Searched lots of videos and articles but this one is the best. No BS straight to the point step by step guide!
thanks.
Worked perfectly for a gamecube game I was having trouble with. All tutorials I found were so convoluted and annoying, just creating a M3U playlist was stupidly simple in comparison. Thanks!
Thanks ! Glad it helped.
So, in the m3u file i just have to put (for example) [path]/roms/gc-multidisk/Baten Kaitos (Disc 1).rvz and then on the next line: [path]/roms/gc-multidisk/Baten Kaitos (Disc 2).rvz and it will work ?
Wait wtf, how are you doing the same thing for GameCube? BS literally did the exact same thing as this and it doesn’t work. You have to do something different for dolphin
@@nanashi5139 That was a year ago, I don't even remember what I did lol
@@Cosmic-Bear. BRO IM SO SORRY SERIOUSLY! Just literally tried this out and it works. Now it works perfectly, literally like the video. Sorry bro again 🙏
Amazing videos and very clear. Thank you
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great videos. Please keep it up :)
Alternatively, if you don't want to have seperate folders for seperate systems outside of the system's rom folder, you can create a .hidden folder say, in the /psx/.hidden with all of your multi disk games in there. Having the . in front of a folder name makes it hidden and won't be picked up by emulators. So that all of your psx games are still under the psx folder, just in a hidden folder.
thanks, bro. that's a great tip to use a hidden folder.
thats just not true. there are no hidden files on linux, leading dot is just a convention, which emulators may choose to ignore, for example duckstation still scans dot-folders.
Have you tried it? Does it work?
So update, I did what you said but Emulationstation still detected it despite it being hidden/having the '.'. So what I did instead is that I moved the folder from the ROM folder and hid it outside instead.
Note for anyone out there playing *_Parasite Eve,_* (or has issues with other PS1 games) if you get the _"Wrong Disc"_ message when trying to play the second disc of PE try to (1) update your memory card settings to _"Shared Between All Games",_ (2) swap for PE Disc 2 multiple times in a row until Duckstation accepts Disc 2 of PE, (3) save your game on Disc 2, and (4) update the game's properties on Steam to reflect the pathway to the second disc so it starts on that disc from then on.
Also, if you want access to your previous saves for a particular game, just copy and paste the file containing the saves for your game in the saves directory and rename it to *"shared_card_1.mcd"* and have it overwrite the old one.
Thank you so MUCH ED4T! I was ready to give up. This was a great step by step tutorial. Not enough guides are this straightforward. Much appreciated!
When I start playing the multi-disc stuff I'll definitely be coming back to this vid! Thanks as always!
thanks, buddy you are always the best one here.
gonna give this a try today with ff9. thank you!
I succeeded creating a working M3U for Saturn games with Yabause. Yabause core in Retroarch didn't seem to like absolute paths like shown in this video.
The M3U file is consequently like this:
../saturn-multidisc/Panzer Dragoon Saga Disc 1 of 4 (U)/Panzer Dragoon Saga Disk 1.cue
../saturn-multidisc/Panzer Dragoon Saga Disc 2 of 4 (U)/Panzer Dragoon Saga Disk 2.cue
../saturn-multidisc/Panzer Dragoon Saga Disc 3 of 4 (U)/Panzer Dragoon Saga Disk 3.cue
../saturn-multidisc/Panzer Dragoon Saga Disc 4 of 4 (U)/Panzer Dragoon Saga Disk 4.cue
Not sure if I did something wrong because its now working for me
well done, thank you for a very clear video.
Since PCSX2 (PS2 emulator) does not accept M3U files, this will not work for PS2 games at all. The only good way is to access the Pause menu (press START and L3 simultaneously) then go to menu "Change Disc"
Thanks a lot dude saved me a lot of trouble
Wish I had read the comments first. I got the m3u file set up just how it says and nothing. Now I know that it's not me.
Thank you
Thank you for the info! I thought I was doing something wrong when it turns out it just doesn't work for ps2.
Holy you are the man 🎉
What about single disc games, or multiple disc games that have multiple tracks? Like BoF3 - Single Disc but Track 1 & Track 2, or Lunar SSS - Disc 1 Track 1 - Track 2 - Track 3?
There is a tutorial online where you can combine multi track games to 1 file
cheers! worked a treat for me
Glad it helped
You're videos are very helpful thanks man
You're amazing!! Thank you!!!
Great vid. Easy explanation
Glad it was helpful!
dude!!!!! awesome , thanks!!!
definitely needed for my ps2 games thanks dude.
Except PCSX2 does not accept M3U files. I am trying to find a solution right now with games like "Shadow Hearts - Covenant" and "Grandia III"
The only good way is to access the Pause menu (press START and L3 simultaneously) then go to menu "Change Disc"
Is this a bot? What are you smoking? pcsx2 doesn’t support m3u files😂 how are you plying? wtf
This is brilliant! Thanks for the info! I managed to get it to work. Im assuming ANY multi disc games will work, regardless of which console, as long as its bin/cue?
yes the m3u file supported the emulator will work with this.
Great video ED4T, quick question, do you need to create .M3U files if you have multi disk games in ISO format?
yes, you can. the M3u file will work with cue/bin, iso, or CHD.
Thanks, I forgot to ask, I only have ISO files, so would I still follow the same process in editing the m3u file, disc 1.iso, disc2.iso etc? Thanks again
can i create an additional folder inside the multidisk folder and copy that path to sort the games? or will this break it?
How can I do this for gamecube games which are in.ciso format??
I assume you can do all the setting up of the mu3 file in windows OS then just file transfer the 'PSX-Multidisk' folder to Emulations on the deck?
I will need to do this for Syphon Filter 2 multi discs which are .bin and .cue
GDI format it`s the same method?
Can you create the m3u file on your pc before and paste the cue files before moving it over to steamdeck?
After that you paste the shortcut to multi disc folder ofc. CBA with buying a usbc keyboard :D
is there a way to generate m3u files automatically by letting it scan the games folder ? i got a lot of games
Sorry to bother. As always phenomenal tutorials. Only issue I had was the multi-disc. I did the e writhing you said but when I clicked on the pic in Game Mode it failed to load. However, I was able to successfully load all 4 discs of Legend of Dragoon onto Game Library and able to load all discs including successfully loading and starting to play disc one. My question is, if I'm fine with having 4 disc images on my profile, will I be able to load the second disc( and third and forth) story with my save file when I get to that point?
Also if anyone else can confirm I can successfully load the other discs through the story once I complete each one feel free to comment :) like I said I'm fine with having the 4 images as long as it they all load when I get to that point in each one. ( I actually loaded it on there for girlfriend as a surprise so wanted to make sure it works for her as she progresses 😅 haha)
if you are using retroarch , i believe you can swap disc at end of each disc manually.
Ok awesome ! I figured out that the left touch pad used as a button can bring up a menu to change discs. And when I loaded disc 2,3,4 for Dragoon the save file from from disc 1 was present so hopefully it works. Thanks for replaying , great work as always man
Is there any reason this wouldnt work in a standalone front end like emulation station or pegasus?
Do you have a tutorial for multidisc files on Gamecube emulator?
Great info
This worked great for my ps1 roms, but I've tried this for ps2 and it is not working for either cue/bin files or iso. I tried converting all my ps2 games to chd before, and emudeck didn't like that (even when I tried it with their own compressor).
Nevermind. Turns out that this does NOT work for ps2. You might want to fix that in the video opening.
Sorry for misleading in the video. I can’t modify the video after it’s posted but I have added this to the pinned comment
Friend will this work for GameCube games ? Thank you in advance
Yes it will
Does the same method work for Saturn games? Asking cause I am currently playing Panzer Dragoon Saga and just finished disk 1
Yes it does
awesome video! and i what about games with 1 disc but with tracks? ( track 1, track 2 etc etc) 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
you can covetert them into one CHD format. that will be easier.
When you’ve finished with the multi disk folder and the M3U file is complete in the PSX folder, do i need to return back to emudeck for anything or am I done?
you need to back to emudeck steam rom manager and re-parse them.
@@ED4T thanks for the fast reply
and great video, you earned a subscriber
Hey, I followed everything in this guide to the letter and for some reason, when I launch the game via Steam (or Emulation Station), I just get DuckStation's UI for a second before it closes, I presume that means the .m3u file isnt pointing to any files Duckstation can use, but even so it doesnt appear to work.
Do you have any advice?
my m3u file looks like this, for example
/home/deck/Emulation/roms/psx-multidisk/Final Fantasy VIII/Final Fantasy VIII Disc 1.CHD
/home/deck/Emulation/roms/psx-multidisk/Final Fantasy VIII/Final Fantasy VIII Disc 2.CHD
/home/deck/Emulation/roms/psx-multidisk/Final Fantasy VIII/Final Fantasy VIII Disc 3.CHD
/home/deck/Emulation/roms/psx-multidisk/Final Fantasy VIII/Final Fantasy VIII Disc 4.CHD
and the files are 100% in that directory. the m3u file itself is in the psx folder as it should be.
make sure you dont have any space in front of each line . if still not work try to reset your EMUDECK.
The reason it’s crashing is because you have your duckstation set to fast boot, which skips the initial PSX loading screen. Turning this off fixes FFVIII
Is it different now?? I did this exact thing for my metal gear 1 and it didn’t work
this will alway remain same no changes.
@@ED4T when I did it exactly as your showed on the video it said no file loaded
I'm having the same issue. Followed the steps exactly and the ROM manager is showing multiple entries for each multi-disc game, same as before I tried to fix it. Wondering if there's been some sort of change in the ROM manager or maybe I need to add some exception/s? All of my game files are .chd as well
Ps 1 & 2 games with multiple disc can use this
Since PCSX2 (PS2 emulator) does not accept M3U files, this will not work for PS2 games at all. The only good way is to access the Pause menu (press START and L3 simultaneously) then go to menu "Change Disc"
How do u do it with isos, though?
I am playing MGS Twin Snakes on EmuDeck. How to change from disc 1 to disc 2
Does this work for GameCube on dolphin emulator for ciso files?
Same question. Trying the hell out for Resident Evil 4...it loads and kicks me back to emulation station. When i choose the discs separately, it works...
@@lukasb.3069SAME HERE
dose this work with gamecube as well ?
it will work with cue. & bin files for gamecube
Yes just use iso files.
My problem the whole time was using RVS format. NOW IT WORKS!!!!😂😊
What happens when you are prompted to switch to second disc? What do you do?
Is there a way to do this on Xbox 360 as well? I mean I keep Red dead redemption on two ISOs and I don't know how to get one out in the steam library
Can anyone help me? I did this and yea it works but it deleted all my saved data 😢
Your data may not have been deleted. You might just need to update the memory card in Duckstation's settings to "Shared Between All Games". By default the memory cards for Duckstation are set to _"Separate Card Per Game (Game Title)"_ which treats each disc for a particular game as its own game and saves -- this would explain why your data seemingly disappeared with the second disk. Hope this resolves the issue 🙏
Thankyou~ can you do ds video as well? Thanks again
Yes, Ds will be covered soon. Stay tuned!
You should do a video explaining how to do this on PS2 because it does not accept .m3u files
you have to manually select the next disc when it reaches end of first disc for PS2 games.
@@ED4T Oh okay, I'll try that, thank you
if you keep the m3u file in the same folder as the files added to it you don't need to add the file paths to it correct?
yes, you can leave all the bin/cue files and m3u files in the ROM folder. it will work too. but EmuDeck will pick up all the bin files as game as well as m3u file so you have to manually delete bin file game titles in EmuDeck.
Does it work with batocera too?
Would you be able to show a video like this for Xenia?
yeah man i will do one for sure. haha xenia is complicated for multiple discs,
@@ED4Tthank you! You the best!
Think I've sorted parasite Eve 2 but be gutted if get to end of disc 1 and doesn't work
You may have already resolved this issue by now, but I was experiencing the same issue with Parasite Eve 1. It worked after I kept swapping for Disc 2 multiple times. If that doesn't work, you might have to manually update the filepath on the game's properties on Steam to reflect the location for your Disc 2 file and update your memory card settings to _"Shared Between All Games"_ since by default Duckstation has memory cards set to _"Separate Card Per Game (Game Title)"_ (which causes Duckstation to treat discs as their own game with separate saves)
in windows please, i dont understand in steam deck
Can this also work with GDI files?
yes it will work GDI files as well.
@@ED4T thanks!
For MGS Special Missions you need an .sbi file. Assuming you just keep this in the additional folder with all the .cue and .bin files?
Hi, does this work with ISO files? I have a PS2 game with multi disk but in ISO file. Thanks.
this only works with bin/cue files. you can convert iso to cue and bin.
@@ED4T Thanks for your reply! No worries, I'll give that a try.
@@ED4T How do you make .cue files of ps2 games, i was able to convert the ISO to .bin but dunno how to do .cue
@@ED4T This has nothing to do with the format of the PS2 game. PCSX2 does not accept M3U files, period. The only good way is to access the Pause menu (press START and L3 simultaneously) then go to menu "Change Disc". Please, please correct the title of this video !!!
Where do we get the disc downloads from?
Plz do one for dolphine emu
On pc is too hard
This is a waste of time. You can change disc by using the left trackpad
What do you mean
How?
This is for a cleaner interface
Hi thanks for yet another amazing tutorial! I did everything as you showed, but when I start the game it only launches Disc1 and my prior saves are gone too 🥹 what could the mistake be?
Your data may not have been deleted. You might just need to update the memory card in Duckstation's settings to _"Shared Between All Games"._ By default the memory cards for Duckstation are set to "Separate Card Per Game (Game Title)" which would explain why your data seemingly disappeared with the second disk. You might also need to update the filepath location for *Target* on the game's properties on Steam to that of Disc 2 -- this way the game starts on Disc 2 from then on. Hope this resolves the issue 🙏
