Thank you so much Dave! as always great information! I'm defiantly thinking more on buying "Asset Doors" as you say. Hope you have a good day too brother
Good one Dave. I feel like you were literally talking about me! I jumped into the garage door business 10 years ago with minimal experience in the field and no experience running a business, and the first 5 or so years were hard in so many ways. The day to day business side of it is harder than the physical labor and often I questioned myself why i was doing it but im here to say, now 10 years in and with a great customer base established and good employees its been a huge blessing. I would encourage anyone looking to start a business, though, to take it slow and let the business grow at its own pace and keep the overhead low. Thanks for the great insights and keep up the good work.
Agreed in the matter of partnerships. Gonna be hard to find a good one. Five years into my biz I brought a partner in to lighten my load. He was an employee of mine. He bought in, then he thought he could just kick back and not do as much work as I was doing. Had to then buy him back out, especially after he came up short on all the funds he agreed to. That set my business back by a good two years.
Here’s a question I’ve got and has never really been fully answered. I’m going to turn 16 soon and I’m gonna be repairing doors and installing openers. My question is what is the best to charge and what tools are really handy and how should I arrange my regular pickup truck to be most efficient? I really have no clue if I need to insure it or not or how I should get openers (if I should buy them from Home Depot or try to get a liftmaster supply). If you got any pointers or what you think the upcharge should be starting out for opener installations and stuff I would appreciate having that. I will be running it solo at first
@@affordabledoorgatellc7391 hey man just saw the video. I really really appreciate you taking the time to make that. I tried to shoot you a email but it said it was invalid
I had a customer ask me to install one operator (Liftmaster LGO). On 2 - 9' X 8' with 3' hi- lift, I asked him why do you want to wear n tear on 2 doors when only using one at a time?

I’ve seen that before one operator running two doors. I’ve seen one door covering two openings crazy stuff out there.

Great point. I never could see the benefits of one opener on 2 doors.
