    I bought this case YEARS ago and it's been sitting in my closet waiting for a mini-itx to go in. After this Black Friday, I'm finally ready, and am searching for builds, and I am absolutely howling at baby Linus.

    Whether an idea is "good" or "bad" really depends on the objective. For me a liquid cooled machine should be as silent as possible, which means more radiators = better so that I can use much lower RPM fans.

      This case is nice, hugely customizable, build quality is good, but could be better. All in all is awesome for watercooling, but don't expect it to be as small as you would expect.

    For me one of the most bad ass features on this m-ITX case is that you can bolt a 230mm fan as a front intake, the cooling options are fantastic.

    the bitfenix logos on most of their cases are magnetic. its actually really cool, allows you to paint the logo a different color, or remove the branding completely.

    If you pause the video when Linus shows the PSU bracket you can see 2 sets of mounting holes inside the case. That would allow you the one in the bottom of the case, 2 on the side panel and 2 more using those mounts giving you 5 total. Of course you can always just stick more drives on any available flat surface, no need for mounting holes.

  • @dexdexlab
    @dexdexlab 12 лет назад

    Yes it does. Dual GPU cards have a built-in SLI / CFX bridge, it means that GPU's are counted as one and not two.

  • @GzimTahiraj
    @GzimTahiraj 11 лет назад

    You can but some people did run into trouble because they kept the optical drive. If you aren't using a cd drive in the case then you will have no trouble at all. If you are then... you might want to take a step back and properly plan how things are going to go in.

  • @etaks99
    @etaks99 11 лет назад

    I have been subscribed to Dan's channel since he was building his first beast. You can water cool any case but that said, you don't really call a case a "water cooling case" unless it is intended for that purpose with large radiator capacity.

  • @therealjamesmartin
    @therealjamesmartin 11 лет назад

    Yes, there are two places one can be mounted in this case. You will lose the use of the 5.25" bay no matter where you mount the radiator though. This case has the potential to mount the 240mm radiator on the front or on the top, though you cannot fit two 240mm radiators inside without a case mod.

  • @TheBadBull
    @TheBadBull 12 лет назад

    When you undo the bottom 3.5" drive cage there is another TWO mounting spots for 2.5" drives, Which makes it able to have 5 2.5" drives without any drive cages installed.

  • @LinusTechTips

    The point of putting it on the outside is that you could install TWO dual radiators instead of ONE.

  • @starwarsfan76
    @starwarsfan76 12 лет назад

    This might just be the most ingenious case ever designed. It's a small form-factor but still allows for a full sized GPU, PSU, and CPU cooler. I really cannot find any downsides to this case.

  • @GzimTahiraj
    @GzimTahiraj 11 лет назад

    Actually, place the H100i inside, fans outside, use the extra long screws they use for 200 mm fans and you might just be able to fit the H100i inside the case. That's speculation though and I don't know if you have tried it either.

  • @DevesC007
    @DevesC007 12 лет назад

    You could make a really nice server with all the Hard drive places. Not to mention the twin 120mm fans you could put right in front, if you remove the 5.25" bay.

  • @KiwiHedgehog

    The handles are very sturdy and you can pick the case up by them. Go watch TTL's overview of the black Prodigy, he doesn't hold back on the handles and the case takes it like a champ.

    Linus, I really wanna see a performance liquid-cooled gaming PC in this. If I had the cash, I'd give it a go myself. This case makes ITX such an attractive option.

  • @kwrinn67226
    @kwrinn67226 12 лет назад

    if you are speaking of the asrock board, I would only assume that it would reset the multiplier for a 2500k as well. think about it. just look at the photos of that board and see how small the VRMs are. Those VRMs are what the cpu will rely on when overclocking. The asus board will be much more capable with it's 8+2phase power delivery, meaning (according to everything i have read, reviews and demos bla bla bla) this board offers the maximum overclock stability, rivaling even many xl-atx boards

    also, the 570 will fit easily. The example card Linus used was 12" long, the 570 i think is 10.7 (correct me if i am wrong). the nh-d14 (which i assume is what you meant) i am weary about. If i were you, I would spend a few more bucks and go for an all-in-one liquid cooler such as the h100 which, according the the bitfenix website and this video, will fit with ease. all i would do is use low-rpm high static pressure fans such as the noctua nf-f12. for MB, i'd go with the asus p8-p77i deluxe

    Joanne did also on the Newegg channel, what he forgot to mention was the SSD mounts behind the power supply if you remove the bottom HDD cage. Though he was in euphoria it seems in the video and didn't realize it at the time. You can fit a total of 5 SSD without any drive cages in the case. You might be able to fit 7 if you keep the bottom cage and somehow slip the SSD through the side e.e but that's complete speculation.

  • @zone12ish

    Excellent review, makes me want to buy one. As a mini-itx motherboard only has up to four sata ports and one card slot you'd need one of these to fit all those hard-drives: Addonics 5X1 Internal SATA Port Multiplier

    also on that same video by Ronsanut. at 23:53. you'll see how tight the spacing is between the bottom of such a rad system in relation to how closely it touches the removable 3-bay 3.5" storage drive sled system.

    Kinda funny how I was all "Please make a video on this product!" and later it came out on the day. There is so much more you can do with this case that's not mentioned. Like removing the botton hard drive cage making it possible to add a radiator in the front of the case. (A 200mm square rad looks amazing) and for non watercooling peeps you can easily add full tower heatsinks as big as a D-14 with its middle fan.
    Pre-ordered and my mind is stirring with ideas.

    Any motherboard which is branded as mini itx. Personally I'd recommend you go with a bigger atx or mini atx size motherboard and an atx case becasue itx motherboards tend to only support lower end components such as APUs or Intel Atoms, It's also good to get a spacious case to have room for graphics cards and water cooling if you choose to have such things.

    I can't wait to see what gets baked into this thing. I was thinking though, where would the pump and reservoir would be situated? I'm guessing the bottom cage could be removed and they could be easily mounted there using existing screw holes etc. I doubt many SSDs would be needed if this were used as a LAN PC anyway and you can just use a USB3 HDD for other media.
    I also like how the power buttons and I/O are on the side of the case implying that it's small enough to drop on the desk as well.

  • @kwrinn67226
    @kwrinn67226 12 лет назад

    I built a system for a customer with that very same asrock board. I put a 3770k, cooled by an h80 with a quiet noctua fan, a 64gb ssd for srt, and a reference design 7950 in it. It was a very respectable system, and the customer was very pleased, one problem though: overclocking. I was inable to get any stability past 1.3v, and whenever i changed the multiplier, it reset back to the stock. the only OC i could do is with the base clock, which i did not want to bother with. Would not recommend it

    I wasn't talking about getting 4 6850s, some people really want a lot of power in their case. The best GPU that will fit in a prodigy is a 690, with a normal case, it can fit 4 680s. Maybe some people want more than 16GB of RAM. And while these cases are great for LANs, they will never replace towers

    That would be a 240mm water cooler in the top or front of the case. You can use normal sized CPU coolers. It looks like a G4 Mac case. I use a Bluray drive from LG that also has firmware updated to be able to read Bluray and HD movie disc. Might have to spray paint my drive to make it match this case if I get the white one.

    i did watch the video. when you do sli you connect the monitor to only one GPU, therefore one slot would do. and if u removed the hard drive thing it would have space to add a second gpu, what i was worried about was the fan on the back, i think it would interrupt with the second GPU. and asking never hurts, you never know.

    i wasnt laughing, i just thought someone was trolling. anyway a radiator is something you use in watercooling, the coolent is pumped into the radiator, and the fins in the radiator help dissipate the heat, along with fans which blow it away. so i guess it is kind of like the fins on an air cooler only in a different place and are generally more efficient. i probably didnt explain it very very

    I think this will get the popularity Bitfenix wants from it if more ITX motherboards are available. At the moment, the choice is not that varied TBH, and the prices are quite high. I personally see Haswell as the point where more manufacturers will bring ITX motherboards, since Haswell CPU's will have the VRM integrated in the chip itself. At the moment though, I don't see them achieving high sales with this thing.

    It'll have to be removed, and due to it being a SFF case. I don't think a optical drive is really needed in the first place cause everyone can be done faster via USB 2.0 and 3.0.
