Funny story about the Paddle Shifters. My boy has the same 2017 Jeep Limited as me. He was high one night and was messing around with the Uconnect. He put it into manual mode without realizing it. Next day he was stuck in 1st gear. Drove his jeep 30 miles to the Dealer to have it looked at. They had it for 3 days and couldn't figure out why it wouldn't shift. He told me about it and i asked him if he put it into manual drive. Had no idea what i was talking about so i showed him. Anyway he called the Dealer and asked them to check. Sure enough i was right. The Dealer and my boy are both dummies...lol
IF you're planning on a Jeep and live in the snow areas make sure you have the dealer swap the factory tires for real ICE and SNOW grade tires. They make a huge difference.
Yep. Too many people think that 4WD/AWD means they can drive through a foot of snow on all season tires that are half shot. If you want to get around in the snow and ice you need proper winter snow tires -- even if you have 4WD/AWD.
I purchased my first Grand Cherokee Laredo in 2000. When I parked it for the final time it had 315,025 miles on her. She wouldn't stay cranked. I can be driving and would slowly loose power. I took it to the dealer and other mechanics. No one could pin point the problem. I still have her parked in my yard. We had many years and miles together. I cannot and will not get rid of her. I am hoping she can still be fixed. I purchased another Laredo. I kept him for a few years and traded him for a new Limited. I lost my Limited in a accident where she got totalled. Now I am driving 4x4 Summit. He is nice. The way he move and makes me feel safe is amazing. There is nothing no one can tell me about the Grand Cherokee line to make me turn against it. The entire Grand Cherokee family is straight up gorgeous. If things go the way that I hope, will be purchasing the Hellcat in a year or so. I am just crazy about Grand Cherokee...
I had a limited with a 5.7 hemi an 18. Lots of power 390 lb off to work 360 horsepower. Downside horrible gas mileage and getting into the foot too much. Now I have a 20/20 limited x red velvet. It is the sport Hood. Panel shifters duels exhaust. Sport mode and command track two which is the dial with sand snow mud and Rock. I also have a panoramic roof. And all options except for the forward stopping. Got it for 43,000 out the door. And that includes the nicer rims and pirelli Verde tires. 🇺🇸🌞🤠
Love my 19 Grand Cherokee. I always have eco mode off cause it just feels like a smoother drive. Getting 21.0 average mpg. I have the 24valve 3.6 V6 and has plenty of get up and go.

I went from a 2019 altitude to a 2020 SRT. Once u go to an SRT man u will never look back. A lot more expensive maintnence and gas, but worth every penny. Side note the SRT division just got disbanded. So I would jump on one soon before the prices shoot up because they will no longer be making them soon. Cheers!
I bought a 17 Limited about a month ago. We had a 2007 Grand Cherokee Laredo for 11 years, so 10 model years of technology improvements takes some reading of the owner's manual. My wife thought the paddle shifters were radio volume . I went into the settings and disarmed them. We have never had a vehicle with paddle shifters, lol! Our 17 has the 8.4 u connect , but no navigation. I looked into adding it like the window sticker said, and it's $595 to add the navigation. I think I will get a Garmin and put it in the glove box in case we ever need navigation. We're also getting almost 22 mpg. I reset it when we bought it and I am happy with the mileage!
@@BJPLIFESTYLE Yes! I'm very happy. It's a 4x4 getting 4x2 mileage! My wife drives 2 lane highways, around 38 miles a day. It probably sees 60 mph at the most!
That black interior looks really good. i Have a 2019 summit. On my Unconnect system I have a tempered glass surface screen on it $15.00. The tempered glass looks sharp and vibrant bright. Makes everything look a lot nicer.
Currently have and love my 19 GC Altitude 3.6 V6. After 9 months I’d love to know what basic performance upgrades should I do. (nothing that will break the pockets extensively btw).

Gas v6 3.6 doesn't have good gas mileage at all , v8 will do about same mpg as that gutless v6 and v8 will be more fun to drive . If you after good fuel economy than you have to get a diesel version which will be much more fun than v6 gas and will give you from 22 to 30 mpg depending on traffic and way you drive , also diesel engine moves that car with out any effort, it is super quiet and 420 ft/lbs of torque makes this Jeep pretty quick and it goes uphill really easy. So if you don't want jeep which has nice MPG and reasonable acceleration you should go for eco diesel especially if you plan to use it for long distance trips. Full fuel tank which has 25 gallons capacity will provide you with over 700 miles of range. If you think that you will be ok with v6 gas ,you making a big mistake , gas v6 doesn't do it for this car it feels under powered but it only shows when you are going uphill and you are at 4000+ feet elevation, on the flat road and at the sea level it is ok but it will never be as good as diesel in power and fuel efficiency.even v8 is not as good as diesel. Yes v8 is faster but it doesn't feel like it does the job with out effort and it consumes gas in pretty large amounts especially on uphill climes and it looses power on high elevation unless it is super charged. I tested out 3 grand Cherokee jeeps with different engines which were v8 v6gas and Eco diesel and Eco diesel felt like a perfect one for this car especially on highway, car didn't feel like it weighs 6800 pounds and it is kinda hard to explain more precise what I meant by that . You should experience it yourself to understand better what I mean. But. There is only one drawback with diesel engine and it is a dpf with annoying regeneration cycle. Other than that it is a perfect combination.
The air suspension can encounter a few common issues, BUT they're not reason enough to make you avoid getting a model equipped with it. Obviously the air suspension has its perks, which I feel vastly outshine any of the downfalls one may encounter as the mileage piles up.

I just bought another Jeep Grand Cherokee 2018 Limited and have been driving it for 3 weeks and I love it. It’s an upgrade from my JGC 2006 that I drove for 10 years and still have it. Never had any major issues just normal wear and tear and usual changes like oil, brakes, tires, and a radiator. Other than that it’s been a great vehicle and just reached the 200K mark in mileage. I just wanted to give myself something newer and its a big difference in the upgrades technology but I’m enjoying my new Jeep. I do have a question regarding the buttons right below the Front console… what’s the best option in using those three buttons. One is an “A” the other a Econ, and third a slippery sigh type button.. any recommendations on when to use those features.. thanks

They hooked me up with the Mopar floor mats when I bought it! These ones: amzn.to/3puDak0 Definitely recommend them, they fit perfect and are really tough!!
Why do people put so much stock into what people, whom they don't really know, say on forums?? I Never understood that. If 100 people complain about something on forums about a vehicle that sold over 225,000 units, how many people do you think are completely satisfied with their SUV?? I have even seen some people decide to unload their vehicle and buy something else because 30 people complained about the transmission, the engine, or whatever.
I’ve got a 14 JGC Limited. Bought it new (150k miles now). But I’ve noticed in the last couple years it does hard shifts. Is there a reset that the dealership can do that you’ve heard of? Is that even possible. Like a software reset? Thanks
I just bought a2017 grand cherokee loredo with the paddle shifters and I really don't like them on my steering wheel. I have the small screen with no navigation which I really wanted. I'm looking into installing a large screen.
Really wants paddle shifters in a mid size suv with a v6? 🤔 🤷♂️ I've had paddle shifters in a 335i and GTI and hardly used them. You can use the shift knob to switch gears if really needed, but I only consistently used the paddles while doing autocross.
I just took my 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee in to get a headlight replaced and they charged me $250 for the part... ONE headlight. I took it to the same Jeep Dealership that I got it at. Anybody else experienced this? I asked the sales guy to explain it multiple times and he claims that this is the top of the line bulb and that is the one that was in there before.... any experience on this helps. I could not change it myself because it was on the Driver's side which you can't access because of the air filter (at least I can't- I dont have all the tools to take it out).
The install on them is a pain, but LED replacements can cost $150-250+ for good ones. If you have halogen it’s gonna be dealer cost + labor & if it’s HID they can be more expensive
I was looking at it in a positive way because it did not change the view drastically. Definitely considering the darker tint, I was leaning towards 50% at first. Any chance you can give a video clip of night driving inside and outside?

I have a 2014 Overland , 97000 miles. No issues yet with air suspension and I go off roading once a month
I’ve racked up 240,000 miles between two Grand Cherokees and no issues with air suspension .
And ,btw,QuadraDrive 2 is best four wheel drive system.
@@cmetravify what mpg are you getting?
For like 600 bucks you can get the aftermarket tesla screen for the jeep. I got one for mine and omg i love it
They're pretty cool but not sure I want to go aftermarket
I got 2019 Cherokee I love it! Sometimes the gas seems fast to me. I only had 2 half yr I wish can upgrade already mine pretty basic.
Very nice suv probably my favourite in terms of looks just wish it came with a better Engine
Get the Hemi
Tf did you blur out the mph for when speeding up? 😂
Have owned a 2005 with the 3.7, a 2005 with the 4.7, and a 2005 with the 5.7 Semi (don't ask), now I have a 2019 Trailhawk Semi / They all have been great!
Love that drive.. apparently we don’t really live that far from one another..all though I would have taken the left and gone across the water.. and there are some awesome walking trials across from the Water works. Great vids. I did learn some things on your vids I didn’t know mine had… 2016 Grand Cherokee.. mine does have the paddle shifters.. never use them.
😆😆 those roads are always nice either way you go for sure!!!
@@BJPLIFESTYLE I could use some help here. I have an RV. So I know how to release the transmission and get it into neutral so I can flat tow my 2016 JGC. But when it is released. I need the car off? Do I need the key inside the car as well? Wondering if the wheel will lock up? Wish I could put a way for you to directly contact me on here.. Or even meet up with you since we are not far so I get this right and not kill my trany. I am near that really popular ST. R church. Looking to flat tow soon.
One is an “A” the other a Econ, and third a slippery sigh type button.. any recommendations on when to use those features.. thanks
I love my 2018 Trailhawk. Not Braggin.. this is my 3rd Jeep// 2000 grand cherokee 340k miles 2003 Wrangler rubicon and now 2018 Grand. Keep the Videos Coming. Also I checked my spare tire and I have the Rattle also. Thought I had a broken shock
Chrysler's Pentastar 3.6 V6 is a Ward's best engine winner multiple years running, a modern fine engine combining good power and good fuel economy. It is the most reliable, the most durable, and the winner of the engines. Don't overlook it people.
Just picked up a 2017 with paddles today.
Nice! I might install some on mine
Just saw the night eagle! So want to buy it. Any comments?
My friend has the 2015 limited or limited x (I forget), and he has the snow, mud, sand options knob, why don’t you have It?
It’s an option on the Altitude
How about a video on the auto dimming mirror if you have it.
Never bought a jeep younger than model year 2004. That I-6 4.0 is too good.
I just bought a 2016 limited and it has paddle shifters .
I went from a 2.4 2016 GMC Terrain to a 3.6 2017 grand cherokee. Feels like i went from a go-cart track to Nascar. And it does have the paddle shifters.
Paddle shifters are fun even on the 3.6, too bad they got rid of them on the 2018 lol
@@BJPLIFESTYLE I have the 2018 Trailhawk and it still has the paddle shifters!
@@BJPLIFESTYLE You're missing a lot of stuff cause you have an altitude which is just a level up from a laredo
@@ls1ws6tata84 yup I agree. The biggest perk on the Altitude is its body style. Nice 20" rims and the black logo. Otherwise it is fairly basic
Paddle shifter comes in the 2016 also. And I love it
they come in 2014 and higher. it’s a trim option
I have a 2016 jgc limited 4x4 with paddle shifters
I love this ride. Intend on getting one someday
Good choice!
@tubasalldae congratulations
Wow, you are really a fast speaker. Lool. I am struggling here with my 2nd language
Slow down the video... 0.75
I talk as fast as this guy it’s an east coast thing
I got a 2015 summit 5.7 and the air suspension eliminates alot of the body roll
Hows the 5.7 on fuel?? Does your 2015 have the 5 speed transmission still?
@@thomaswilliams1327 i have de same but 2014, and 5.7 on fuel its good if u not going 0-60 in 6.5 seconds every time you stop 👌
It is irksome to have a trailhawk and not being able to say "stop going up and down everytime I stop and then drive more than 40mph." ha ha
@@thomaswilliams1327 I have a 15 summit 5.7 too and it gets 12.5mpg with eco mode on and normally acceleartion but that's really only with my city driving
Great vid dude, but paddle shifters are stupid.
Only if you don't know how to use them / don't have an exhaust setup!
I just bought a JGC Limited and your videos are solid! Good info! Keep up the hard work! You’ve got one subscriber from KY!
Appreciate the love!
I wish it was legal here to tint windshields. That looks nice
I just got a 2015 Grand Cherokee and it has the paddle shifters I don't see what the big deal of using them is you have one with an automatic transmission so with that you don't have to do anything
Are you really able to swap out the uconnect for the newer one? I would love to swap out the current one on my grand cherokee to a newer one..
Yeah, it's a bit of a process but it can be done. Look up the newer screen on google they have companies with everything you need
can you talk about Jeep cherokee 4 cylinder . i bought mine new , now it have 6000 mile and i checked the oil and it lost 2.5 quarts . brand new car , no leak. dealer it telling me this is normal. i am thinking about going after jeep a lot of people complain about this issue.
Unfortunately I don't know anything about the normal Cherokee, sorry!
I have a 2020 GC Altitude 3.6 V6 engine tons of fun to drive, been super mechanically sound, I went with the 3.6 to save fuel money. It's great although I kinda wish it had the 5.7L atleast.... their pentastar motor is powerful but.... Should had a V8🤑🤑
I feel like you have to just go all the way and get the v8 when you buy these lol Always want more.
My 2016 grand Cherokee has paddle shifters, so it’s not just the 2017.
I should clarify; it’s on the 2017 and previous years, after 2017 they took them out of the altitude for whatever reason
Best place to upgrade the info center to the 8.5 audio store or dealer
I have the same Jeep, this maybe a stupid question but lol it’s says 4x4 on the back latch so does that mean that it’s always on and if we do go to the snow will I still need chains ⛓️?
I have a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee diesel and It has paddle shifters and the upgraded Uconnect.
Lol no it doesn’t have the upgraded UConnect unless you put it in there yourself. It didn’t come out until 2018. It’s basically the only thing they have changed since 2014.
i have a 2015 summit v6 , my question is how come album artwork doesn't show up on the screen ??
I'm not 100% sure! Mine shows up fine through bluetooth or apple carplay
I have the same car and for whatever reason it only shows up for me when I use the iPod feature instead of the bluetooth
@@davidreed4175 nice bro! yes i noticed that when i tried using that option, i thought there might have been an issue with my vehicle.. but seems like its a Chrysler thing smh ;/
Hey Man I love your Jeep! I have a 2015 Overland, Actually Black rims and white color like yours, I'm looking forward to update the Exhaust, any recommendations,.? Also I used to lived in RI, actually moving back in summer time to RI again...
Nice man! I have an aFe Power cat-back on mine atm, decent sound with little to no drone!
How do you like it? I want a 2015 altitude but they do high. All of them.
Im in the market for buying a Grand Cherokee (used) But i here they give a ton of problems. Im looking to get a 2017 -2019 is there any problems i should look out for? Any into would be greatly appreciated
BJ if I buy an extra key fob from Amazon , do I need to have it programmed by the dealership?
I have the same JEEP as yours ....love it....but mine isn't quite so clean. With 2 shedding dogs mine looks furry!
Ahhh that has to be the worst to clean out of the seats lol
I have 2 husky’s so I can relate
Hah! 1 husky and 1 Lab....lots of hair!
I have an 2015 fully loaded I like it run good.Ed.
Minds came with the 2015 came with the paddle.
I want a 2015 altitude is it a good car? And very expensive
So if I'm looking at a 2017 jeep grand Cherokee summit it doesn't have the 8.4 uconnect? 🙄
I have a 2016 overland that has paddle shifters and I do not see the difference in the shift
Thats crazy about paddle shifters and 8.4 uconnect. I have a 2017 Grand Cherokee Limited and has both.
Yeah they updated the software on the 2018+ uconnect to have carplay and android auto + a more responsive screen and interface. They also removed the option of paddle shifters on the 2018 Altitudes unfortunately
@@BJPLIFESTYLE is it possible to get that software on the 2017 8.4?
what is the "app for phone" with i can change system settings and how to connect the app to the car please?
I am looking at a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 79,000 miles should I avoid it?
If it drives good and everything else checks out + the price is right you couldgo for it!
I have the 2017 grand cherokee and the 2 things I don't like are, the driver mirror with vent visor block your view of cars on the cross street and the raised dash over the instrument panel. Maybe I'm not talk enough at 5'7". Other than that I like it.
Tall enough not talk enough.
What happens if while driving at highway speeds and I touch/push the ignition start button? Will the car shut off?
That's a good question, and I kind of want to find out but..... not yet lol
I have 2018 Trailhawk white like yours it has the Air Ride and had to have it repaired twice. lucky warranty fixed it
What trim comes with red button
I think it's an SRT / Trackhawk thing
My 2016 has paddle shifters
i just got a 2017 jeep grand cherokee altitude with the same white black combo with the mudflaps and it has the paddle shifters and the 8.4 screen with nav and honestly i love it, its so clean and drives so smooth
Bro what my brake lights won’t cut off when the car not running like any other car does
Have you bought any aftermarket floor mats for it? If so what did you go with! I bought a 2018 grey Friday and dont know what I should get lol
They hooked me up with the Mopar floor mats when I bought it! These ones: amzn.to/3puDak0 Definitely recommend them, they fit perfect and are really tough!!
@@BJPLIFESTYLE Heck yeah man nice! Thanks a ton!
The trailhawk I am waiting on has the option for mopar mats. so I figured being I’m in the Midwest it was a needed option.
I completely agree. The internet can give you way too many opinions!
10:21 you mention that jolts do you mean when it shifts at lower gears?
It’s just harder more aggressive shifts in sport mode that make the jolts like that
Oh okay I thought you mentioned that on regular mode on lower shifts jolts on you
Look at 2012 overland would you recommend this year of the JGC
Keep your hands on the wheel in the snow
I’ve got a 14 JGC Limited. Bought it new (150k miles now). But I’ve noticed in the last couple years it does hard shifts. Is there a reset that the dealership can do that you’ve heard of? Is that even possible. Like a software reset? Thanks
How do stop the steering wheel from lifting & seat from sliding when the engine turns off and on?
Go into your settings and find the “easy exit” setting 🤙🏻
We going to the store with him?
Yes, please.
What trim is this? I want limited, limited X or overland
Altitude!
air ride not good for winter country for me i did the swap to normal sping
I just bought a2017 grand cherokee loredo with the paddle shifters and I really don't like them on my steering wheel. I have the small screen with no navigation which I really wanted. I'm looking into installing a large screen.
You’re supposed to be able to swap out the 2018+ 8.4 inch!
@@BJPLIFESTYLE Yes! Thanks. I'm just learning that tonight. I'm so excited. 😊
I have a 2014 with paddle shift and uconnect. So I guess they went downhill or you don't know how to buy a car with the options you want
2018 upgraded the uconnect to have apple carplay, but removed the option for paddle shifters on the altitude package 🙂
Found a 2012 overland JGC would you recommend this year and model?
Really wants paddle shifters in a mid size suv with a v6? 🤔 🤷♂️ I've had paddle shifters in a 335i and GTI and hardly used them. You can use the shift knob to switch gears if really needed, but I only consistently used the paddles while doing autocross.
Change your air filter bro!! K&N won’t disappoint
I own a 2012 Limited 3.0 diesel in Italy,I love it!
The diesel jeeps must be sick!
My jeep is saying HOOD OPEN but the hood is closed I need help
@@BJPLIFESTYLE idk about good ones last fit are pretty cheap and are probably the best
you could do it yourself.
@@MNY-ps1nz well I sold the car and got a new one so not anymore haha
Does the overland comes with sports mode?
my 2017 has it.
Random question.. is that the view with 35% front windshield tint?
Yeah that’s with the windshield tint! Obviously looks a bit different from the camera to your actual eyes but it’s not bad to see out of
I was looking at it in a positive way because it did not change the view drastically. Definitely considering the darker tint, I was leaning towards 50% at first. Any chance you can give a video clip of night driving inside and outside?
I have a day & night clip both before and after in my tint video! It’s really not bad I’d definitely recommend!!
@azzkicker88 nice! I have 5% on the back 1/2 and 18%on the front... you have any pictures of 50% on yours online?

I get 25 mpg on highway 4x4 trailhawk
That's pretty good!
I live in nyc and i been debating of getting a jeep grand cheroke. What year would you guy recommend??? I like the feeling of technology smooth ride
I love my 2018! It has carplay and a good uconnect system 👍🏻
Just bought one today at Manhattan jeep on 11th ave.. No hassles, no scams factory ordered because they didn't have exactly what I wanted.
The turning radius on these jeeps are key to parking and tight spots

Only the trail hawk for me so very hard to find
What year of used models would you recommend in 2021? I've always loved the Grand Cherokees and I'm looking to buy one once my college beater dies out. Budget is around 35k
2018+ for the upgraded unconnected for sure! You can get a 2018 for the 30-35k range with decent miles
I swear by jeep mine probably saved my life last week got hit at 55mph by a semi truck when he jumped across 3 lanes of traffic to exit and only did 5500 in damages it is being fixed I have a 2020 if I was in a small sedan outcome would’ve have been different

How'd you get the red push start button?
Pretty sure the paddle shifters are not a year thing but more of a trim thing. Think you need Trailhawk / Overland + for them.
Paddle shifters were no longer standard after 2017. Only available on SRT, TH, Summit
