The next generation is out there.

My first gun was a revolver, a colt trooper used in 357. My first time shooting it. On about the 15th round. The cylinder was out of time And it's stung the hell out of my hand so bad. I dropped it in the dirt. Took it back to my lgs And traded it in on a brand new series 70 Colt .45acp government model for $295. Nothing fancy but I loved it wish I still had it. Now I have a Springfied TRP .45acp, A Dan Wesson Valor 10mm, Les Baer PremierII .45acp. None of them have rails or optic cut. I like to carry 1911s stuck in my belt with the muzzle in my jeans, rear pocket. It just feels right. I hope to get another Colt 1 day. I do have a Colt SAA New Frontier .45 Colt 2nd gen but it is a safe queen. 1911s FOREVER.

I'm a 62 y.o. retired USMC Master Guns. I was in for 22 years(1982 - 2004), I was deployed in seven different countries (Beirut, Grenada, Panama, Columbia, Nicaragua, Iraq, Afghanistan),, and I carried a 1911 for the entire time I was actively deployed. My personal choice was a 5" Springfield 1911-A1 National Match, but I have since gone EXTREME. I have the king of all 1911's, a Springfield 1911-A1 with a Rowland .460 Magnum conversion. This thing can drop a CHARGING RHINO at 500 yards, and I have tagged the 10 ring at 1000 yards ! It's a BEAST !

For Tisas 1911s, "Duty" means a full size, 5" gun, while "Carry" means a Commander size, 4.5" barrel. Not long ago, I saw the Tisas DB9R, which was the full size 9mm w/ rail, for $329!
Every gun enthusiast should own a 1911. I have only one, a Kimber Dessert Warrior with a threaded barrel and Rugged Obsidian can. And a Surefire X300U light. Whenever I shoot with family or friends the 1911 comes along, to spread the 1911 love
Love the video. One note though. When I was in the Navy, when we were in a hot zone, we carried cocked and locked. Never had an issue. When I carry my 1911, I carry cocked and locked.
I’ve talked to a lot of veterans from WW2, Korea, Vietnam, and you are the first to tell me that. All the accounts I have seen or heard have the gun being with the hammer down. Even in most pictures of the gun in combat zones in WW2 I see the gun hammer down. That’s quite interesting information- I’ll have to read more into it.

Picked up myself a ruger sr1911 with the lightweight aluminum frame for under 600. Now it’s my first 1911 so I can’t say much about comparison but it definitely shoots well in my option and very accurate too.
My first 1911 was the Ruger SR1911 Lightweight Commander in God’s caliber, which I traded in the Glock 26 and Remington Tac-14 12ga that had been my EDC and home-defense weapons up until then for shortly after separating from my then-wife, who wouldn’t have cared that I A) reduced the total # of guns in the house, and B) spent less (after the trade-ins) than she had on her last trip to Ulta for makeup, and either lectured me, or found some kind of passive-aggressive way to punish me for it lmao. I can’t for the life of me figure out why the Lightweight Commander MSRPs for $450 more than the Lightweight full-size ($1249 vs $799; actual retail prices according to GB are ~$899-1k and $630-680, respectively), because a side-by-side comparison of their spec sheets straight off the Ruger website reveals that the only differences between the two are the grip material, length (barrel/slide & OAL), and weight. Hardwood instead of G10 grips, and being 0.92” shorter & 1.8oz lighter OAL just doesn’t come out to a ~$300 price difference IMO, luckily back when I bought mine, they were running $7-800. One Smith & Alexander aluminum carry-width magwell (the only Al one I’ve ever found, S&A can’t be ordered direct online, you MUST call, but the guy is super friendly and their prices are some of the best in the industry for the quality of the product, I have a stainless one on my Ronin and it is ALSO impeccable), a set of slim magwell-cut orange/black G10 LOK Grips (to match my collection of Cutlery Shoppe exclusive Spydercos), an XS white Ember front sight w/blank U-notch rear, and Nighthawk Custom Drop-in Trigger System w/one of their fully machined stainless thumb safeties gunsmith-fit to it, a full set of their pins & springs, and their Everlast recoil system w/a flatwire spring & full-length guide rod, plus I picked up a full complement of the obligatory Wilson Combat 8 & 10rd “Elite Tactical” magazines (the railed ones with the reinforced feed-lips and self-lubing/anti-tilt followers) when Brownells was doing one of their 3/$80-90 (or something like that) sales. Despite having added a number of other pistols to my collection (all 1911s save my SA-35 & East German Makarov), I still carry my trusty Ruger in the Commander-length Galco Royal Guard 2.0 holster (think Milt Sparks horsehide SS2) I picked up for $100 (MSRP: $185/ARP: ~$150) in an open-box deal on Amazon nearly every day, so don’t get me wrong at all: I f**king LOVE this gun, but I really can’t see spending a whole grand on it stock. With my upgrades it has a 3.5# trigger with 0 creep, a baby hair’s worth of overtravel, and the *perfect* amount of reset, plus, not only is the recoil spring rated to a minimum of 15k rounds, but the recoil reduction & timing between it, my hammer spring, and the trigger reset is such that even in rapid fire, it’s easy to forget that you’re shooting an alloy-frame gun, and at 15yd I’m able to put up groups that rival my Government-length/steel-frame Colt, and my buddy’s Springfield TRP (both in .45ACP as well), so I 100% believe the 5” version of this gun is capable of at least the same level of accuracy, if not better). Still can’t understand the significant price difference, but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ oh well, I guess I’m just lucky I snagged mine when I did lol
Ruger makes a great gun and is a great company. They haven’t really figured out the polymer striker fired pistols yet but everything else they make is top notch. That aluminum Ruger 1911 has got me rethinking carrying a 1911. Hopefully they will make an aluminum framed 1911 with a bobtail grip, pic rail, optic cut and maybe they could figure out a way to make a staggered stack magazine that doesn’t feel like a steel 2x4 in your hands like the Rock Island double stacks but also isn’t $2k.
I have the Ruger commander length SR1911 and it has been 100% reliable. I also have a Ruger P90, which was my first 45 caliber pistol. Say what you want about this pistol, but it has never had one miss fire in all the years that I owned it!😊
Fun fact, the empty chamber/uncocked hammer carry was a result of a pissing match between colt and whomever was making the holsters at the time. It was found that the holster would switch off the safety and the result would be Private Balshack shoots his own leg. The Army sided with the holster maker and told Colt to fix it, so Colt basically told them the gun is to be carried chamber empty as an FU.
Carried an out of the box Colt 1911 series 80 until I retired in 2019. Thankfully, I worked for a smaller department that allowed officers to carry their own choice if they wanted to. OBTW, it's called "Arsenal Refinished". Thought you might know that if you deal with 1911s regularly. When I worked undercover, I carried a Colt 1991A1 Compact again, out of the box. I've never found it necessary to "modify" any 1911 I've every owned or carried, why destroy perfection. I guess that puts me in the "Purest" when it comes to my 1911s. The best non Colt I've found and owned is the AO 1911A1, no modifications period.

Just clicked onto the channel this morning for the first time. I couldn't believe it, a channel with 1911 lovers! No smarmy comments about it being an outdated, old timer POS, because plastic is Gods gift to and Glock is the Savior of the gun world, etc. The first handgun I ever shot was a what would now days be categorized as a .45 caliber series 70 Colt Combat Commander, steel frame. The first FIREARM I ever owned was that same Colt. I have been in love with the 1911 ever since I was a little kid ( I'm 71 now). Glad I found you guys!

I just picked up a rock island tac standard for 600. With about half an hour of polishing on the inside I got this thing to feel like a gun worth double that.
Ed Brown s are great 1911s and do seem to get less internet love, but they usually make most peoples top 3 for custom 1911. Great video and fun choices.

I don't have a GI issued 1911, I have owned Colts including a Gold Cup, guns from Rock Island Armory, Randall, Tisas, and Auto-Ordinance and a Springfield and one Kimber. Hands down, my favorite 1911s to go on a range day with have been the RIA or Tisas. My EDC is a Tisas Tank Commander.
i found my 1942 colt 1911a1 army for 300$ from a gun shop it came with a shoe box that contained what turned out to be all of its old gi internals, barrel bushing i micro adj rear sight and 3 two tone mags. turns out it had ben gone over and has colt contract nm prefix barrel and bushing fitted & installed and a few other parts wer actually hand made like the fixed sights and the trigger, and evry working surface is polished its pretty crazy. the reason it was so cheap is that it had ben expertly polished and charcoal blued, the frame and slide and fire blue all the small parts..it made it quote practically worthless! the slide and frame are numbers match still at least lol ya know i sold the three two tone mags for 300$ lol so it ended up costing nothing! ide wager that it was the best 1911 at the shop that day by far, for less than a new rock island! its the most dependable 1911a1 ive ever shot and shoots exactly wear you are aiming and will keep up with any other custom made target rigs made for camp perry national match. i got lucky and will treasure it as long as i live.
79yr old veteran carrying Para Ordinance 13-45 is my EDC Hot weather carry is Fusion Officer in 9mm My safe holds 6 more 1911's. Rock Island mae some excellent 1911's at a reasonable price.
The 1911 is my all tie favorite pistol. Your expert made a comment about carrying a 1911 in combat that I have heard before other than it could be carried in the half cock but not advised. I carried a 1911 off and on for 19 years and qualified with a 1911 for 18 of my 20 years in the Marine Corp from 1968 to 1988 shooting the GI Govt like he had. The last year was with the M109 Beretta in 9 mm and my last expert badge was with it. I managed to pull out 10 expert on qualifications with the 45 in my latter years.I have built several match grade 1911’s when I was younger out of the same receivers that your Govt pistol. I own 5 currently and I also don’t have the money that you spent on a low end one but with careful hand loading they shoot ( not Run) really well. I could only watch about 13 min of your video than went to another video. Stay safe and have a good one.

My very first 1911 purchase was an Ed Brown custom Kobra 5 inch in 45ACP. That is my BBQ gun and will never get rid of it. They do not market themselves very well. They rely on word of mouth, blogs, and just the 1911 community to get the word out.

Being 74 years old and raised in the San Fernando Valley, my Dad worked up at Santa Susana test facility. When I was 15 years old he asked if I could shoot with their Pistol Team. They said YES and I was able to shoot with them for 5 years. I had to have a 45 1911 which was loaded to me and I bought the Ruger bull barrel 22 caliber semi automatic, as I got some more money I bought the Colt Combat Commander and had the trigger and target sights put on it. Back in those days if you were 18 years old you could buy any gun or ammo you wanted. I inherited a Gold Cup 45 which was set up by the Colt’s gunsmith shop . I bought the Springfield Armory version of the standard issue. And the S&W copy of the 1911 with crimson light in the left hand grip. As far as 22 goes I bought a used Colt Woodsman Match, and have two High Standard Supermatic pistols. I was given an ammo box full of 1911 parts whose father was the Gunsmith for the Army’s pistol team.
I started out with a .22 1911 to learn the ins and outs of the 1911. I taught my grandson how to shoot it and it replaced my Ruger 10/22 as his favorite gun. A year later I bought a Tisas 1911 in .45 ACP because it was about all I could afford on a fixed income. My grandson fired one mag through it. The first thing he said was "It's loud". He's a good shooter. Better than I am. I alternate shooting between the 2 1911's. The .22 one week and the .45 ACP the next week. The only mods I've done is putting compensator on both pistols. Happy shooting!
You should try some of the ligheight rounds for the 45. I got some, I think hey are 90grains but cycle the gun just fine but have almost no recoil. I think they are made my Civil Liberty Defense .
I’m not gonna talk trash on the 365XL because I wear one, but the 1911 I also wear is a Series 80 Colt LWC. It hides very well, and she is easy to acquire if needed.

I'm a realist here if you're going to try to get new shooters in the 1911s. You got make the 2011s as the norm. I'm sorry but people want to be hold more rounds, eight rounds isnt enough and cheaper to buy. Regarding the Tisas, I would never waste my time looking at them, but I was at one of the LGS here a couple months ago and the owner wanted me to look at a Tisas Commander Aviator lightweight in 9mm. It's a somewhat odd mix of parts, but it's actually a good lookin pea shooter... It's two-tone. It has a solid trigger, a standard short rear sight and it has a very nicely dovetailed front sight that has a brass bead. It has a standard grip safety with a Commander hammer., and an arched mainspring housing.. The fit and finish is very nice and it cycles nicely. Even the case is fairly nice, AND it came with two mags

5"-Safari arms Match Master (my late brother and I bought matching ones in the early 90's. A sentimental favorite) Classic - 1939 mfg commercial colt .38 super Do it all- Custom Remington R1 enhanced commander.45 super. This gun has proven 100% reliable with.45 super/.45ACP+p/.45ACP And actually has the ability to do it all. EDC- Sig C3 Commander/Officer hybrid. Lightweight, accurate and extremely reliable. 8 rds and a fullsize mag on my person. BBQ gun- Coonan Classic .357 mag. It's the ultimate conversation starter both at the range or anywhere there are gun people. Beater- this one is a tough one, but I think it has to be a gun I through together with parts I had laying around. It's a .45ACP/.400 Corbon interchangeable barrel gun it has a Remington R1 stainless commander slide(cdnn special), a cheap fusion firearms cast frame(it was the only thing I had to buy, cylinder and slide hammer/sear kit, a Wilson combat grip safety, Remington 25 lpi mainspring housing (cdnn special also), all Wolff springs, Ed Brown thumb safety and slide stop, Wilson bushing, Remington factory barrel (from my .45 super build) and Barsto .400 Corbon barrel (I bought years ago) EGW full length guide rod and plunger, Dawson Novak style sights, fusion K hole trigger, cheap black plastic checkered grips(I don't recall the part# but they were the grips used for arsenal refurbished military pistols) I could do this all day long. I own 1911's in just about every configuration imaginable and I think in every caliber you can chamber them in. I own them from VERY expensive to very budget. Very few have stayed in their original configuration. Greatest handgun ever designed!!!
There are very few left handed shooters out there and I felt that 1911s were too "unfriendly" to left handed shooters. Until I saw you gettin' some rounds out with the TRP. Thanks for your content! You helped make a new left handed 1911 shooter, I'm sure there's 6 or 7 of us now!
That's the only thing I don't like about 1911's they are mostly made for right hand shooters.Unless you spend big bucks to have one made for a left-handed shooter.
I was a dedicated Colt 1911 guy. However, I purchased a modern 'Gold Cup. and was very disaapointed. I judged all of my 1911's to the Mark IV series 70 that served me so well. I shot it unitil it was complexly worn out. With the exception of the 'Gold Cup' style slide and the adjustable sights, the internals seem to be no different than any of their other guns. The trigger is marginal, and the fit of internal components of my pistol is no different from their cheapest models. The barrel to bushing fit is abysmal. The slide to receiver fit is marginal. It's a long way from the God Cup of the 60's and 70's. I've moved to Springfield Armory guns and haven't looked back.
I'm kinda surprised (yet not really surprised) that Eli's "beater" gun isn't the Hi-Cap, because at least on IG it seems like that's the one (or Top 3 at least) that he has the most rounds through, but then I remembered the part where since he works for Alchemy he was only allowed to mention one of their guns, lol. The Ed Brown is still badass, though. When I was first getting into guns, Ed Brown was like my grail 1911. That was, until I discovered what Cabot Guns and Alchemy Custom Weaponry are. Especially Cabot, since they have their "Southpaw" line of full-custom left-handed guns. I'm wrong-handed like Jake and I REALLY want a Southpaw. One day...
It would’ve been hard for me to not have an ACW for at least three of the categories. I probably would’ve kept the NHC/Colt and Remington Rand, though. You’re right, the HiCap is absolutely the gun I beat up the most, though.
Believe it or not I used a Colt Officers 3.5" barrel for years. It took 2 gunsmiths 30 years ago to set it up correctly. Went through full pistol traing with it and for 25 yards it was bullseye accurate. Loaded it for carry with Cor Bon 165gr 1325fps ( with a 4" barrel) so plenty powerful for the 3.5 inch barrrel. Of course a heavy Wolf slide spring. Notice the Commander 4.25 inch pistol is the limit to downsizing of barrel size here. Just thought a defense of a smaller barrel for a .45 acp was needed. With practice can be always accurate. By the way standard 230 gr hardball would still be accurate and deadly.
My 5: Classic - 80s era Colt Combat Elite .45 Do-It-All - Wilson Combat EDC X9 9mm EDC - Ed Brown Kobra Carry .45 BBQ - Wilson Combat Protector, stainless .45 Beater - Tisas Govt. Model I bought the Tisas to compete in SASS Wild Bunch matches - and have been surprised by its reliability and accuracy. It's not a WC or an Ed Brown...or even a Colt. But its a decent throw-back to the WWI/WW2 pistols.

I'm a 62 y.o. retired USMC Master Guns. I was in for 22 years(1982 - 2004), I was deployed in seven different countries (Beirut, Grenada, Panama, Columbia, Nicaragua, Iraq, Afghanistan),, and I carried a 1911 for the entire time I was actively deployed. My personal choice was a 5" Springfield 1911-A1 National Match, but I have since gone EXTREME. I have the king of all 1911's, a Springfield 1911-A1 with a Rowland .460 Magnum conversion. This thing can drop a CHARGING RHINO at 500 yards, and I have tagged the 10 ring at 1000 yards ! It's a BEAST !

I own several 1911’s, keep going back to my Ruger sr1911. Has never had a failure of any type with several thousand rounds having been sent.

One note though. When I was in the Navy, when we were in a hot zone, we carried cocked and locked. Never had an issue. When I carry my 1911, I carry cocked and locked.
I’ve talked to a lot of veterans from WW2, Korea, Vietnam, and you are the first to tell me that. All the accounts I have seen or heard have the gun being with the hammer down. Even in most pictures of the gun in combat zones in WW2 I see the gun hammer down. That’s quite interesting information- I’ll have to read more into it.

Picked up myself a ruger sr1911 with the lightweight aluminum frame for under 600. Now it’s my first 1911 so I can’t say much about comparison but it definitely shoots well in my option and very accurate too.
My first 1911 was the Ruger SR1911 Lightweight Commander in God’s caliber, which I traded in the Glock 26 and Remington Tac-14 12ga that had been my EDC and home-defense weapons up until then for shortly after separating from my then-wife, who wouldn’t have cared that I A) reduced the total # of guns in the house, and B) spent less (after the trade-ins) than she had on her last trip to Ulta for makeup, and either lectured me, or found some kind of passive-aggressive way to punish me for it lmao.
I can’t for the life of me figure out why the Lightweight Commander MSRPs for $450 more than the Lightweight full-size ($1249 vs $799; actual retail prices according to GB are ~$899-1k and $630-680, respectively), because a side-by-side comparison of their spec sheets straight off the Ruger website reveals that the only differences between the two are the grip material, length (barrel/slide & OAL), and weight. Hardwood instead of G10 grips, and being 0.92” shorter & 1.8oz lighter OAL just doesn’t come out to a ~$300 price difference IMO, luckily back when I bought mine, they were running $7-800. One Smith & Alexander aluminum carry-width magwell (the only Al one I’ve ever found, S&A can’t be ordered direct online, you MUST call, but the guy is super friendly and their prices are some of the best in the industry for the quality of the product, I have a stainless one on my Ronin and it is ALSO impeccable), a set of slim magwell-cut orange/black G10 LOK Grips (to match my collection of Cutlery Shoppe exclusive Spydercos), an XS white Ember front sight w/blank U-notch rear, and Nighthawk Custom Drop-in Trigger System w/one of their fully machined stainless thumb safeties gunsmith-fit to it, a full set of their pins & springs, and their Everlast recoil system w/a flatwire spring & full-length guide rod, plus I picked up a full complement of the obligatory Wilson Combat 8 & 10rd “Elite Tactical” magazines (the railed ones with the reinforced feed-lips and self-lubing/anti-tilt followers) when Brownells was doing one of their 3/$80-90 (or something like that) sales. Despite having added a number of other pistols to my collection (all 1911s save my SA-35 & East German Makarov), I still carry my trusty Ruger in the Commander-length Galco Royal Guard 2.0 holster (think Milt Sparks horsehide SS2) I picked up for $100 (MSRP: $185/ARP: ~$150) in an open-box deal on Amazon nearly every day, so don’t get me wrong at all: I f**king LOVE this gun, but I really can’t see spending a whole grand on it stock. With my upgrades it has a 3.5# trigger with 0 creep, a baby hair’s worth of overtravel, and the *perfect* amount of reset, plus, not only is the recoil spring rated to a minimum of 15k rounds, but the recoil reduction & timing between it, my hammer spring, and the trigger reset is such that even in rapid fire, it’s easy to forget that you’re shooting an alloy-frame gun, and at 15yd I’m able to put up groups that rival my Government-length/steel-frame Colt, and my buddy’s Springfield TRP (both in .45ACP as well), so I 100% believe the 5” version of this gun is capable of at least the same level of accuracy, if not better). Still can’t understand the significant price difference, but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ oh well, I guess I’m just lucky I snagged mine when I did lol
Ruger makes a great gun and is a great company. They haven’t really figured out the polymer striker fired pistols yet but everything else they make is top notch. That aluminum Ruger 1911 has got me rethinking carrying a 1911. Hopefully they will make an aluminum framed 1911 with a bobtail grip, pic rail, optic cut and maybe they could figure out a way to make a staggered stack magazine that doesn’t feel like a steel 2x4 in your hands like the Rock Island double stacks but also isn’t $2k.
I have the Ruger commander length SR1911 and it has been 100% reliable. I also have a Ruger P90, which was my first 45 caliber pistol. Say what you want about this pistol, but it has never had one miss fire in all the years that I owned it!😊

Fun fact, the empty chamber/uncocked hammer carry was a result of a pissing match between colt and whomever was making the holsters at the time. It was found that the holster would switch off the safety and the result would be Private Balshack shoots his own leg. The Army sided with the holster maker and told Colt to fix it, so Colt basically told them the gun is to be carried chamber empty as an FU.

It really is a struggle once you feel what a 1911 CAN be. It would be like going back to a Honda Civic after driving a Rolls Royce.
Carried an out of the box Colt 1911 series 80 until I retired in 2019. Thankfully, I worked for a smaller department that allowed officers to carry their own choice if they wanted to. OBTW, it's called "Arsenal Refinished". Thought you might know that if you deal with 1911s regularly. When I worked undercover, I carried a Colt 1991A1 Compact again, out of the box. I've never found it necessary to "modify" any 1911 I've every owned or carried, why destroy perfection. I guess that puts me in the "Purest" when it comes to my 1911s.
The best non Colt I've found and owned is the AO 1911A1, no modifications period.

Just clicked onto the channel this morning for the first time. I couldn't believe it, a channel with 1911 lovers! No smarmy comments about it being an outdated, old timer POS, because plastic is Gods gift to and Glock is the Savior of the gun world, etc. The first handgun I ever shot was a what would now days be categorized as a .45 caliber series 70 Colt Combat Commander, steel frame. The first FIREARM I ever owned was that same Colt. I have been in love with the 1911 ever since I was a little kid ( I'm 71 now). Glad I found you guys!

I just picked up a rock island tac standard for 600. With about half an hour of polishing on the inside I got this thing to feel like a gun worth double that.

Ed Brown s are great 1911s and do seem to get less internet love, but they usually make most peoples top 3 for custom 1911. Great video and fun choices.

I don't have a GI issued 1911, I have owned Colts including a Gold Cup, guns from Rock Island Armory, Randall, Tisas, and Auto-Ordinance and a Springfield and one Kimber. Hands down, my favorite 1911s to go on a range day with have been the RIA or Tisas. My EDC is a Tisas Tank Commander.
i found my 1942 colt 1911a1 army for 300$ from a gun shop it came with a shoe box that contained what turned out to be all of its old gi internals, barrel bushing i micro adj rear sight and 3 two tone mags. turns out it had ben gone over and has colt contract nm prefix barrel and bushing fitted & installed and a few other parts wer actually hand made like the fixed sights and the trigger, and evry working surface is polished its pretty crazy. the reason it was so cheap is that it had ben expertly polished and charcoal blued, the frame and slide and fire blue all the small parts..it made it quote practically worthless! the slide and frame are numbers match still at least lol ya know i sold the three two tone mags for 300$ lol so it ended up costing nothing! ide wager that it was the best 1911 at the shop that day by far, for less than a new rock island! its the most dependable 1911a1 ive ever shot and shoots exactly wear you are aiming and will keep up with any other custom made target rigs made for camp perry national match. i got lucky and will treasure it as long as i live.

The 1911 is my all tie favorite pistol. Your expert made a comment about carrying a 1911 in combat that I have heard before other than it could be carried in the half cock but not advised. I carried a 1911 off and on for 19 years and qualified with a 1911 for 18 of my 20 years in the Marine Corp from 1968 to 1988 shooting the GI Govt like he had. The last year was with the M109 Beretta in 9 mm and my last expert badge was with it. I managed to pull out 10 expert on qualifications with the 45 in my latter years.I have built several match grade 1911’s when I was younger out of the same receivers that your Govt pistol. I own 5 currently and I also don’t have the money that you spent on a low end one but with careful hand loading they shoot ( not Run) really well. I could only watch about 13 min of your video than went to another video. Stay safe and have a good one.

My very first 1911 purchase was an Ed Brown custom Kobra 5 inch in 45ACP. That is my BBQ gun and will never get rid of it. They do not market themselves very well. They rely on word of mouth, blogs, and just the 1911 community to get the word out.

Being 74 years old and raised in the San Fernando Valley, my Dad worked up at Santa Susana test facility. When I was 15 years old he asked if I could shoot with their Pistol Team. They said YES and I was able to shoot with them for 5 years. I had to have a 45 1911 which was loaded to me and I bought the Ruger bull barrel 22 caliber semi automatic, as I got some more money I bought the Colt Combat Commander and had the trigger and target sights put on it. Back in those days if you were 18 years old you could buy any gun or ammo you wanted. I inherited a Gold Cup 45 which was set up by the Colt’s gunsmith shop . I bought the Springfield Armory version of the standard issue. And the S&W copy of the 1911 with crimson light in the left hand grip. As far as 22 goes I bought a used Colt Woodsman Match, and have two High Standard Supermatic pistols. I was given an ammo box full of 1911 parts whose father was the Gunsmith for the Army’s pistol team.

I started out with a .22 1911 to learn the ins and outs of the 1911. I taught my grandson how to shoot it and it replaced my Ruger 10/22 as his favorite gun. A year later I bought a Tisas 1911 in .45 ACP because it was about all I could afford on a fixed income. My grandson fired one mag through it. The first thing he said was "It's loud". He's a good shooter. Better than I am. I alternate shooting between the 2 1911's. The .22 one week and the .45 ACP the next week. The only mods I've done is putting compensator on both pistols. Happy shooting!
You should try some of the ligheight rounds for the 45. I got some, I think hey are 90grains but cycle the gun just fine but have almost no recoil. I think they are made my Civil Liberty Defense .

Regarding the Tisas, I would never waste my time looking at them, but I was at one of the LGS here a couple
months ago and the owner wanted me to look at a Tisas Commander Aviator lightweight in 9mm.
It's a somewhat odd mix of parts, but it's actually a good lookin pea shooter...
It's two-tone. It has a solid trigger, a standard short rear sight and it has a very nicely dovetailed front sight
that has a brass bead. It has a standard grip safety with a Commander hammer., and an arched mainspring housing..
The fit and finish is very nice and it cycles nicely. Even the case is fairly nice, AND it came with two mags

EDC- Sig C3 Commander/Officer hybrid. Lightweight, accurate and extremely reliable. 8 rds and a fullsize mag on my person.
BBQ gun- Coonan Classic .357 mag. It's the ultimate conversation starter both at the range or anywhere there are gun people.
Beater- this one is a tough one, but I think it has to be a gun I through together with parts I had laying around. It's a .45ACP/.400 Corbon interchangeable barrel gun it has a Remington R1 stainless commander slide(cdnn special), a cheap fusion firearms cast frame(it was the only thing I had to buy, cylinder and slide hammer/sear kit, a Wilson combat grip safety, Remington 25 lpi mainspring housing (cdnn special also), all Wolff springs, Ed Brown thumb safety and slide stop, Wilson bushing, Remington factory barrel (from my .45 super build) and Barsto .400 Corbon barrel (I bought years ago)
EGW full length guide rod and plunger, Dawson Novak style sights, fusion K hole trigger, cheap black plastic checkered grips(I don't recall the part# but they were the grips used for arsenal refurbished military pistols)
I could do this all day long. I own 1911's in just about every configuration imaginable and I think in every caliber you can chamber them in. I own them from VERY expensive to very budget. Very few have stayed in their original configuration. Greatest handgun ever designed!!!
There are very few left handed shooters out there and I felt that 1911s were too "unfriendly" to left handed shooters. Until I saw you gettin' some rounds out with the TRP.

That's the only thing I don't like about 1911's they are mostly made for right hand shooters.Unless you spend big bucks to have one made for a left-handed shooter.

I was a dedicated Colt 1911 guy. However, I purchased a modern 'Gold Cup. and was very disaapointed. I judged all of my 1911's to the Mark IV series 70 that served me so well. I shot it unitil it was complexly worn out. With the exception of the 'Gold Cup' style slide and the adjustable sights, the internals seem to be no different than any of their other guns. The trigger is marginal, and the fit of internal components of my pistol is no different from their cheapest models. The barrel to bushing fit is abysmal. The slide to receiver fit is marginal. It's a long way from the God Cup of the 60's and 70's. I've moved to Springfield Armory guns and haven't looked back.
I'm kinda surprised (yet not really surprised) that Eli's "beater" gun isn't the Hi-Cap, because at least on IG it seems like that's the one (or Top 3 at least) that he has the most rounds through, but then I remembered the part where since he works for Alchemy he was only allowed to mention one of their guns, lol.
The Ed Brown is still badass, though. When I was first getting into guns, Ed Brown was like my grail 1911. That was, until I discovered what Cabot Guns and Alchemy Custom Weaponry are. Especially Cabot, since they have their "Southpaw" line of full-custom left-handed guns. I'm wrong-handed like Jake and I REALLY want a Southpaw. One day...
It would’ve been hard for me to not have an ACW for at least three of the categories. I probably would’ve kept the NHC/Colt and Remington Rand, though. You’re right, the HiCap is absolutely the gun I beat up the most, though.
Believe it or not I used a Colt Officers 3.5" barrel for years. It took 2 gunsmiths 30 years ago to set it up correctly. Went through full pistol traing with it and for 25 yards it was bullseye accurate. Loaded it for carry with Cor Bon 165gr 1325fps ( with a 4" barrel) so plenty powerful for the 3.5 inch barrrel. Of course a heavy Wolf slide spring. Notice the Commander 4.25 inch pistol is the limit to downsizing of barrel size here.
Just thought a defense of a smaller barrel for a .45 acp was needed. With practice can be always accurate. By the way standard 230 gr hardball would still be accurate and deadly.
Tisas is the best bang for your buck. You don't have to pay $2k-5k for a good 1911.

I bought the Tisas to compete in SASS Wild Bunch matches - and have been surprised by its reliability and accuracy. It's not a WC or an Ed Brown...or even a Colt. But its a decent throw-back to the WWI/WW2 pistols.
