- In this video I cover everything you need to know about multi disc PS1 games in Garlic OS.
We will create m3u files to organize your multi disc games.
We cover how to swap discs in Garlic OS.
I also take a few minutes to look into why some people have extensions showing in Garlic OS. (.chd.chd or maybe .m3u.m3u)

I can really appreciate that your doing this as just before this video I went through so much research trying to figure out how to do this and having a video like this makes it way easier to understand. Thank you so much for this! I'm subscribing and looking forward to more tutorials!
This video is so valuable and helpful. I just had this issue a few months back and it was tricky to sort out. This video is SUPER helpful. Glad others don't have to deal wit hthe same as I did with this great guide.
dude you're literally a life saver i've been trying for weeks to get dragon warrior 7 to run on my garlic os and couldn't find any guides that worked for me no matter what i tried! but this was so easy to follow and included so many steps the others didn't, thank you!!!
Thank you so much, lunar and lunar 2 is one of my favorites growing up. Glad I am able to experience these games again.
Your advice to use copy and past turned out to be exceedingly useful as the entire issue with my .m3u file, as it turns out, was a typo. Without realizing it, I had alternated between the spelling "Disk" and "Disc", several times no less. Anyway, thank you for the video :D
You’re awesome, dude. Thank you. Best multi-disc tutorial yet.
Cue and bin guy myself... had the issue of all file names showing so the m3u method works wonders for that as well. Thanks!! Solid video!
Mine doesn’t work, is there anything specific you need to do with the cue file itself?
Never comment on videos, but this was such a perfect tutorial for something that there isn't a ton of in depth information on out there. Thank you!
Excellent video. The explanations are very clear, not everyone can achieve that. Thank you very much 👌🏼.
thanks for awesome guide! game list looks so much better now
Just a quick comment to say this was a really informative and helpful video! Thanks! :D
Dude you are amazing, thanks for your effort!
Thanks for the Video. Keep up the good work
Thank you for this! It really helped me out!
Thanks mate, this helped me out :)
thank you man, this really helped, liked and commented
Thank you so much for this!! 😊☺️
This was the definitive tutorial on this process. Clear steps and simple language for an absolute emulation noob such as myself. Tested this out with Resident Evil 2 and now I'm playing scenario B as Capcom intended 😁
Hey glad yours worked. May I know if you started with B scenario? I can't seem to swap the disc, it just freezes
@SlimDeryck No, I completed an A scenario first. When emulated correctly, the game functions as it does on the original console in that completing scenario A is a prerequisite. I would double check that you input the disc 2 code correctly in your m3u file ✌️
And you get a sub! Thanks for the content
thank you, very helpful, worth to subscribe
Sweet, thanks mate.😄
Thank you very much for a comment, I got stuck because I didn't realize that you have to change the \ to / if you use Windows, regards
Thank you for the tutorial.
Thanks for the video on this! All the text tutorials led me nowhere.
Thank you very much!
Dude, THANK YOU!!!
awesome thanks
I'd like to thank you for this. One other side effect here is that scraping becomes a bit of a pain as all the folders showed up and artwork scraping ended up downloading for each disk and the art was showing in the wrong folders as a result. I am on a handheld and ended up moving the actual CHD to a parallel folder in my case it was /roms/psx so I made a /roms/psx-multi and moved all my "multi-disk" CHD to that psx-multi folder and then updated the paths on the m3u files and now all the folders dont show up in emulationstation and it looks like one clean game list.
I did the same and it tidied up nicely. One thing I didn't realise is I needed an extra "\" in the m3u filepath so the system knew to look one file location previous, if that makes sense.
Hi Henry,
First of all finaly someone made a video for this, really appreciate what you have shared with us thanks. Second just want to ask if in garlic os you can show the image of the game? If it is possible can you make a video for that as well. Thank you so much and more power.
Game art is on my list of videos to make.
Thank you :)
If anyone is curious you can do the same on Mac if you use TextEdit and format it to a plain text file
Hey thank you so much for introducing me to m3u files and their use! I followed your process but for my RG353v using stock os. Using FF IX as an example, instead od having 4 duplicates i now have 5, assuming its now reading the m3u file as an additional entry now. I'd really appreciate any advice, maybe im wrong thinking this will work for other devices? Thank you!
Great tutorial! So after creating the m3u files and chd folder, did you transfer the fold and m3u file on the SD card? Or the m3u only? Just to clarify. Thank you!
How should it work with m3u only?
Very good hints, thanks a lot. But please let me ask one thing: What happened if instead of combining the files before start my gameplay i just start play directly disk 1 and at the end of the disk 1 it asks for disk 2? I mean, can i perform the actions of your video later and my save file will still work or if this steps are not performed i cannot continue the gameplay?
It's possible. I think that there is an option to browse for the next disc file. Not sure what that means for saves though.
In my case on the Anbernic RG35XX H with stock firmware it was enough to create the folder with all the files you showed and put everything in there, including .m3u and the game cover images (so when scrolling between games I see the images). By copying the .m3u file into the emulator ROMs folder, both the folder with games and the .m3u file appear which obviously cannot be started .
Thank you for your videos. You takling about nobody talk. May be you can make a video describing what emulators work properly on rg35xx with garlicos, couse I see so many console's folders for roms, but some of these works awful. For instance, I have tried Jaguar and it works very slow and 3do and msx doesn't work at all, also for segacd you should download bios files that actually lacks in garlic
Good call. It takes me some time to make these, but I have plans for a video about some of the more obscure emulators. MSX specifically since I had to take some time to get the MSX Metal Gear games working.
I fallowed this guide and had no problems! Thank you. My question is when swapping disc does it carry over save data or how does that work. The part in the video showing how to swap disc got me a little confused as to if you continue with your progress or what happens?
Yes, saves will move to the other disc. That's one of the benefits of the m3u file is it ties the saves to that file and not the individual disc. You should have no issues.
@@henrynox4244 ok awesome thank you so much!
Thx a lot. Does this work on Dreamcast too?
Hey dude, this was really helpful but I was playing on disc 2 and was able to save but when I died none of my save files for disc 2 were there and my last save file was the one from disc 1. Any ideas?
Will this same process work for Sega CD? Great videos, Thank you
Hey bro! Great guide and really easy to understand but I try to open the game on my 35xx and it just black screens and kicks me out :( any idea how to fix that?
Why does that Retroarch on the 35xx has a screenshot feature, but not the Miyoo Mini's Retroarch?
👍
do you need the m3u file to play multidisc games? or its just for organization? because I don't mind if I have multiple entries of the same game
They will work without the m3u file. However, the m3u file isn't just for organization, it also makes swapping discs simpler. I think swapping discs without the m3u means you need to browse the filesystem to find the disc file.
Would this work for single CD games with multiple bin files?
I try push the menu and x but cannot go to the change disc menu.. I don't know why... I already custom to garlic os already
Does (Rev 1) etc, need to be copied over? Most of these are working for me now, although I can't seem to get a multi disk with "(Rev 1)" in the title
Hi, thanks for the video!
Related to the RG35XX, Im triyng to organize and filter in some way my roms.
I tried to make a folder named for example "sports games" and put shortcuts to the roms that are located on the main folder, but didnt work.
Somebody have an idea of how can we organize the roms?
Thanks
Garlic OS unfortunately doesn't really let us organize roms. I think MiniUi has collections that might work for that, but I haven't tried MiniUI yet.
Hello, how can add ps1 games that have two files Cue and bin file
@henrynox4244 My game wont start with the m3u and sub-folder. It works fine without subfolder. Do you have an idea what I can try to do?
I watched one video about RG35XX AND NOW RUclips DOESNT LET ME
BREATH xD
The transition from 7:09, from your PC hard drive, to the Anbernic is confusing.
You didn't put anything onto the Anbernic console, it was just still on your computer hard drive, then you opened it on your Anbernic?
Did you drop the m3u file onto your Anbernic? There seems to be missing steps here?
Hey, I'm having difficulties playing RE2. Whenever I launch the game, it only launches the Disc 1 scenario. Is there a way to launch the game with disc 2? Thanks.
*sigh* I'm trying to add Skies of Arcadia (2 disks) on the Dreamcast emulator of Anbernic RG35XX but my console doesn't see the m3u file in the list :( So obviously i cannot even launch the game...I don't know what i'm doing wrong
Can this process be applied in RG353P?
Does this disc changing work on MinUi?
you save my life
Is it possible to do this on a Mac?
where u download those roms and bios. care to share link. and how about to add arcade game like mame with multiple file. same as .m3u file
I haven't worked with any multi file arcade games so I'm not sure about that. For bios and roms I would start by searching for "miyoo mini tiny best set" That set has a great collection of bios and rom files to start playing.
@@henrynox4244 ok tq man for reply
I did all exactly the same with final fantasy vii and it does not work, I really don't understand.
Will this work with Stock OS?
Does it also work for non garlic os units
Not sure about stock, but I think it works for Mini UI. Although, I haven't used Mini UI yet.
By the way do you need to change the file name to CHD
My favorite is that it’s completely offline!!
Not sure why my battery icon has 2 + symbols on garlic OS. Any idea to fix it? I have changed skins but still the same.
The plus symbols are for the overclock. Pressing Select in the main menu cycles through the over/under clock options.
@@henrynox4244 thank you so much, this clarifies. Also, your video helped me install skins and bootlogos.
Will this work on PS2 ?
Do you know why PS games run laggy with GarlicOS? I added the BIOS but still laggy.
I haven't had any issues with the PS1 running slow. You could try the overclock settings. In the Garlic OS menu, press the Select button to cycle the settings. Look at the battery icon and see the + or - icons show up. + is a slight overclock and ++ is max overclock. Make sure you don't have - or -- on the battery because those are underclock and will slow games down.
@@henrynox4244 I’ll check, thank you.
@@henrynox4244 They still running like crap. No difference.Sadly.
@@henrynox4244 I updated it to 1.3.8 and it runs them perfect.
It didn’t work for me I don’t know what I’m doing wrong
for some reason my game fails to load disc 2 here is what i copy pasta'd on my .m3u
Grandia/GrandiaCD1.chd
Grandia/GrandiaCD2.chd
it doesnt work AHHHH my rom FOlder name is Grandia and it doesnt load. HALP
/Grandia/GrandiaCD1.chd
/Grandia/GrandiaCD2.chd
Try this my man
Did you slow down your audio? Even playing at 2x speed, you seem to talk so slow 🐌 🥲 Good content though.
That's just how I talk. I think some of my friends will find this comment funny.
