    Most professional look I’ve seen shot with an iphone. Very nice!
    The file size shooting with Prores is massive, do you think it’s possible to achieve a similar look just shooting 10bit logv3? I think the file size is a lot smaller but still yields good quality. Is the quality between prores and 10bit logv3 that noticeable?

    • @iphoneographers
      @iphoneographers  Год назад

      The quality is noticeable in a few ways … If you’re doing heavy color grading, visual effects, or shooting in higher contrast, or lower light. Then I’d shoot ProRes. However, you can get great results shooting in 10 bit HEVC for sure. Thanks for watching!

    Just a question, I have filmic pro and an iPhone 13 pro max.
    Is it possible to lock both the ISO and the shutter speed ?

    • @iphoneographers
      @iphoneographers  2 года назад +1

      Yes, whenever you lock the exposure you’re actually locking both. You can go into manual mode and set and lock each, too. However, you still have to adjust them to get the proper exposure since the aperture is fixed. So you can set & lock the shutter to 1/48, but then you use ISO to get correct exposure, then lock it. A best practice is to keep the ISO low - under 100 if at all possible.

    Why you didn’t use the beast grip tele instead of the moment? 🤔
    I’m about to buy lenses por my iPhone 13 pro what brand do you recommend?

    • @iphoneographers

      Unfortunately their V2 telly doesn’t work properly with the 13 pro max. I believe they’re working on a V3 though. That lens is great otherwise for all previous phones. Overall I’ve been happy with Moment mainly because of their ease-of-use and they all seem to work pretty well with a variety of phones. But I do really like Beastgrip as well, but right now mainly the anamorphic V2 with the 13 PM. Thanks for watching!

    So the Moment lenses don’t attach to the Smallrig cage? Just getting into iPhone filming with me 13 pro max with that Smallrig cage and want to get a 58mm lens

      Yes, they do attach directly to it. The Beastgrip lenses do not however.

    I have Beastgrip anamorphic 1.55 and the Kenko lens. I’m so confused which one to get for vlogging using an iPhone. Any thoughts?

    • @iphoneographers
      @iphoneographers  2 года назад

      I personally would use just the standard wide angle not the anamorphic for vlogging. That 1.55x anamorphic gives you a super wide screen look and on RUclips the standard screen is actually 16 x 9.

    What did you do for sound? I’m trying to start my first short and I wanna shoot it all on iPhone - but I’m having trouble with the sound part as far using an attached shotgun mic and/or using a boom mic. And how to get the sound to register into the iPhone

    • @iphoneographers
      @iphoneographers  Год назад

      I did double system, so I recorded into a Zoom recorder and then just with the iPhone mic as reference and synced in post. But you can definitely record directly into your phone too if you want - but don’t use a shotgun on camera as it’ll be too far away. I actually have an entire course about this topic if you’re interested…. academy.iphoneographers.tv/p/the-complete-guide-to-smartphone-audio-recording

    I want to send you a ton of respect! The content is really good and it's helping me make decisions and questions things in my own work. I really want to ask you -- I see a lot of videos that an iPhone can shoot like a mirrorless or dslr camera or some semi-pro/pro camera... what I am interested in is the "why?". I am super curious from your experienced iPhone use, etc (and this channel) -- in your opinion, what's the why? I mean I see the benefit of being lighter, being able to put a phone somewhere a full rig can't go, or doing something as a livestream/social media in the moment. Just trying to understand how someone on your level would offer this on a professional/charge-people-for-money basis? I would love to understand better. Looking forward to your reply.

    • @iphoneographers

      On professional client work I primarily use phones as a crash cam or a B camera, not the main camera. I like doing gimbal shots on phones because they’re much easier to handle. But for my own professional projects including RUclips I incorporate phones as the A camera routinely. It really just depends on what I’m doing. Lots of news organizations use phones for broadcast TV, especially in Europe and Australia. So they are ready for prime time in many cases. So for me it’s not an either or situation, it depends on what I’m doing. But today you can get really good results with the latest greatest generation of phones. Hope that makes sense. Thanks for watching!

      Did not need one on this particular day. it was overcast and what I typically do is crank up the brightness on the screen too. But I do use them in the one I typically recommend is for a Moondog labs… ruclips.net/video/UX8t-XXAjvQ/видео.html. Or you can create your own with gaff tape and black foil.

    what’s that mic setup you have? how does that work when connecting it to your iphone while also being able to use headphones

    • @iphoneographers
      @iphoneographers  4 месяца назад

      Here just using the phone mic as reference sound, so the actual audio was recorded double system, meaning externally to a Zoom field recorder and then synced in post.

      @@iphoneographers sorry i meant like with the boom mic and stuff you have connected through the adaptor? i’ve been trying to find that sort of equipment for my iphone but i cant seem to find what works and im not sure what i need to get that kind of setup

    • @iphoneographers
      @iphoneographers  4 месяца назад

      @CrispDURAC3LL Oh ok. No audio gear was actually connected to the phone, just to be clear. It was all recorded externally. I just used the built-in mic as reference to then sync it in post production with the external sound. But there we use a Zoom H6 recorder and a Rode NTG4+ shotgun mic… amzn.to/48D8nYM
      Hope that answers your question.
