Seriously one of the best thought out cases for the price ive seen. Definitively using it in my water cooled build. (And yes you can remove the drive cages and support for them all the way to add more fans/radiators as needed)
Just bought the gloss black version of this case yesterday at my regional Microcenter. Gotta say, this looks amazing in person, even in the less desirable gloss finish. Totally a beast. Best case I've ever had, hands down. I'll definitely be keeping it for many years. :)
Great video. Forgot to mention that the top 5.25 bay is slightly recessed so that you can use the stealth facade so the front stays totally white. Also above the top 5.25 bay the slats there are removable for better airflow for the 3rd fan for your rad, also allows for the wider rads also. You can do a push/pull 360 rad on top by putting the rad inside the case with fans and you have 90mm clearance from top of the case to the top of the MB allowing 25mm fans on top.
That 8 pin extension is a nice touch. Especially with a case of this size. I've seen too many PSUs with a short 8 pin cable which is nuts in this day and age.
Great review, thanks! I bought the gloss/matt finish version and it looks even better in person. I love the functional design of this case. All of the other little attention to detail things make this case an even better value IMO.
Yes it can. I just got mine yesterday and put my rig in them. Itt fit the H100 in push-pull configuration. There is a small problem, though. The Rampage IV has some kind of a heatsink (not sure) on top of the CPU socket. It gets in the way of the fan cables to H100's fan controller. Other than that, it will still fit.
I landed here casually a few years lanter and still love the enthusiasm of Linus in this review. Between him and HWC they sold me this case. By the way, I'm still happy with it.
You forgot to mention that you can put in another 240 or 280mm rad in the floor if you remove the bottom HDD cage and sled. That make you be able to fit a 360mm rad in the top, a 240mm rad in the front, and a 240 mm rad in the floor. This is an awesome case.
It was fine. Sometimes UPS does not handle stuff correctly. I hope you love it, i love mine. I ordered max fans for the case, Not for air control, more for cosmetics, i like to have my hardware lit up.
@1HandTech I think the 240mm rad in the front and in the bottom will block each other, so only 1 of those 2 will be possible. But if you place the rad in the bottom, It's still possible to have the top HDD cage in place.
I love this case! I've never been much of an NZXT fan, but their latest offerings are fantastic. I think my next case is going to be in the Switch 810. Good review to BTW.
@stocker05 At 3:30 into the video Linus states that the radiator fit in the top and won't even take up any room inside the case. The rad is meant to fit in the interior with the fans up top. As i said, it would have to be a seriously thin rad to fit in that area. I don't even recall there being a triple radiator that thin.
Im sold... for some reason i love gimicky features in cmputr cases, espesially whan the case is high quality, toolbox things, vents the open and close, hard drive fans that tilt. I want this case
Nice case. Really like what NZXT has done here. I've owned both a Guardian 921 and a Lexa S but got rid of them due to lack of good water cooling support. I would definitely consider this as a replacement for my 800d although I'm probably not going to replace my case anytime soon.
@Toffer161 those fans pull the air through the intake, all the way to the inside (so 2 fans) coz he HDD cage restricts airflow. btw, HDDs heat up, but very little (fans are generally not required in a well ventilated case, unless have a large, like 20+ RAID array in some server chassis) and SSDs generate negligible heat.
also pci slots has a led light so there is 2, also the switch 810 will fit 360 radiator monster rad in push only an 60 mm push only, now a 360 rad 45 mm thick can do push & pull, an in the front can fit 240 60 mm or 80 mm rad, with 120 rad in the floor with out doing any modding at all, all these youtube channels say it does water cooling but never tells you witch rads fit an size but one guy an all the water coolers know who he is
Not everyone can buy premium cases and it adds almost 0% to the performance but this case looks amazing, all the good parts for a case in one. Great price for a futuristic looking case. I want one.
NZXT just gave us the best case on the market. it even Beat's the 800D and the Temjin TJ11. only thing i think this case is missing is a locked compartment in the buttom just like 800D and Temjin TJ11 have.
In the DF-85 Linus has said that there is not enough space for cable management space at the back due to the thickness of a 24 pin cable and he could not close it up so go with the NZXT Switch 810.
Pro tip for unboxing case boxes: put box on long side, cut open the bottom, put flaps to side, turn box so the open side is down, lift box from pc case and fully intact foam packing, enjoy.
Such a good one in both aesthetic and functionality and the price is not even $200! I'm looking forward for someone to make a video of a gaming rig with this case.
It just allows you to plug in 7 fans, instead of running molex cables to adapters and such, and in case your motherboard doesn't have 7 fan ports, it's just a fan adapter though, and runs at stock speeds.
Get the switch 810, the corsair is actually more expensive than the switch and is a mid tower. The switch 810 is full tower and will give you more room to upgrade and more flexibility to do what ever you want with your build and future builds.
@rupluttaja No AMD doesn't support PCI-e 3.0 yet, but PCI-e is backwards and forwards compatible, and no current or any time soon cards will use up the bandwidth of a 2.0 slot.
Oh yeah i love it, its so awesome, the case is a beast and looks clean. Also its super easy to install everything. People tell me its the coolest case they have seen. I myself have a black case with white lights.
Linus forgot to mention that you cab fit a 60mm thick 480 rad with push pull in the top because there is 90mm of room from the edge of the mobo to the top panel. And the that is not a fan controller it is a fan hub. Also the hot swap bay is vented. And there us a second led above the pci slots. Not only the i/o slot. Linus missed slot about this case. Best case I have ever seen.
slightly worried how the top shutters would hold up over time, seem like the weakness of that design but overall pretty snazy ... it seems to have everything how I'd like it compared to my current (thermaltake element v black) case while still being solid (steel rigidity) Although I tend to like to put my stuff on the ground so front usb is kinda lame, but slick
great case overall.. only a couple things i wish were different and this is nit picking... wish the fan "hub" was an actual controller but thats nothin big...a proper "basement" would have been nice.. just for tidyness and all...maybe a cover that doesnt have to be removed seperately for the hotswap drive.. a full drive sled with a front would be nice...and the final thing... less plastic and more screws.... i cant agree with linus enough on how bad rivets are... i want more screws
@Toffer161 SSDs don't heat up,HDDs I'm pretty sure don't heat up too much. My HDD is about 33 degree Celsius and my computer doesn't have the best cooling.
@wowhealz I bought the white version today from an NCIX competitor locally that expressly sells rams with a PM from another competitor, which I end up paying around $128 before tax.
i love the Phantom, though this one seems to be way more practical! i might actually give up the idea of getting a phantom and think about going for this one.
one of the best cases ive ever seen. the fan controller, supporting all those fans...and double sided velcro... that blew me away. i think nzxt hired the most annoying geek to tell them what and where should they put :)
@Yeremita I nearly had that problem too, but after much raging, I just managed to get it to reach, had to flip my PSU over so that the CPU output was closer to the motherboard-side of the case, lol.
I want this case so bad. I have the NZXT Tempest Evo which is nice but with large video cards it is hassle to swap out hard drives. The extension for the 8 pin is nice, I had to buy one for the Tempest.
Still using this in 2021, thanks to this review.
Seriously one of the best thought out cases for the price ive seen. Definitively using it in my water cooled build. (And yes you can remove the drive cages and support for them all the way to add more fans/radiators as needed)
Possibly the most information packed video of a case. Good job Linus!
this case is just phenomenal. very very pleasing features, so much room for customization. nice
I picked one up for my build. I do not regret it. it's massive and incredibly well built.
Man, I was sold on the 750D, but looking at this.. Man its feature packed and looks a lot more sturdy.
I was in the exact situation xD
:p now I've seen the Enthoo Primo I have changed my mind again.. haha
Just bought the gloss black version of this case yesterday at my regional Microcenter. Gotta say, this looks amazing in person, even in the less desirable gloss finish. Totally a beast. Best case I've ever had, hands down. I'll definitely be keeping it for many years. :)

Ordered this case today....i cannot wait. Also ordered my triple rad for the top and a 240 on the bottom
That 8 pin extension is a nice touch. Especially with a case of this size. I've seen too many PSUs with a short 8 pin cable which is nuts in this day and age.
bought this for myself for my birthday (yesterday) and it will be her in a few days! cant wait to swap and complete my system in this case!!!
Great review, thanks! I bought the gloss/matt finish version and it looks even better in person. I love the functional design of this case. All of the other little attention to detail things make this case an even better value IMO.

I realize you made this review some time ago but I really appreciate it! I believe I have decided on what my next case will be!
Same here
Joseph Oatman me three
Telamon xXx Me four
Me Five. Have been using it for months, amazing case
This is the first NZXT case that I have liked...I think they did a great job on this one
You forgot to mention that you can put in another 240 or 280mm rad in the floor if you remove the bottom HDD cage and sled. That make you be able to fit a 360mm rad in the top, a 240mm rad in the front, and a 240 mm rad in the floor. This is an awesome case.

Sold me with the integrated fan cooler on the back. What headache reliever that will be. Very Cool!!
Why do case boxes always look like they've seen combat?
It is usually due to shipping
The war of shipping is a terrible place.
I love this case! I've never been much of an NZXT fan, but their latest offerings are fantastic. I think my next case is going to be in the Switch 810. Good review to BTW.
Love to see you do an ultimate watercooling build in this.
I think this is the first case I actually want, I ussually chose a case just by price/look/airflow, but wow. I'm verry impressed.
@stocker05 At 3:30 into the video Linus states that the radiator fit in the top and won't even take up any room inside the case. The rad is meant to fit in the interior with the fans up top. Just got done building my PC with this case the other day. It's AMAZING!
And yes you can do a 240mm push/pull rad in the front with plenty of room for your pump
Nice case. Really like what NZXT has done here. I've owned both a Guardian 921 and a Lexa S but got rid of them due to lack of good water cooling support. I would definitely consider this as a replacement for my 800d although I'm probably not going to replace my case anytime soon.
I just ordered a Coolermaster HAF X yesterday, and now I find out that this exists! Oh well I'll stick with the HAF.
Great video Linus
That is a bad ass case, first one in awhile I have been interested in. Good video.
This case is nuts!
Thanks Linus, you just sold me on this one
Wow. What a nice case and the black one looks even better in my opinion.
Yes, yes, I was waiting for this review! Thanks for the video!

Wow this is one of the best cases since the 800D, I personally don't like the look of it but it's got some great features.
Not everyone can buy premium cases and it adds almost 0% to the performance but this case looks amazing, all the good parts for a case in one. Great price for a futuristic looking case. I want one.

wow this is the longest unboxing and the most complete Linus EVER done for a case 0.0
In the DF-85 Linus has said that there is not enough space for cable management space at the back due to the thickness of a 24 pin cable and he could not close it up so go with the NZXT Switch 810.
the case does let you have a massive 240 rad at the point as well. Great case
Your unboxings are the best dude.
Well, if you look closely, it's not completely blocked, that panel has a space at the sides for air intake for the fan.
I think if you buy that CPU single sleeved extension, that will run for at least 10-12$. Very nice case, tons of options.
@SphinxSuave Yep... just ordered a black one. WOOOO!
Pro tip for unboxing case boxes: put box on long side, cut open the bottom, put flaps to side, turn box so the open side is down, lift box from pc case and fully intact foam packing, enjoy.
definately getting this. looks perfect and its pretty cheap.
been looking for a full size tower with a side window
Such a good one in both aesthetic and functionality and the price is not even $200! I'm looking forward for someone to make a video of a gaming rig with this case.
That was a fast completed request ! Thanks a LOt!
It´s a good case - i have the black version running with a watercooling setup
this will be my next case, love the white and the fact that the inside is white
Yes it does support a 240mm rad in the top
Love the case just ordered one for my new 360+240 setup...Good review!
I got to admit NZXT did pretty well on this case Ive never liked any other cases from them before
It just allows you to plug in 7 fans, instead of running molex cables to adapters and such, and in case your motherboard doesn't have 7 fan ports, it's just a fan adapter though, and runs at stock speeds.
Got this case for $120! Great case, Gun metal colour looks so nice!
@EgyptUnderGroundArmy the build that he is working on is HIS rig unlike this case + he already managed to heavily mod his silverstone case
I'm very, very impressed by the features on this case! :D tempting.
Great video, great case. I think this case is a winner for my next build. Thanks Linus!
That's actually a pretty sick case.... I want one now.
Correct, you can get in push/pull also!
Oh yeah i love it, its so awesome, the case is a beast and looks clean. Also its super easy to install everything. People tell me its the coolest case they have seen. I myself have a black case with white lights.
I love it. the only problem with this baby is that is full towel
but, front another point of view it could be use a shoes storage.
Got this last week, awesome case is awesome!
almost ALMOST perfect except no dust filter for the top. this case has the best front/front butoom dust filter design so far.
brand name, features stuff like that also color obviously. they charge up the price for white cases in general
I love this case. I have it sitting right next to me and would definitely recommend it!
Yes it will fit easily.
kinus actually there are 2 led lights at the back of the case, the other one is lower for the pci gabs
SICK CASE ! Thanx for the review/overview
I have this case and a H100i and yep it fits perfectly you will have no trouble with it :)
Corsair needs to add some of these features when they update the 800D. I just spent hours modding my case to get my 240 rad in ad my dual bay res.
The top closable vents are also good for keeping dust out of the case while the PC is off...:)
@ATIGames You can buy it in black.
Best case I have ever seen.
i have this case i was wondering if there is a way to control the fan speed from that small connection at the back. 12:00
slightly worried how the top shutters would hold up over time, seem like the weakness of that design but overall pretty snazy ... it seems to have everything how I'd like it compared to my current (thermaltake element v black) case while still being solid (steel rigidity) Although I tend to like to put my stuff on the ground so front usb is kinda lame, but slick
I've had this case since 2012. It's the best. Too bad they don't make it anymore and the closest thing to is is corsairs 750d case.
I like all your videos that show everything again and thanks for that but would not be bad subtitles.
GREAT presentation Linus. as always, love your videos. :)
getting this for my next build. looks great.
i would go for the 820 myself. tad more money but looks a way better + toggle LEDs and Fan Controller
great case overall.. only a couple things i wish were different and this is nit picking... wish the fan "hub" was an actual controller but thats nothin big...a proper "basement" would have been nice.. just for tidyness and all...maybe a cover that doesnt have to be removed seperately for the hotswap drive.. a full drive sled with a front would be nice...and the final thing... less plastic and more screws.... i cant agree with linus enough on how bad rivets are... i want more screws
16 minutes of glory! PRAISE LINUS!
@Toffer161 SSDs don't heat up,HDDs I'm pretty sure don't heat up too much. My HDD is about 33 degree Celsius and my computer doesn't have the best cooling.
We've been waiting for you Viewer 305..
that LED feature near the I/O is good IMO
@wowhealz I bought the white version today from an NCIX competitor locally that expressly sells rams with a PM from another competitor, which I end up paying around $128 before tax.
i love the Phantom, though this one seems to be way more practical! i might actually give up the idea of getting a phantom and think about going for this one.
Finally! Linus Unboxes an NZXT Case.
one of the best cases ive ever seen. the fan controller, supporting all those fans...and double sided velcro... that blew me away. i think nzxt hired the most annoying geek to tell them what and where should they put :)
Finally, A great review of this case that I'm investing in, Yes!!!!
@TheGenesisfreak if you mean he's never done nzxt before, he's done the Phantom.
so if silence was one's primary concern, would you recommend a 60mm push or 45 push-pull?
you forgot to show that if you take the bottom sled for the hard drive cage you can install a dual rad on the bottom.
