The disturbing part about the skinwalker’s lure is that when you hear it, the walker already knows you’re there. And that it’s just trying to bait you closer. Absolutely terrifying.
Omg yes! That’s it, i hadn’t exactly registered why it was sooo creepy but that’s exactly it. Once you hear them, they’ve long since clocked you and are now playing with your mind.
There is one I saw the trailer for on Amazon prime, i can't find it though, i remember the brief synopsis, it was about 4 adults or college students at some house or cabin in the woods and they have to figure out what's real and not real since there's a skin walker outside, looked pretty decent too but I can't for the love of my life find it
Plus malnutrition makes you look like you're just about to do a super glamour model photo shoot right after doing a triathlon.. like the hardcore ones where you crap your pants and keep going
I don’t if it’s intentional but I love the fact that the screams for help almost don’t sound like fully pronounced words but rather just the mimicking of the sounds.
It literally is mimicking, the thing is that it doesn’t ever hear people say “help” with full pronunciation or any words really so it can’t clearly articulate it and simply adjust volume for distance like humans would yell louder and at a distance the acute pronunciation wouldn’t be as noticeable so skinwalkers imitate the only sounds they know from humans; screams of terror. Creepy how they’re aware of humans empathy too and use it against us
Lots of animals can sound human. Especially when distressed. Anyone who doesn't spend time in the wilderness could easily think an animal is a human yelling. Mountain lions, racoons, deer and elk, rabbits can all sound similar to humans... Crows can actually mimic. There are real dangers to worry about out there, but shape shifters are probably not one of them.
I love how the skin walker doesnt directly charge straight at the camera. It just runs in the general direction running in a zig zag pattern, like it was able to hear the main character but not able to pin point it. It makes it seem more like a hunter
Ever lost a digital watch with a set alarm? It can be tricky to find given its location. He's in a forest and the trees would've bounced sound around in multiple directions. This is probably the same for anyone trying to find the origin of a cricket or cicada's chirp in a forest.
The thing that set me over the top for how good this is was when the skinwalker was crawling to him at top speed but the scream didnt change distance and it didnt sound like the crawling was even affecting how it screamed, which means it saw you but was still trying to lure you into security because its smart. Truly triggered my fight or flight, well done sir, i hope we get a skinwalker movie like this one day. the red mist is coming
The acting is very not top notch lol. And the dialogue is crap, just repeating stuff or not setting up character.. Had to skip 80% of it coz it was so boring. Thing that irked me the most was those stupid added foot steps like cmon 😂
I love the detail that the "HELP!" and "SOMEBODY!" always sound exactly the same. Same inflection and everything. Because, of course, it's just mimicking what it's heard already.
I love how its actually in tune with skin walker lore. As when the kid acknowledged the screaming at the end, it suddenly began chasing them. In navoho lore im pretty sure that the big rule is do not acknowledge noises that walkers make, as they will know that you can hear them and they will come for you
Not really. Yee Naaldlooshii is the word Navajo use for Skinwalkers, and mostly Skinwalkers are exclusive to the Navajo but hypothetically any Witch Doctor could become a Skinwalker. Yee Naaldlooshii roughly translates to "by any means of it, he goes on all fours". Whistling is believed to be one of the noises that gets their attention, as well as talking about them in general. To acknowledge the sound might be in the beliefs somewhere but I've only heard about what I said. Looking them in the eyes can have significance, if only because they have cast aside their humanity, so to look into the eyes would be like looking into a void, something soulless but undoubtedly human. They cast aside their humanity by denouncing their human name and killing the one closest to them. The one who would be their main motivation for staying in the human world. This is why saying their name has significance. You invoke the very thing they cast aside for enhanced physical abilities and shapeshifting power. A skinwalker attack looks less like what's depicted in the movie. Multiple things can happen. Yes they might mimic the voices of loved ones but they don't mimic the shape of them, that's Goat Men. They'll also run laps around your house, just the pounding of hooves or heavy feet doing 360s around your home, or stomping on your roof. After this if you inspect your home you might find the actual means of attack, a "fetish" which is pieces of you like your hair or urine, mixed with animal bones and other unpleasant things, then left on your property to bring negative energy, misfortune, and sickness to your body. Usually beneath your house, like under your porch, or hanging on a tree at the treeline of your property, somewhere you likely won't notice unless you knew to look for a fetish afterward to get rid of it.
@@ghoulishgoober3122 I didn't know ANY of that. Thanks for taking the time to share it. It was disorienting for me to expect an American Southwest setting for this skinwalker short film based on the title, but find myself in a post-apocalyptic U.K. world instead. Fresh concept, works! My Four Corners-area rancher friend knows certain canyons to avoid on native lands, and doesn't even *joke* about skinwalker lore. In fact, his face went gray and he stopped talking, so I changed the subject.
I want to say I have, I was living Pinetop, AZ in 2008 and I think I heard plea's for help one time when cutting through a Forest park to get home after school. It tripped me out because I didn't know where it was coming from and I was deep into the woods, I kept going because I had a weird chill but took me couple hours to get home. Thought cutting through the forest would be quicker, it wasn't with an ingrown deep toe nail. 😢
The horror in this is fantastic. The thought of something that isn't human, using our distress calls when it is drooling at the thought of us fooling for it. Properly frightening. Please make this a full movie
I love the idea of just a rapid decline in the human population encouraging things that've evaded and eluded humans for millenia coming out of hiding and being more active, now that humanity is on the backfoot.
This honestly reminds me of the video game Metro. Set in post-apocalyptic Russia its about survivaling other humans in the underground tunnels of subway stations, while supernatural forces can be witnessed during the protagonists journey. Favorite part was the whispers in the pipes and the dark shadows.
The way old man just slowly turns around when hearing the noises, not freaking out, it’s so much more realistic. Being someone who hunts and has spent a good bit of time in the woods before the sun has even come up I don’t freak out when I hear a stick snap. The way people react to noises in the woods is a lot calmer, it feels like stretching your ears to see if you can discern what it was just by the noise. Being in the woods is a surreal experience, not exactly terrifying but spooky enough to make you look and listen twice
Random fact but in certain types of meditation in order to get better hearing you close your eyes and imagine your ears getting bigger and bigger until your nothing but a giant pair ears and nothing else.
It's also a natural instinct + developed skill, sharp movement is unnatural in the woods, therefore you move very slowly when something presents itself
It's often hard to tell a deer step from a human step, you never know...And even a mouse sounds amplified in the woods...But monsters aren't real scary when you have the ol' pez dispenser
I'll never forget being in the theater, watching Annihilation, and hearing this soundtrack play. The rumbling in my chest as this sound played paired with the visuals was crazy.
im so used to skin walkers being edited calls of deers. theyre always described as sounding off and this is honestly my favorite take. its clearly saying help but its the tone of voice that betrays it. plus the way it skittered made it perfectly uncanny. by far the best skinwalker ive seen
the vid is based on the skinwalker lore from gemini home entertainment analog horror rather than the traditional folklore one, in that the skinwalkers are just one version of a much deadlier phenomen, being refered to as "natures mockery" and wood crawler, as its a kind of arachnid like creature thats turning people into skinwalkers or fake people iirc, id give it a watch
The voices is what will keep me from going into a forest. The idea of something luring by pretending to be someone in need is terrifying. Somehow it's scarier to me when it doesn't flawlessly mimic someone. Either a call being said in half a breathe, the cadence and emphasis being greatly mismatched and that it uses the exact same samples, like it's only heard 3 screams but it keeps repeating those three exactly every time. God, that's scaring me thinking about it.
@@tomas.a1356I watched a clip last night of someone traipsing around the forest at night alone with a flashlight. He hears a branch break and cuts the light off. An eerie voice says “I see you!” In the distance. It was probably fake but still gave me the Willie’s!
I love this story and i love physical monsters in horror. I hate when its an OP ghost or something because i want horror thats also fun and unrealistic and you can plot how you would survive! Also, have you ever noticed people in the comments of these videos will make up their own (claiming its real) stories about how they encountered the creature in the vid? Lmao
Holy god. That quick glance at his watch only to look back and see the thing crawl so fast set my fight or flight off and now there's constant shivers down my back. I think I'm in love with this movie!
You might also be interested in the ambience in the background! Check out the soundtrack for the movie, “Hereditary” the soundtrack itself is named, “brother and sister”
It’s chilling to hear that almost human voice, screaming for “help! Somebody!” but it’s motion isn’t even human. And at the end I actually got goosebumps when it cut before the skinwalker could come into the shot
@@josua3 you have to take into account it’s a short film, aswell as it’s not a action film, which brings me back to my first point, people who need action every 10 minutes aren’t gonna like this they need a action film.
Not sure if anyone noticed but in opening scene had filmscore from the movie, "Annihilation" and strangly enough- the creature in that movie also mimicked voices its heard to lure more victims. A truly terrifying movie.
Yes! I fell into a rabbit hole of the dogman encounters thing for a little, and couldn't help but correlate that movie. Especially the Brazilian werewolf on camera.
@@sethweddle5160the USA trains its military to make sure all such electrical gear is off so it doesn't alert any enemy or ones who might help the enemy. Even loose gear that can make noise should be secured so it doesn't make any noise.
The sound the guy yelling made while calling for help made all the hair on the back of my neck stand up. As soon as the kid heard it; saying "someone needs help" I was like "no... No they don't... Ignore that call!" I am genuinely terrified of skin walkers and this film had me on the edge of my seat
From the million stories i've read, adding an uncanny growly voice imitating the original one is always more terrifying, like a creature learning how to speak like you each time sounding more and more like you
Not going to lie, this film had built up so much suspense in me that when the grand daughter said “The boy is too skinny” I genuinely thought they were cannibals lol. I also appreciate the subtle details that not many other people seem to be talking about; like references to a “blast”, that the cities are unsafe, and so on. It adds interesting world building while not being explicit, adding to the unease as the audience doesn’t know what’s going on. Can’t wait for this to become a feature length film, because I am dead certain you’re going to get you’re filming. See you in theaters! :)
That's the way "world-building" is best implemented. The writer may well jot all the details down, but in the actual script just *alludes* to it. Adds to the realism; obvious exposition is not how people really talk.
Honestly the behind the scenes of that movie makes me love it even more. They used most of their money on location in London so they were stuck with home video cameras, YET they made one of the most influential zombie films of this era. Crazy stuff.
Will never forget that scene in the church when the zeds in a split second turn to face cillian Murphy from being in hibernation mode. The way they just looked (literally just looked, they didn't chase him right away) sent me back to my parents bedroom 😅 Also of note was the music in that scene. A weird slow guitar sounding theme. Unsettling af
This short was actually surprisingly good. A simple section of an obviously much larger story, yet reveals ALOT. Very well done. Leaves the viewer wanting more...which IS the job, no?
Saw this little film advertised on tiktok and couldn't resist! I love the concept of skinwalkers and would LOVE to see this movie made into a feature length film. The pacing is just about right too. Scary as shit, having not seen the full face or body of this thing.
The pacing is horrible nothing happened. Not scary at all and not suspenseful either. Huge waste of time. No climax, plot, or storyline. Sub-par acting and pretty terrible cinematography
The background scenery definitely seems like the kind of place a skinwalker would be. I love how things are implied but not explained, it makes things a lot more intriguing when you want to know about something
I know right? On one scene the world is perfectly described "Why is the north any better?" "Further away from the blast" And right there, we have a _why_ they are stuck in a situation like this, no 14 minute long explanation, just 2 sentences
I would love to see this as a full length movie. The writing is phenomenal. Watching these people try to survive in a post apocalyptic wasteland while a skinwalker’s running around in the forest is terrifying. Normally I wouldn’t think those 2 concepts would mix but this makes me want to theorize about the skinwalkers and their origins. The context clues when they talk about growing food and when he mentions “the blast” I’d like to believe that nuclear war broke out and the skinwalkers are a result of genetic mutation like Fallout or a paranormal anomaly like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. And hearing the screams it makes sends a chill down my spine. I love how you can only make out the word “help” as it’s other screams sound close to english but not quite. It makes it feel more like a creature than a person as does the way it runs on all fours. This short film is truly a masterpiece. Very well done
This is literally scarier than anything horror related I've seen in the last 5 years. The use of atmosphere, the rushing wind, the creaking of the tree's, and even when it's quiet, it all sets the tone for how amazing this could be as a feature length film, or even as a miniseries, that way you can really get into the meat of the show.
@gbeach85 I am actually a big fan of horror, been watching it all my life, but different things scare people in different ways, but it's all about what you prefer. For example, some people can watch the Grudge and aren't scared at all, while other people are terrified and pissing themselves. It's all about perspective and what works for the viewer. The horror genre of skin walkers just so happens to freak me out on a whole other level, so of course I would find this absolutely terrifying, and also amazing, considering that in the last 5 years most horror movies are about demons, ghosts, witches or zombies, none of which really scare me.
This is absolutely amazing. I especially like the use of the "Annihilation" soundtrack to pinpoint the same areas of 'safe' and 'not safe'. Watching the movie so many times, you get the same feeling of dread and existential horror. I truly hope that there is more to this, and they fledge this out into a full length film.
It’s crazy how every skinwalker caught on camera always says “somebody help” word for word not “help me pls” or just “help” it always has to be “somebody help” . The theory that it’s mimicking it’s last victim is crazy 😮
@@TheQuatch44 if you believe a person can shape shift then you need mental help. They are real but not what you people think it is. It’s just a normal person in a disguise which was used a very long time ago not anymore 😂😂
This was absolutely phenomenal. Not only the cinematography but the sound design and impeccable acting as well. Even the child was an extremely talented actor! What amazing work!!
Oh yeah you proved the concept works. The first scene in particular is bone chilling, and a movie or series that builds and expands on that tension would be amazing.
According to their lore, the further away they sound the closer they are and vice versa. So after it chased him the first time and it sounded far away it actually would’ve been much closer
I hate to break it to you but that lore only applies to wendigos, skin walkers are a completely different ideology and region. And the reason wendigos can do that is because they are mountain dwelling creatures that use acoustics to alter reality. A skin walker lives in the plains and other such areas, thus they alter reality through their own appearances.
I guess that makes sense, The goal is to get the victim closer, so from far away, It sounds close; making the person believe that they are nearby, and that they can easily find the source of screams; then the closer they get, they get more desperate to find the person so they keep running towards the source. Quite Genius of the skin walker if I do say so myself. But I'm assuming this would only work against Naive Kind-Hearted people, Most people nowadays would run "from" the screams.
@@maxwelleckelbarger2734 Yes Tik-Tik or manananggal. They have bat-like wings and when the flapping sounds of their wings sound far it is very close and vice versa. Never seen that tactic applied to a wendigo or skinwalker.
jesus christ that crawl made my heart drop and gave me goosebumps. exactly the kind of stuff that creeps me tf out. i genuinely havent had that in years watching scary stuff, thank you!
Yeah first time I had goosebumps watching a horror movie. Don't get me wrong, I get scared shytless when watching them. But this was the first time I got goosebumps. Fooking terrifying
This is genuinely one of the best short films i have ever watched. When i saw the thing running on all fours, i physically reacted and shouted "nope!" I seriously hope this becomes a full film.
I’m Really Impressed With The Attention To Detail With The “Voice” Of The Skin Walker As I Do Know In Folk Lore Is That The Closer It Sounds The Farther Away It Is But The Farther It Sounds The Closer It Is So When He Starts To Get Chased By It It Sounds Insanely Far..
Incredible sound design. I love how the hit at 1:57 isn't very loud, but since it's such a deep and low sound you feel it. It's not overly in your face. Small details like that make films like these fantastic.
About 4 years ago I went to visit my parents and younger brother. At the time they lived in one of the only houses that had been built in a new development. I stayed in a guest room downstairs. One night, after i had been staying there for almost one week I woke up around 2 a.m. and could not get back to sleep so I turned on the light on and sat with my back against a wall next to a window that had closed wooden shutters on the inside instead of blinds and began reading a book that I brought with me. Sometime soon after 3:00 a.m. I heard my brother's voice very loudly shout my name right outside the wall behind me. It was as if he was standing one foot away on the outside of the house on the other side of the wall I was sitting against. It sounded just like my brother. But, I knew my brother was upstairs in his room asleep. I had a surge of adrenaline and i completely froze. It was terrifying. I sat there frozen for about 10 minutes and then I heard my brother's voice shout my name again, right from the other side of the wall! This time i jumped and sprinted up the stairs to my brothers room. I opened the door to his room and he was there asleep in his bed. My brother has a disability and a very unique voice. The voice that I heard sounded just like his and it was very clearly and loudly saying my name. This was one of, if not the most scariest experience of my life and the only supernatural type event that I have ever experienced, and I swear to god that it is a true story. I think about that night a lot and I have no explanation for what I heard.
Bro, you should be ashamed of yourself, youre gonna scare people dude. It's all fun and games until someone starts saying it really happened to them. Then people start to believe. But, bro if you really heard that.... you are sick and you need to get help buddy.
Happened to me a few times in my life when I heard one of my parents faintly calling my name, usually when I was home alone. I live Europe where skinwalkers aren’t present, I guess I was just really tired and started hearing things, or maybe it was the supernatural
the fact that this is filmed in ireland where i live and there are pine woods and quarries exactly the same next to where i live makes this much more scary
This is spectacular. The aesthetic and feel, the acting, costuming, premise,....all of it. Original story for once too! This had a maturity to it that most directors dream of achieving and the pacing was perfect. I cant say enough. More please!
But nothing actually happened.. So ultimately what is the point of a film like this.. Usually a story has a beginning, middle, and end. The ending here falls flat unfortunately.
You probably need to watch a lot more films before stating things like that. Have you seen The Exorcist, The Shining, Psycho, Texas Chainsaw? If not, I highly recommend them.
the uncanny valley in evolutionary biology suggests that things which had a unsettling similarity but where vaguely 'wrong' was a very real threat to us at one point.
I mean there where other human species at one point, it might have been necessary to detect the slight change in appearance to "normal humans" in order to avoid them.
i think it’s mostly because our fear response comes from something being “wrong” or different than what we’re used to. given that we’re humans and knowing what a human looks like is so ingrained in us, a slightly “off” human does not agree with the brain at all.
i read somewhere that it was basically a way for our ancestors to tell dead people from the alive, since you'd want to avoid corpses as they would carry harmful bacteria and diseases
Birds can mimic humans and as we know there was a large period of time where birds were still quite big when we were just starting out so I can imagine it was probably that
This needs to be made into an actual franchise, The plot was brilliant, didnt feel rushed at all despite being 20 mins long, which in an of itself is impressive, atmosphere was set perfectly throughout the entire video, The screams in the beginning made me expect more throughout the video which never came until the end when I didnt expect them, reestablishing that plot point and setting those screams in stone perfectly
It has been so long since a film has actually made me afraid. Please for the love of god make more. I'm begging you! Joking aside this is genuinely such a good film, and the talent with the actors, the writing, the angles, the directing! If all of this just gets funded, then it will likely be one of the greatest shows to come out within the decade!
The way the skinwalker moved as it ran towards the protagonist just hit me with the same huge horrible feeling I had when I experienced something when I was younger. I decided to take a walk from my house to the local church... and it just so happened that this walk was at about 2-3 AM on a near-moonless night. I don't really know why exactly I went on that walk, but I suffer from agoraphobia hard and leaving the house when it's dark and nobody is around to see me is the only time I would ever consider it and this was the first time I had ever gone on a walk like that in a long, long time. I didn't bring a flashlight with me and I didn't want to have my phone's flash on the entire time I was walking, so I just had my phone out at max brightness to give me enough light to walk safely (enough) across roads to get to where I was going. My church is a bit over 2 miles away from where I live, so this is a decently long walk back and forth. On the way there, I get to about 15~ minutes in and suddenly see something large and light-colored dash out of the bushes on my right, silently sprint across the road, and then vanish into the dark bushes on my left almost immediately; my vision length was basically just how much light Chrome was giving me, so I didn't have much to work with, but it was far away enough for it to not have been any closer than 18-20 feet. It scared the shit out of me, but I quickly calmed myself and said "shit, must have been a deer" and kept walking. Less than 2 minutes later, my hair stood up and that other part of the brain had the thought "wait... a deer doesn't run like that." This was immediately followed by the thoughts of "are... deer supposed to be that same light-greyish color?" ... "Wasn't that more human-shaped running on all fours?" I have never been more fucking terrified in my life. I did still walk all the way to the church and back, but holy shit was I terrified the entire time. The reason I didn't go back at first was because the thought hit me of "well, if I turn around, I'll be turning my back on where it went..." and I sure as fuck didn't want that. I don't believe in any supernatural shit at all, but I, to this day, have no fucking idea what the hell that thing could have even been for it to have been that big, that color, that silent, and ran like that. I have never gone on any walks after that.
Sounds like a rake to me, cave/sewer dwellers. They come out at night to hunt / scavenge what they can. Something I believe has been kept under wraps and always will.
Jesus Christ....Just saw the vid of the Hollow tree, then read your posting and i am just terrified. mostly because I think I've seen something seriously weird before. I'm a retired soldier and I have been to Combat many times so the prospect of dying in the field, never bother me as much (although I always preferred to shoot them) but this shit that happened to me, had terrified me for 15 years plus... I was station in FT. Bragg back in 2008 and a few of us guys went Deer Hunting in W. Virginia like in the dead ass cold of November. I admit, I have never been hunting, so I made them promise, if I did get something, they will walk me through skinning, and all that good stuff (I was determined to make me some Deer Jerky). We were divided in two pairs, but always between sight of each other. sometime during the evening hours, I see a big ass Deer with a shit lot of antlers...I'm like Fuck yeah waited all damn day and now boom gonna bag me this fucker. I told "Michael" (not his real name) to look where it was and he paused and freaked the fuck out. All i heard him say was "Oh my lord save me". he was really frightened, and his face scared me... then I looked at the deer through the scope and I will swear on the life of my children, the fucking deer was kind of standing in two legs, like straight up and i don't know how like his front legs were like really long...that didn't make sense to me...and then the damn thing turned its head towards were we were.... I know it was getting darker and shit, but I know what i saw, I just didn't understand it. Out the blue, "Michael" took off running and he just yelled "RUN!! NOW, JUST FUCKIN RUN". I stood there for a sec, I was trying to understand why the fuck should i run from a deer, I even thought "oh man maybe they're fucking with my newbie ass"...but when i looked again through the scope "it" was gone...Like, not there, Gone!!! I think that's when panic kicked in and I bolted out of there following "Michael", and I'm telling you this guy was in a full sprint towards where we park the Truck, He was yelling to our other friends to GTFO and head to the truck. man we just ran and ran like Lucifer himself was behind us...."Michael" kept turning around and looking back, and I did too, but I didn't see shit...We got by the truck and he literally threw his shit, including his "mightier than thou" rifle and was screaming to get in and drive off. We all looked at each other and said fuck this and basically threw our gear in the back and drove to the Hotel. The entire drive back "Michael" was like in shock, mumbling to himself and saying some odd shit. I kept asking what the fuck just happened? He literally shouted at me to STFU and just to drive faster and that he was never going hunting again....we were really concerned, i had no idea why was he like that, because he was like the biggest Redneck hunter in the entire Post, i shit you not. (lots of deer heads and pics of all kinds of shit he hunted and mounted, you know the type). The other guys kept asking me what the hell happened, did we see a bear or something...but i didn't wanna talk about it while he was all messed up, freaking the fuck out... So we get back to the Hotel, and we were sharing the rooms like two rooms, 2 beds each and he told us we were all staying in together in one room or he was gonna get a UBER all the way to FT. Blevins in VA. He was in a full panic, so We all agreed and we stayed in the same room, and he had his shotgun on his hand aiming at the door the entire night, only slept on our drive home the next day. On our drive back while he was asleep, the guys asked me what the hell would scare "Michael" so bad, and i told them it was not a bear or anything, and what i saw... These two guys looked at each other and they told me "Deer's don't stand in two legs, let alone straight up, bro" literally no one could say what the fuck was that. Almost getting home, one of the guys was Googling shit and he said that Maybe he thought it was a WENDIGO....and "Michael" knew what it was when he saw it. we like looked at each other and I said lets change subjects...mainly cause i was starting to freak out again.... All i know is that months after that happened, after the holidays and all that, "Michael" was seeing counselors at the Medical center, mainly to deal with a traumatic even. I remember asking him once if he would talk about it and this guy gave me a dead look and told me never ever again asking him about that day. I am not gonna state that in fact I saw a damn WENDIGO....shit I had to look it up many times, trying to understand what I saw, what the hell happened that day, even trying to convince myself that maybe it was just my imagination....so no way I'm saying that's what it was....but what I am damn certain of is this... what I saw, what scared this guy worse I've ever seen before, ever, was definitely not a damn deer. I know this in my heart. Whatever it was, has me kept me spooked for years and keeping a gun next to me ever since. Oh and by the way, Never again I've been back in the woods...day or night...ever. Fuck the woods, I'm keeping my ass in the city.
@@Tricky561 Deer can stand on their hind legs and bucks do so fairly commonly. They’re also fast- that deer bolted, rather than “disappeared” from your eyesight. Sounds like Michael had a mental breakdown (hey, war will f you up) and the rest of you were taken along for the ride. It was a lucky day for that buck, though. It’s not the Wendigo or the deer in the woods you have to fear - it’s other people.
THAT WAS SO GOOD! Absolute masterpiece! Setting the pace with the field scene, keeping the audience on edge through the entire video, to pick the pace back up at the end? PLEASE get the funding!
This has a lot of potential. The setting and overall tone fits well with a concept like this. This would be a great film to really play with sound based tension. Solid proof of concept!
I need this to be a feature length film. I usually despise skinwalker stuff as it's so ridiculous how misinterpreted it becomes but this was done so well.
Seeing it at the start run/crawling like that with the music from annihilation on top of that had me freaked the fuck out, full body shivers. This is top notch. Deserves to be a series/full feature film, surprised it hasn’t been done on the concept of a skinwalker alone before. Its the stuff of nightmares.

Oh my lord this is one of the best concept films I’ve ever seen. I truly hope we’re blessed with a feature length film of this. It gave me shivers bro.
Annihilation is one of the few "horror" films that gave me absolute anxiety, and after seeing this film it was definitely due to its unsettling soundtrack. Nothing chilled my bones more than when that thing began running towards Kent. Well worth the watch.
As someone who has heard what I believe to be some form of ancient evil creature while I was camping one time, this made the hair on the back of my neck stand up. Very well done.
@tx3er68 it happened right when the sun was coming up we were camping by a creek in the woods by my parents house in south Alabama and the only way I can describe the sound is if you mixed a dog and a rooster. It sounded very unnatural and we noped out of there as soon as the sun was up enough to see
@@KELEVRA004 interesting. I've had an encounter while I was hunting in Central VA. I still cannot explain it. The sound it made and the way it moved through the woods. The leaves crunching under its whatever was not a gallop nor a 2 footed run. It was something else. As soon as it seemed like it was right behind my treestand my Dad called for me on the walkie talkie and pulled up to the right of me. I was shaken up for sure. Never hunted that stand again.
That opening scene is truly horrifying, it absolutely made my skin crawl. The man who did the screaming did a fantastic job of sounding eerie yet believable. I think the setting is a really neat idea for a folklore horror story. That said I think there are a few issues with this short that could be easily fixed when translating it to a full length version. The biggest issue, that I can see, is that the boy doesn't know about the Skinwalkers. He should absolutely know. Either because he lived through whatever tragedy befell the people in this world, or because the man would have told him. Either way, the man would have absolutely informed him of the dangers these creatures pose and how to avoid them if he is taking him out to scavenge. There is no reason to hide the knowledge of them, as hiding it will only get him and/or the boy killed. I think you have something here! I just think that the script needs someone to go through it and really iron out the rules of the creatures, the world and how people are able to live within it. Cohesion will make for a much more gratifying and strong standing narrative. Can't wait to see more of this. Thanks for sharing your art.
First of all, this is a masterpiece. I was on edge throughout the whole video. Secondly, one detail I find interesting is when the man mentions that moving north is worth trying because it is further from the blast and away from the city. I think this indicates that there was a nuclear war at some point prior to the events in the short film. The resulting nuclear winter most likely killed their crops, meaning that he and his son needed to scavenge abandoned buildings for food. This is probably why he wanted to move north too, since it is further from the center of the blast in the city; hence, what he meant when he said "further from the blast" (19:39) and "stay far away from the cities" (19:45).
Okay so this is actually a perfect example of the exact things in my nightmares. The first scare is actually genuinely what most of the nightmares I can remember look like. The utterly alien look they managed to give to an otherwise human passing creature is.....I have no words. I am DEEPLY shaken. I feel like giving the creature any more camera time would ruin it but this was horror perfection.
The whole point of a proof of concept for a movie is to leave the audience wanting so much more out of it.. this did an excellent job with leaving so many holes and possibilities to how the rest of the movie would go. LOVE IT!
My god, this was amazing. The acting, the set, the monsters themselves! The ending was the best part! It left with a cliff hanger! I want more! Can't wait for your next film!

Oh, I didn't know that. That's terrifying it's like the Predators or that bear creature from Annihilation.

None of the street dogs I see our skin walkers I give them food

Watching these people try to survive in a post apocalyptic wasteland while a skinwalker’s running around in the forest is terrifying. Normally I wouldn’t think those 2 concepts would mix but this makes me want to theorize about the skinwalkers and their origins.

The soundtrack is from "annihilation" movie on Netflix
Ok, that thing crawling towards the guy gave me chills, that rarely happens to me lol
The way the last scream gets increasingly louder from far in the distance to within 20 feet, i can only imagine how fast it was chasing them

@@SurfMastery-kz6je I think the idea was to create a narrative that will prequel something bigger.

Hominids have been genociding each other for thousands of years. Sapiens just won, and replaced all the other walking monkeys. It makes sense.

The scariest part in my opinion was when the kid was like"somebody needs your help" this gave me goosebumps
Honestly it would be a dream of mine to be in a movie like this, best concept I’ve probably ever seen
Less than 2 minutes later, my hair stood up and that other part of the brain had the thought "wait... a deer doesn't run like that."
This was immediately followed by the thoughts of "are... deer supposed to be that same light-greyish color?"
...
"Wasn't that more human-shaped running on all fours?"
I have never been more fucking terrified in my life.
@@hardtailharry6812dude the rake was a cryptid invented collaboratively on 4chan. Skinwalkers and Wendigos are actually from indigenous folklore
Coyote, maybe?

The cinematography was fantastic. The use of color to show the bleak atmosphere and not just relying on fixed camera positions shows real craft.

They have a gofundme for one in the description
Outstanding job on the scare factor to whomever made this. Especially in the end where you could blatantly hear the "help" getting louder.
This is probably why he wanted to move north too, since it is further from the center of the blast in the city; hence, what he meant when he said "further from the blast" (19:39) and "stay far away from the cities" (19:45).
there is also the burning sunlight at the start
Thank god, i didn't understand the plot at all
It's probably why they are all sick aswel, radiation poisoning
