Watching on side of the road in middle of night with that fitting on hose assembly leaking- it is cracked. Thank God towing is $450 bucks back home and God gave me mind to look stuff up on RUclips Thank you!
Thanks for your video, was the best I found to follow on my 2005 Tahoe. Took me a little over an hour to complete. Looking at your video again, I see that the hose to my fluid tank is not pushed on as far as yours, so I better redo that part (it's really hard to push that one on for some reason). Everything else went smooth, and my truck is no longer leaking fluid.
Awesome video, the Y piece just failed on my 2005 silverado 10 minutes ago, this video will help me to put it back to work quick. Keep up the good work
@@crazymath9134 i don’t think the y piece is sold separately , I bought the complete assembly, dorman 626-538 (the one I bought) please check if this works for your car. I search it as hose heater assembly
u really helping us !!!!! i have a similiar vehicle and did exactly what u did and with this video my job was very easy to do. thanks alot ! god bless u 🙏🏼
Just did this on cammed 5.3 Silverado thanks for help man at first I bought the wrong part went back to the auto shop picked up a new hose my shit was leaking bad. Just a heads up DRAIN YOUR RADIATOR BEFORE OUR IT WILL EXPLODE OUT AND BIG MESS
FYI, There's a really cool tool to remove those particular clamps. Don't ask me the name bc I can't remember. The hobby shop on base had them. I used them and afterwards I went to Sears and bought it. It really helps to clamp down and it locks in place.
I bought the 60 dollar option from O'Reilly's and it allows for a easy splice into the old QC on my '05 silverrobbo , those older version Quick Connect aren't the easy quick disconnect like in this video, they were a time saver on the GM assembly line, but to remove them is another story, the passenger side one can be hell to remove since there's barely enough room to get the removal tool in place and then getting my fingers to do what is supposed to be done is damn near impossible, the updated QC's are better for removal.
question...on the new hose it has 3 clamps on the connector piece to all 3 hoses...thats the piece that broke on my truck, can i just replace that connector piece instead of replacing the entire unit? Thats how my truck is set up...i have 3 clamps there whereas on your original piece there are no clamps
Thanks soooo much! This is the only video that shows the “Y” instead of the connecter to the firewall. I’m gonna be doing this myself, do you recommend taking off any parts to make it easy to get to?
Hello. Not sure what happened to my reply. I am pretty sure it will fit, you can verify here on Dormans website, scroll down and click on page 2. You will see the Yukons there..... www.dormanproducts.com/p-91571-626-553.aspx?year=2008&make=GMC&origin=keyword It's a Prime item on Amazon, amzn.to/3S7vfcl, and half the cost of my local automotive store.... Hope this helps!
How do you figure out if the hose assembly is for auxiliary heat or without? Both assemblies look the same and really I just need the y fitting but can only find it in the assembly.
00:47- 00:55? I would replace it, if It were an option, if I couldn't I would rock with it, knowing it will eventually need to get replaced. Any damage to your hose?
Wondering… Why weren’t the clamps reused? Also Cap was replaced during warm up preventing air to escape…(?) I replaced the other hose , Month or so later replaced the water pump, & thermostat Now it’s 4am a few weeks later and now I have to replace this hose( leaking at the y) Knew I should’ve replaced at least both hoses at the same time New I should’ve replaced this hose when I replaced the water pump 2014 esv
Yes, ‘cause you would be losing coolant through the cracks. It’s mostly the y connector that’s the problem. It is made out of plastic, so it cracks really easily.
Thanks for checking out the video. No, the part , 626-553, will not fit your 2006. 626-538 may be the fit for your yukon. Here is a link for you to see if your vehicle is on the list of applicable vehicles. Let us know if it helps. www.dormanproducts.com/p-100842-626-538.aspx

mine has failed exactly at the Y fitting ( small pin hole leak - took me few months to find out as it only leaks at full pressure) , i couldn't find the Y or T connector and found through this video that it only come in one big assembly. the new part from Doorman has the Y piece made out of aluminum compare to OEM which was plastic.
Quick bit of info. Trany fluid is sweet and some cats will lick it up if they get the chance. Sadly fatal most of the time. I see this guys is being careful.

@@MaldonadosGarage just ordered it! I’m nervous about the top connection. 2 years ago I had the replace the top heater core connector that is the to the left. The part that said it fit didn’t include the right style connector to connect the hose. It did have a barb end so I wound up removing the inner hose piece to just slide onto the new barb and hose clamp it.

Thanks a lot man it was very helpful..
I never would of thought about putting cardboard down to absorb the coolant
Thank man my “Y” just started leaking and this video helped out a lot. Curious why you don’t use the original hose clamps?
Great to hear the video helped you. I may have had an issue with clearance for the clamp going to the reservoir, don't really recall....
The original clamps deform a little, and over time they loose tension.
Thank you. I needed this video You're awesome.

Do you have a video replacing the back low pressure heat and ac rubber line

Man thank you a lot!! Just did mine my only question is that how much coolant I should add after replacing the hoses??
Great news.. Happy it helped.. Your coolant resevoir has a fill line, mine says full cold. Check it out and share what you do.
@@MaldonadosGarage ok after I’ve filled it up and drove around I’ve noticed that my gage was going a little over 210 while driving.
And yes the coolant reservoir was low after shutting my suburban off.
I recommend filling to the full cold after letting the vehicle get cold.
