    I never use ready made protein shakes/powders.If you add skimmed milk powder to a pint of skimmed/semi-skimmed milk, you have 40g of protein per pint before you add a little fruit yogurt/cottage cheese/Quark, instant oats, milled flaxseed or chia seed, peanut butter, veggies like baby spinach to a smoothie. Add a little sugar subtitute or tbl of sugar-free instant pudding mix and you have a good cheap, healthy, tasty protein rich smoothie.You control what goes into it and the varieties are endless. Follow the Doc's advice here. Portion control, high protein and mindful eating are the key to shifting weight after surgery. Its hard to break the habits of bad food choices and over eating. Try to stay focused and positive and be creative with your food. I have lost 80kg and still on my journey. Good Luck!

      Yes 4 ounces or 1/2 cup per food, or 1 total cup of food per meal. 8 tablespoons is 1/2 cup. 8 Oz is 1 cup.

Now im stalling on week 7.. i have texture issues, no taste or smell since covid. Vertigo kept me in bed still. A ton antibiotics iv, mouth, injections... i drink 2 shakes a day to try get protein. • @alexandrasmith7682

      Fourteen years after my op, I had to have a camera put down my stomach for something unrelated. My consultant informed me that my stomach looked like I was only 6 months out from surgery but I have seriously watched my portions and foods. Breakfast for me is usually cottage cheese or 1 scrambled egg and a portion of fruit, lunch 2ozs ham or turkey with 2/3rds cup of chopped salad veggies like bell pepper, tomato, beets .... And dinner is often the same as lunch. If I do eat out or takeaway, then I have two tablespoons of the protein main (say chicken curry or chilli) and a level tablespoon of rice .... Nothing else. I avoid pizza, pasta, French fries, chips .... All waste my calories.

    Would this be a good diet for someone who hasn't had surgery but wants to only eat a high protein, veggies, fruit and low carb diet? I have put on 10 lbs and Im no where near needing surgery, but I watch my 600lb life and see the diets they are put on. I just wonder if this would cause problems or not be nutritionally complete?

    • @TheFakeyCakeMaker
      @TheFakeyCakeMaker Год назад

      Follow a ketogenic diet, Dr Eric Berg has a lot of information and there are great groups online. On 600lb life Dr Now recommends a 1200 calorie day diet, that's too low for most people, remember he's talking to people with lots of stored fat so they'll be fine but for most people 1200 is low. Lowering your carb intake will always be a good route to health. Doing a diet like this would only cause problems in that you'll probably get too hungry and then would be tempted to pick and eat high sugar/carb foods, keto works on filling the void that carbs leave with fat thus making you more satisfied.

      Because your weight gain is so small and you aren't a bariatric patient, why don't you eliminate drinks with calories and try the plate method? 1/2 plate non-starchy vegetables, 1/4 starch, and 1/4 protein source. Focus on high fiber and no added fats/sugars. Your weight will come off.

      You could do it, but you'd be white knuckling it for the first 3 days or so until the stretch receptors signal your brain that you're full on such a small amount of food. I would maybe do the last phase in terms of the portion sizes, 1/2 cup of protein + 1/2 fruit for a meal, then 1/2 cup P + 1/2 cup veg another meal and 1/2 cup P + 1/2 c starch. If you hit 600 cal in a day, I'd be amazed, but sure you'll drop weight like crazy. Take a good multi and a B12 tab, you should be fine. Good luck!

    • @JustOneDress
      @JustOneDress Год назад +1

      @@princessbabibear4794 nah, depends how dedicated someone is. Plenty of dieters go from 3,000 a day to 1,200 and manage to get through. The first 3-4 days are the worst for all dieters until your body figures out you're taking in less food. Then it'll be easier. At least this is healthy food, even if it's tiny portions! It's super low in fat and weight should melt off.
