A tip for anyone regarding the button placement: If you ant them on the other side it is definetely possible to swap the sidepanels. The buttons will be upside down but if this really bothers you you can fix it by removing the front panel pcb and flipping the button.
I don't think the point was to show that you should use a 1000 watts PSU with that case, but rather explain that there is not enough space to fit a 160mm deep PSU. There are 460 watts PSU out there (or other wattage) that are 160mm deep, so I think it was a good thing he mentioned they would not fit. Again, excellent and thorough review ! Good job Dmitry !
Great review, and an honest one. For the people who are complaining about why should this case need to support longer PSU is simple: Clearance for the cables... even a normal lenght power supply will be really tight if it isn't modular. It is not about fitting a 1000w power supply, is about clearance, the case is not that small.
Well i got this case for my build. It is a very nice looking case and it has all the features you need, the only problem is that there miht be a lot of cables in the way because it's kinda har with cable management because you can't hide the cables as good as in a bigger case. Everything fitted perfectly and i don't regret buying it! If you aren't sure if you want to buy, don't hesitate, it is a really good case and you won't be disappointed, so just buy it!
- With the mounting options for 230mm or dual 120mm fans there is little space in the front and with the mesh front in the black edition it would need an extra frame and would disturb airflow.
Well, it's a matter of your taste and how you want to use it. I like it for the following reasons: - This Case is small and stylish. It might be used for LAN-Partys where you want to show it off by putting it on the table. Then simply place it to your left and you are fine. - I like to place my PC in a way that allows for an easy acces of rear connections and "front" panel. This way it is easy to do.
People people relax! We use the 1000W PSU as part of our review setup...By no means an ITX system would require that much power (not usually at least), unless you want to run a mini-ITX nuclear plant :P But this also shows that a PSU bracket would be useful in this case!
The Prodigy itself is unusually large for an ITX chassis, so while it may not need a 1000W PSU, it should still support it! An easy fix a PSU bracket that extends to the back, not only does that allow a little more clearance for the cables at the front of the PSU, but also, in this case, a 180mm unit would fit!
Power buttons are fine on the side but the USB slots are not. A case like this is probably going to be in a somewhat confined area, which would make it a huge pain to plug in long USB sticks and even cables that aren't flexible.
I never use them. To be honest there are plenty of usb ports in the back that front/side usb ports are obsolete for me. I know it's an inconvenience, but the look is more minimal/clean. Plus you know I love that reach around from behind :)
No one is going to need to run anything over 600w in this case. I have the Asus Z77 I deluxe with a GTX 680 both overclocked running on a 600w in this case. That would even power it with a GTX690 in the system. The cable managment from the psu is very tight even with a modula psu but if you spend a little bit of time on it, it isnt to bad. The case itself is awsome and has so many options that you could spend a day just thinking about which way round you want to build your rig. And it looks cool
Same except ive got a custom wc loop cooling the i7 and the 690 lol its all cooled off one 240mm rad with only one fan on it cause the other was ramping up for some reason lol. I still unbelievably have decent temps
I think he used a 1000W PSU because they are usually longer than your 700-850W PSU. So if a 1000W PSU can fit in the case, you wouldnt have any problem using a smaller PSU. It's just there for size comparison.
Yeah. It's a great case. I am hoping to purchase a PC that's been put together by some dude with parts he had left over and some others that he bought. It uses this case. It has no OS installed (I'll have to install Ubuntu until I get me my Windows.) but it has an Intel Core i7 3770, 8GB of RAM and an R9 290. It's a good PC, a great PC and I will enjoy it very much. It'll really help my game-making career as a GT 330 isn't exactly the most powerful card. I'm sorry, I went off on a tangent, I'm just so exited. :D
There is no mITX, but they offer a microATX version of this case. www.amazon.co.uk/BitFenix-BFC-PRM-300-KKXSK-RP-Prodigy-Midnight-Black/dp/B00EKS9BQM/ref=sr_1_7?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1424541746&sr=1-7&keywords=bitfenix+prodigy
you are first review I saw that talks about the issue of front mesh white/black. One hint, quality controll is not what you think it is. Its a design thing about backplate and stand offs, not QC.
Thank you for the review. Even though I disagree with almost all of your "con" points. I just purchased the black version and it is completely perfect for my H100i water cooled CPU and Titan X Hybrid build. That is 360mm of radiators with the greatest of ease. Super easy to build in and at no point did I feel like it was going to fall over. Decent quality (as long as you don't compare it to a Case Labs case) and durable. The inputs on the side are a total non-issue and add to the uniqueness of the case imo. My 750w Silverstone psu fits just fine.
In your opinion.. Should mini itx cases have additional pair of USB 2.0 becos some mini itx mobo also have front IO USB 2.0 input connector but never used at all due to ceases design, now the psu gx 2 from cooler master has the feature to off mode charge your phones & tablet devices ... ?
All long PSUs are high Watt PSUs like 1000W+ which is way over kill all PSU that are less than 800W will fit, but you should not need anything more than 650W since you can only put in one GPU and that is the highest wattage any card system needs.
To me, I would rather get a bigger case with a similar form (Cooler Master Haf XB) that can fit more, is portable and has better airflow. Also, the 1000w psu isn't necessary, but why the hell not? He mostly used it for an example to show it wouldn't fit, anyway.
Because this case is fucking AWFUL. Everything about this case sucks. I would know since I bought a 2nd hand PC with this case included. The feet at the bottom broke off during transport despite the amount of padding and foam in the box. The PSU area is freakin' tiny and requires you to remove the entire thing if you want to plug anything. The case is fucking MASSIVE for Mini-ITX, yet they give you this piss weak little PSU area when fucking NCase M1 is like 1/3 the size yet 10X's easier to work with. And lets not even start with the retarded fan layout... A front intake fan that gets ZERO air because the vent strips do literally nothing, and not only that it's positioned directly behind the hard drive cages so even the miniscule amount of air that DOES somehow make it into the case is blown directly at a fucking hard drive... Holy fucking shit this case is AWFUL and everyone involved in the design should be launched into the sun. How is it possible for people that literally DESIGN CASES FOR A LIVING to mess up this bad. I mean, I get there's 2 versions of the case and the black version is far better for airflow, but in that case wouldn't you fucking move the front intake fan to the top or something so it can ACTUALLY DO SOMETHING?!
Can't tell you why they did it, but I used this case for over 4 years, and although the handles and feet feel flimsy, I got more and more daring every time I moved the thing. By the time I passed it on to a friend and upgraded, I was slinging that thing around by the handles without a care in the world.
Such an uneducated comment. Don't hate on people who do the reviews for you. Respect the reviews. I like they reviews, saw a couple of them already. Instantly subscribed! Keep up the reviews and ignore the ignorant haters.
Why are the front panel connectors on the side a big deal? The case is small enough to fit on most desks, and if you can't reach the power button or a USB port on the side there is a bigger problem than the placement.
Thank you for the input: 1.) The difference in esthetics is MINOR. Whether it makes a huge difference in performance is subjective, which i pointed out! 2.) Again, we use the 1000W PSU as part of our review system, no need to hate. 3.) You are WRONG! 4.) Handles should not cause alarm for weakness (which i mentioned) but problem with sliding and wobbling is something worth mentioning! 5.) Oh uh, I didnt realize my English was improper. Perhaps it's something YOU should improve!
You need to keep in mind one size doesn't fit all when it comes to pc builds. Throw a 650w pus in there and it'd fit just fine. Honestly, if I were bitfenix, I'd be a little mad about that, since reviews mean alot
I don't think you've visited a watercooling retailer anytime since the inception. Radiator sizes are measured in increments of 120 or 140 denoting the size. e.g. 120/240/360/480, 140/280/420. Until logic does not escape your grasp, stop commenting.
Giving it a negative point for lack of PSU space is missing the point of the case. It's like knocking a microATX case for not being able to fit an EATX motherboard. It can fit most standard ATX PSUs just fine, which is already pretty fantastic for a miniITX case. You won't be running more than one GPU in this thing, so anything over 600W is pretty much unnecessary.
I usually really like HC reviews but this one wasn't very good in my opinion. The handles are flexible to avoid breaking, optical drives are pretty much a thing of the past, the side panel connections are actually really good for some configurations and you didn't put as much effort to show off its cooling and cable sorting potential as some other reviews... Also, if you don't use components that are fit for a build (1000W PSU for a 160mm enclosure?) don't blame it on the hardware.
I am not 100% positive, but I don't think anyone make a mini ITX case with THREE slots. So, I can hardly hold that against them. As for the PSU being too long, well, you knew you had an over-sized PSU to begin with, so also not a case fault. I am with you on the location of the inputs, as they ARE referred to "front panel inputs" for a reason..
Nice =) i love that.... maybe i will buy a smaller new build than ATX... That is ''reasonably portable''? WAIT! Till you see my colossal BitFenix Colossus its FRICKIN HUGE full tower case.
A tip for anyone regarding the button placement: If you ant them on the other side it is definetely possible to swap the sidepanels. The buttons will be upside down but if this really bothers you you can fix it by removing the front panel pcb and flipping the button.

This case is pretty old, but still I chose to buy it, as there is still not enough competition in this ITX price range.
Great review, and an honest one. For the people who are complaining about why should this case need to support longer PSU is simple: Clearance for the cables... even a normal lenght power supply will be really tight if it isn't modular. It is not about fitting a 1000w power supply, is about clearance, the case is not that small.
Dont worry, your reviews are the most reliable/ un-biased around. Only ones I can 100% trust
Well i got this case for my build. Honestly I like that the front is clean and has no usb ports or power buttons.
- With the mounting options for 230mm or dual 120mm fans there is little space in the front and with the mesh front in the black edition it would need an extra frame and would disturb airflow.
my 1000W psu fits fine
I always come to you when looking for a new case. Best case reviews on the web!
Well, it's a matter of your taste and how you want to use it. I like it for the following reasons:

I think you did a good job Dmitry. You covered all my questions and reaffirmed the fact that I want this case!
People people relax! We use the 1000W PSU as part of our review setup...By no means an ITX system would require that much power (not usually at least), unless you want to run a mini-ITX nuclear plant :P But this also shows that a PSU bracket would be useful in this case!

Clearly you are right! Dmitry is Russian.
The case is designed that you can swap the sidedoors, see that little cutout on the left door for the pci brackets? Look at the other door ;)
Hello, I want to buy this case and want to know if the wobble can make the case fall on its sides?
I really wish they could cover the side panel mesh with a dust filter. My MSI GTX 670 PE sucks in lots of dust and spreads it over the entire chasis.
No one is going to need to run anything over 600w in this case. I have the Asus Z77 I deluxe with a GTX 680 both overclocked running on a 600w in this case. That would even power it with a GTX690 in the system. The cable managment from the psu is very tight even with a modula psu but if you spend a little bit of time on it, it isnt to bad. saw some builds with GTX690 and watercooling in it. that case is insane.
can the CORSAIR CXM series CX750M 750W fit in there?
Same except ive got a custom wc loop cooling the i7 and the 690 lol its all cooled off one 240mm rad with only one fan on it cause the other was ramping up for some reason lol. I still unbelievably have decent temps
what software is used @ 0:35 to display the size measurements while the case is spinning?
Hey thanks for the compliment! Always will bring on the critical side, and thats how we do it! :D
I think he used a 1000W PSU because they are usually longer than your 700-850W PSU. So if a 1000W PSU can fit in the case, you wouldnt have any problem using a smaller PSU.
It's just there for size comparison.
personally I love the side power buttons and usb ports. It's a cleaner look and I think that position is appropriate.
really thin to build a miniatx-gaming pc in this case. would you recommend the prodegy for a gameing rig?(excuse my english)
Sigh, if only they made AM3+ mITX
This.
Yeah. It's a great case. I am hoping to purchase a PC that's been put together by some dude with parts he had left over and some others that he bought. It uses this case. Hey, why don't you guy do a review on the Azza genesis 9000, i hear that is was a good case but haven't see any good review on that case yet.
you are first review I saw that talks about the issue of front mesh white/black. One hint, quality controll is not what you think it is. Its a design thing about backplate and stand offs, not QC.
Can i intall an micro atx with that case?
Can you remove the front panel?
you can remove the bay to install the fans
Thank you for the review. Even though I disagree with almost all of your "con" points. but it wobbles.
I would love an micro-atx more high end-ish version of this
I think the newer ones also have SSD mounts on that sidepanel
will a radiator along with fans fit alongside a 970, when using a closed loop solution? (mounting rad to the top or front).
if not what kind of cpu coolers will fit inside? assuming fans at top and rear are installed.
+you0are0rank Well a corsair h100i will fit inside. and I speak from fact. Look at my build if you want. ca.pcpartpicker.com/b/cvhMnQ
dude good reviews. your videos are high quality clear and very nice. just subscribed and thank you for your good reviews.
Glad you enjoy, check the rest of our reviews too :D:D
Ignore the trolls and keep your good work ,I subbed you 2-3 years ago since this was a small channel .
does the rear 120mm fan come with the case?
In your opinion.. Should mini itx cases have additional pair of USB 2.0 becos some mini itx mobo also have front IO USB 2.0 input connector but never used at all due to ceases design, now the psu gx 2 from cooler master has the feature to off mode charge your phones & tablet devices ... ?

Would this be easily watercooled, whitout any complex mods?
does it also fit micro itx motherboards or only mini itx
Not to mention the cables connected to the side panel. I started building computers to get away from annoyances like that.
Can you fit a 3.5mm drive in the optical drive slot without modding in any way?
Yes.
There are screw holes on the bottom of the bracket that you can mount the drive to.
Answer doesn't need to be obvious. It could be made for mini-itx and still a atx could fit inside.
To me, I would rather get a bigger case with a similar form (Cooler Master Haf XB) that can fit more, is portable and has better airflow. Also, the 1000w psu isn't necessary, but why the hell not? He mostly used it for an example to show it wouldn't fit, anyway.
Maybe on this small case, but if you run 4 GTX 680, you will need more than 1000w psu
Very thorough review, nicely done.
wish they made a larger all alu case
need more room for gpus
Why in gods name would the bottom feet be flexible??
Josh yup, looks quite stupid
Because this case is fucking AWFUL. Everything about this case sucks. I would know since I bought a 2nd hand PC with this case included. PSU area is fine for most PSU's. You're not going to need anything more than 550W PSU for this case.
@@Pyroteq thanks man

does a fullsize ATX fit inside?

yes, ive been waiting for HardwareCanucks review for this.
is it good to keep th r9 nano and i5 6500 cool...how is the dust control
and should i choose nzxt s340...for better airlflow
+Uzamaki Naruto the dust control is decent, and sicne the r9 nano is tiny, it would look odd in the s340
So i cant install my SSD without taking out the bottom hard disk bracket? I have a hard disk as well as an SSD. ;/
Thank you for the input:

Ahah oh God, that PSU partially outside made me laugh.. 1200w man!how do you think it could fit in?!
Have about new Prodigy M review?
It has the same layout of the phenom m
It wobbles and I have a 3.5" and a 2.5" HDD. is there a risk of damaging my drives?
Ues mine blew up because of that. You have to put them where the CPU cooler goes, your CPU dowsn't even need colling anyways. -_-
any chance you guys can look at the prodigy M?
I second this
can it removed top handle??
really like the video editing
Honestly, why would you try to fit a triple slot GPU in a case that obviously only supports 2 slots?
looks like a cute miniature Mac Pro. :P
I don't think you've visited a watercooling retailer anytime since the inception. Radiator sizes are measured in increments of 120 or 140 denoting the size. e.g. 120/240/360/480, 140/280/420. Until logic does not escape your grasp, stop commenting.

yes even titan would fit if you take the top hard drive cage off
1000w on an itx?
Best review in all youtube
It looks like a Mac Pro.
rrrandommman a mini mac pro
Why move the front panel connectors to the front, who lies their cases of their sides anyways...
I simply love that case!
Why the hell not put a 1000w in this case? Just shows what it can do for a small case.
pretty cool case.
i guess they are gonna go SLI in mini format...
I thought these handles were made of metal..
I am with you on the location of the inputs, as they ARE referred to "front panel inputs" for a reason..
but you can even put liquid cooling in it
oke.. thank you for that quick answer!
Love It !
Not a very good review! Your 1000W PSU and triple slot GPU are ridiculously oversized for a mITX build.
Why would you even try to put a 1000w pay in a mini-itx case? Making it look bad for no reason...
It looks like a miniature Power Mac G5/Mac Pro.
Nice =) i love that.... maybe i will buy a smaller new build than ATX...
That is ''reasonably portable''? WAIT! Till you see my colossal BitFenix Colossus its FRICKIN HUGE full tower case.
He probably put in what he had lying around.
Okay okay. BUT Who puts a 1000w ps in an itx build -_-
I concede that based on jargon I made an error referring to a card as a GPU but there is no need to be nasty about it.
And clearly Canadian ;)
1000w PSU in an mITX case? more than enough is too much..
One does not simply put a 1000w PSU ina n ITX case.
Maybe they just had it laying around.
