Great video! It happened to record and mono is there a way to separate the two receivers onto separate audio channels, or are they baked in to the footage for good?
They are baked into the footage I'm afraid so unless you recorded internally on the 2 transmitters you are stuck - unless you can find an AI tool to separate different people's voices in a mono track.
It’s not peaking but when I import to fcpx it’s super hot I can barely turn it down
You make a great job man. Thank you.
Thank so much! :) :)
How should I set up for a interview with 2 mics in use.. mono or stereo? Also what gain to set in camera, transmitter or receiver?.😮
2 mics, stereo (+internal backup recording just in case) gain depends on how loud the people talk etc. Be aware that you will get some bleed from person a into person b. I would also do as separate recording on an audio recorder or your phone as an extra backup. :) :)
I can’t get past setting up the language! Tried the touchscreen and button on to the right of the screen. Any tips?
Thanks Jason. Another great tutorial.
My pleasure - glad to help :)
Hi,
thanks for this video. I have one question for you. When I connect DJI Mic 1 to my Samsung phone via USB C and I want to play my recorded video (for my control) then the phone detects DJI mic as the headphones and I am not able to hear audio when video is playing.
Are you able to help me whether this can be solved somehow?
Thank you in advance for your respond.
I had a GoPro and 3 of their crappy adapters and MANY microphones. Could not get noise out of all the variations. I really want to produce content. Dropped some serious money on a full DJI setup. Just waiting on the microphones to ship from DJI. I can't wait. I've done some time lapse videos and quick clips with the action 3 and love the camera. Can't wait to get the microphones so I can get to creating. Really impressed with DJIs offerings. Next I will get a DJI drone.
That's great to hear - hope you love the mics and they give you more creative freedom like they have for me :)
Very good video. Gives everything I need - quick, short and sweet.
Thanks - glad is was helpful :)
Hello, what are the recommended transmitter and receiver gain settings for use with an iPhone?
There's no "right" settings - depends on how long the person is talking
Thank you so much Jason! that helps! I was wondering... do you think, I could plug my receiver directly into a speaker for a classroom to hear me?
Glad to help Jayne :) You could plug the out from the receiver into and amp/speaker for the class to hear you but you would probably run into problems with feedback where the mic picks up the sounds from the speaker and then creates a nasty sounding feedback loop.
@@JasonRobertsVideo that totally make sense! thanks again and have a good one
@@jayneveillette6693 Thanks Jayne :)
Good video but I m still unable to record audio from it with my Sony a7!!!
Thanks for this
No problem Peter - you're welcome :) :)
Grand rising. Thanks for this video. *QUESTIONS...
I own them, but I can't find any information online to see if I can have 3 microphones working at the same time with the receiver.
Do you know?
Thanks in advance. Have a great and productive day.
I don't believe that is possible I'm afraid.
Hi, this beginners guid was very helpful. But could you make a video on how to connect this DJI mic to the DJI mini 2 drone remote so I can record live audio when I fly my drone.
Thanks Rajiv - you should watch this: ruclips.net/video/1b8dCpdzKvQ/видео.html and this ruclips.net/video/T2-PoBm3pfU/видео.html - you can use the clap sync to snyc the audio from dji mic to drone remote screen recordings.
Very informative video. Just wanted to ask if we can record in stereo using single transmitter..?
it can still be operated in camera auto level mode ?
Hi jim - you could but it might not sound the best
Can you trigger recording from the receiver when not plugged into the camera?
Yes :)
Is your gain staging correct? Shouldnt the source closest to your mouth (TX) be the highest it can be with clipping the RX, and the lowest on the last chain (camera)...
The full process like you describe is in this vid: ruclips.net/video/feEXyWhiPLI/видео.html :)
Hi, great video but quick question on the receiver what I'm really struggling with... my mics only record to the mic themselves and the receiver when plugging into Mac has nothing on there? Both mics are showing up fine on the receiver and recording fine etc on the screen but just not transferring over to the receiver? What am I doing wrong??? Or do I have a dodgy receiver??? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
Hi Aaron - the receiver doesn't record audio - you need to connect the receiver to a camera with the audio cable - the audio then gets recorded by the camera in the video file.
@@JasonRobertsVideo thank you for clearing this up for me…
@@aaron.black107 No problem Aaron :)
what's the difference between the receiver volume and the camera volume? how do i set the receiver volume once i set the transmitter? i saw you set it +3 but i don't understand why. sorry for my english and thank you for this tutorial

Can anyone help me my DJI Mic is only recording through channel 1 on my Sony A6400 so there is no audio on one of the headphones when you listen to the video.
Any tips on the static noise I hear?
Hi I would recommend checking out this video ruclips.net/video/0kdaZw7KhAw/видео.html to see if you have the same kind of noise or if it is worse
Does this microphone work with the XA70 canon camera?
It should if it has a microphone input but I don't have one to test
can you switch the mic recording feature so that it record to the built in memory card by pressing a button from its receiver?
Yes - you can start/stop internal recording on the transmitters by using the screen on the receiver or the actual buttons on the transmitters.

my iphone is not reading the receptor, it worked one time (the iphone read the receptor as headphones) recorded perfectly. then no iphone is reading the receptor when i plug it and i can't record audio with the mic, the phone just thinks nothing is plugged and records as usual with normal mic. I tried pushing the lightning thing all the way as suggested in some videos but it doesn't work still. Any help?

Hi Raulo - I don't use it with an iPhone so I'm not sure - check the user manual here: dl.djicdn.com/downloads/DJI_Mic/DJI_Mic_User_Manual_v1.2_en.pdf and also the phone compatibility table here: dl.djicdn.com/downloads/DJI_Mic/20221221/DJI_Mic_Mobile_Phone_Compatibility_List_en.pdf Also note "Only supports Mono mode after connecting the receiver via the Lightning mobile phone "
Hello! Great video thank you! I’ve used this system with my Fuji X-T4. I’ve adjusted the external mic volume in the camera down until it’s safely out of the red and I’ve needed to turn down receiver gain to -8 to avoid clipping. Then, in Premiere Pro, I have to raise the audio track +6 decibels to keep dialogue around -12 on the audio monitor. When I export the video with audio, it’s SO quiet! Any tips??
Thanks! If the dialog sounds fine at -12 when you are editing in Premiere but when you export it it sounds really quiet then it's either an export setting problem or a possible bug in Premiere
How do you setup the safety track?
Check DJI Mic User Guide 2023 vid: ruclips.net/video/43cIQ8YKX8s/видео.html I go through all the settings.
This is excellent
Thanks so much! :)
Can this be plugged up to a speker
There is a headphone out on the receiver so you would have to make sure whatever yo plug it into can take that level of signal.
Does the receiver have to be plugged into a camera or recording device to record? Can you record just using the dji mic and receiver then later down load the recorded audio from the receiver to my computer or iPad for attaching it to video using iMovie?
Hi Ray - the receiver does not record into itself - but the transmitters do - the receiver needs to be plugged into a camera or something else to record
If you already have a video showing or explaining this can you attach? Meanwhile I will look on your channel to see if I can find one. Thank you
I have an entire playlist to learning DJI mic: ruclips.net/p/PLF3XxzX27iiI64p9tzQZULsJD1hI9IZRg
Great explanation ! thank you !!!

Do you have any idea how to change the file naming and date/time setup in the mics? Deciphering the file names is a major pain as there is no logic to the names...and my mics are somehow set on conflicting dates/times so matching clips in the download is a nightmare.
Hi, I haven't seen any way to change the file naming format I'm afraid. For the dates on the transmitters, try and connect both transmitters to the receiver and then go into the receiver settings and change the date - that might sync the same dates/times on both transmitters - let me know if it works! :)
interesting, I don't see a receiver gain on mine
Hi Jason I bought DJI wireless mic but it's not recording sound. It's showing sound waves on the receiver while in am speaking but there is no sound in video. I have tested it on iPhone xr, one plus and canon mach 2 but there is no sound in video but the receiver is picking up sound as sound waves r reflecting. Wot might be the issue. Plz help
Hi Ratnesh, if the receiver is showing sound bars then it is probably the audio cable that goes from the receiver to the camera or the mic volume setting in the camera set to zero. You should also check the receiver gain setting on the receiver to make sure it is not set very low. If you have tried direct connect to an iPhone using the lightening adapter and there is still no sound then you may have a faulty unit - try a different audio cable and check your camera settings and if it still does not work you should probably contact DJI support.
Hello ,it’s possible connecting 2 mic DJI? I bought 2 mic DJI but only 1 connect ,please help🙏🏻
They sould have come pre paired with the receiver if not you can follow the manually connect process and it should all be good. I don't remember the exact steps off the top of my head by it tells you how in the manual :) :)
@@JasonRobertsVideo Okay Thankyouu 🙏🏻
No worries :) :)
Thank you!!!!
You're so welcome! :) :)
can I record for myself from 2 transmitters at the same time.not with another person?
Yes
I lost my mic for DJI pocket 2, can I connect this mic (wireless connection) for that?
Not sure but I doubt it - they are designed to work with the DJI mic receiver (or internal recording on the transmitter)
Should the attenuator in the camera be turned off too?
Normally you are going to want to turn off any auto volume control/attenuation etc. :) :)
@@JasonRobertsVideo thanks!
Anyone else notice 95% of negative reviews/comments about the DJI Mic are just people mad it doesn't work that great with their iPhone? 🤣
Well seems they didn’t target the correct audience with this kit then, iPhone users are a huge market to not accommodate
life saver thank you!
Haha thanks so much :) :) Glad to help.
How can I connect it to my phone (Android)? Do i need a TRRS cable ?
I haven't done this so I can't comment, sorry.
Since audio preamps on cameras aren’t that great increasing the audio level would introduce more noise no? Don’t you want to increase the gain on the mics instead?
Yes and if you max out the receiver gain setting and you signal is still too low in camera then you would need to increase camera preamp gain (or try and raise it in post)
What if my camera doesn’t have a hot shoe? I have a canon g7x mark ii and I don’t know how to connect the mic to my camera
Hi Nadia, that's a great question - you could get a cage or l-bracket - this is for a mk iii smallrig.com/smallrig-cage-for-canon-g7x-mark-iii-ccc2422.html or an L bracket that has a cold shoe mount on it www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/4485685 you may need to screw in a cold shoe mount as a separate accessory - hope that's some help :)
Cuando grabo un video y estoy solamente yo ¿en que se graba: mono o estereo?
Internal recording on transmitters is always a mono file. Audio output from receiver can be set to Mono, Stereo, or Stereo with safety track.
Thank you so much!
You're welcome! No worries :) :)
I’ve bought this mic and I’m only a bit sad that there is some white noise while recording. Wonder if it’s fixable via software or if it’s there forever

I very like the fact it has a type c and lighting adapter , which why I'm leaning towards this over the Hollyland lark max even though the Lark max does look premium and does whatever the dji mic does, but the adapters jus makes a difference😢
I think you can also charge the transmitters and receivers via USB without needing the case - but I haven't tested it myself because the case is so convenient
@JasonRobertsVideo hey there, I was meaning as regards to attaching the receiver direct to the phone with a USB c or lightning port
Muchas gracias por este video! Muy puntual, descriptivo y útil.
Thanks :)
I’m gonna have to get used to turning this system on to record audio every time I turn on my camera. I need good audio of myself whether the camera is facing me or not though, so away we go.
Hi Eric - it would be nice to have auto power on as well as all these things: ruclips.net/video/BC9yV0hJ5Ro/видео.html I just make it habit to check level bars on receiver and in camera are moving before I hit record on the camera.
@@JasonRobertsVideo That would be nice. Especially in a pinch when you gotta hit record in the blink of an eye and have everything work perfectly. Like trying to capture wildlife or recording some significant event like a protest or impromptu speech or something.
I agree - my Rode VideoMic Pro+ has auto power on.
Surely you slide the receiver in with the screen facing you?
You can do forward or rear facing :)
Can these pic up an acoustic guitar?
Yes, though maybe not optimal - I'm not a recording sound engineer - they are omnidirectional mics so pick up sound from all around so you could get a lot of room echo etc.
@@JasonRobertsVideo sweet! Thank you! I'll buy em tonight then!
Cool - let me know how you go :) :)
@@JasonRobertsVideo they're great! Perfect for my collaborations with singers!
Can you setup a DJI Mic to a PA or Club audio system.
In theory - yes - though you would have to make sure the you convert and signals to mic level signals that the transmitters expect or you could damage them
Anyone know if it’s possible to add a 3rd mic?
I don't think so Hamza - you could possibly use a 3rd mic and just use the internal recording not the wireless

It seem like the DJI Mic cannot record stereo audio into the iPhone. If this is true it is a tragic flaw and I'm truly upset that I bought this system. Please tell me I'm wrong about this. Thank you.
I believe that is correct - to get stereo I think you haver to use an iPhone microphone cable/adapter and use the audio out cable from the DJI mic receiver.
Or the camera adapter with usb also fixes it
