  • Part one of cleaning up and installing new rubber seals on VW OG pop-out windows. Part two will be installing them after prepping the rear quarter window area.
    I decided NOT to replace the seal between the frame and the glass because they look good and don't leak. That is the tough one to fix. Check out this video from VW life on that process. • Harvest Beetle - Paint...

    Thanks, I found this useful. I have had my pop-outs for several years and plan to replace the seals once the weather improves. ✌️🙂

    Thanks, I just got a set of these for my daughters project. I was hoping that replacing the seals was easy. Thanks for demonstrating how easy it real is.

      It wasn't too bad. I like windex as a lubricant and it made it much easier. I never did the second part about actually putting them in the car :/

      Misunderstoodboygenius I bet you were shocked. I would’ve been also if I’ve come across those. They’re truly not cheap. They are a great addition.

    Restoration 101 - use the least abrasive method first...soap and water was a great choice. I just picked up a pair from ebay to restore for our '72 Super Beetle. Thanks for the idea of a brass wheel for those hinges. Did you do a part 2?

    • @Misunderstoodboygenius
      @Misunderstoodboygenius  2 года назад +1

      I never put together the part 2. I think my method of putting them in would have gotten too many jackass comments.

    Great vid!!! You mention doing a vid for part II for installing them in the car ... did you do one? Searched your vids and didn't see one.

    • @Misunderstoodboygenius
      @Misunderstoodboygenius  3 года назад

      I didn’t. I got some footage and lost some. Also was hard to actually get. The process is pretty straight forward and I found it easier to put on the hinges first, then attach them to the windows.

      @@Misunderstoodboygenius Ok thanks. Ive seen other vids on how to do it, I just wanted to see as many as I could to see the different experiences that everyone had with them before I attempt mine 👍

    • @Misunderstoodboygenius
      @Misunderstoodboygenius  4 года назад

      The inside seals were still good. Those are a lot harder. The guys at VW Life did one last year on replacing those seals. Check it out! ruclips.net/video/zp3IgihQ1HI/видео.html Oops. Looks like they didn't do the inner. I know I saw one somewhere...

    Did you do Part two on Pop Out Windows? I cannot find. Is it within another video? Thank you.

    • @Misunderstoodboygenius
      @Misunderstoodboygenius  3 года назад

      I didn’t. It’s pretty straight forward. I should just do a little recap video to show how they go in.

    Where's is part two ? Can't find it.

    • @Misunderstoodboygenius
      @Misunderstoodboygenius  2 года назад +1

      I finished putting those in, and lost all of the footage. All I have is after it was put in. Maybe I can put together a part two and just take them out and do it again, or one of them. Just to help people out. It’s really not hard at all, but when I get back on the Beetle maybe I can do that.
