
Eh, don't see any Nod symbols, so I guess I'll assume they're GDI. But anyway, cutscenes in this game show a whole bunch of vehicles that aren't in-game units (like the F/A-18, YF-22 and Mi-24)...so there's no reason why GDI can't have M2 Bradleys.
yea and I also grew up on C&C before games consoles came out and I prefer this sort of game makes u think of how to defeat ur enemy instead of it all done for u of the likes of call of duty nowadays
Wow a lot of the acting was really poor back then. Even by the time Red Alert came along it had improved, and it wasn't until Red Alert 2 that you had any memorable characters at all (with the sole exception of Kane).
its a dead series now, With Red Alert effectively ruined with RA3, The Tiberium universe essentially concluded, All thats left is Generals...And Generals never was a true C&C, it was a crappy RTS rushed together and had the Command and Conquer title slapped on it.

Interesting. Yes, I heard it was just “Westwood Staff” who had these roles
Sadly he passed away
This game was so far ahead of its time its almost crazy.
The soundtrack is incredible to this day. Sometimes i will put it on while gaming.
It's still my all time favourite game, with the best soundtrack of any game.

Before fake news was a thing, Kane already practiced it! :D
So did any state.

I believe that's the canonical ending, too.
Wow this is an old comment. Still true at least!
Yes, it wasn't until about my 3rd playthrough that I realised you get another cut scene.
destroying temple with ion cannon is the canoncical one

It's not a huge revelation. Propaganda was a thig at the very least since the 1st world war, and you can probably find some dating back to antiquity

Heavy breathing intensifies
Because of her cleevage 28:20
This game was amazing. After Red Alert two the entire franchise jumped the shark.
Bestoftherest222 Because of EA buying out Westwood and firing all the staff.

I think you missed the one where Kane dies differently when you use the ion cannon to destroy the temple.
