Thank you for this Phillip! It even still sounded great with the noise reduction off right next to the tram and the building site!!! Your review also helped me see how insanely awesome the Osmo pocket 3 is in low light (esp compared to the iPhone). Cheers and good luck with your wedding :)
Thanks! I'm sure you'll love it, it's by far the most diverse mic I own in terms of connect-ability, meaning I need to just take this where ever I go and not really worry too much. I am enjoying making my kit smaller and smaller.
I think you mislabeled the lower thirds for the test with your OA5 Pro. It's amazing how much better the sound quality is when you connect via USB or 3.5mm compared to Bluetooth. Thx for taking the time to share your experience thus far.
Yes, you're totally right, I've been a little tired recently, thanks for the heads up! Yes, the solid connection makes quite the difference, but it's great we do have the option to use bluetooth if we need it.
I was happy with DJI Mic 2 Tx-1 Rx +case. Then along comes Mic 2, I have 1 transmitter with Pocket 3, so I kept toying with selling the Mic set, getting the Mic 2, just so everything was a happy family. I was right THERE. You know what happened next. Mini Mikes! I dont need the downsizing, but I like them! I don't NEED 32bit Float, but love the receiver with touch screen so much more than using a phone. You & I both know why. It goes back to the original DJI Mic. Say it with me: NO APP. Lol. I remember how impressed you were. Do you?
I love no app personally, I love manual controls, analogue, normal, human controls where I can feel what I'm touching. The Mic 2 is good, the Mic Mini is great, I love its size and audio quality. I have about 40 mics in my studio, most from Rode as they have the best sound, Shure is amazing, but DJI has really made some great strides with the Mic Mini, it'll be by my side all the time due to its tiny size.
Hi Phillip! THANKS for your effort and time to make this incredible video. I really appreciate that you mentioned what db you use on the receiver while you are recording. It’s really helpful. As I understand, you mainly use between -6 and +6. However, I need to set mine up to +12. Is that normal? How to project the voice to the mic or are there any tricks to position the mic? (I know it maybe a silly question, but if you have any tips, please share!) Thank you! Already subscribed! 👍
Well, no silly questions, shoot away. So, +12 is fine, it really depends on the camera and how far you have it away from your mouth (the closer, the better), and how you speak, my voice is quite loud, so +6 is usually a max for me or it'll distort. Luckily with the receiver we have the clipping control option which stops my voice distorting and clipping. Basically keep it close to your mouth, at the top of your clothes and generally make sure it doesn't go into the red if you don't have the auto-limitation option turned on (clipping control). You'll be fine. Thank You!
Iv’e just bought the Mic Mini’s to replace my Mic2’s for motovlogging as they fit inside my crash helmet a lot better. I uploaded a test to my channel where I found that they are much more sensitive than the Mic2’s. Even at -12dB gain they were clipping but the clipping control sorts it out. Great mics! Btw, you can also use voice control through the mics to start and stop recording remotely!😁
Brilliant mic, I bought one RX and the mic, perfect for moto vlogging but should have bought the kit, I’ll have to buy the charging box and an additional mic. I think the sound is very good. PS. Love the manual gain adjustment.
It's excellent, I agree. I think I'll pick up the white one with the tiny charger myself, and yes, the manual gain is like having manual AC controls in the car, love it!
I bought a single unit and really like it (I didn't buy the set because I already have a Mic 2 set and want the mini to replace a lav for solo vlogging).
Great video, I love mine, it's not the 'best' but it's best bang for the buck. Everything about this mic is pretty great but I disagree with the docking station. If you don't have the full combo with the charging case that dock can be an issue if you lose it or if it gets damaged especially when traveling. No way to charge the mic itself. I hope we see a non-dock charging like cable for it by DJI or aftermarket. I had the deadcat on while using it via bluetooth and didn't even noticed the 'other' LED for the noice cancellation and thought how do you know if it's in cancellation mode until I remove the deadcat and saw the LED lol.
"You're". No, I'm not. In stereo you're recording on two mics on two channels mixed together, in mono you're recording on two channels that are not mixed and you can later control in post individually.
Good video. I just got an Insta 360 x4. Its my first 360 camera.. and I'm hoping to use it for motorcycle videos. I'd like to get either the DJI mini or Mic 2 and connect via bluetooth. Do you think there's much difference between the two mics in this setting?
I think I saw you yesterday on Piotrkowska when you got out of the Żabka i was going to say Hi but u was to far away 😂 i love your CHANEL for years i hope we do somę Selfie NEXT time !
Great review! I’m very disappointed in the Bluetooth sound. I understand, it the sound was great they’d never sale the receiver and lightning connection to iPhone only users
Well, to be honest I find the bluetooth sound here to be a little clearer than in the Mic 2 funnily enough, it's a convenience, but if you want the best sound connect it via the receiver.
During 16:00 was the pocket3 set at auto exposure or was it set at manual exposure ? Instead of Bluetooth I like that there is now a receiver, instead of syncing audio in post. The vocals sound fine without the noise reduction. Dji would take the market if the future version2 mic mini would include 32bit float transmitter-recorder with the current price tag.
Did anyone find out how to use the iPhone native camera app with the Mic Mini over Bluetooth… or if any 3rd party app like BlackMagic can record in Apple Cinematic setting? Looking to use BT with the rear camera in Cinematic mode. THX for the great review, really appreciate all the lower-3rd notations which made it super easy to see the comparisons.
@@WillNewcomb Gosh knows, I haven't listened to them. I make my own videos, and have zero time to watch other RUclipsrs. This is basically me going out testing the mic on different cameras as you saw, not rocket science, just me and a mic.
Bit late to this one Phillip. Great review as always. Think this will be a great addition for my pocket 3. I’m in a drama group and used the 3 to film a recent short show using the native speaker. It was ok but think attaching this to the 3 will enhance the sound quality. Hope the wedding goes well and you all have the best day ever. Happy Christmas to you and the family and hope you have a successful new year.
Great Video Phillip - I just did a review of the Rode Micro and I think this mic might be better, but I don't know if I see the need to have this and the DJI Mic 2, seems redundant to me. Question, @7:41 in the video, which lens are you using on the ZVE1? Looks great
there's no auto level, so many reviewers (like him too) are selling the clipping control feature as an auto level (he calls it auto limit) feature, which it isn't, it isn't even a very efficient anti clipping feature, since clipping is slghtly minimized but no elimniated
For the automatic limiting to work I believe you need to have the receiver connected, via bluetooth you’d need to set your own safety levels, which isn’t hard really.
Excellent comparison using all those cameras. I bought recently the Pocket 3 but I already had the Fulaim X3 mics. I used them in my OA4 and IPhone 14 Pro and do the job pretty good so far. Question.. the DJI mic mini can be used in the Insta360 X4 by Bluetooth? Saludos desde Puerto Rico 🇵🇷.
I sent mine back. Seems no one addresses the issue that the Mic registers for phone calls only when connected to Android. Can't use Camera, WhatsApp, anything via Bluetooth.
@@PhillipSkraba Even on iPhones you need 3rd party apps to use the mic via Bluetooth. Camera app isn't possible. Plus the audio quality is terrible. We have 2024 and this should be no issue to transfer good audio quality outside of DJIs walled garden. So, no, I don't support this.
The only problem here is that ONLY DJI has the bluetooth audio option, which I don't understand. Surely Rode and Saramonic could add this feature to their microphones. The bluetooth audio is okay, nowhere near as clear as the audio when the receiver is connected, but it's good if you're using DJI gear.
Salutes from the States, Phillip! 🫡🇵🇱
Picked mine up on Sunday to connect to my action 5 pro without the receiver and I am well impressed with the audio quality
It’s a very good mic, I fully agree.
Can you clip the mic onto a baseball cap?
@@OLC_Fishing Sure you can, I clip it to the side of my cap.

Such an amazing review. Thank you. The receiver is definitely needed for the iPhone.

can you check why noise cancelling does not work on insta360 ace pro connected on Bluetooth?
can you turn around and still pick up, did i miss that?
The receiver usb-c plugs right into the OA5 usb slot without any mic adapter right? Noob question. It didnt work with the Insta360 x4.
Yes, it'll plug into the Action 5 Pro via the provided usb-c connection.
I'm struggling to connect the mic
It should work, but not with every app. Once connected on Apple, you have to choose what mic you’re using in each app.
When you were recording with the iPhone 16 Pro Max, where are you using the front or back camera?
I was using the front camera, so I could see myself.
@ Pretty good quality!
I just got the 16 Pro. Heck what an upgrade over the 13 Pro. The front camera on the 13 Pro is bad
