What a gift to receive in my inbox this morning - thank you! I am slowly working my way through the course (up to Video 22). I started it after a recommendation from a friend who suggested it to me while recovering after anxiety-induced self-harm put me in hospital in November. Together with internal family systems work, emotional release through massage and daily meditation, the course has been transformational for me. Thank you!

Where do you get internal family systems work and can you do it independent if the rest of the family? I’m asking because I engaged in psychotherapy for 15 years and whilst I have progressed greatly I still experience anxiety, ocd and procrastination. I’ve been diagnosed with complex post traumatic stress disorder by the psychiatrist. I was recommended to try massage but I avoided it!

@@madamdardis My trauma therapist provided the IFS. I don't quite understand what you mean by "rest of the family". If you mean your external biological family, IFS isn't directly related to that - it gets its name because the concept resembles classic family systems therapy but applied to you internally. Regarding massage, it wasn't the massage itself that helped me but what it revealed and taught me to do for myself. In my first session, the therapist started with my feet. It felt pleasant enough. Then my calf muscles - nothing special, not pleasant or unpleasant. This continued until we got to my quads. I started to feel uneasy and said that I'd rather be anywhere right now than here. The therapist had me gentle move my legs like I was pedaling a bike while pushing my feet against her outstretched hands. Things got very energetic and I started to vocalize. The therapist reminded me to breathe and continue kicking for about 30 seconds. Then she told me to stop and tell myself that I am safe and I am okay, and to look around an notice where I am. This cycle of movement followed by noticing safety happened twice more. The therapist said I could do this myself at home, too. And I did! The next morning, when I woke up, I started moving my legs very slowly and negative emotions started to come up. I started kicking and rolling from side to side and then vocalize really loud, primal grunts. I'd do this for a while, stop, remind myself I safe, and repeat. I did this everyday for a couple of weeks. Sometimes I do it sitting in a chair or whenever some anxiety started to come up. I had to put a towel over my mouth to muffle my sounds so that I wouldn't freak out the neighbors! The amount of energy I must have released boggles my mind. In one of my massage sessions, the therapist identified a place on my back that all she had to do was touch it lightly and I'd become a screaming 2-year-old writhing around. Eventually, I was able to connect the kicking/screaming to a specific traumatic event. I would imagine myself back in that event while kicking/screaming and then stop to remind myself that I am really in the present and safe. About 2 months after my first massage session, my anxiety and depression had pretty much gone. In the last month, I have noticed that in silent meditation, I actually feel joy which is something I have never felt before.

I'm not sure what question you are asking - if you might have PTSD my video 15 part 2 goes into a lot of detail that might help.

Hi John, I would like to share my big realization from today’s early morning. I strangely woke up at 2:50 something and my partner wasn’t in bed. I got up and went looking for her. No one on toilet or barhroom. Than as I walk back in the kitchen I found her lying face down on floor unconscious. I immedietly start to help her. What makes it more scary is as I lift her of the ground there was a pool of blood under her. Well why am I telekonference this story you might ask. I found out (again) that in stressful semmingly life threating situations me and my body are one calm individual who just does what needs to be done. Which is F- Ing awesome if you think about it I don’t have Any emotional distractions until everything is fine.
And jist for the record fiance is all right just got few stitches on her face that she got from the glass she fell on when she fainted.
I think this wouldn’t be possible if i didn’t took this course and didn’t do some work on my complex anxiety.
Thank you John much love from Czech Republic❤

I'm so happy your partner is OK! And well done to you for discovering that calmness allows you to function appropriately. It takes a lot of courage to transition from anxiety to calmness and I respect those who put the effort in to change. Best wishes John

What about ADHD people who are really handicaped by procrastination probably secondary to a Dopamine deficiency?

You seem to talk a lot about nature & programming but simultaneously disregard genetics, which I find a bit confusing?

I am a therapist/teacher, so I try to help people change (where possible). The way I see it is Genetics are what you are born with (so not much you can do about it) I am 5' 2" and bald (not much I can do about it!) Except I can change my attitude towards those and still love myself fully.
However, nurture and programming happen to you - therefore, can be unnurtured and un-programmed IF you are shown how and put in the effort to make it happen - and aligning with nature always seems to be a good thing.
I do talk a lot about genetics in other videos - especially Video 7, where I discuss in detail epigenetics, which explores what regulates/or expresses the genes within you - why some people's genes express to a certain disease and in another person it doesn't - in my course I teach how to understand this and regulate your mind/body as they are the number one influence of bad gene expression and this seems to be why those who worry and stress a lot seem to get more illness and disease - it is a fascinating topic.
Thank you for your question and for taking the time to watch my videos - much appreciated. John
