Please show us how you would approach building, assembling, and painting a Gundam from Bandai. If you need recommendations on which one to try I have several which fulfill different criteria from beginner friendly to more complicated, from 1/144th to 1/100 to 1/60th scale.
Really happy to see you promoting your own paints, I got mine a couple of weks ago and have been loving them, also thank you for detailing the size of the brush as well! Very helpful!
@@DuncanRhodesDRPA I've been holding onto the Heroquest re-print, just waiting for the paints to start painting them and I have to admit, they are the best of all the brands I've tried! (also, would love to see you paint the Hero's from Heroquest, The barbarian would be great for muscle definition techniques!)
Sweet! Very nicely done! Received the Elrond set earlier this week. Like the Witch King figures, the models went together really well. I like the way these minis have been designed, so that the joins are hidden within the model. The fit has been so good that filler and sanding has been unnecessary. Just have the underside of Elrond's mount to fill. If I was using the mini for the gaming table I possibly wouldn't bother.
i just wondered how i painted frodo clean from the battle games magazines! ive just got the Arkenstone boardgame with Thorin's company and cant believe how small they are XD
Always good to see Elrond, and always good to see you Duncan. Thank you again for another stellar tutorial. Somewhat related, would you consider making a tutorial for battle-ready Imperial Knights?
As I'm colourblind I always wondered about the Elven armour colour. So it turns out that green gold is what I was actually seeing after all. I always assumed I was mistaken. On a secondary note, I have never made a miniature in my life. I've been tempted for a while but as I don't own an airbrush I didn't think it was feasible. Having watched this video I might take the plunge into Middle Earth. Thank you.
Hi Mark. Thanks for watching. Truth is, you don't need an airbrush at all. All the miniatures painted here, on our website, and through my time at GW as well as my own collection, were done with brushes. The airbrush is just another tool in a painter arsenal but it is definitely not a necessity when you are just starting out ☺
Last week I was trying to paint the new Glorfindel and it was almost dis-couraged. Glorfindel and Elrond are very similar and I will be able to apply lots of tips and techniques. Now I have to look for some help on painting the horse. Thanks for this amazing help!
Hi Duncan. Thank you for an excellent tutorial. Very useful information as always. Which wet palette do you use!??? I have a Redgrass Games one, but I am slightly worried about using it for the first time. Any hints or tips on this would be appreciated. Thank you, kind regards Ian
We use a Red Grass one too. Just add water to the sponge and pour the remaining into the sink. The sponge will be wet, then add your paper on top and smooth it out, maybe add a little water on top the pour the excess of, use some kitchen towel to gently dry the paper on top and the water will soak into it. Then use as you will. 😊
@@DuncanRhodesDRPA Thank you for the reply and advice, I will give it a go and let you know how it goes. Really appreciate your time. Have a great weekend and keep the great work coming. Kindest regards Ian
Wonderful video and a perfect paintjob! Please can you paint one of the good old metal galadhrim??? Please!!! I have no idea how toget the golds right...
would there be any tutorial for ruins of middle earth terrain set? or any similar style like terrains in upcoming osgiliath starter set? Looking forward to Duncan version of them!
A huge issue I face with any fine detail brush is that the paint almost instantly dries (even when I water it down) so it makes picking out small details a very frustrating process.
Great video! Always love watching you paint! At the end, when you were painting in his eyes, why is it better to paint first in black and then paint two white dots? Why not paint all white and then a single black dot? I know absolutely nothing about mini painting lol, just want to know what the trick is there.
We did, but Doom Death Black was a castle in a campaign we played with some friends and one of them named his castle 'Castle Doom Death' and we thought that that name was awesome so we just had to use it.
So traditionally, pure white isn't used for eyes because it looks unreal. Is this a new direction in terms of using the pure white or is it even pure white isn't really white?
I'm sorry, but the green "rust" on gold is rare when it contains copper impurities. wouldn't it be better in this case to apply Balthasar Gold paint or something similar?

I can only hope over time I can paint a tenth of how well you do. Appreciate you giving MESBG some love!
You can do it! Just practice, practice, practice :-)
Great video as always, Duncan. Hope to see even more MESBG on the channel!
Excellent tutorial! It's really awesome to see you giving MESBG some attention. Would love to see how you would paint the Witch-king of Angmar!
Great suggestion!
I don't ever expect to play the LOTR mini game, but I had to watch simply for the joy of watching you work. Incredible!
Awesome, thanks 😊
That green and blue cloak explanation is just what I’m looking for!
Very nice Duncan. Long have I sought a good painting guide for Second Age elven plate.
Glad it was helpful!
The attention to detail you give us in this is just phenomenal. Really great vídeo
Love this paintjob, very nice
Thank you so much 😀It was a fun miniature to paint
Green tint to gold, of course! Fantastic work as always.
Thank you! Cheers!

That glistening gold looks a beautiful consistency. May pick that up!
Wow. That is all I can say. Wow.

Great job as usual. I am in love with that Glistening Gold! It went on so smooth. That will be the first color I try.
Well done!! Hope we see more from Middle Earth SBG in the future
Thanks Duncan for the tip in the sword. I’ll keep it in mind when assembling. Superb painting tutorial!!
Thanks John, glad you liked it
Beautiful model wonderfully painted.
That face especially is just beautiful.
Thank you so much 😀

Loving your simple and effective approach to wet blending on the blue cloak. Looks too easy not to try!
Wet blending is easy, there is no dark art. Just go for it and have fun 😀
Outstanding as usual! I learn so much while watching your videos.
Awesome, thank you! And most of all, we're glad that you can learn something from watching 😊
hi wonderful job ( waiting for two thin coatspaints...) The face is great Bravo !!
Duncan, mate. This looks fuckfuck great! The robes and cloak are so smooth 😍
Love it! It really brings out the best of the model.
Great video as always what colour wash would you use if doing 3rd age elves? Thanks

Very inspiring for when I get mine.
Nice model and great painting :)
Thank you so much 😀
Dude so awesome
Wonderful video and a perfect paintjob! Please can you paint one of the good old metal galadhrim??? Please!!! I have no idea how toget the golds right...
Looks just like Hugo Weaving
Lovely job!
Do we have a rough time line for the release of these paints Duncan?
Absolute legend

Mmmm...not a bad idea.
Cracking video! Any tips for doing Sauron?
Great video
Would you ever do other ranges like decent or rising sun and mythic battle? Love your work BTW.
not into LotR but I'm watching anyways to listen to this mans relaxing voice.
Glad you enjoy it!
Faces look best with a tint of red, use very very dilute red paint as the wash, repeating it if necessary
Thank you , DRPA .

Our pleasure! 🐺
A huge issue I face with any fine detail brush is that the paint almost instantly dries (even when I water it down) so it makes picking out small details a very frustrating process.
Is the Two Thin Coats paint avalible in Europe/Norway yet?
This is the main factor why I can never play lotr sbg too many miniatures to paint and it’s pretty hard also
Great video! Always love watching you paint!

Good question. It can be done either way tbh, personally, I just do it this way 😊
What are you using as dry palet?
"DOOM DEATH BLACK!" I would like to know who came up with the paint names.
We did, but Doom Death Black was a castle in a campaign we played with some friends and one of them named his castle 'Castle Doom Death' and we thought that that name was awesome so we just had to use it.
How you do that wet palette?
After you have finished painting, do you seal it? If you do what should I use as I don’t want and yellowing…TIA
Check out our video on using Varnishes ☺ All your answers are in there.
what sort of palette are you using in the beginning? i have a wet palette but I would like a better standard palette
It's just a plain old bathroom tile from a hardware store. Really useful to have especially when using washes and even some metallics.
Great stuff - more fantasy pls... Heroquest, Dungeons and Dragons etc
What is emory board ?
Do you seal your minis with anything when you're done?
Yes, I use a mix of AK Interactive Ultra Matt Varnish and Lahmian Medium. 😊
Why don’t you use your paints exclusively on your RUclips channel?
Alot better than rings of power!
Good haircut. Suits well.
Thanks!
Mistrz🤪
Just a comment for the algorithm
Thanks

Houawwwww
Normal old Elrond and not new bad Elrond)

Yeah, but this isn't common gold - this is magical Elven gold
Without any paint that model kind of looks like… Duncan, is that you with long hair???😂
*cheers in Elvish*
.
First
Yes!!!!!!
I laughed because when i painted him, the sword broke in the exact same spot you mentioned.
Yup. Such a pity that weak spot right?
