Disclaimer I don’t own the gun: The TTI Pit Viper and Sand Viper are collectible firearms that offer a moderate (being conservative) degree of performance, appeal, and value. There are collectibles at higher prices providing minimal value to no value in other industries.. I think TTI has gauged the price the market is willing to pay for JW collectibles effectively. Despite critical reviews, the market has demonstrated a sustained interest for JW, with the value remaining above $7k, if available. Spending any more than 10 minutes comparing and heavily scrutinizing a collectible that still offers performance to firearms designed solely for performance (staccato/atlas/infinity) value per dollar is a narrow review. In the automotive industry, vintage cars command higher prices not for their current performance but as collectibles, and I don’t understand why anyone would buy an old moderate performing car. But who cares what I don’t understand, the market gets it. The feedback on the gun was solid, but again parts of the review seemed narrow, almost assuming TTI released this firearm with similar intentions as companies like Atlas or Infinity. It was in a movie, oh and look, you can actually use it at the range and it will perform reasonably well (again conservative, likely performs a bit better than reasonably well). The market response confirms its collectible status. People love JW movies. First 5 min in your into was SPOT ON. It’s a collectible. I don’t own and probably won’t but I love firearms and if I was into JW best believe I’m buying this firearm that can reasonably perform if I take it to the range, has sex appeal, and was in a movie. I worked for STI/Staccato during John Wick3 and WE made all the OG CombatMaster pistols and the Frame is marked with STI symbol and the slide was marked TTI
The mag not dropping free is most likely due to a cheap grip module. When injection molding grip modules like that, there is a shrink rate that happens when the polymer cools that has to be accounted for when creating and sizing the molds. If they don’t get the shrink rate right when creating the molds, you get slightly undersized grip modules.
I worked in the quality lab of a plastic injection molding plant and I can tell you that for something like that plastic grip module to be of consistent quality there would have to be a "magazine shaped " fixture to slide into the grip while it is cooling, even if it had coolant running through the mold before it was ejected from the machine.
99.99% of John Wick fans will say this is the best pistol in the world that's worth every penny. Not sure if they would say the same if this pistol cost $3499.99

Let start by saying if a man doesn't like 1911's, we can't be friends. I was pissed off awhile back when you made fun of people/guns that were of the 'budget" variety and they were solid weapons at their price point. For example, Tisas, believe it or not, makes all sorts of 1911's that are unbelievably good pistols. Having said that, I owe you a very large apology after seeing this video. Being "fair" is tough on RUclips. Most that revue guns are on the "take" at some level. You know that as most of us do. I am sorry I lumped you in with those folks. That was a "FTF" on my part. You made a fan out of me and I want to thank you for what you do. You are honest AND fair. Thank you for that. 🙂
My pit viper had the same fit and finish issues, I sent mine back for a full refund. TTI gave me a full refund without any problems. This all happened back in May, I contemplated making a video but I literally shipped it back the next day. Thanks for making this video, this needed to be put out in the wild.
I have worked on one of Tarans sand vipers. Pretty sure optimum manufacturing is making his slides. There is little to no hand fitting and you can really tell from the extractor fit along with the beaver tail engagement, slide to frame, and the sear springs are stock very little polishing or relieving and same with sear. The issue you had is hammer following into the halfcock. This is likely from how the after travel on the trigger itself was setup which can very from Mags believe it or not. It should be adjusted with a mag in the gun.
Hell yes. Someone finally calling bullshit on the Taran - Wick hype machine. Should not be a surprise that the guy who tapes over his charlies and calls them alphas would cut corners on both design and manufacturing and sell at a silly inflated price to the simps. We need more reviews like this that critically examine the engineering behind the marketing.
Also to be far the TTI sand viper won two USPCA competitions. And the pit viper is meant to be used in the Iron sights classification where the sand viper is used for open competition. It’s a modified 2011 for competition/ collection. And yes there is a price increase for being featured in a successful movie
My opinion, but.. I am happy to see y'all call out that its garbage. Throw shade on people who gave it a bit too good of a review. There needs to be more of this in our community, calling out trash regardless of who is behind it. There are far too many that get paid to review it even if its junk and sing how amazing it is. Always be honest and never become shills please!
Excellent review and commentary. Wonder how TTI will respond, if at all. I have never been into the Glam gun craze with colored parts, wild slide cuts, and all the other BS that draws your eye. I guess for the movies it makes sense but IMHO if the customization is not purely functional in a positive sense, then there is no practical operational value. I fully agree on your final assessment, save yer bucks and buy a Nighthawk Custom. I bought a NH T3 many years ago and it is hands down the finest 1911 I have ever fired. The trigger is sublime in operation and the fit and finish of the weapon is impeccable. Keep up the great work fellas.
I completely agree with you, I love the JW franchise and if I ever win the lottery, I'll own every JW gun. But you are right, it's a premade (Mass produced and assembled) gun with a huge markup
Bul Armory for the average joe, Staccato for the person that can save up a bit more, INFINITY for the dream gun 6-7k worth.. shot my brothers Atlas Athena, it felt in a whole different league than my C2 or anything else for that matter, but it did not shoot like a 5-6k gun over a 2-3k gun imho.
As price goes up on custom guns, the return in refinement is a lower %. The way it is in any mechanical project. guns, Race Engines, you name it. it is game of diminishing returns. But it is legitimate. No owner of an INfinity or Atlas would argue the point. KnifeMaker
I have a Bul Armory SAS Tac II w/ an optic that cost me 2K I have huge buyers remorse despite knowing I saved about 1K over a similarly optioned Staccato It’s my fav gun and I live shooting it but 2K🤦🏾 I can’t imagine paying 7K for a pistol
An emotional response but not a legitimate one. There are many firearms worth many hundreds of thousands of Dollars. Some Millions. Fine Purdy and Holland and Holland Double Rifles for instance made for Royalty and are the envy or any collector of fine guns and art. If you own one of many of these fine firearms', you can command an extravagant amount and have huge profit. As will the buyer in just a few years. Same with very high end Custom Knives. For the most collectable of them, the return is much higher than just about any investment you could possibly make and be guaranteed a very Health proffit. Are these worth it in you mind. Nope. Are they worth it financially, H*ll Yes! (Is a vintage rolex worth than a brand spanking new Timex). If and only if you understand the market value and money. What sucks in this instance is the inflated price due to the item being a movie fan must have. is it well made, Nope. Desirable to the movie buff, yep in many cases. There are movie props sold every day at high end auctions that bring huge amounts of money. All due to provenance. It is what it is. In this case, it is only a copy of a prop, but apparently authorised. Not something I would spend , money on, but whether it is of superb quality matters not in the least to this type of collector. Only the Movie and hype it generates sets the market. KnifeMaker.
I have a John Wick 2 built on a Glock 35. You are absolutely correct that it is poor value. I love this gun and don't regret buying one and waiting a year to get it.
I believe its Staccato building these. They re- released a limited edition on the JW3 2011's through Staccato for $20,000 for 2 Combat Master 2011's. One being an Island barrel pistol. So I kinda connected the dots when I seen that. If I'm going to spend that kinda coin on a pistol. Im buying an Atlas or an Infinity. I own 2 Staccato's, an XC and a P. That equal the price of this one pistol. I will stick with that.
My gun club brought this gun in and we all had a chance to fire and discuss. A fine shooting gun, but people picked up on the grip and safety. $7000.00? This gun will fall from grace as time goes on, like the Luago Alien. I can go to Hayes Custom and build a killer 2011 for $4000 to whatever price I want. A custom milled, hand fitted, best components, and finish with a host of cosmetic choices. Plus, the Hayes family are awesome and the nicest people.
Great review guys, not selling your souls like a lot of “ gun tubers “ that always say everything they review is the best thing happen sense sliced bread ,,, Taran products is overhyped and over priced in general compare to top tier manufacturers that charge less but have 100% better quality and products Stay strong
The main difference is that we can now use our pace again. For the last 2 yearss we've been pressing so high up the pitch that it kept the opposition pinned back and there was no space to make any runs behind the defence. This way we force the opposition to come for out for the ball, which leaves so much space to make runs in behind.
Before I finish watching this video I'm going to put my best guess in. I was surprisingly looking for information on who makes the TTI guns less than the week ago, and found nothing. I've held a few TTI pistols in my local gun store, including the sand viper, and I can't dismiss the fact that they are eerily reminiscent of staccato 2011s.
Yep, I just picked up a Staccato C-2 as the Les Baer was getting a little heavy. LOL! Only complaint on the C-2 is the drop in fire control group. No excuse for the hammer hooks and sear nose not to be properly dressed. The hammer hooks still had all the DLC finish on them. I feel a little scammed. OK, more than a little scammed. I called customer service and was told they were hand fit. Seems he didn't know the difference between dropped in by hand, (Not a robot) and actual hand fitting. Pitiful! KnifeMaker
It is a little strange TTI doesn't tell you who makes the pistols. You would think that would be a selling point they would want to brag about. The fact that some one won a shooting competition with it really doesn't do much for me. World class competitors can probably kick ass with a Glock 34 too. Also, I really appreciate how you went into detail on what you saw wrong with the pistol. That grip fitment looks like it would hurt my hands after a shooting session. And I have calloused up farmer's hands.
Caniks whole claim to fame in competition circles is that they bought some great shooters for their team and they were able to win with a Canik. Buy a Canik and training ammo for the remaining like $6000+ and you too might win a competition.
@@Dentlessthey did that once and might have made those, but the majority of them are made by someone else. Unfortunately I don’t know who as I didn’t know them when it was told to me or I might have remembered. Hell Staccato (at the time, STI) only made the first batch or so of the Combat Master. Eventually the rest of those were made elsewhere also.
I really appreciate your honest reviews! It’s a great gun for half the cost but, at 7K no thanks. It seams like TTI is ridding the coattails of the John Wick movies to push over priced guns.
Great and honest review! I had read on one of the forums that Taran had bought an old patent/design from STI to make the Pit/Sand Vipers (my guess the DVC-P) This was supposedly from a friend of someone currently employed at TTI. Since STI is no more and became Staccato, I would not be surprised if Staccato is supplying the comped barrel, slide and frame to Taran and he has his gunsmith machine all the fancy slide work and drop in a bunch of internals from the top tier brands. That’s my take at least
I agree 100%.....it's a good looking gun with big movie/TTI behind it which turns it into cash grab nd for a better fit & finish gun for 7k I would definitely go the route of handmade nd get your true money's worth........
the TTI licensed airsoft versions have sold in the 10,000's and theyre actually great value as far as airsoft tiers and performance, build and materials quality goes.
I love the TTI pit viper, but I do think that it’s only worth half the price that it is currently costing to purchase right now. Even though I’ll probably end up paying to get it one day anyways.
Saw this pit viper at the gun shop and though I was super intrigued to buy it...but then remember your review...I decided to save money and wait for atlas oneday or get more other guns...thanks guys
Whole lot of people harp on “tolerance” yet don’t understand that “tolerances” are called out on ALL mechanical drawings. Quality control exists to ensure the machines parts are made within those tolerances. A real problem exists if parts for a gun are being made with prints that don’t call out tolerances.
FWIW, the superlative of "loose" is "most loose" not "loosest" but people use "loosest" quite often because so long as we know what message somebody is trying to convey it doesn't really matter. But Chris, like usual, is correct.
I don’t ever see myself owning or firing this pistol. Number 1, I’m not that financially stable, Number 2, I don’t know anyone that financially stable. It’s a dream gun that is what it is, a dream.
I like this guy finally someone who’s not afraid to let there nuts hang in the RUclips gun review or thoughts/ facts.Would not take 2,500 to make no damn handgun if ur just talking materials. And yeah mr Tarzan charges way to much for his John wick fleshlight.
I would never have bought one to begin with, but this is a great video that validates exactly what i was assuming. Anything with TTI just seems like they're trying to rob you.
Give that probably nothing on this gun is hand fit, my guess about the problem you had iPhone footage of is that to get the trigger so light, they brought it on the verge of hammer follow, and that’s what you got. Thanks a lot for the great video and production quality. Bad reviews are never fun, but sometimes they’re needed, and remind us viewers that some channels are worth trusting more than others
I couldn’t agree with y’all any more than that; a nighthawk trs sand hawk is 2k cheaper with a aluminum grip and one gunsmith. Not to mention the Vanta 9 blows this gun out of the water Great review!
I agree 100% on this particular gun but metal grip doesn’t always mean better gun. Joe Chambers I believe doesn’t even make guns with metal grips because he believes polymer is better for hard use guns. I like metal grips but his logic makes sense. Chambers is not for everyone, but he undoubtedly is a highly regarded builder in the industry.
Tonight on 1911 Syndicate: Jake is 75% more Jeremy Clarkson in the intro and 25% John Wick from pintress , the gentrified rubber targets gets brutalized by Taran's expensive creation, and Chris goes back in time when he was a seedy alley gun salesyeti.....
If I was to buy any handgun at a top tier price, I would be going to Wilson Combat. And I don't see myself getting one because 3k and 4k is a lot of money.
Machinist here, looking at the gun and comparing it against my own collection, I believe this most likely started life as a different gun, and was modified. I'd say they bought a production 2011, had it modified by a 3rd party, and then sold it after it was refinished. Still doesn't make it worth 7k, but it did probably start out as a 3k gun and then had parts changed out. I say that because if the grip was specifically made for that gun and grip safety, it wouldn't need to be fitted by hand but would still fit better. It looks like it was fitted for another safety, and that one was dropped in.
I can’t say it’s the only open gun he uses (it’s probably not), but I just saw a picture of Kenshiro Nagato shooting what looked to me like a Sand Viper in open division Steel Challenge. He’s shockingly fast, so it must work decently well. That said, interesting observations. I won’t ever even see one, so it’s not too big a deal to me. Doesn’t sound as nice as other high end 2011s, as you’ve described it.
You don’t want us making you a pistol… 😂 I can say that was a real review. That really took apart the ridiculous price tag and why it’s just not worth 7k. Thanks as always gents.
Thanks for this review. People could get a Vanta 9 with a high-end optic, multiple extra mags, and a grand to spare. You could also get a fully tricked out Nighthawk BDS9 or if you are looking for a comped 2011 a Sandhawk at that price point. Shame on them for taking people's money like that.
I assumed it was a $5k gun with a $2k name. Turns out it's a $3k gun and a $4k name. Thanks for keeping it real!

Do our best to be honest and truthful 👊🏼
Realest gun review I’ve seen in a while. Great job fellas.
Shows you how much gun companies have co-opted most other YT channels.
Hey I’m just here to shoot the guns and talk about it
Also to be far the TTI sand viper won two USPCA competitions. And the pit viper is meant to be used in the Iron sights classification where the sand viper is used for open competition. It’s a modified 2011 for competition/ collection. And yes there is a price increase for being featured in a successful movie
Competition is much more about the shooter than whatever X gun they are using.
That said, I have never seen the actual guns that were reviewed elsewhere. They may be great guns. I have a sample size of 1
Excellent review and commentary.
I loved the John wick series lol. I watch it on a plane with no volume and I don’t miss a thing lol
I recognize that alley way.....Next to Gallensons gun shop. Cool video again.....thanks.
Your honesty is honorable. As a man who’s died… there’s no time for bullshit. I thank you. Honestly
For $7K I'd have a 2019 Chambers Custom WMG a BUNCH of both magazines and ammo.
Or you can get the Erebus, a real race gun
Shhh. Don’t let him know one of the best 2011 pattern guns sold has a polymer grip too.
I completely agree with you, I love the JW franchise and if I ever win the lottery, I'll own every JW gun. But you are right, it's a premade (Mass produced and assembled) gun with a huge markup
I love these long videos and the honesty. Keep them coming.
Jake and Crispy are nailing it 👊🏼
Y’all’s production value is incredible
Thanks for the honest review. You guys rock! I'll stick with my SA TRP.
Trp is for sure a better option.
Thank you so much for telling us how you feel. Tell it like it is! That’s why I have subscribed! The best of videos ever!
KnifeMaker
Before JW4 dropped this pistol you could get for low $4k direct from TTI
No single firearm is worth 7k. The value worth return on that is massively upside down. Hype is spot on.
I have a Bul Armory SAS Tac II w/ an optic that cost me 2K
I have huge buyers remorse despite knowing I saved about 1K over a similarly optioned Staccato
It’s my fav gun and I live shooting it but 2K🤦🏾
I can’t imagine paying 7K for a pistol
Not anymore
@@jvz1448why is that?
@@SleepyNineNot sure the reason but they made the previous Taran versions. The new manufacture is a mystery
I'd laugh my ass off if it was Tisas or Girsan or some other clone company.
Honestly I’ve got no clue. I only know that I haven’t figured it out yet
Your reviews are very impressive, many thanks.
Great, honest review! Not only has The Devil’s Child improved his shooting skills, but also his acting, too. 👏
Thank you very much
Right? Dude is stepping it up lately
Great review!! Saved me $$$$🤙
Great review guys, not selling your souls like a lot of “ gun tubers “ that always say everything they review is the best thing happen sense sliced bread ,,,
Taran products is overhyped and over priced in general compare to top tier manufacturers that charge less but have 100% better quality and products
Stay strong
The main difference is that we can now use our pace again. For the last 2 yearss we've been pressing so high up the pitch that it kept the opposition pinned back and there was no space to make any runs behind the defence. This way we force the opposition to come for out for the ball, which leaves so much space to make runs in behind.
Love your honesty !! Came here after your review of Mandy, and I have to say I’d take Mandy over the TPV any day of the week.
I agree with the metal grip opinion. My MPA DS9 is 2500 and comes with aluminum grip.
I am glad I did my research before delving into the pit viper before my infinity. This video proves my purchase thankfully 😂…..
Looks to me, Staccato builds them too..... However he states Staccato is far better
🤷🏼♂️
Yep, I just picked up a Staccato C-2 as the Les Baer was getting a little heavy. LOL! Only complaint on the C-2 is the drop in fire control group. No excuse for the hammer hooks and sear nose not to be properly dressed. The hammer hooks still had all the DLC finish on them. I feel a little scammed. OK, more than a little scammed. I called customer service and was told they were hand fit. Seems he didn't know the difference between dropped in by hand, (Not a robot) and actual hand fitting. Pitiful!

It’s a staccato. Staccato does limited release “John wick” gun packages for like 10k-20k for 2 guns… randomly and dipsticks suck them up.
World class competitors "DO" kick ass with a Glock 34
@@hks956 I thought so, I just don't really follow what competitors are using. Thanks for your input!
Thank you for a true review!
The dynamic between you two is just precious!
Lol
I appreciate the honesty. Thanks guys.
I'm glad I have the sand viper because it seems to be missing all of the pitfalls of the pit viper (no pun intended)
I really appreciate your honest reviews! It’s a great gun for half the cost but, at 7K no thanks. It seams like TTI is ridding the coattails of the John Wick movies to push over priced guns.
That cigar Chris is puffing on is probably a 7x50 Churchill that he makes look like a cigarillo.
Sounds reasonable but if you can find a close up of the Sand Viery, it clearly says Staccato 2011 on the frame!
KnifeMaker
I've never been a fan of exclusive guns but I'd buy yours if there was a collaboration project
One day we shall. Not until it’s the right time where we’ve got a good idea
And we love Calvin 🙌🏼
the Gen2 that you have is now build by Staccato
I agree 100%.....it's a good looking gun with big movie/TTI behind it which turns it into cash grab nd for a better fit & finish gun for 7k I would definitely go the route of handmade nd get your true money's worth........
the TTI licensed airsoft versions have sold in the 10,000's and theyre actually great value as far as airsoft tiers and performance, build and materials quality goes.
Good on you guys for not being afraid to slaughter a sacred cow. Always thought these things seemed obscenely priced, even for a custom 2011
🤙🏻
That gun is like a local Hibachi steak dinner..... $1 worth of steak....and $15 worth of rice. Y'all are great and funny AF!
Its 7k MSRP. At time of writing, pushing 10k. When should the consumer expect some quality assurance?
FWIW, the superlative of "loose" is "most loose" not "loosest" but people use "loosest" quite often because so long as we know what message somebody is trying to convey it doesn't really matter. But Chris, like usual, is correct.
Lol
I don’t ever see myself owning or firing this pistol. Number 1, I’m not that financially stable, Number 2, I don’t know anyone that financially stable. It’s a dream gun that is what it is, a dream.
Thank you guys for this honest review.
I like this guy finally someone who’s not afraid to let there nuts hang in the RUclips gun review or thoughts/ facts.Would not take 2,500 to make no damn handgun if ur just talking materials. And yeah mr Tarzan charges way to much for his John wick fleshlight.
Great and honest review calling out the scammers. Stay true. A lot of people are out there to take advantage of the uninformed
I ran a TT Sand Viper a while back and it was stupid smooth and easy to run.
Yea pretty much every 2011 is like that
I hope so for what they cost. Seems that the Sand Viper I ran had good QC unlike the one in this video.@@1911syndicate
is the knife at 1:31 a Fanatic Edge Omen?
I believe that’s correct. It was a gift and I’ve somehow forgotten
@@1911syndicate what a great gift! looks like the damasteel blade too, which makes an already good looking knife that much better
Great fun!!! As always!!
You guys need to get Taran Butler on to explain or defend his gun. I'm glad to finally have a review that's not over hyping this gun for once
I really have no issue with Taran. People I know speak highly of him. But the gun sucked
The co host seems to be more like a sidekick in this video just puffing a cigar and adding “yup” “yeah” “right” lol
NH grips have bad ergos, feels like a bar of soap. Just sold my sand hawk. Fowler blows it out of the water? Subjective.
$7k with irons only?
@@jvz1448 Joe Chambers wouldn't charge 7k for a none hand fitted 1911/2011 made from a parts bin...
@@BrianKern2121 exactly
Agreed
Tonight on 1911 Syndicate: Jake is 75% more Jeremy Clarkson in the intro and 25% John Wick from pintress , the gentrified rubber targets gets brutalized by Taran's expensive creation, and Chris goes back in time when he was a seedy alley gun salesyeti.....
And on that bombshell. . .
BACK TO THE STUDIO!!!
Freakin nailed it
Mine's better!
I just look at HO footage of the gun, there is different thumb Safety, the press safety is feeted good in HO gun. So mabe they are different gun :).
If I was to buy any handgun at a top tier price, I would be going to Wilson Combat. And I don't see myself getting one because 3k and 4k is a lot of money.
Of course it’s not the top, but most of the time the name makes a difference in long run. I just bought and I think it’s good to add to collection!!!
Good review!
You don’t want us making you a pistol… 😂
I can say that was a real review. That really took apart the ridiculous price tag and why it’s just not worth 7k. Thanks as always gents.
🍻
Love the review. Brutally honest
