She nailed it at the end. The song represents the growth of children into adults. All kids are freaks in their own way but as you grow up you learn to suppress it and develop into whoever you become. He is speaking from the point that if you never get past that or don’t grow up you feel like you don’t belong even though we were all that way at some point.

This beat is theirs. This song was played massively on the radio, so I'm sure you've heard it before somewhere. KoRn are definitely very unique. Their guitars have an extra string on them to give a heavier bass sound. That noise he was making was a mixture of beat boxing and scat.

    • @BM-hb2mr

Korn popularized this beat. However, its been played a million times. Especially if you're referring to the "beat" as the drums. With the bass added there is an argument for that I guess, but traditionally speaking a beat is the drums, and that has been played a bunch. especially jazz. speed that up a bunch and it has jazzy tendencies. That said, this is one of my favorite implementations of that beat! It fits the song well, and he nails the little double stroke rolls most the song. Great tune! just wanted to clear up the whole "beat" thing. Definitely been played before🙂.

It's also why a lot of it doesn't get played on radios and stuff because people just feel uncomfortable hearing the honesty in the songs. They'd rather some catchy poppy song that has no meaning so people will focus on that stuff rather than the issues at hand. Like even "This is America" by childing Gambino speaks on this too.

I saw Korn in 1995 at a tiny club in Berkeley - at that time, there was nothing that sounded even remotely similar to them. It was very cool to see a band that was so different. The whole band was exploring new territory. The vocal style is instantly recognizable. They were at the forefront of popularizing drop-tuned, 7-string guitars. The bass is drop-tuned as well, which makes the strings clack against the neck, which is a major part of their sound. Also their drummer using an 808 in rock/metal definitely turned some heads.

This band is exceptional I have hung with them, played with them. The Lead Singer Jonathan and I are good friends. But when you want to see a band, this is the band you want to see. their act is so tight that every jump on every note on every song. They are so well-rehearsed that they leave their feet at the same time and land at the same time without ever missing a beat or a note. I have to tell you it's hard to play with them even when we just hang out for fun they are just so in tune with each other and my style of play is more like Slash so it works but trying to get into their Rythm is very tough.

You guys are my new favorite reaction Channel. You are the first young people that actually get into lyrical meanings that I’ve come across. Most of the time it’s like they listen, say “that sounded great, man. Hit like and subscribe if you enjoyed watching me do nothing but listen to a song.” Anytime there is lyrical dissection it’s always some old dude. Which I don’t have a problem with, cuz I watch the hell out of Key of Geebz. Dude’s an old composer, and his channel is wonderful. But I think it’s great that you guys are so into the lyrical meaning, and evaluate the messages in the songs. And I love how Lex gets so into it. She’s straight up vibing. 😂😂 I been watching a lot of your tool reactions and you guys did surprising well in analyzing their lyrical content. Most people our age don’t understand anything Maynard says. I’d love to see how you guys like Metalcore tho. If you’re interested, I’ve got a few bands for you to check out. Keep doing what you’re doing guys. I’m loving your reactions.

I'm not gonna lie. I've listened to this song probably thousands of times since it came out. I always thought the line was "You and I weren't meant to be a cheap f- for me to lay." meaning that he thought they were more, but it turned out they weren't. I learned just now that it's the opposite. "You and I were meant to be a cheap f- for me to lay" which I now assume means he caught feelings. The following refrain of "Something takes a part of me", leads me to believe the feeling is not mutual.
Wow. Amazing how you can hear a song for 22 years and still pick up new things from it.
