Never would have thought contrast paints could make something that looks that good. And then there’s the signature sorastro OSL.
Thank you my friend! 😊
Just received my expansion set a couple days ago. Can’t wait to get to work with these great ideas and techniques. Thank you!
Ah great! Thanks Jeff 😀
Your videos always inspire me to grab my brush and paint again and as always I´m stunned by your skill
Like a Bob Ross for Miniatures painting. Thank you for your inspiration!
That's awesome to hear - thank you so much 😊
Cool! Finally a new addition😍😍😍 I'm looking forward to new episodes😉
Aww thank you! :)
Once again brilliant. Your list of paint at the end is SO SHORT yet the minis are so dynamic. Thank you for continuing to put these speed paint videos out!!
Thanks so much David! 😀
Just wanted to leave a big thank you for your lord of the rings Videos. I'm completely new at miniature painting so I learn a lot from you and see details I otherwise would have missed. Thanks to you most of my miniatures look at least a bit cool! Can't wait for this series to continue. Thanks for your time and effort, I appreciate it a lot.
Thank you so much for the kind comment! I'm glad you're enjoying the series 😀
Good to see you back, and fantastic work as always. I especially think the colors you chose for the bodies of the beasts was inspired, and the greens and blues really blended with them to create a remarkably real-looking and believable representation. /tips hat
Thanks so much! I'm really glad you enjoyed the colour choices 😀
I just got my box and I will start painting with your tutorial :)
Over 90% of my miniatures from previous boxes are painted from your tutorials so... :D You are my master :D
Regards from Poland
Thanks so much! I really appreciate that 😊
Thank you Sorastro, Love how they look. Also glad to see you use the contrast range. So much grey to slay and speeding it up just a little isnt a bad thing. the way you use them next to non contrast paints speaks to me, shows there potential in a really good way.
Thanks so much for the kind feedback Tim! Also.. "Grey Slayer" - what a title! 😁
Yay! More sorastro!!!!
Ha ha - thanks dude :D
Great work! I like the underground and the wings. Really cool
Hope there comes more? ^^
Thank you very much! Yes, I'll be producing more LOTR JIME videos (and PDF guides) soon.. 😀
Your content is very high quality. Awesome stuff 😊👍🏽
That's very kind - thank you! 😊
Hey ! Ive just stumbled on your videos, having recieved the game as a gift. I love how you explain and show your process so thoroughly. Ive never painted figurines before, but I'll definitely give it a go ! Thank you. Can't wait to see what the other figurines are gonna look like.
Thanks a lot! I hope you enjoy the process 😀
Welcome back, and it was worth the wait as always, sir! I get ample ideas for mixing tones and shading and highlighting from your videos consistently, and this was no exception. Though I'm still reluctant to jump onto the contrast paint bandwagon, if I'm honest (they cost a LOT of money on average because Citadel is Citadel). A "monochromatic" scheme is never truly so and you proved that in this video as only you can. Thank you!
Thanks a lot mate! I've heard good things about the Army Painter speed paints - and they're a lot cheaper - so might be worth a look..? 😀
Woooooooot! Already up!. You the man!
this is VERY pog. was hoping so much you would paint this expansion and add it to the play list :D so thank you master wizard of miniature bring-to-life-ification!
Ha ha, thanks a lot 😁
I love the paint job! For such a quick detail, the veins add so much life to the models!
With all that said, all my brain sees is a naked guy in a kaiju suit with a missing torso, haha.
Ha ha, thanks buddy 😁
I hope more LOTR guides will follow. You are amazing! ❤️
Thank you very much! Please be aware that I'm covering some of the miniatures with PDF guides too, like Beorn and the Great Bear: sorastro.com/2022/03/12/beorn-and-the-great-bear-pdf-painting-guides/ 🙂
Great!
Thank you friend! :)
Nice result as per usual sir. Always love the LOTR series mini paint videos.
Thanks so much! 😀
Will we be getting videos on painting the rest of this expansion set?
Hi! Just as with all the earlier expansions I'll be covering everything in the box, with a combination of videos and PDF guides 😀
@@Sorastro Excellent stuff, I look forward to following them.
Awesome video! Wouldn’t call it a traditional speed paint, but definitely a nice balance between time saved and still creating a beautiful finished product.
I think you’ve nailed the 80/20 rule for mini painting with these 👏👏👏
Thanks a lot Logan! 😁
The hero's come back! Nice to see your videos, i really improve my proficiency!
Aw thanks so much! I'm happy to hear that 😀
As usual, precize, efficient, amazing final results, the best ! Thx;)
Thanks so much Marc! I'm glad you enjoyed it 😀
Excellent work as always!! I really liked the contrast between the warmer-earthier tones on the torso and the OSL blues on the wings and scales
I am a bit on the fence on buying Citadel Contrast Paints as i already have an extensive collection of both GW and Vallejo Paints and i am not sure if their usage can justify their significant cost
Also really interested on hearing your thoughts about Army Painter's Speed Painting Sets (Basic and Mega) coming out in a few months and already getting some more favorable reviews from other creators particularly over GW Contrasts in terms of consistency and cost.
Keep up the good work!!
Thank you my friend! I've also heard good things about the Army Painter speed paints. I still have plenty left in my Contrast Colours however, so I'm in no particular rush to buy them, but will do eventually I'm sure.. 😁
Mould lines get me every time.... but I cant be arsed... they add character to the model ;)
I hoped for flying fell beast, on transparent sticks. But these are nice too. Got my copy this week😊
Awesome! :)
Once again beautifull painting, with just enough contrast to be beautifull on a table, but not to much to keep the spirit of the mini.
So once again... Good job maestro!
Thank you kindly! I'm glad you like what I did with them 😀
I don't know how you can tell what color you're putting in that little paint strip :D here I am cleaning mine out each night
Ha ha - mine gets cleaned like once a year if it's lucky..! :)
Wow! They look so great!! Thanks a lot Mark
Thank you Christian! I really wanted something fast and fun for this video, and these minis hit the spot! :)
Wonderfull, thank you :)
Thank you kindly! :)
Great Job!
Thank you very much! 😀
Love your series! Does your patreon have PDFs of the rest of the figures that aren’t in the videos, such as the siege machines, war elephant? Would be cool to see the witch king too!
Thanks a lot Zachary! I did paint the oliphaunt a while back, and will paint the siege machines soon. I end up releasing all my PDFs for free on my website actually, but they do sometimes sit for a while on Patreon in “early access” until I find the time to get them on the website. I’ll certainly be painting the Witch King too eventually, but not until I’ve finished the Spreading War expansion. 😀
@@Sorastro Ok awesome! Watching your videos got me to want to paint my figures, currently waiting on the paint to come in, pretty excited to get started and level up my gameplay!
Hey mate - with your airbrushed priming - do you thin Vallejo primers down, or use them straight?
Sorry, no doubt you've answered this but couldn't find it!
Love the channel, fantastic work!
Hi there! I actually use the Badger primers these days, and yes I do like to add a little thinner to help prevent clogging issues 😀
Greetings! Would love to have an easy complete paint list. I am trying to purchase everything necessary and I’m having a bit of a hard time going through each video.
Thanks!
Hi Michael! I've included a paint list at the end of each video, and also in the video description. I don't have a complete list for the entire series however (partly because it's not yet finished!) 😁
Fantastic. The way you handle this paint is magical. Anytime I try to do contrast paint on large flat (like the wings here), I get brush strokes. Any tips?
Not a pro but... I like a larger brush for larger surfaces and try mixing a ratio of medium and water 💧 to enhance the contrast's flow. Then go over after with a brush and soak up and excess areas...
Thank you sir! I think I'd agree with Brendan and suggest trying to thin the paint down a little, either with the Contrast Medium or a thinner colour (like the Gryph-Charger Grey) 🙂
Thank you both!
Hi Sorastro, thanks to your tutorials, I started painting my miniatures for the board game. I was wondering though, will you upload more video or PDF tutorials for the other miniatures of the Spreading War expansion?
Hi! Yes, I'm slowly working through the rest of the Spreading War expansion 😀
@@Sorastro Alright! Thanks for your response! Looking forward to your upcoming tutorials!
Thanks a lot! 😀
No one:
Sorastro: 💂✨whilst✨🇬🇧
Ha ha thanks man 😁
Love the game
What are the odds that we'll be getting some amazing videos for the Spreading War expansion!?
Hi Randy! I'll be producing the next video for Spreading War very soon 😀 (Also, please note that I've also been covering some of the minis as PDF guides: sorastro.com/2023/01/26/siege-towers-pdf-painting-guide/)
@@Sorastro Amazing! I'll will check those out for sure! Thanks for the reply.
No problem! 😀
Hey, just a note on something I just now noticed: the series 8 sable brushes are now banned in the USA. What would you recommend as a good alternative?
I agree. Don't know what a good brush is either to go out and buy
Hi! You might like the Raphael kolinsky 8404 brush, or perhaps the Windsor & Newton Series 7.. 🙂
I hear a lot of good things about liquitex inks. But not much about their "standard" acrylics do you think they work well when painting small scale models?
Hi Ian! Yes, you can totally use the Liquitex acrylic paints on minis 😀
@@Sorastro oh wow..thank you so much!!
Would you please paint some miniature of Dark Souls or Bloodborne boardgame?
Hi! I'm afraid my schedule is just too full for me to take anything new on for the foreseeable.. sorry! 🙂
Hi, Sorastro! you didn't paint belts which hold the armour. Also two lether strings on the right of the neck. Cheers!
Hi! I think I just hit those areas with the same colours I used for the skin (this being a speed paint and all..) 😁
You paimted miniatures Spring of war..completed
Hi Miguel! No, I've not finished the latest expansion yet, but will be filming the next episode soon.. 😀
