My pile of shame/glory grew significantly over the last 3 years. I've been working on many projects on & off or simultaneously, and most of them are not even finished (yet). I noticed how my ability to identify bits and sprues fast improved significantly over time.
So my boy got me into Warhammer about 2 years ago and between us we have approximately 150 models in the pile of shame. It's across seven armies including: Necrons, Admech, T'au, Guard, Orruks (AOS), Stormcast Eternals (AOS), and Eldari. I knew nothing about Warhammer until he suggested we try and as you can see, we are fully into it and getting worse! But it's a great thing to do with my son and we have an AMAZING group at our FLGS that has really adopted us! Your channel is awesome and my boy loves it. You're so positive and it's obvious you love what you do. Keep it up!
real quick - NOBODY wants to snip bits and put them in those jewelry boxes. However, if you think about the system you opted for, You will have to find the right box of bit, then pull ALL of the sprues out, then scan each sprue HOPING you have 1 left arm remaining. I feel like the time snipping and organizing would be worth it to avoid painful searches later, also the bits you snip don't technically need to be cleaned up, so if a bit of sprue is left on a leg you will never use, nobody cares. I think you need to have a snipping party with your friends. Get a couple buddies over, beers, pizza, put on some starwars and start snipping. Or do what you're doing. Mine all remain in a box on the sprue until I care enough to look at them. Anyways, love you. You are constantly motivating me. Thank you.
this is the kind of thing where going back to do it is tedious as hell. But if you get in the practice of snipping right away and stay on top of it, it's great.
Really? I actually love cutting off the excess bits off the sprues, after having built the models, and putting them in their respective little boxes, while the sprue frames are getting cut down to around a half or a quarter and stored for sprue goo, sprue glue and whatever else. (of course, I have like 60 minis, I started back in last October, I might get bored of the procedure when they become 600 or soemthing)
I just got into TT games and minis middle of this year with my three kids. So far just a nostalgic foray into Battletech (primarily Alpha Strike) with the little ones. 75 mechs yet to be painted between us (my youngest, she's ahead of all of us on painted count 😂). I've been gaining interest in WH though as I've watched to learn how to paint and love this channel @EonsOfBattle. Jay's humor and style resonate with me and I hope to get some Warhammer at some point and start stepping up my painting game!
@@magnusmillerwilson I know, right? I never got to play much growing up but I was obsessed with the big stompy guys and the weirdly alluring line art in the Tech Readouts. I just happened on it again (I thought it had died out after the Wiz Kids Dark Age stuff) and my kids immediately gravitated towards it as I had many, many years before. And we found the less crunchy Alpha Strike which was perfectly suited for quicker games and less math for my little ones. It is great and like I said above I'm starting to branch out a bit because I finally took the plunge and painted a few. All in all, it's been a really cool journey the past few months.
I have 263 models in my collection. A somewhat viable Admech army and a bunch of Kill teams. Nothing compared to some of you guys, some of you are mental.
True. I've got a Deathguard army 2600 points, 2200 Votann army and a 2700 point Chaos Space Marine army needing painting. Luckly the CSM armie is already undercoated.

Ive got eight minis in my pile of shame, 1 Deathwing Knight, Belial, Chaplian in Terminator Armor, 2 Bladeguard Veterans, 1 Librarian in Phobos Armor, Azrael, and a Redemptor Dreadnought. Not even a pile, ive got a handfull of shame.
I bought a property and had to pack to move so decided to sort out my modeling workshop, so watching how you stored your stuff has helped heaps. Worked out that I've spent around 500+ aus on the plastic storage, but thinking that because i labeled it while i was packing and sorting, it will make the relocation and unpacking much easier, Any way it took 2 months to sort and pack, but I've been collecting since WD 85, so a very long time. Love what you and your bros do, keep up the great work. Regards J for the land down under ... Oz
This past year I have whittled my pile of opportunity down to 1 furioso dreadnaught, 1 box of grey knight strike squad and 1 box of cataphractii terminators left to build. Still Have about 40 models to finish painting for my armies. Feel accomplished this year!
My pile of shame grows day by day. I just started playing and collecting in the last 6 or 7 months and my pile exploded lol. In total, Im at over 100 models in my pile of shame. I tend to dedicate waaaay too much time to normal infantry, but i enjoy making each model look as best I can. Im also planning on getting some Sterilites to keep all my leftover sprues in as well. Good video Jay!
As someone extremely new to the hobby, my pile of shame consists of two and a half termagants, all who are broken and abused from the person I bought the nids combat patrol from. Everything else is painted but I cannot seem to be able to fix those termagants
If you can make spru goo what I do is get a small needle put a tiny bit on it and put it on one side of the broken segment put it together and hold for about 30 to 40 seconds and the it should hold its place but let it dry for about 10 minutes
I have been using red testor plastic glue for decades. It is cheap, it is strong, it is easy to find, won't discolor the plastic. Use lots. Try to find some proxies for the new special weps they have. They do all suck though. different than main gun, but no better or worse. I most often run mine as fleshborers, or devourers. The special weps just kinda get in the way, but can be nice.
You could always use the gaunts as a set of base decorations for bigger things or something else. I borrowed one of my parents old gaunts for a krootox rampager to be tearing apart
At first I didn’t think I had that many models in my pile of shame, until I realized the unpainted models I’ve been playing with also count lol. I’ve got about 33 models in total
My pile of shame isn't too too bad. A handful of models, and some repaints of older models. Honestly I know this is a 40k Primary channel but I absolutely love to see some SWL, SWS, Malifaux painting videos. Those are honestly so fun to watch.
I'm just glad that during the fall and winter, I manage to almost completely finish assembling my pile of shame. The only kits left are one Imperial Knight, a Stormfang gunship and a Forge World Land Raider. Though now I've got a lot of painting to do.
ive got like 80 marines and a few vehicles sitting around my pile of shame, they're all super old 3rd edition stuff that is older than me and hasn't seen the light of day
So far in my Pile of Shame I have a new box of Space Marine Assault Intercessors and a D&D DragonBorn Fighters kit, as well as 4 Gundam kits, one of which I’m currently painting. Love the videos they have been a big help to me.
for warhammer, i’ve got two titans (warlord & warhound), three imperial knights, an entire 2300pt iron hands army (~50 models), 1800pt thousand sons army (~40 models + magnus), ~3000pts of death guard (which i’m currently painting!!!), an entire ossiarch bonereapers army in box, death korps of krieg in bag, and my 14000pts of sons of horus… yikes. plus there’s a ton of random models thrown in there for funsies. for a song of ice and fire, i have EVERYTHING but the newest faction, brotherhood of banners, and targaryens. otherwise that’s like 1500 models that i’ve painted MAYBE 50 of. ouch. thanks for dredging that up, jay. you’ll pay for this.
Holy shit man! Get painting! We believe in you! Take a pic of the first model you painted of the 1500 and the last of the 1500 to see how much you improve. That’s a lot of money, time, and fun you’ve got waiting for you!
Wow! That puts my pile to shame! You should not buy another thing before you finish some of those projects 😂 With my speed at building and painting, I would be set for decades.
Just 34 unpainted with only 11 still in the box! This past year I've actually been completing my projects! Thank you for the inspiration, I couldn't do it without EoB : )
Last time I check my pile (may 2020) I have 3834 minis and that didn't include Gotham City ks and other coming after 2020. I didn't count subcribtion to Imperium, Mortal Realms and Conquest, no the 2 Indomitus box, second Massive Darkness ks, Wolfenstein ks... I think I'm above 4500minis to paint. edit: I find excel from june 2023 and I'm with 6947 minis...
....I'll never be able to understand having unopened plastic crack boxes lying around, let alone dozens for entire factions. I can barely leave a duplicate hero sprue lying about without wanting to put it together and convert it up. And that's before even thinking of all the money sunk into those unopened boxes - I wish I could spend and forget that I did, haha.
".I'll never be able to understand having unopened plastic crack boxes lying around" Unopened Warhammer boxes that have been discontinued for 20 or 30 years tend to increase in value and the collectors want to pay a lot of money for them. Take for instance the Thorgrim Dwarf King on Thrown or the Dieter on Manticore both from the 1990s. They are sold for around 100 to 150 Euros if second hand and if they are in the unopened original box they are going for around 250 to 300 euros at least. The original Plastic Skeleton box sets are also sold for a high price. Warhammer in god condition without / with the box from the 1990s open or unopened can be worth a lot on the collectors market. Take the original plastic space marines, the squats and the imperial guards. If you own several of those unopened boxes you are setting on a good pile of cash.
@@vivalaliberty Using unopened Warhammer kits as speculation objects is about as sensible as buying dogecoin. Nobody with good sense buys them up to sell them in 20-30 years. Also: those scalpers buying up and dumping Black Library novels on ebay can gtfo as well.
Stoked to see you collecting the Kroot. I just started collecting and have a Necron army and kroot army going with some random models here and there. Being new I have around 100 models to paint but man is that eBay button easy to click when you see a new model to get excited about. Thanks for the videos!
My Pile of shame currently consist of: 161 Models of varying size and factions. More specifically: 5 Intercessors 10 Ass Intercessors 10 Infiltrators 1 Impulsor 1 Redemptor Dread 1 Phobos Lt. 2 Bladeguard Lt. 3 Eliminators 3 Suppressors 1 Cannoness 5 Sacresants 10 Battlesisters 10 Repentia 3 Deftakoptas 10 Kommandos 20 Kriegsman 1 Old Sentinel 10 Old Caidans 1 Russ (heresy strike variant) 20 Necron Warriros 1 Doomstalker 2 Royal Wardens 1 Overlord with ressurection orb 20 Rats 3 Rat Ogors 1 Rat on rat 1 Greyseer 1 Rat engineer 3 Warplock jezails 1 big rat blaster Disturbing amount of plastic terrain which I will not count towards "amount of unpainted models" Props to anybody who can desipher which "value" boxes I bought XD Just as a sidenote: I am in this hobby for two years now. And just for comparison I will include a list of everything I have painted. 1 Bladeguard Captain (ultramarine) 8 Ass Intercessors (ultramarine) 3 Outriders (ultramarine) 5 Intercessors (deathwatch) 5 Ass Intercessors (deathwatch) 1 Warboss in Mega armour (blood axes) 20 Boyz (blood axes) 1 Deff Dread (blood axes) 10 Kommandos (blood axes) 20 Necron Warriors + 3 Scarabs (custom dynasty) 1 Technomancer (custom dynasty) 5 Immortals (actually hierotec circle kill team) (custom dynasty) 20 Rats Some terrain - but not enough :DD
"Its 5 plus 3 plus 10 plus 1, yep that is 20, thats how numbers work" fave new Jay quote. And yeah, I have like, 50~ orks that still need to be painted/finished up (including a stopma) plus 15 StD models for the army I am starting up, but those are like currently being painted so I dont know if they count
Love your work mate I have Orks from 1997 still in battle force box. Along with over 150 unbuilt unpainted models from Space marines to old Lizard men metals.
I have 83 unpainted minis, a mix of warhammer and dnd. I just started the painting in this hobby last year and I thought there was no way I’ll end up with a pile of shame but here I am
Pile of potential is sitting at 400 minis total on the dot. Many are still on the sprue but there is probably 100 or so already assembled and or partially painted at least, mostly for test minis. A good chunk of this was bought for older rulesets that now make them defunct ruleswise or local communities have dried up for sadly, that's why some have sat in the pile for awhile. AoS has been what I've been going for recently since spearhead looks really cool, not had a chance to play much yet due to being busy this last year. Good luck to everyone and hope we all slay some more gray this year!
I always love videos about people organizing their collections, it's cathartic. I am grateful I don't have a pile of shame quite as massive as you, but still plenty to work with. By my count there is 140 models that still need building....and maybe 4 times as much that still need painting. Might need to get me some totes...
I recently started getting into warhammer in August, the pile of shame started with the necron combat patrol and it has expanded to a 3k point necron army and about 655 in admec. I go to my local warhammer store to play and the people there are great. I love every friday just playing with my buddys at the store.
Fellow Legion player I have a full prequel starter set in my pile of shame alongside some 40k being 1,500 pts of marines, 1k of guard and 650 of Admech
I cannot tell you how much I love the Seventh Sister. She's unironically my favourite Star Wars character. I would love to see you paint her and the Fifth Brother.
My New Years Project is to start painting minis! I've been fascinated by all mini's since I found my grandma's box of pewter AD&D figures in the late 80's. For my birthday last year I was given a little painting kit of an undead beholder and loved painting that hideous thing. Been eyeing getting my hands on a killteam, while my partner is interested in playing spearhead but not in painting. Sounds like extra painting projects to me! I'm planning to get a bit here and there, as I'm broke right now, till I can actually properly paint something. Rescently found out there is a warhammer store in my city!
Love the Video, makes me feel better about myself. I can count around 270 with a mix of Old World, 30k, 40k, AoS and non warhammer bits. The smallest pile is 40k with only 35 models left to build so thats something I guess. Enevitable there will be more hiden out of sight (pushed to the corners as you've said) so make it a nice even 300. (this is just what left on sprues, the grey spreads further than that)
I've got a few tyranids, and then a handfull of dwarves, wood elves, empire folks from old World. All together its probably between 50 and 100 models waiting in boxes ^^ All of the models were bought 15+ years ago as i've started painting again pretty recently
Almost my entire collection is my pile of shame lol, I have a hard time finding painting motivation, and often find myself buildong / kitbashing instead. I've been better about it recently though! I'm not entirely sure about model count, but it's almost my entire 6000 point Ork army, my entire 4000 points of guard, my Age of Darkness Heresy box, and now I'm starting Genestealer Cults and have the battleforce and some extra infantry to work through. Most of this is all built, primed, or prepped for painting, I just gotta do it lol. I've been selling off all the stuff I know I'll never want to get to though, and my Age of Darkness might be next up on that 😮. Happy New Year everyone! And may your piles of shame shrink this year!
I have 793 unpainted minis. 24 are Quar and part of a plan to try and see if my SO is interested in the hobby. The remainder are primarily Warhammer, with probably 25% of the pool being other games. I picked most of these up when I was in a rough spot and have been steadily whittling the pile down over the past two years. Doing inventory was a great way to convince me to hold off on picking up a 3d printer this year. So that's a win.
Ohman I got too many things in my pile of shame. But not that many orks, only 2christmas gobbos. I am not at home nor will be in anytime soon so I'll estimate from memory that I have just 120necrons, 60admech, 3knights, and 24necromunda models. Also stingwing killteam and deathguard kill team. Not to mention all age of sigmar seraphons which I got whole christmas box all untouched. What would be lovely to see from you is one painting round of admech and how you would tackle all the tiny details! On your pile of shame that enraged fairy looks rad! Happy this year Jay!
hey Jay, nice video as always. Right now in my although small pile of shame i have 6 Bladeguard vets, 5 Sternguard vets and a couple of leaders for my Carcharodons, as well as 4 Plague Marines to make a Kill Team. And good luck for the next titan to bring to this year's Adepticon!
I have 34 in my pile of shame but I'm still going in chronological order (I'm such a big fan i have been subscribed since before you hit 70k and i watch every video and i love it)
There is a Japanese word, Tsundoku, that describes the phenomenon of acquiring reading materials but letting them pile up in one's home without reading them. The writer Johnathan Lethem has a great quote about this idea: “For me, there’s a lovely mystery and pregnancy about a book that hasn’t given itself over to you yet-sometimes I’m the most inspired by imagining what the contents of an unread book might be.” In many respects, the term Tsundoku can be applied to the phenomenon of collecting miniatures also. I’ve a couple hundred unpainted miniatures in my collection. I will never paint them all but have no regrets.
I did a quick inventory of my pile of shame and it was so much that I was like "I probably shouldn't enter a contest for Skaventide..." BUT! Here we are! 155 models. Includes a Deathwatch Combat Patrol, Kill Team Cassius, AoS Battleforce Wrekkamob, Redemptor Dreadnaught, a handful of hero models & primarchs, some Chaplains, Heavy Intercessors, and a recently acquired Krieg Kill Team!
I currently have 8 models in my pile of shame, 4 of which are Scarab Terminators, one kitbashed chaos lord, the ninth edition space marine captain, and 2 Assault Marines from the same box
Have about 120 models that need painting in the pile of shame. They range from a few Tyranids, Death Guard, and Imperial Guard models. Also have two new Krieg boxes that need assembling/painting.
I have 7 models left in my pile - the remainder of the 9th edition elite starter set, a couple new models for my necrons, and then a random LOTR box I just thought was cool.
Im actually doing surprisingly well while on my college break cutting down my necron pile of shame. Out of 32 grey models, I have painted 20 warriors, 3 ophyidian destroyers, and a mostly painted Skorpekh Lord. I wanna get the rest of it done in the last 10 days of my break. Best of luck with the plastic crack, everyone!
A chance to win a box and a fun video. Great way to start the new year! My pile of shame is mostly wood elves awaiting their rerelease into the Old World. Pumped for that. Probably around 150 models? Thanks for the sweet video!
I have a spreadsheet cataloguing my pile of shame: 46% of the models in my collection are fully painted, 10% are partially painted, 10% are primed, 8% are under construction, and 27% are untouched, for a total pile of shame 97 models large. My goal this year is to make that shrink!
Oh wow, let me break this down so I can keep track. Also, well done, getting organized is so worth it, as challenging as it may be. Dark Eldar ~65 Space Wolves ~70 Ogres ~9 Empire of Man ~ 69 Beastmen/ Beast of Chaos ~70 Lizardmen ~68 Goblins ~100 Reaper Minis & various ~ 300-400 So high water mark around 850+.... And this year I got 72 painted.
im sorta new into the hobby, and i used to think "how could a pile of shame even happen, just buy what you want and paint them" but i was so naive. my pile is growing really quickly. rn i have 40 bloodletters among other khorne guys.
If only counting Warhammer, I have 36 models in my pile of shame currently. If you count the minis I'm painting for the D&D game I run as well, that number goes up to well over 100 individual minis/models to paint. Thankfully, many of those can be painted in batches, and the airbrush will help make them go faster, but it's still a lot to do.
I have 189 models that are waiting in boxes like you (original or sterilite). Mostly 75 Stormcast, 38 Dark Angels, plus 24 Chaos Warriors and 32 Elves from Warhammer Battle, 20 confrontation models (Wolfens and Grifons). Pile of shame not so big compared to my around 500 painted models, but time is running and we always want to buy new models faster than we paint. Could BE Nice to see you painting more AOS Spearhead with alternative colors schemes (Fireslayers should be difficult to change) Thanks for your videos and smile
I have 133 minis in my pile. Most random ones that i think would be cool to build and paint, except squigs are best so purposefully collecting boxes with squigs
Most of my minis are in various stages of painting but not counting the ones that are done (enough where I have no more desire to add to them) I’m looking at: 8 SCE, 96 SM/GK infantry, 6 tanks, 3 dreadnoughts/dreadknights, 24 MESBG minis, 6 infinity minis, and a box of mdf terrain pieces to build up (140 and terrain total). Honestly better than I thought but more minis are in the mail/about to be shipped
44 T'au, 38 Tyranids, around 50 Orks and having received a friend's old army, more than 100 Black Templars from on sprue to primed and ready to be painted Also a few Necrons, Aeldari, 30 ish LOTR mini and a Stormcast
My pile of shame was big, maybe 300ish models. Then I bought a 3d printer and now there's no way in hell I can count how many little guys I have unfinished.
I just finished everything from my pile of shame. (a baneblade, a guy on foot that came with the baneblade, and a proxy of a tau battlesuit... thing). I tend to build first, then paint later when i get the chance. the one model i have yet to do anything with is one that came in a few days ago as of this writing from a company called kotobukiya which does things like mechs and the like. (Vic Viper from ZOne of Enders 2, for those curious). They also pre-colour the plastic itself. so it's more or less already painted if you just want a basic thing. the only reason i haven't started on it is because i'm currently sick. I feel that i should wait until i feel better before assembleing it.
Not including things I’m painting for a friend (which slows down my own progress lol) my pile of shame is: - Unassembled: 5 models total (3 units), but I was gifted them two days ago - Built but bare plastic: 53 models total (12 units) - Primed but unpainted: 25 models total (5 units) - In progress painting: 4 models total (4 units)
i have 36 kroot to paint. I started collecting halfway through this year and got 3x the tau starter box, 1 every now and again. I was tinkering with the idea of making skaven kroot :D
My husband and i both collect and paint, but he is the one who mainly plays Our current pile of shame is probably around 106 minis still on the sprue and 50 built but unpainted haha My plan this year is to try to tackle the pile of shame!
I have a monsterous amount of unbuilt termagaunts that scatter around my apartment, but the rest consist of unbuilt/painted rubric marine heads that I am deeply scared of

@@kenupton4084I’m about there and it’s a scary thought
That is not a pile of shame. That is a beginning hobby project.
There's no "too much time on infantry" if you are enjoying painting them
i have about 150 models in the mountain of shame and hope to add some more soon
Heh! That's the right attitude to a pile of shame. Yolo some more models into it. That's what I do as well.
We all gotta start somewhere, don't worry before know it it'll have grown to point where try to avoid eye contact
@rowbot5555 That's fair when mine were broken. I was just starting my army, so I wanted the units, and it wasn't hard. Plus, it was an eBay buy
At first I didn’t think I had that many models in my pile of shame, until I realized the unpainted models I’ve been playing with also count lol. I’ve got about 33 models in total
I have 89 models in my pile of shame, all Kroot models because I loved the new box and wanted to go hard on Kroot and rampagers and farstalkers too
My pile of shame isn't too too bad. A handful of models, and some repaints of older models.
Honestly I know this is a 40k Primary channel but I absolutely love to see some SWL, SWS, Malifaux painting videos. Those are honestly so fun to watch.
Jay has posted a fair amount of Legion content in the past, but I agree, the channel definitely needs more
I'm just glad that during the fall and winter, I manage to almost completely finish assembling my pile of shame. The only kits left are one Imperial Knight, a Stormfang gunship and a Forge World Land Raider. Though now I've got a lot of painting to do.
ive got like 80 marines and a few vehicles sitting around my pile of shame, they're all super old 3rd edition stuff that is older than me and hasn't seen the light of day
1:20 When I did this for fantasy figures I guessed 200 - it turned out to be over a 1000.
So far in my Pile of Shame I have a new box of Space Marine Assault Intercessors and a D&D DragonBorn Fighters kit, as well as 4 Gundam kits, one of which I’m currently painting. Love the videos they have been a big help to me.
I only have 21 minis in my pile of shame as I’ve managed to hold back from buying more orks.
This is your sign to buy more 40k
for warhammer, i’ve got two titans (warlord & warhound), three imperial knights, an entire 2300pt iron hands army (~50 models), 1800pt thousand sons army (~40 models + magnus), ~3000pts of death guard (which i’m currently painting!!!), an entire ossiarch bonereapers army in box, death korps of krieg in bag, and my 14000pts of sons of horus… yikes. plus there’s a ton of random models thrown in there for funsies. for a song of ice and fire, i have EVERYTHING but the newest faction, brotherhood of banners, and targaryens. otherwise that’s like 1500 models that i’ve painted MAYBE 50 of. ouch. thanks for dredging that up, jay. you’ll pay for this.
Holy shit man! Get painting! We believe in you! Take a pic of the first model you painted of the 1500 and the last of the 1500 to see how much you improve. That’s a lot of money, time, and fun you’ve got waiting for you!
Wow! That puts my pile to shame! You should not buy another thing before you finish some of those projects 😂
With my speed at building and painting, I would be set for decades.
Just 34 unpainted with only 11 still in the box! This past year I've actually been completing my projects! Thank you for the inspiration, I couldn't do it without EoB : )
About 350. And that's just from this year, which is when I started the hobby. But I did paint up 266 models this year. So I think I did pretty decent.
At 24:05 your tray of Kroot moves. This is actually scary hahaha
Holy cow... Do your parents own oil land? I feel like that's more then most people make in a year, in plastic! LOLOLOL. Amazing!
I mean this is over more than a decade in the hobby
He is also doing it for a living. He could label his miniature purchases as buisness expense.
@@roberthartburg266
Given his channel size he also gets some sent for free most likely

Last time I check my pile (may 2020) I have 3834 minis and that didn't include Gotham City ks and other coming after 2020. I didn't count subcribtion to Imperium, Mortal Realms and Conquest, no the 2 Indomitus box, second Massive Darkness ks, Wolfenstein ks...
I think I'm above 4500minis to paint.
edit: I find excel from june 2023 and I'm with 6947 minis...
Absolutely insane how the hell did you even buy all of those and not go bankrupt
If we have to include our Kickstarter games like five versions Zombicide or three loads of Reaper Bones, then my pile goes up two orders of magnitude.
@@Blaze-ic5ge there is a second hand market. Just saying.
I probably have around 70 models in my pile of shame, I came back to the hobby after 15 years and I just love it even more now !!!
My Pile of shame..... i actually didnt finished all my armies so around 800 could be possible.
....I'll never be able to understand having unopened plastic crack boxes lying around, let alone dozens for entire factions. I can barely leave a duplicate hero sprue lying about without wanting to put it together and convert it up. And that's before even thinking of all the money sunk into those unopened boxes - I wish I could spend and forget that I did, haha.
I can never have an unopened box I love examining the contents even if I’m not going to build for a while
".I'll never be able to understand having unopened plastic crack boxes lying around" Unopened Warhammer boxes that have been discontinued for 20 or 30 years tend to increase in value and the collectors want to pay a lot of money for them.

I think im actually on top of it still 16 unbuild models and 12 build but not painted. SOOO im cleared to buy more right xD
"Its 5 plus 3 plus 10 plus 1, yep that is 20, thats how numbers work" fave new Jay quote.
And yeah, I have like, 50~ orks that still need to be painted/finished up (including a stopma) plus 15 StD models for the army I am starting up, but those are like currently being painted so I dont know if they count
i have like 500 models in my pile q_q
Started in June this year, I have around 70 modeles to paint for 26 painted
And I can't stop buying more everytime I am going to the shop
12 minis in my pile of shame cause I'm new to the hobby and painting my Xmas haul
I have 5 imperial scout troopers, 7 wrath-of-kings pit fighters, ur-025, and a sydonian skatros. I've just started painting, and I'm loving it.
51 space marines, 14 tyranids, and 34 of sisters of battle minis in the pile right now, hoo boy it’s scary when you actually count it
My New Years Project is to start painting minis!
(this is just what left on sprues, the grey spreads further than that)
17 models in my pile of shame but saddly very litlle age of sigmar i own.
I've got a few tyranids, and then a handfull of dwarves, wood elves, empire folks from old World. All together its probably between 50 and 100 models waiting in boxes ^^
All of the models were bought 15+ years ago as i've started painting again pretty recently
I only recently got into warhammer, but I already have probably around 50 models in my pile of shame
I have 34 in my pile of shame but I'm still going in chronological order (I'm such a big fan i have been subscribed since before you hit 70k and i watch every video and i love it)
Started collecting just this year. Pile of opportunity just hit 35. Super excited to build my first Death Guard army.
There is a Japanese word, Tsundoku, that describes the phenomenon of acquiring reading materials but letting them pile up in one's home without reading them.
The writer Johnathan Lethem has a great quote about this idea: “For me, there’s a lovely mystery and pregnancy about a book that hasn’t given itself over to you yet-sometimes I’m the most inspired by imagining what the contents of an unread book might be.”
In many respects, the term Tsundoku can be applied to the phenomenon of collecting miniatures also. I’ve a couple hundred unpainted miniatures in my collection. I will never paint them all but have no regrets.
My pile of shame is about 40 models right now after a long holiday of sorting what I have so this video was great to see!
My pile of shame is almost all of my miniatures except for two terminators, six Infernus marines, one intercessor, and a fire strike servo turret
This might be my favorite video of yours jay!
I have 7 models left in my pile - the remainder of the 9th edition elite starter set, a couple new models for my necrons, and then a random LOTR box I just thought was cool.
there's like 100 models in my pile of shame, i have a lot of lizards to get through
Im actually doing surprisingly well while on my college break cutting down my necron pile of shame.
Dark Eldar ~65
Space Wolves ~70
Ogres ~9
Empire of Man ~ 69
Beastmen/ Beast of Chaos ~70
Lizardmen ~68
Goblins ~100
Reaper Minis & various ~ 300-400
So high water mark around 850+.... And this year I got 72 painted.
A whole age of darkness box,
4 armingers and 1 imperial knight, black templar combat patrol, a Emporors champion and a lohkust lord
im sorta new into the hobby, and i used to think "how could a pile of shame even happen, just buy what you want and paint them" but i was so naive. my pile is growing really quickly. rn i have 40 bloodletters among other khorne guys.
Could BE Nice to see you painting more AOS Spearhead with alternative colors schemes (Fireslayers should be difficult to change)
Thanks for your videos and smile
I've got about 20 models in my pile of shame. 5 Deathwing Terminators, and 15 Horus Heresy Tacitical Marines. 🤟 Love the channel Jay!
About 100 Marines waiting for details to be painted.
7. Just started with the hobby a couple months back, but give it time, the pile will grow from 7 to 700 in no time
Five full kill teams, the space marine half of dark imperium, and 30+ death guard models, just waiting to be painted.
I have 133 minis in my pile. Most random ones that i think would be cool to build and paint, except squigs are best so purposefully collecting boxes with squigs
It's not a pile of shame, it's a mound of spare bits.
Most of my minis are in various stages of painting but not counting the ones that are done (enough where I have no more desire to add to them) I’m looking at:
8 SCE, 96 SM/GK infantry, 6 tanks, 3 dreadnoughts/dreadknights, 24 MESBG minis, 6 infinity minis, and a box of mdf terrain pieces to build up (140 and terrain total). Honestly better than I thought but more minis are in the mail/about to be shipped
44 T'au, 38 Tyranids, around 50 Orks and having received a friend's old army, more than 100 Black Templars from on sprue to primed and ready to be painted
Also a few Necrons, Aeldari, 30 ish LOTR mini and a Stormcast
I only have 4 myrmourn banshees and a craventhrone guard box to build and paint.
I have 26 models in what I'll just call my "pile of potential." But I share them with my dad. I put them together and then we both paint them.
My pile of shame was big, maybe 300ish models. Then I bought a 3d printer and now there's no way in hell I can count how many little guys I have unfinished.
No models in my pile of shame, I just have some lead or pewter models I painted when I was younger. Really enjoy your videos.
I have absolutely no pile of shame and love Warhammer 40k and it's awesome that your giving out a box of scaventide
Not including things I’m painting for a friend (which slows down my own progress lol) my pile of shame is:
- Unassembled: 5 models total (3 units), but I was gifted them two days ago
- Built but bare plastic: 53 models total (12 units)
- Primed but unpainted: 25 models total (5 units)
- In progress painting: 4 models total (4 units)
My pile of shame spans at least 2 closets and probably spans over 1000 models from various systems, that hoarder gene kicking in.
i have 36 kroot to paint. I started collecting halfway through this year and got 3x the tau starter box, 1 every now and again. I was tinkering with the idea of making skaven kroot :D
i meant last year, Happy new years eons!
My husband and i both collect and paint, but he is the one who mainly plays
Our current pile of shame is probably around 106 minis still on the sprue and 50 built but unpainted haha
My plan this year is to try to tackle the pile of shame!
I just started got some space marines build and painted I’m just learning to play is really fun maybe this year I will have a army to paint and play !
I have a monsterous amount of unbuilt termagaunts that scatter around my apartment, but the rest consist of unbuilt/painted rubric marine heads that I am deeply scared of
I only have 57 minis in my pile of shame but have been working on finishing off what I have started before buying or building any more.
