  • Wow! Whoever uploaded all those Husker Du Live in London vids ages ago forgot about this one - the last 4 songs before the encore. Features 'Every Everything', 'Makes No Sense At All', an INCENDIARY 'Pink Turns To Blue' (blows away the Zen Arcade version IMO), and a nice little cover of 'Ticket to Ride'. AWESOME stuff. May 14, 1985, Camden Palace - London.
    If I ever stop loving Husker Du I wanna be shot!!

    Grant's big sigh before immediately counting off into "Makes No Sense At All" = so rad. Greatest fucking band ever.

    This is awesome, f**king brilliant. Never got to see Husker Du but managed to see Sugar who performed a couple of Husker Du songs, only 400 at the gig, Wolverhampton 1997. Brilliant!!

    As SMOKING hot as this gig is, Bob regarded it as maybe the worst gig they ever played. He HATES that this video exists. They'd played Washington, DC two days prior, were on no sleep for over 24 hours, and none of the gear they played on or through was theirs. THEN they played THE FOLLOWING NIGHT in Cleveland, OH, USA!
    This is the Huskers, falling-down exhausted and playing rented gear!

    • @ohpopshop
      @ohpopshop 9 лет назад +5

      +B_inShortsville I saw them in Cleveland that following night! I didn't notice them being especially exhausted, but I mainly remember the gig now because (1) I lost my glasses at one point and everyone around me was extremely cool about opening up a space in the pit and helping me find them, (2) Bob did quick promo for our college radio station after the show (WOBC), and (3) I think I have Greg's copy of the setlist somewhere in my stuff. :-)

      I saw them 3 nights after this show in Newport, KY. They played shows EVERY day in between. Washington DC, London, Cleveland, Columbus (2 shows that night), Newport, KY, Detroit... That is just brutal and yet when I saw them they were incredible with tons of fire, energy, and intensity. That show was still one of the best three shows of my life

    Awesome performance - i don't care if they're gay, or even if they're from Mars. I love the way Bob maintains that edgy, yet melodic wall of sound, whilst wearing a look of complete disinterest on his face. Some people are so talented it makes you sick !

    Amazing stuff. Been a long time since I heard their great version of "Ticket to Ride" - the NME issued it as part of a free single back in the day and I used to listen to it obsessively. Wasn't this particular rendition, but still great to see this stunning band. I never liked Nirvana - never had much against them, just didn't like them. I tried to like the Pixies and failed. The Huskers were far better than either.

    Greg, you mean. Last I saw Grant, he was poured into a rickshaw, being wheeled down the street at the closing of Foxfire Coffee. Sad. The other guys seem to be doing pretty good. This version of Ticket shreds.

    They got signed by a major label, but they were never huge, alas. Husker Du was way ahead of their time - perhaps they WOULD have been huge if they had arrived around the time of Nirvana/Alt Rock/etc.
