This band means so much to me, the band that your dad gets dewy eyed over and has 1000's of stories about, this is that band for me. I met my friends, had the best teenage years I could ever have with The Bouncing Souls as one of the bands playing the soundtrack. I still can't listen to True Believers without crying. Partly because back then I knew I'd listen to the lyrics like I do now, looking back at a youth lived perfectly how I wanted it, with people around me I love, but partly because I'm fucking glad I was lucky enough to have those years.
I've met some people along the way
Some of them split some of them stayed
Some of them walk some walk on by
I've got a few friends I'll love till I die
From all of these people I try to learn
Some of them shine some of them burn
Some of them rise some of them fall
For good or bad I've known them all
I feel really happy for you, i'm fifteen now and i hope i can say the same thing about these years when i grow older

Party, do dangerous shit, break the law, have sex with women or men or both. Trust me being young with your friends, those golden years of your late teens and very early 20's are going to be a blast, just make sure you put yourself out there and live the fuck out of it.

I came here from a live wire interview with Jay Weinberg, and have been listening to these guys and the Used. I’m a bit older than most on here (I expect) and this was a genre of music that passed me by. I love it and can see why it means so much to so many people in the comments! It feels to me to be an evolution of shoe gazer bands, but that might only be a connection in my brain and no one else’s.

I've always thought of them as the band that satisfies fans of all subgenres of punk rock somewhat.
This song and video are a perfect time capsule of what it was like to grow up in NY/NJ in the 2000's. Always makes me smile.

I saw these guys 22 years ago and they have always been a band that’s nothing short of amazing. Greg’s voice is awesome and I get a kick out of a punk front man who smiles and has a genuine happiness about him. Not common in the punk/Oi/Hardcore scenes

I love how, no matter how old I get, there will always be these pseudo-pedantic, nit-picky people arguing over what punk "means." Been happening since the 80s, and guess what? No one cares. It's a word - it symbolizes a broad music genre, as well as a style and a subculture. It has also always had political, social and reactionary overtones. What it means to YOU is subjective. And those who say "punk is dead" obviously just have no involvement with the modern, global DIY punk/hc community.

Only realized this was a cover after finding Avoid One Thing's 2002 album dumpster diving at the old Sandy location of Everyday Music in Portland Oregon. One time one of the workers came out but he was cool and just said not to try and sell them back stuff that had been thrown out.
