I had the Roux En Y 20 years ago and unfortunately I was never told about vitamins and am suffering from that effect today, Low blood counts, low iron, low vit b12 among others. Suffering from Severe Osteoporosis to which I have to get Reclast IV infusions yearly now cause my bones started breaking by themselves (not caused by any injury). Back 20 years ago we didn't have a surgeon who specialized in bariatric surgery but just a regular surgeon. I am very fortunately to have a wonderful doctors now from my Primary Care Physician, Internest, Neurologist and Orthopedic physicians who are working on getting back to being healthy. Always, and I can not express this enough, make sure you check out any surgeon who does Bariatric Surgery and make sure he is qualified by the AMA and board certified in Bariatric Surgery and make sure you get the right kind of teaching before the surgery and have teaching afterwards on what to do, what to expect and ask many many questions no matter how small it may seem or even if its stupid as no question is stupid when it comes to your health. Just because you had Bariatric Surgery does not mean everyone takes the same vitamins, it depends on what other problems you have and your needs. I am a retired nurse and I never knew anything about Bariatric Surgery. Gained all my weight back because of lack of teaching materials. I now have lost 82 pounds this past year by following a 1200 calorie healthy diet with the help of my primary care physician and nutrionist. I feel great and am more physical activity then I ever have been and I am 67 years old and still losing slowly but the healthy way.
I stopped taking my vitamins coz I thought I eat enough to get enough vitamins... I just read your comment and I feel stupid and I just took them now. Tha k you and I hope you are well and healthy❤
Question! I know you said to take the multivitamins before going to bed. However what about the vitamins that are best absorbed with fat intake? PS.. I had the RNY 17 years ago. I unfortunately have not taken vitamins like I should. I am experiencing major muscle and bone aching, FATIGUED AF, and dark circles under my eyes! So people PLEASE TAKE YOUR VITAMINS!!!
Hi Hope, the time of day doesn't matter so much. If you have vitamins that best absorbed with fat or food then you can take those vitamins with a meal. Also, if you haven't seen your doctor lately, we encourage you to get your labs checked.
I know this is super late on this, but thank you for the schedule that you gave for the calcium. I’m going to take my vitamins at night. Intake the Bariatric Choice Capsule with 45 iron (I’m 8 yrs post gastric bypass)at night now. Can I take the vitamin D with my multi too at night, or do I have to space it out with the calcium for maximum absorption? Thanks in advance!
Now I am slightly irritated at myself.. 8 years post op VSG and i come across this video randomly and watch..... I let her scold me into going out and buying vitamins.. i stopped taking them a couple years ago
Are your recommendations for vitamins in this video the same for those who have had the duodenal switch? I had the biliopancreatic diversion with duodenal switch done 18 years ago. I don't take my vitamins like I should. Also, I don't absorb fat. Does this affect the type of vitamins I should take? Example, I've taken dry vitamin D.
Unless your labs are off (specifically in Vitamins A, D, E and K) all bariatric multivitamins are the same. We recommend nessvitamins.com Your fat absorption should not change what type of vitamins you take (i.e. capsule vs. chewable)
If you are looking for a complete bariatric multivitamin you can take once a day, we recommend Ness Vitamins, which has 3000IU per capsule: www.nessvitamins.com/products/bariatric-multivitamin-capsule-30-day
@@LiveHealthyMD So if I take these multivitamins, I should not need to take any additional Vitamin D3 supplement since this multivitamin already contains 3000iu’s, correct?
@@kandylish Yes you should only need to take this multivitamin, as long as your physican doesn't recommend you take additional Vitamin D due to a deficiency.
I didn't think your presentation was weird, it actually made the topic interesting. Keep up the great job Morgan

@@LiveHealthyMD Thank you! I did have labs done. Everything came back good except Vitamin D, it was 15.
Thank you so much Morgan💕💕💕💕
VERY INFORMATIVE VIDEO!! I’m going by it! Surgery next week!
Best of luck on your weight loss journey!
Live Healthy MD thanks things are going well!
How much B-12 do you recommend taken daily for a Roux-En-Y Gastric Bypass patient?

Take it separate. You need to take it 2 hours away. Find a Calcium citrate that has vitamin D3 and take it 2 hours separate.

It’s hard to find Vitamin D in 3000iu. Any company suggestions? I only see them in 2000iu & 5000iu.

Gracias 😊 thanks!
I am out. You talk as if you are talking to 3 years old.
Yeah I know she is trying to help but yes it was extremely hard to listen to this video.
Just seems a bit snarky/condescending of a presentation. Voice going up and down inappropriately. . .off putting.
We are sorry you feel that way about Morgan in this video. We will be sure to let her know so she can sound more empathetic in her videos
Weird
Hey Cath Mac, thanks for watching. What do you find weird about this video? We want to improve for future audiences
@@LiveHealthyMD the way you spoke was not easy or comfortable to watch. I honestly felt like youd taken something then pressed record.
Natures truth Calcium citrate with vitamin D3 is sold at Walmart.
I disagree, you kept it energetic and interesting.. were here for the info not to judge people.. :)
