  • To celebrate the last year, we have gone into the vaults of the Academy (www.duncanrhodes.com) and have unleashed a painting tutorial for the Dark Master himself, Be'lakor for Warhammer 40,000 and Age of Sigmar by Games Workshop. In this tutorial, we show you how to paint this incredible miniature from start to finish, covering every technique you need to know to get a result you will be proud of.
If you enjoyed this tutorial, please leave a Like and a Comment and don't forget to Subscribe and hit that Notification Bell too, it all helps 😊
We both want to say a massive thank you for the last year and for supporting the channel and for checking out and even subscribing to the Academy. We really appreciate the love and support and we can't wait to show you all what we have planned for the next year!

Be'Lakor has to be one of my favorite models GW has ever released. The model is a beautiful piece and I had a ton of fun painting him when he released (took me a month of slowly chipping away a him. Took me a while to field him as he was a bit of a mess to field with Chaos Marines, but the Daemons codex made that easier.

@@ryanneilan3223 As a different idea, I used one of the thin cleaning sponge cloths you can get for mine (I forget the actual name for them), and put it in the lid of the tupperware, as it's just thick enough that the baking parchment is level with the lip, so no reaching into the tupperware to get the paint. I found that the damp sponge holds water for longer and doesn't need to be replaced as often as paper towel.

Thinking of showing the different gods power in him, by using Blood for the Blood god on the hooks and base instead of lava, Nurgle corruption at the holes in his wings as it was about to regenerate and his tongue as Slaanesh. Thinking about using some more Tzeenzy colours on the swords smoke effect.
EDIT: Changed my mind, and will paint the talons on the wings as "bone"ish with blood for the blood god on them.

Like all the leather- you based the leather, then did some metalics, then cloth, then the leather again, then skulls, etc. etc. I think the only area you didn't jump around was the skin and wings. On such a large model, isn't it better to just do one thing at a time until complete before moving on to the next?
