Please show us how you would approach building, assembling, and painting a Gundam from Bandai. If you need recommendations on which one to try I have several which fulfill different criteria from beginner friendly to more complicated, from 1/144th to 1/100 to 1/60th scale.
Those wetblends take the model to the next level! The Avatar is an imposing centerpiece of an Eldar army and with a paintjob like this he will do more than just have scary rules, he will look stunning too! Games Workshop have been on a roll lately releasing drop dead gorgeous sculpts and Duncan's been doing a great job making painting them approachable.
It's such a weird feeling. These videos both help and make me feel more confident, and yet also still struggling to feel like i'm not ruining models when it never goes quite right1
Congrats for 250k, weil deserved. What a blast to end this working day. The Avatar of Khaine is a miniature i am craving for to add to my bigass miniature collection
Always a treat to have these Academy Vault videos. Especially with how they're used sparingly and kept mainly to your website. Do you have any advice for painting yellow? I've heard it's difficult to paint with
Pink undercoat and yellow paint, or, if you're feeling ballsy with getting down a smooth coat of white, then straight white, yellow ink wash, and shadow that sucker by wet-blending with progressively more red ink wash mixed into your yellow ink wash.
@@DuncanRhodesDRPA Thank you! Your 40k Wolves recipe is class and I cant wait to use it more. Thank you for helping me become a better painter through your previous videos and the academy.
Totally deserved milestone! Honestly, Iam surprised that it is not at least 2-3 times more already! But still a goals to achieve! Best wishes on that journey and good luck!
Happy for your progress m8. This looks amazing and cant wait for whats in store for the future of this channel and thank you for your teachings troughout the years. Ceep up the good work.
For a moment I was thinking "wait, I'm sure I've already seen this, what kind of weird deja vu is this?", then I realized it was on the Academy's website!
This is amazing work of art Duncan. A million of detail on mini make my eye sight worse and worse;) But you handle those tiny details very very good. I love it. Hope some day I can.
Congratulations on the 250k subs! Amazing paintjob on the Avatar, I'm not really planning on painting one any time soon but just wanted to leave a comment, I love watching the tutorials anyways haha. I would love to see some larger scale (54mm or 1/35, or even larger) tutorials from you guys!
The amount of tiny details and numerous colour changes is insane. A model like this would take me a few weeks to build and paint given my current schedule and amount of painting time I currently get.
@@DuncanRhodesDRPA I had planned to use an Eldar pun but I was too impressed with the work and pleased to see you hit 250k! Couldn't have happened to a better guy
Hello Duncan, congrats on your channel milestone. Khaine looks awesome! How did you develop the manual dexterity to paint so well? Do you do any special exercises to train your hands or is it just a matter of painting enough stuff and eventually it will look good?
Thanks Elinoir, it's nothing more than practice. And also learning the right techniques to start with as well learning that it's okay to make mistakes. IF you learn the fundamentals, the rest will come easily.
Hey Duncan great video very instructional thanks again. What's the difference between coating gold with reikland instead of Agrax? Also which gold do you use usually to basecoat and which one for highlights on gold? thanks!!!
Thank you and the good news is that we have already done a full tutorial for that amazing character over on the Academy website (duncanrhodes.com) already 😊
I see Duncan using both a wet and dry palette I have a wet palette but have been using the disposable palettes for the stuff you dont want on the wet palette. What does Duncan use for the dry one, or what kind of things do you all use?
Hi Duncan loving this paint scheme. Really need your help. How can I paint the rune type runes on the base? I want to be able to get the paint to fill into the writing round the summoning circle
Duncan, when you thinned the AP white to run into the line crevices between the muscle “plates” on the abs, was it as thin as an ink like Dayler Rainey (no idea how to spell that, sorry) or Liquitex? Or was it a little thicker than that? Just curious for trying it out in the future since I have some ink I could use out of the pot.
Just the very man... Sir Duncan, this Q is in regards to the new Chaos Chosen minis. On 1 of the sprues there's 2 bolt guns & 2 chainswords with tentacles wrapped around them but do you know where they should be glued (if opting to use them), a friend from WH Glasgow suggested they should be put on backpacks, but which 1s as the spares are clearly meant to fit somewhere, it doesn't show them on the build instructions
This is very great! But I've encountered a problem, I follow along step for step and am very careful but yet mine is still too bright almost while his is super dark but also vibrant? What am I doing wrong
Hey, Duncan. Thx for your job and incredible tutorials! But can you help me? How to get access to your site if I am from Russia? Visa and MasterCard are not available to payment in Europe countries.
I wish videos included this level of detail on assembling the model. I find doing gap filling and filing that is invisible when painted is highly nontrivial and demands at least as much patience as painting.

Fantastic! We are so glad that we could help a little and that you are happy with your miniature. Made my day this 😊

Hey Duncan, thanks for the video! Is there some reason you didn't use your own range of paints for this project?
Yes, we did this tutorial some time ago and at that point, they were still in production 😊
So can we get him to paint Magnis next?
Mold lines inside the cross guard? Or is that the sculpt?

On the dry palette, is there a reason the paint is being placed into a new location and not into the area that the color was already in?

Congrats on the milestone. I would point out that the original avatar of khaine had the spear form of the wailing doom.
We need Pete the Wargamer vs. Duncan.
How is army painter Matt White? I tried multiple brands and all them are blotchy or they don't cover good or just not good no matter what you do
It's not too bad to be honest, we like to use it instead of Citadel's white.
