The chess24 Legends of Chess is the 4th stage of the $1 million Magnus Carlsen Chess Tour and features Magnus Carlsen and his predecessors as World Champion Vishy Anand and Vladimir Kramnik. It consists of two stages, a 10-player preliminary, where each player plays each other once, followed by a knockout among the top 4. Prelim ties are played as 4-game rapid matches, while knockout ties are the best of 3 such matches. The prize fund is $150,000, with $45,000 for first place, while the winner also qualifies for the $300,000 Grand Final.
The time control is 15 minutes for all moves with a 10-second increment from move 1. The winner of a preliminary tie decided in rapid games gets 3 points. If the score is 2:2 an Armageddon game is played, where White has 5 minutes to Black's 4 but a draw counts as a win for Black. A winner in Armageddon gets 2 match points, while the loser gets 1. The knockout format is the same except before Armageddon there are two 5+3 blitz games. No draw offers are allowed before move 40. Official website: chess24.com/tour

Once when i was like 9 or smt Leko was at my chess club and gave lessons to us for like 2h. He showed us a complicated tactic puzzle which involved a queen sacrifice and even very strong players needed about half an hour to find the move sometimes iirc. After a few seconds i said the correct move (was a queen sac) and he thought i was some kind of prodigy. But i just didnt see that the queen could be taken there lmao
lmao that's dope
that's just beautiful
But when I do it, it’s called a blunder 🙄
Lol
🤣 Fantastic
everyone: what did ivanchuk mean by this move?????? what is he trying to do????
ivanchuks brain: damn bad move lol
we will never know if Be2 was a deep move or a finger-fehler
Maybe a mouse slip.
Chucky is easily one of the most likeable players among those currently playing.
@@ivantrevisanwippel8008 Ivanchuk=Chucky.
But he is retired now, isnt he?
@@radgos91 Yes, he became a Legend
Because he really pissed off Kasparov with a bananas knight sacrifice once.
I think nepo is the most fun to watch cause its always full attack and unpredictable
Magnus asked if Chucky won playing the king's gambit. And then he smiled and said "That's my boy" haha
Thats not right.. He asked if chuky won playing kings gambit

Thank you for increasing our vast knowledge

Chucky is amazing.....He kinda appreciates the beauty of innovation and "inaccurate" openings in chess and therefore, his games are always accompanied with CHESS AESTHETIC...
Chessthetic ;)
He's super creative. I watched his Banter Blitz and the way he calculates aloud is also frightening.
@@ryanflanagan9624
What the what!!!
Smiled the entire video watching King's gambit. Haven't felt as happy watching a chess video in a while.
His game should have been in the what is this sorcery videos. Amazing game. Totally showing what chess really is.
I think Agad overestimates how much we look at the thumbnail before watching his videos... We don't look at the position in the thumbnail Agad, we click the video as soon as we see it!
Same
Same
I am not looking to avoid spoilers
Same here...just saw the notification, instantly pressed the okay now button...
Yeah, I don't recall ever paying attention to the position in the thumbnail. And if I did I'd probably forget it by the time it happens in the game.
Being exchange down, ivanchuk gave up his piece!
*TAL MODE ON*

What happened to your little heart?
“e1 check” is here!
Queen to e1 check not Queen to ivanchuk 😂😂

@@Hilltycoon yeah true
@@ryanflanagan9624 bro I'm sure this is good and all but why did u comment here, on a chess video, of all places?
wtf
It's only ivanchuk who can get a morphy head, make an unusual move and a tal move in the Same game.
not morphy, zukertort!
"I don't understand this move" - Ah yes, welcome to playing against Ivanchuck. He loves playing moves that make no sense to get into his opponent's head
Not even chucky understands the move. But he does understand that his opponent understands it even less too.
Still showing these whippersnappers who's boss.
Well, my idea is that Chucky want's to: 1) to confuse opponent; 2) take some time to think. Qg4 is a threat and Be2 prevents that. When Chucky decided that this threat may be ignored and he has a winning attack, he moves Bd3 and allows Qg4 which Leko plays.
I think he wanted to give Leko the tempo so he could draw his queen out. And then he fucked him up. Haha

Me: Please please PLEASE capture on h6
Chucky: Captures on h6
Me: Yes! Yesss! (with a double fist pump)
It was either Rxh6 like Chucky played or I was also looking at Bxg5 hxg5 Qxg5 with Rh7 to follow.
This is one of the greatest displays of attacking that I've ever seen on your channel -- truly a modern masterpiece.
And one of my favorites, certainly. Thank you very much for showing this Tal/Morphy/Barnes/Ivanchuk brilliance, Agad!
Since I discovered your channel and became educated on the legends of chess, Ivanchuk has been my favorite player still living. Games like this one are a big reason why.
I love Chucky's games. He seems to truly have fun playing the game and messing with his opponents.
Ivanchuk and Leko are both legends
What a game! Simply beautiful!
I applaude this brilliancy by Mr. E1 check, truly is spectacular
Agad, I think you need to make a "morphy's head" playlist. All these morphyhead game have been amazing
It's great to see Ivanchuk on this channel again, and Leko too. Very beautiful game.
1. Queen to J10 and it is after this first move that we are no longer playing chess
That's doubly illegal so I guess two illegals make a legal
Two wrongs never make right
How about three lefts
@@JimmyJJJohnson This isn't Nascar...
Q to J10... After the flop ivanchuck is going for straight flush keeping a king hidden... Chucky can play to different games at the same time... He did it before

Hahahaha comment of the century. Cant stop laughing
Mornepin 😂
Mohammad Jubayer thanks 😂
I admit I was stumped on the last endgame winning move for Ivanchuk, and found the solution inspiringly clever and a good lesson in chess play
Me too, learned a lot.
I always forget how valuable pawns are in an end game.
Suggestion for next year's April fools: Show a game played back in the 1800s or 1900s but disguise it as a modern chess game played by 2 super GMs
😂😂
👍😂
He did exactly that!
So much better than what we get most of the time. Love ya, Chucky!
What an awesome game! Thank you for all your "pause the video" puzzles, Agadmator! So satisfying to get some of them.
Only Come here to hear "and at this position, we've entered a totally new game"...love his commentary
I was actually able to find the winning move
I read the news of Chuky winning and felt it was a warm turnover to 2020! And here Agadmator puts this title. Energies of the world are mysterious!
I love watching any great Ivanchuck game!
It feels so good when I see GMs turning Tal mode on. Makes me feel proud how Tal managed to create a completely new chess style which he owned at his time. Many GMs sacrifice pieces for advantages but Tal was in a league of his own. Absolutely heart warming!
Being exchange down, ivanchuk gave up his piece!

When I got to know Chucky is going play in this tournament,i was eagerly waiting for your video on Chucky's game ❤️❤️
this was one of the most enjoyable games ive seen in a while. what a treat
You're the best youtuber for me.. and thank you for the videos and bring me back to chess.. its been now 2 months i did only enjoying watching your videos
Chucky is amazing! He produces some of the most beautiful games!
That quote "when the chess game is over, the Pawn and the King go back to the same box" is from one of the best TV shows ever made - The Wire. Highly recommend watching
This was the best exhibition of the accumulated knowledge these two players have of pre-computer era chess. It's beutiful because it's super creative.
You would vault over 1 million subscribers if you did an interview with Ivanchuk! His chess moves combine the great skill of a seasoned master with the attacking enthusiasm of a beginner...
Thanks for uploading this at 3 am in the morning. Really appreciated it!
Yep. With the pandemic around, it just got a lil bit better with this.
3:06 "trade here" LOL
Chucky playing like Alpha Zero! Wow!
it's one of the best games played in the last few years, well done chucky!
Been watching a lot of your videos. Very nice information! Inspired me to put some chess videos on my own channel. Keep up the good work!
Chucky kept Leko off balance from the opening move and never let up. Not easy to find the best move for the entire game 😁
That Chuky ... he has no fear. Love the King's Gambit and have gotten lots of easy wins with it myself.
That was a fantastic game by ivanchuk. I love the king's gambit and was hyped it was used to win a top level must win game
Ivanchuk. One of the greatest underrated player
Just one awsome game play by one of my favorite players. Matter of fact such great awesomeness that i had to watch it twice

I really enjoyed this game its been long time I didn’t watch such a legendary game
Respect ✊🏼
Got to admit it’s getting better. A little better all the time!
This is fucking brilliant. I rarely make any comments on chess videos but I had to on this one. Vassily is insane on the board.
Ivanchuk : E4
Me : DRAW ??
iVANCHUK : LOL
ME : RESIGN 😂😂
Ivanchuk is always an amazing chess character.
Another great commentary. Thanks.
Amazing Ivanchuk!!!
What a game featuring my favorite opening👏🏿
Great tactics in a Blitz.
Always thought that Leko was everyone's punching bag but after seeing this game Leko allowed us to see some true Chess master pieces ... Thankyou Peter Leko
The way Ivanchuck slashed through this game, I think you should start awarding Chucky heads (from Child's Play).
When Magnus came to know that Ivanchuk won the game using kings gambit, he said "that's my boy".
Now That is officially one of my favourite games of all time
Real legends
Agadmator's new videos are the only notifications I take seriously
Capablanca, Botvinnik, Petrosian, Korchnoi, Fischer, Karpov, Kramnik, Carlsen at their best tournament...positional masterclass
Wild wild game! All hail Chucky the great! Need Chucky v/s Carlsen ASAP!!
Vasily is just the finest of all wines, which everyone wants to taste but no one can buy cause they are only served to the royal ones ❤️ cheers fellaaaasssss 🥳🥃
"The iconic "Morphy Head" I aspire to someday don that noggin." ~ M. Carlsen
that game was insane. And I cheered when you said Bishop check because I found that line!
One of my favorite players.
How about Ivanchuk's third game against Ding. what a brilliant game.
This game is really worthy of being on my list of top attacking games!
What a beautiful attack throughout the game
Be2 was probably an attempt to get black to waste a tempo by going back with Bg4 to my mind.
Also, I don't think we could call 7:12 a Tal move, it's less sacrificing a piece and more going all in on the attack when you've just blundered a piece. Qxg4 could be considered a Tal move, as there's no way to parry both Bxd1 and Qxe3 after that move, but there was no chance to save the piece in that position, opening lines and going for an all out attack is what you do in a position like that.
Thank you for this!
Agad.. Have you seen Chukys Banter blitz and QA???
Nice ending with a brilliant move !
”And here we have a nice photo of Mihail and Bobby, and Bobby starts with e6, so as of move 1, we have a kompletely new game..”
”Bly...!”
I think the quote above the board is from Cortana from the Halo Books!
6:03 Bd2 then Bh5 because he wants e5 then Qd3 then if black captures dark bishop , queen captures knight for checkmate
Love your vids keep goin man
"you of course know what I mean from the thumbnail"
Nope I saw a new Chucky video and clicked before looking any further.
Antonio, buddy you should consider using a Tal head also as this game from Chucky was surely closer to Tal's style than that of Morphy.
Will you cover some games from the ccc? So far Lc0 is dominating the field even against the new Stockfish NNC.
But we all know stockfish wins in the end
Alliestein just blew both Stockfish and Lc0 out of the water over at TCEC in cup 6
Yessss! Bd6! I am finally an excellent spotter of tactics in the endgame.
I thought the end should have been near at 3:42 when Chucky had all of his pieces pointed in the general direction of Leko's king ... but - nope - that fizzled, and then Chucky even threw away a knight, and came from behind. I really like his games - really unorthodox; how the heck does he do it ... his brain is wired different. Was he self-taught? Musicians who are self-taught think differently from those who are classically-trained, coming up with weird chords and structures and such, which still sound great.
AGAD Just I wanted To say to you Something. The quote mentioned in This Video Is an Italian Proverb. You can REmove The "Unknown" and Write Italian Proverb
1:37 I guess bishop g7 is to protect the rook as pawn on g5 will be captures by either bishop Or knight and if black recaptures with the pawn his rook would be hanging on h8
