A Last Alliance of Contrast and Layer paints marched against the armies of grey plastic, and upon the tops of painting desks, they fought for the freedom of all hobbyists! Glad to see that Middle-Earth Mondays are back, keep em coming!
I remember the first time watching that scene in the cinema and just being blown away, I had hopes for what that movie was going to be, but yeah as soon as that scene started playing I knew all my hopes had been so far exceeded that I could even remember what they were and just sat their open mouthed till the final credits rolled.
I know it's not really related to this video, but I wanted to say thank you so much for your videos, your parasite of Mortrex video got me into painting 'Nids, and my Mom always really enjoyed seeing them when I finished painting them. I say that, because she lost her battle with cancer last Thursday, and I promised her that I'd paint a Norn Emmisary in her favorite colors of Aqua and Pink in her honor. So thank you for helping me get into a hobby that I could share with her, and teaching me the skills to be able to do that.
Firstly I’m so sorry for your loss. I hope you’re doing as well as possible in these circumstances and looking after yourself. I love that this hobby brought you closer to her and I think painting a norn emissary in her favourite colours is a beautiful way to honour both her and your bond. If there’s anything I can do to help with paint colours etc please let me know, and if you would feel comfortable, I’ve love to see it when it’s finished as well. Thank you so much for sharing that with me, it really means a lot that you wanted to share that.
Totally agree I had read the Lord of the Rings as a teenager then all those years later was blown away with that opening seen and was transfixed for the rest of the movie. The Fellowship of the ring in book and movie was always my favourite. I loved painting the figures, the Perry sculpts were perfect. Loved this video.
I've been waiting for you to do this exact video ever since I found your channel a few months ago!! Your speed painting tutorials are fantastic! Keep it going!
Finially more Middle Earth :) Always love these :) I like the idea of going through the releases in order :) Another idea would mabe be a more vlog-like prozess of painting a full army of any faction :)
Lotr figures are more accurate to scale with fewer oversized details and the fact they're handsculpted by the Perry twins will always make them fun to work on.
Great video as always. I think your video raises a great point how much detail is actually on modern miniatures (i.e. cities of sigmar infantry) and how you can have great minis that are simple in design but are great to sit down and paint.
Certainly simpler than my method. 😅 But I am lavishing them with detail for my collection. Nice to see someone else doing High Elves today. I built 3, that I won on eBay 2 weeks back, with spear and shield to add to Elronds force he brings to help save Thranduil. I'm looking forward to completing my Fall of the Necromancer collection. Got 20+ orcs to paint next and some 3d printed Wargs.
What a fantastic job you did on the Elves! I am actually going to start painting them tonight while following your instructions! Super detailed and well done sir! Question: There seems to be a shortage of Grey Seer, would the Vallejo Grey primer work just as well on the miniatures? What are you thoughts for an alternative to the Grey Seer primer? Please keep up the amazing work on the Lord of the Rings tutorials, they are amazing! P.S Can you do the Black Powder American War of Independence British infantry regiment?
Yes that primer will work. Just keep it consistent. So if you start with that spray stick with it. And what makes you think I’m going to do some random historical box set lol.
Since i have taken closely your instructions, i can say the result is perfect. Where can i refer for creating a good surface for the base of the miniature? What did you use ?
This is what I use! AK Terrain Dark Earth texture paste Ryza Rust (dry) brush Screaming Skull (layer) dry brush I add flock/tuffs once the unit is complete! I have a few basing videos on my channel :) Glad you're happy with the model so far and the tutorial was helpful!
Its amazing that these minis are so old and yet still somewhat decent. Love your lotr content
Glad you like it pal.

Hahaha yup. Same experience as myself I guess.

Not a bad idea at all pal.

I agree 100%

Patiently waiting for the Bill the pony video...
HahHahah some day soon.
For a newbie like me, I wish you didnt cut the scenes where you paint those fine details (like the dirt on the bottom of the skirt)
It’s just paint that hit the cape when I wa drybrushing then base.
I don't do fantasy for which I am grateful. Why? Because I would not be able to help myself and I would end up putting strings on those bows.
Hahhaha it’s is a sickness.
The elven armor has a green tint to the gold
As in mine does. Or mine needs it?
