Sir I watched your video only yesterday. I followed your advice and wrote down the Dorman Y part number. I went by auto zone here in the Memphis area yesterday. Today is 9-23-23 and I did exactly what you said, got up 530 this morning, drank some coffee, and got to work. It took me couple of hours but it's all done and NO LEAKS! You saved me a bunch of money! BTW, my truck is a 2007 silverado classic crewcab, 4.8 but it looks exactly the same as your video so far as the set up is concerned. Thanks again 😎
That's great! I am glad my video helped you. Thank YOU so much for watching.
Many thank from this veteran I came across your video a few days ago after noticing a high temp reading, opened the hood and the saw the plastic connector leaking, followed your steps and my 04 Silverado is back in the saddle.
Thank you and thank you for your service to the country. I really appreciate you watching my content. I am happy to know my video helped you.
Thank you from Orlando! 2008 Silvy 4.8L 123k. I did it step by step with your vid and bought the dremel and used that for the first time as well. Worked like a charm and saved me a lot of money in labor.
That's awesome! I am glad my video helped you. Thank you for watching.
Great video. I haven't run into this problem before, this video is much better than the others, kudos! I gotta say, older vehicles just don't have these problems, all the fittings are metal and ring gear clamps won't break them. No ridiculous plastic clamps. I'm so glad Dorman makes this part in metal!
I totally agree with you. Thank you SO much for watching.
2005 Escalade ESV 6.0 AWD. 245k miles. Reviewed the video couple times. Easy to install. Thank you ‼️ I bought the fuel disconnect plastic tool set from Harbor but decided to just install the aluminum junction only as the hoses were still good condition surprisingly.
You're very welcome. Thank you for watching.
I have exactly the same problem in a 2007 tahoe. I was already scared, I thought that the antifreeze was getting into the combustion chamber or that the pump did not work but it is leaking from right there and thanks to your video I now know how to repair it 😃.
thank you very much man 👍
That's great Carlos! I am glad my video helped you. Thank you SO much for watching.
Dood... kick ASS video... you saved me a lot of time having the part number available.... i even bought a pair of those clamp pliers
SUBSCRIBED!
That's awesome! I am glad my video helped you. Thanks for placing a smile on my face and watching my content.
Thanks a lot 🙏 I found out thats where mine is leaking from and it took awhile to fine because the leak is so fine. But I noticed that area stayed wet. Your video really helped with the replacement. Thanks again.
You're very welcome. Thank you so much for watching.

@@TerenceDIYwhat size hose is that for the small hose piece to the water pump?
I believe it's a 3/4".
Terence you da man. Thanks for saving me time and money👍

نفس مشكلتي بالضبط. شكرا لك 🫡
That’s more difficult than replacing the the whole assembly using Dorman fix part 626-553.
No it's not. I have worked on MANY of these vehicles and removing those hoses can be very difficult.
@@TerenceDIY I just did it today, that’s why I was looking at videos. I used the Dorman OE fix, and it definitely took me less time than what was done in this video.
Good job.

Terence, i have the same problem but from the top end on a 2003 Tahoe.
Any chance you can send me a link to the hose size and connectors i should buy. And the tool to unplug the conectors. Whats it called?

Great video i have the same issue took a while to find the leaking part rather fix it with this pieces than a new plastic one and run in to the same issues. How has it hold up
Great. I have done this many times. This fix will out last the life of the truck. Thanks for watching.
@@TerenceDIY appreciate the response. I just ordered one and two of the dorman 800-409HP
Great! Good luck with your fix.
Does Anyone know the Correct Name for Those type of Hose clamps ??
Were you having any problems with overheating? I'm wondering if my thermostat isn't functioning properly
After a while it would definetly start to overheat due to lack of coolant. Once I fixed the leak, it was all good.
What size is the hose that it was actually leaking from I need that hose
You can buy some typical heater hose (5/8") / heater core hose by the foot from autozone.
If you do a coolant flush on your cooling system and then fill with 50/50 mix is that okay
Absolutely! It's actually better to use the 50/50 because it's a perfect mixture.
@@TerenceDIY thank you sir ppl are saying to use a straight coolant because the engine block still has water in it and the straight coolant will balance making it 50/50 but wanted your opinion on it since you have a similar vehicle as well
I watched the video and completed the job successfully. Only thing is now it running hot. What could cause this?
Oh, you gotta bleed the system. Remove the reservior cap and let the truck run. Watch the temperature hand closely. The hand will probably get close to running hot but it will eventually settle in the middle as the air escapes. Once it's running normal for 10 minutes or so, you can shut the vehicle down and then top the antifreeze off. You can also top it off as it is running during the bleeding process.
Do you have a video on heater core flush for this vehicle I was thinking of flushing through the hoses where the y connect is towards the water pump instead of unhooking hoses from the firewall since they are hard to get off. My heat is lukewarm but not hot I’m thinking it might just need flushing anyway input you have would be great happy holidays
I don't have a video, but have you checked your thermostat? If it's an original thermostat, years of coolant build up can cause it not to function properly. Although it's not running hot, it can result in the heat not getting hot. You can check by feeling the hoses going to the heater core to see if they are hot when the vehicle is up to temperature. Also, if that's not the case, I would flush the entire system by just disconneting the top radiator hose and run a garden hose there, remove the cap from the coolant reservior so the water can discharge from there and the radiator or vice versa. Then, fill it with concentrated coolant only adding 25 percent water to the mix.
@@TerenceDIY yes I replaced water pump and thermostat and radiator back in July and a couple of days ago I replaced the coolant temperature sensor because my temp gauge was fluctuating back and forth and then I noticed my heat is lukewarm not hot like it used to be this happened this past Friday
Interesting... Question(s); was it getting hot prior to you replacing those parts? Did the temperature senseor fix your guage issue (important)? I am asking because the light bulb went off in my head after you mentioned to key things (fluctuating gauge, lukewarm heat). I will await your answers.
@@TerenceDIY yes it was getting hot until I had issues with the coolant temperature sensor and everything is working as it should I just think I need to back flush the heating core but from a scale 1-10 the heat level is about 6 or 7
Okay. That should help. Keep me updated.
What's that sensor right under the junction hose you put, mine leaked onto that sensor but I can't find the name for it
Is there a time stamp where you can see the sensor? I'm not sure what sensor you are referring to.
@@TerenceDIYdo you have a Twitter or somewhere I can show you a picture, it's got a small green cable and it should be directly under the junction of the hose
You can send it to my gmail. wisenooty@gmail.com
What can cause your vehicle to slowly reach operating temperature I’ve changed all my hoses the water pump radiator the T connectors thermostat twice new expansion tank flushed the cooling system until water came out clear the only thing I haven’t replaced is my heater and it find I flushed it as well until water came out clear I basically re did the whole cooling system and there are no leaks as I can see and my Yukon is not overheating just slowly rising to operating temperature. What would be your take on this my vehicle is a 2011 Yukon Denali xl 6.2 engine. I also tested the thermostat dropping it in boiling water and it opened all the way once it got to the right temperature and also closed all the way . Thank you and have a blessed day
Two questions... How is your heat blowing? Secondly, have you replaced your coolant temperature sensor? I had a similar issue on an 08 express van and the temperature sensor was the culprit. Please let me know.
@@TerenceDIY yes sir I went to AutoZone and replaced it and the heat blows hot when temp gauge is at 210 once it drops just a little right behind the white line that’s right on 210 it blows warm is it possible that coolant temp sensor could be faulty
If you have a code scanner, even a cheap one, you could diagnose your temp sensor and or gauge pretty quickly. I would do that so you can find a definite answer. The code scanner will pull the accurate temperature from the ecu/ecm in real time. I'm curious to see would it match up with what the gauge is reading.
@@TerenceDIY thanks I will definitely try that
Let me know what you come up with.
Do they make that part in aluminum?
It is aluminum. It's not plastic.
How often do the T connectors at the firewall leak
They rarely leak. I only seen this once out of many trucks.
@@TerenceDIY seen coolant under my Yukon and did an inspection and I got a leak at the white T connector I’m going to replace them but not with the quick connect but with the hose straight on the T connectors with a clamp the hose will be stretched just a little bit is that okay or should I just cut a heater host to correct size so it will a lil slack in it
If the hose is stretched a little, it will not hurt anything. I've done this many times. Let me know how things turn out when you fix it.
@@TerenceDIY well do and thanks
My coolant keeps leaking. Where are you located?
Chicago, Illinois.
No Dex-cool?
Nope. I used Peak in which is compatible with any fluid or is GREAT by itself. Here is a link to it (below). Look at the reviews anywhere on it. Thanks for watching.
